I experienced some disappointing customer service at Nordstrom Rack while I was shopping this week…read more I shopped for a while and found some winners. I went to wait in line to purchase the items and was hoping to find a different size in a pair of shoes I liked. The person ringing me up, Hugo, looked up the shoes and said they had my size available. He called for someone to go find them and said to wait at the register. He had already rang me up for the sweaters but hadn't charged me yet. I waited for about 5 minutes and then offered to pay for the sweaters so he could continue helping other customers (it was very busy and the line was long). I paid for my items and waited off to the side. I waited another 5 minutes or so and Hugo came over to let me know they couldn't find the size I was looking for even though it showed it was available in their system. I was bummed, but I understood and appreciated them taking the time to look. I told him I'd still be interested in purchasing the size I originally found. He told me I would need to wait in line again to make my purchase. I was very caught off guard. At that point I wasn't going to wait in the long line I had already waited in and waited off to the side thinking I was doing Hugo and the other customers a favor. Super disappointing and time wasted.

Basing a low rating on a snippet of conversation you disagreed with seems a bit off-base and more than a little judgemental, no? Especially when you noted the warm greeting and polite exit. Thrift stores are about community and reuse, not ideological purity tests. The Ark is clean, welcoming, and packed with affordable goodies--who cares if the chit-chat behind the counter doesn't match your specific worldview? If we started judging businesses solely on overheard opinions, we'd all be shopping in echo chambers. Props to the polite team; they've earned my repeat business for the deals, not the discourse.

The pricing as mentioned was affordable and actually had some great gag gifts such as a $15 Mario watch with parfumé. To improve upon service a better space would be a start as the color hurts my head when walking around. Another improvement would be to have more name brands at the same affordable prices. A final improvement towards service would be to have maybe a couple of workers as a checkpoint to assist shoppers as it seemed like a ghost town. We needed a sun umbrella for the cotati accordion festival and even though inventory showed two there was only one. The guy in sportswear was so helpful and he tried so hard to find the missing umbrella. We ended up just buying one and it was great. Our past visit we had help from a great employee who talked us through price matching. I understand these are stressful times but sometimes I think people take out their frustrations on service personnel. I feel the folks here have always overperformed for me and always tried to help.

We've spent thousands here over the last 5 years, but I truly wonder what this business thinks it…read moreis. They seem like a wholesale nursery that grudgingly allows retail customers because...why? The wholesale model isn't profitable enough? Although they often have what I want (or can order it), I brace myself every time I go in because MOST of the staff is so unhelpful, so rude, and seems so downright resentful of their own customers that I vow to never come back. Even the simplest question can earn you a snarky, attitude-rich reply. That's if you get a reply. More often than not, employees are too "busy" with...what? More important things? To top it off, last year while looking at plants I tripped over the handle of my plant cart and fell. As my husband helped me up, we both saw the employee behind the check out counter who couldn't stop himself from laughing. Didn't ask if I was OK. Just laughed like a middle schooler. Seriously. I finally looked at Yelp to see if my experience was unique. I see it is not. I just wish this business would take a serious look at it's customer approach and employee training because we would love to keep buying their plants.
