I will start with you have to need to be licensed to shop here. My sister is a licensed esthetician so I accomplished her here every change I get. This particular location is always fully stocked and honestly it's like being a kid in a candy store. I'm able to get salon sized bottles of my shampoos and hair masks so I can come with my sister here twice a year and be set. I love this place!!! As a professional hairstylist, I go here to pick up all my supply needs. The girls there are always welcoming except for the manager. She is very unfriendly and not approachable. When asked if a product was in stock she simply replies yes it's over there. Instead of getting out from behind the register, she stands there. I'm definitely not pleased at the place. All I wanted was a particular spray bottle. Nothing on yelp or anywhere else indicated "only licensed professionals" can buy anything at this location. I want a particular spray bottle and not the ones you can get at Walgreens or save Mart. My hairstylist actually recommended a particular spray bottle from a salon supply. I was on my way to my dentist appointment and decided to drive a little further down at this location for that spray bottle that I needed. I guess I will have no choice but to purchase my spray bottle elsewhere. I still can't believe they won't even tell me a simple items such as a spray bottle.I gave him two stars because the woman behind the counter was courteous enough to explain to me their "rules". This place has the worst customer service. I have had my license for many years and shopped at numerous cosmetology stores and never had an experience like this one. All the Salon Centric employees who have given me suggestions on products always tell me that if I don't like the product I can come back and return it - which I really never do. This ONE time I tried a couple new products that dried out my hair, literally used two spritz of each and immediately knew I would have to return it. When I show up with my receipt and my products, the sales clerk immediately took a negative attitude with me and said they don't accept returns on used products. I was surprised as I have been told numerous times that you can bring back an item that doesn't work for you - also, given it's MINIMAL usage and my lack of return history, I'm shocked that this would be such an issue. She then proceeds to open one of the bottles, smells it, and says that it doesn't smell like the same product...WHAT ON EARTH are you talking about lady??! I was so offended that someone would even accuse anyone of something like that. Oh yeah I bought a 10 dollar styling product two weeks ago, used it all up, and then filled it with something else to return it...I don't think so. It's a shame because I've been loyal to this location since it's so close to home, but I was so turned off by this interaction that I'll definitely never come back. I have shopped at this store on and off for many years. They offer a large array of products, friendly knowledgeable staff and great customer service. My only issue is with corporate management. Within the last year or two "Management" has decided that it will not provide "Bags" for purchased products. Bags are only available if are willing to pay "extra" for a bag. Tacky, tacky cheap and greedy. Just more money in the pockets of the fat cat CEO's & corporate management. So the $200.00 I spend on products isn't enough for you; you have to charge me an additional $1.50 or whatever it is you charge for a simple bag, to put my $200.00 of merchandise in, to get it out to my vehicle. When I had my choice of a three star OK rating or a four star good, or a five star great; you only scored an OK-3 because of your "Bag" Policy. read more

Store for COSMETIC PROFESSIONALS ONLY. I decided to tag along with my mom today to go buy beauty supplies to restock her store. Why not--when she can get OPI nail polish and my favorite Pureology shampoo/conditioner for cheaper? Out of all the cosmetic/beauty supply stores I've ever visited with her, this store by far, is the most impressive. We were greeted the instant we walked in and the workers were very friendly and welcoming. Being a typical Asian bargain shopper, my mom wanted to know what special sales were going on this month and they responded patiently and they were very eager to help. In between jobs last night, I was running around like a mad person and made it here 30 minutes before closing. There was only one girl working (I didn't catch her name) and the store was busy. However, she worked quickly and efficiently while answering other customer's questions. In the midst of the chaos I had left my wallet, which I hadn't discovered until I got home from work late last night. I assumed I had left it in my car until I received a phone call this morning from Salon Centric asking me if I was in yesterday and informing me I had left my wallet. Diane was super sweet and helpful and didn't make me feel like the complete idiot I was feeling like for casually leaving my wallet behind. Came in today, the person at the counter was very helpful with getting me set up with my membership. They have a good selection.

The availability of the products is better than what is available for professional tools and accessories (very small section of brushes, bobby pins etc). They mainly have Redken, Pravana and some other brands but even from whats available they don't have a wide selection and there's a lack of variety in sizes for some of the products. The customer service is hit or miss, in general its pretty good. Although one time I went to buy one chemical product for a co-worker (and she needed the product right away for the appointment at the same time) and the lady in front of me was taking forever to update her account information and she even left during the middle of the transaction to use the restroom when it was time to check out. Since there was only one cashier at the time I had to wait about 15-20 minutes to buy one item. Which is fine but it would've been better if she had asked if I could go first since my transaction would've been much quicker. Overall its ok for professional products as long as you know they only offer a certain selection of the product line that you may need. I have been to many beauty supply stores in the area, I'm talking about Cosmoprof, San Jose beauty supply, Sally or even the one in the Eastside of SJ "Tully beauty supply", none of them are actually live up to my standard. Hands down Salon Centric is by far has the best costumer service, and the most organized clean store I have ever been too. The staffs are very helpful and friendly. They all know my name and greeted me the minute I open the door and let me know what's on sale and always ask me if I need help with anything. They even call me on my phone sometime if there's any promotions and keep me up to date with all the produts they sell there. Formerly named Malys. This is now called Salon Centric because Malys was bought out by Loreal. Salon Centric is a local pit stop to licensed professionals only and is not open to the public, unfortunately. They've introduced new skincare products and I'm a huge fan! Everything is discounted wholesale price and the brand names are endless. I shop here for haircare, skincare, and tools. I love it! I highly recommend the soy candles! When you light them the wax turns into massage oil. read more

Apparently, you are allowed to come and look at merchandise if you QUIETLY walk in, but if you openly walk up to the counter and show them your enrollment papers, but have no id, they will NOT let you to even LOOK at merchandise. I love going to this Salon Centric. Every time I visit this store, everyone is always so friendly and helpful. I wish I knew the names of the two ladies I always see. One has vivid colored hair and the other is a brunette. Anyway, they are both so great!! I wish all the beauty supply stores and other Salon Centrics were like this one. I love getting most of all I need in Salon Centric, am still use to calling them Maly's, but this store is my favorit to come by when I need products or information about anything. The one in Colma is my store to go to. Everytime I'm there I leave with a lot of samples and great services. Pravana is there now and that is also cool. I brought my first set of shears there and they are still sharp. I got them like three years ago. When I was a student I didn't have any issue getting my card unlike Cosmo Prof in Daly City, man there were many issue. I love Salon Centric. And it's one of my favorit place to be. read more

I just got off the phone and finally got the help I was so desperately searching for and Lillian was so kind and willing to go the extra step in her customer service. I had called the other SC store prior to calling this one and the lady there was rude and distracted. I was left feeling frustrated!!!! Let me start out by saying this review is not intended for the Winchester store, but the salon centric in Los Gatos on Los Gatos Blvd. I have been in the hair industry for 10 years and have never come across 2 woman as rude as the ones at this store! I walk in and was not greeted, but clearly noticed. I was never approached to ask if I needed any help. Strangely enough the next girl to walk in the door was cheerfully greeted and got the help she needed. After spending a good amount of time in the store, I was ready to check out. My mother owed me some money so the plan was for her to buy a gift card, and for me to use the gift card to pay for my items. (please note that I received this idea from the lovely ladies at the Winchester location, and my other cosmo friends who have done this exact same thing). When I mentioned this to the young sales girl, and what looked like her older manager (though I'm not sure) they laughed. They said that they don't do things the same as the salon centric Winchester location and that it would not be allowed in their store. After reminding them that they are a company and not privately owned, therefore they can't create nonsense rules, they quickly changed their mind and said "we'll allow it this once but don't ask us again". The young sales girl then knocks my basket over sending my products and nail polishes rolling and falling on the counter and ground, and begins to ring them up. I could have let all this go and could have kept my cool until I hear the older lady laugh and say to herself "that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard what are they thinking." RUDE. However, out of the hundreds of times I've been to the Winchester location, I have never had a bad experience! They are always so kind and helpful and really go out of their way to help you! Came to this store to buy a few pravana colors with promotion posted up the shelf if purchased 12 chroma silk you get a free developer so I grabbed one. Went to the register and Lydia was at the front. I mentioned the promo for the free developer and I get an instant rejection that it was not free. Not a big deal since I was there for the pravana colors anyway, but Lydia kept repeatedly say no no no and talking to her coworker about checking skew numbers and left me standing there for a good 15mins while they try to figure out if it was free or not. I don't work the register or anything but I'm pretty sure if you type in the promo skew number u can figure out if it's going to be deducted from your total amount or not. Lydia and her co worker was at the other register talking amongst themselves that the other girl rang up somebody that day and the skew number worked for that promo but Lydia insisted that it is not valid. Whatever I dont care about the developer anymore I've been standing here for 15 minutes while u guys over arguing about something that Is so simple to figure out. "Hello I'm still standing here can't I pay for my stuff so I can get out of this he'll hole?!" I WILL NEVER COME TO THIS LOCATION EVER AGAIN! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! !!! read more

i love this Maly's because not only is it near my home... but they are always stocked with the Redken color i need for my job as a hairstylist. its nice to come to a place where you are allowed to purchase the products, as long as you are currently licensed into the cosmo world... or at least... in school training to get to that point one day. the ladies there have always been friendly & its a bonus because they sometimes offer classes at this location too. read more
