This is my go-to Sephora. Today I realized it's not just because it's conveniently located -- it's also because the vibe and energy of the staff here are genuinely different. I've visited other Sephora locations, and while the staff are usually busy or busy chatting with each other, I often find myself having to search for someone when I need assistance. It's not a huge issue since I typically know what I'm looking for, but great customer service definitely stands out when you experience it. What I love about this location is how welcoming it feels the moment you walk in. Today I had the pleasure of meeting one of the managers, Tristian, and she was wonderful. She was positive, approachable, and truly spoke with a smile. I also noticed how the team interacted with each other--it felt genuine, supportive, and full of good energy. This is one of the lesser busy Sephora locations I've been too, but the parking can be horrendous. Staff are helpful, they are usually well stocked, and lines are short. They do keep the perfumes locked up because of theft, but ask any associate and they will gram it for you quickly! read more

This store seems chronically understaffed, which is reflected by inconsistent service (some professional employees, some unprofessional), frequently low/out of stock products (which says a lot because their inventory seems limited as is), long wait times to check out, and generally dirty and messy store. The second most recent time I went, I saw one of the workers roll her eyes and give attitude to a DoorDash driver who was asking for help finding a product. When she helped me, she was nicer and said that the store was crazy because of an ongoing sale. As someone who's worked in retail before, I empathize, but it's not professional or kind to treat customers the way she did. Then the most recent time I went, I realized afterwards that they charged me for a bag even though I declined it. On top of that, the parking lot is pretty crowded here so it can be unpleasant to drive through despite there being garage parking available too. Overall, I love Sephora but I've had more negative than positive experiences here. I only go because it's on my usual route, but based on these experiences, I'll either order online or go to a further location. read more

The representative there told her it had limited stock in Santana Row and full in-stock at the Santa Clara. She chose the Santa Clara location and guess it was out-of-stock. I came in not knowing what I wanted besides "soft glam" but she had me pull up a picture for an idea and then did exactly what I wanted. I love that she asked questions and gave suggestions. Sephora at Santa Clara Square is a convenient location to buy your necessities for your face, hair, and even body. I was not even aware this shop existed until few weeks ago when I ended up parking alot further down the street than what I typically park when I'm at the plaza. Their team of associates have always been extremely friendly and product savvy when I asked questions about fragrances, foundation, and mascara! This plaza is not a shopping mall, but a place in close vicinity to Whole Foods, Starbucks, a bunch of fancy restaurants, a bank, etc.... with a high end apartment complex. read more

I visited this location because I was in the area and wanted to purchase a hair dryer brush I saw in a magazine. I checked online first to make sure they had it in stock and Iris greeted me at the entrance and helped me find it. I also needed a blush and because it is November, I found a great holiday set with 2 full size (NARS and a cream blush) and 2 travel size illuminators for $36! Such a steal! While paying, I saw they did eyebrow waxing so I called later that day to book an appointment. I went back a few days later and Melody (Maeve), the esthetician, took her time mapping and waxing/plucking my brows. She cleaned them up and made sure she did what I was looking for (more arch but thick). She was kind and talkative but not in a distracting way. I am really happy with how they turned out. I'm so happy this location opened up. Although on the smaller side, they still carry all of the brands that I like and the staff working there is super nice. I had ordered the Dyson airwrap holiday set, which wasn't cheap. And then the following week Sephora sent me the VIB discount. Since the savings were significant, I decided to bring it in and do a return/rebuy. The girl at the counter was completely understanding and processed the transaction without giving me a hard time. This Sephora is located in a beautiful shopping plaza. The inside of the store is just as clean and organized. I came here over the weekend to purchase an item, so I made sure to call before arriving. The employee who assisted me on the phone was quick, efficient, and very helpful. Brand new, all fresh, all pretty, full stocked and in a still pretty new area in Santa Clara/San Jose, the Santa Clara Square (that consists in several companies, an impossible to forget wonderful Whole Foods and a few other restaurants). I wish Sephora luck in this location, as the other famous beauty chain around does not seem to be ever filled with customers...not even pre-pandemic. I wonder what will the future bring to this Sephora location, as also is competing with the array of natural beauty products from Whole Foods that are really awesome. If you go to this Sephora during these early days you will get a bag if you spend $100 in goodies. I like that the sellers are not pushy and when you say you just want to browse leave you alone. I went in yesterday, the first time in a Sephora for myself, to get some concealer for a face scar I got from diving into a pool while drinking, so I don't go to work looking like I'm in a fight club all week. The ladies were super helpful. They helped me "tone match" my face to the right shade, showed me how to apply it, taught me what a "beauty blender" is, and all. Best part is while in there I found out they sell my favorite Versace cologne (plus some others I've been wanting to try like Dior Sauvage), saving me a trip to Valley Fair when I want to smell better, plus for cheaper than the Versace store. I LOVE THIS SEPHORA. The employees are on top of their game: professionalism, attentiveness, and artistry. I had my makeup done here by Melody (Maeve) and knew full well I wanted to buy most of the products she used on me (however, she wasn't pushy about this nor did she push me to purchase anything and wanted to work with what I already had at home). Melody was so receptive when I told her I wanted to learn how to do the look I wanted and helped me not only match a new color for my skin tone, but she was so patient with the questions I had and notes I took as she did my makeup during our session. She had a great eye for working with my "features" and taught me so much within the hour I booked. She's also an esthetician so gave me great tips about skin prep. I also want to add how during our session that other employees were stopping by and giving so many compliments to her skills and the makeup look - it felt good to be around such supportive energy and I don't even work there! Let's just say I got a lot of "looks" that day because my makeup looked so good. Hand down this is my favorite Sephora!! Most of the time they are fully stock and their customer service is amazing. When you ask them questions they always recommend amazing products. Normally when I go shopping with no make up on and dress like I am just chilling at home I don't receive the same level of service as when I am in full glam but here I can look lazy and still receive great customer service. I'll give them one star because my step mom's makeup turned out decent but DO NOT have melody do your makeup. She has no idea what she's doing. She "attempted" to do a bridal look for me but I ended up with this smudged dark uneven semi smoky eye. She had to ask Amanda the other makeup artist several times if it looks good and if that's a bridal look. WHY THE HELL would you do a brides makeup if you don't know how?!!! So she starts applying my foundation with a tiny makeup sponge and in the middle of my left cheek says, do you deal with peeling with this makeup? This was fenty beauty drop foundation I use and the answer is NO! She was rubbing the makeup on abrasively. So she wiped it off and guess what happened next.... My face completely broke out in a red rash ON MY WEDDING DAY!!!!!!! Dear God! If I wasn't Christian I would've gone off. Worst experience for my first makeup I ever had done on me. Probably will be my last unless it's someone that someone actually recommended to me. So I washed my face, had to take Benadryl (I'm pregnant so that was stressful for me) and went back to my hotel, rushed to do my makeup and hair because a whole over an hour was WASTED because Melody doesn't know how to do makeup properly. Needless to say, I got plenty of compliments on my makeup and I had to inform everyone I was my own makeup artist. Clarissa is the best. She is extremely friendly, so helpful, and extremely knowledgeable about products. I love skincare and makeup, like to do my own research on products, and am extremely particular about the products I use. It's hard for me to find someone whose recommendations I can trust, but Clarissa is pretty spot-on with her recommendations. I usually don't even google reviews for her recs bc I know they'll be good. If I have a question, she usually knows the answer; and if not, she does her best to find it for me. I've had issues with Sephora customer service (online and other stores) in the past and generally shop online to avoid unnecessary interactions, but lately, I've been stopping at this location to get Clarissa's help. I try to work exclusively with her. One other thing that's worth noting is that the employees here actually care and won't sell you a product that doesn't work for you. (That's my pet peeve - when I state my concerns and they get brushed off or I'm told "just try it".) They'll work with you and your feedback to find a product that you'll be satisfied with. read more

You would think the courteous thing to do would be to do an even exchange but they said since I used beauty insider cash, I'd have to pay the remaining balance. What's the point of points if I can't even do an even exchange? I worked retail for years and would've just made it an even exchange. And it's not like Sephora is hurting for money. Made to feel like a criminal in this place. My gf and I were not greeted by anyone. The employees are not knowledgeable at all. The lady's standing around have the worst case of RBF I have ever seen and unapproachable. My gf asked about a beach wave hair curler and instead of getting an answer was hawked a poor attempt to get her a credit card. The guy helping me find a shampoo picked out a product pair that was clearly not meant for my hair type at all and has been doing nothing for my hair since. As my gf filled her basket and we looked at the colognes an employee asked for our basket to hold at the counter even though we weren't finished shopping and did not offer another basket. As we paid the woman checking out in front of us stated "do you need to check my bag again," now I see why and how they treat customers here. We're not broke and spent almost $600 like every Sephora trip we ever do. Today, they were especially helpful to find the products I was looking for. There was product that was not in stock, but they went out of their way to find a similar color in a different brand and in the Sephora website. Came here earlier today with my boyfriend and I've never felt so uncomfortable at a Sephora, ever. We came here at 6:30 pm, not realizing that the store would be closing at 7. I thought they would be open later but as we were in the parking lot I double checked the store hours and saw it closed early. I've worked retail before and know how annoying it is when customers come in right when you're supposed to close, so my boyfriend and I just ran in and quickly looked around because I only needed 2 things. I didn't want to take up too much of their time since they were closing soon anyways. Big mistake, because apparently this looked suspicious to them or something. No joke, within 3 minutes of entering the store we had 4 sales associates come up to us and ask us if everything is okay. Usually, we just get greeted "welcome" and get asked if we needed assistance 5-10 mins later. This was not the case. We were being followed around the store, maybe because of our appearance. I just got home from work 30 mins prior so I just changed into leggings and a shirt since I was running some quick errands. I literally have never felt so uncomfortable in a store before. It felt as if they thought we were going to steal which is not the case. After that, we only stayed in the store for another 3-4 minutes and left because we were so uncomfortable. I won't be back because of this experience. I'd rather brave the insane mall crowds at Valley Fair than be treated like this again. Came in this evening to pickup an order I placed on the app this morning. So Easy! I could've been in and out of there in less than 5 minutes had I not started to wander around looking at things. The two associates I spoke with were very personable & helpful. The store itself was clean and nicely organized. A huge bonus is that parking is easy & unlike the mall it's easy to just run in and grab what you need. And Unlike Sephora at Stanford Shopping Center the people that work here are kind and aren't judgemental towards people just running in workout clothes with no makeup. HORRIBLE experience! I would rate this Sephora location 0 stars if I could. Unlike all Sephora locations I've visited this one differed for the worse. The store was not busy when I visited and I was not greeted at the front which felt very unwelcoming. I was shopping looking around and it seemed every 5 minutes an employee would ask "Do you need any help?" and I would kindly say "No, I'd let them know if I do." I understand they're trying to do the job but how about not approaching so often, it felt as if I was being watched. AND when I actually did need help checking if an item was in stock then it seemed ALL of a sudden the employees were missing or on break. Worst part of this whole experience is that when I was ready to be checked out at the register, I was rang up by a lady named Amy whom I assumed was the manager, as she was well dressed who continuously offered and informed me about the Sephora credit card and the "benefits". I said "I was not interested" but her attitude to sell seems very nagging or forced as she stated "ALL I need is your photo ID". Such an unpleasant feeling to be repeatedly insisted about this card after not feeling welcomed to Sephora as I normally do. I was really looking forward to having my first beauty lesson at this location. I had read about stellar reviews about Melody and signed up for this session as a way to feel better about my appearance. I had recently had signs of melasma around my face and wanted a full coverage look for a wedding coming up next week. When I arrived at 4:00pm per my scheduled appointment, I was told my appointment had been pushed back by 30 minutes and Melody was on a late break due to a previous client being late. I was told an email was sent out to notify me of this last minute change. I was okay with waiting. After 30 minutes, Melody showed up and she did not explain how the session would go so I thought the start of our interaction was quite awkward as she spent a couple minutes just looking at the corner of the counter where her makeup supplies were sitting. She did not ask me any questions about my goals. So, after I started leading the conversation about what I was hoping to achieve, the session started off with skin prep and a lesson on eye shadow application. It's something I was interested in so I was glad to learn. She was patient with questions but judgmental in her responses regarding her being in the beauty industry and thus cosmetic surgery was not inclusive to her beauty standards. Unfortunately my biggest complaint is not about conversation, it's because she was so slow we didn't finish the eyes let alone start on the base makeup with just 10 minutes left in our session. She quickly applied the full-coverage foundation to my face but the discoloration was still visible around the upper lip where I was most subconscious. I asked what her recommendations were for concealers since the dark spots were still visible. Instead she responded that it was not visible. I said I could still see it and she responded with some tips to try at home. I thanked her and prepared to leave. However after the time was up, I didn't feel comfortable walking out with my face only half done so I filled in my eyebrows. I'm not sure if she was flustered or if I was visibly upset but she asked if I was okay. I said I was okay and she said for some reason "I hope you're going right home after this." I think she was trying to help but I felt like this beauty lesson was supposed to be a treat for me but I left feeling more self conscious and like I had wasted my time and efforts. Melody seems like a nice person but my experience today left me upset and I wouldn't recommend the beauty lesson service to anyone as the value for the price was just shy of being worth it. read more

I love coming to this Sephora because it avoids the hustle & bustle of a mall. They're usually stocked with everything you need, the store is clean, and people are friendly! Today's experience with Stephanie was less than pleasant. She helped me at check out and truly seemed liked she'd rather be anywhere else. Please continue to staff this place with helpful people.
