I love Sephora but I hate this store. Aside from the store not being as large other bay area locations, this store has a good variety of products. The staff is friendly and helpful as they should be. However, the one reason I can't stand this store is that every time I come in, the cosmetic samples are a total mess-- chewed up, smeared, mixed, and unstraightened, and the makeup removers+ supplies are always empty. I'm unsure if they leave the products like this until the end if the night to avoid cleaning things over and over, but that's part of the job, in my opinion. It makes for an unpleasant experience for a customer who's looking to test products. If you know what you want, this store is ok to shop at, assuming they have the product in stock, but if you're looking to try things out or have a makeup lesson, go the location in Valley Fair Mall or Stanford Shopping Center. read more

I think the exceptional customer service here warrants a review! I really wish I remembered the name of the associate who was at the register. Although the lines were long, she took the time to figure out the different size boxes and bags I needed to wrap my gifts (and I had MULTIPLE). She never rushed me or gave me any indication that she wanted to whisk me off my way without helping me. The selection here is pretty decent too! It's not as large as the Sephora at Valley Fair. But they do have this Stila foundation powder that's apparently only at this location. The store associates also always greet you upon entrance and ask if you ever need any consultation or advice on make up products. I've been asked if I needed help while I was in the front where the make-up is, the side section where perfumes are, and also in the back where all of the skincare items are! I LOVE coming to this Sephora for all my makeup necessities! :) read more

I LOVE Sephora, but this particular location is one of my favorites! I love the selection that Sephora has. There is something for everyone, even if you're taking your little sister shopping. They have cute stuff for the younger lady. I absolutely love the Sephora make-up selection! The make-up is great and the price is even better. No doubt, I have my heart set on MAC make-up, but most of the time it just gets too expensive. So, when I shop at Sephora, I can buy twice as much stuff here with the same amount I would have spent at the MAC store. Certainly, depending on the brand, prices are different. The Sephora brand is not pricey at all, but if you'd like to try something different they also have NARS, Urban Decay, Too-Faced, Bare Escentuals, etc. As you can see, you have a wide selection of brands to choose from. I love the Sephora lipglosses in particular! Nice selection of colors..glitter or shine. I love the squeeze-tube ones they have as well as the Ultra Shine Lip gloss (with the stick applicator). So, now that we've established my love for all Sephora locations. The reason why I love THIS particular location is because its not crowded, like the Valley Fair or Palo Alto locations; this location is ALWAYS clean; they always have product in stock..oh and did I mention they know how to keep this place CLEAN? I love it! Moreover, the service at this Oakridge location is superb. The girls are really nice, and they're always very helpful. This Sephora is very well managed! The customer service is excellent. The workers are knowledgeable on all of their products and extremely helpful. This Sephora is so clean. I feel like I can actually try out a mascara without getting an eye infection. This place is pretty much the only reason why I even step into Oakridge. The one at Valley Fair is pretty much awful. It's crowded and messy; it's just one big headache. So keep doing what you're doing! This is definitely the better Sephora to shop at. read more

Love this Sephora store! I went here to purchase Chloe (rose') perfume and theyt only had one sealed bottle on the shelf. I asked if they had a sample, the guy said no we don't... I said well I wish I could sample it before spending $90.00. He then opens the sealed bottle and said, they the heck just try it, you may like it... I totally bought it, it was the right scent and it was nice of him to open and let me sample the last perfume, now that's great customer service. read more

This make-up (foundation, concealer, and powder), hair, skin body scent, fragrance, lotion products, accessories is bright, airy with wide aisles, the staff always seem to be too busy, just wish they were more attentive to new customers walking in, rather than making a dash for the stock room or just turn their back and walk off in the other direction, very rude. They do however give free samples if you want to try something out before you make an item purchase. Store is located just passed the Macy's aisle row. Came in to repurchase a foundation and never have any issues. However, this time I came in and my color was not out (no biggie) figured I'd just ask an employee to check if there was any in the back. But there was no employees to be found all 4 of them were at the register but only 1 or 2 were working the registers. Finally found an employee and asked for help and she said she would be with me in a few min, so I went back to the section where my foundation was at and waited. All of a sudden 3 employees were on the floor walking around thinking oh great one of them is going to help me. But no. My boyfriend and I made eye contact with them, as well as the same girl that I spoke with and they just walked away they all seemed to stay on the opposite side of the store. I ended up just walking out and that's when we were acknowledged to "have a goodnight". read more

This location opened late May. I'm so glad there's now a Sephora in Oakridge. I used to have to trek to the one in Valley Fair, which is usually crowded on weekends. I love how you can test the products and colors before you buy them. Plus, if you're not satisfied with your purchase, you can return it. Yes, even if it's used! I love this Sephora. It's smaller yet easier to move around than the Valley Fair location. AAANNNDD they don't mean mug you, or suspect you of stealing their entire store. Some of the girls are snobby but a lot of girls who work in stores like Sephora are. Trust me, I've been to grocery stores and girls are snobby. It's like PLLEEEASE just bag my tomatoes so I can leave! Sheesh. So of course the girls working in "high end retail makeup" are gonna be snobby. But whatever, it's usually the younger ones. I got a lot of attention here but not too much. The kind that makes you feel welcome and that your business is welcome AND wanted. I usually get my makeup done at MAC for any event I attend and I have always been pleased with their work. I also recently tried another makeup artist Forever Makeup by Lily for my engagement photos and was extremely pleased and decided to use her on my wedding day. Unfortunately she isn't local so I decided to try Sephora this time because I had a gift card from there and there's a $50.00 minimum purchase. The store is filled with goodies, I could blow the gift card in a matter of seconds. I made an appointment for my makeup a month before the actual date. I specifically asked how long the appointment would take and they said 45-60 minutes tops. I arrived a few minutes early the day of my appointment (mind you this was for my engagement party so I was extremely stressed and wanted to look absolutely flawless). I checked in at the front and they said no worries we'll be right with you. "Right with you" turned into a 30 min. wait. I had an appointment for my hair at 4:00pm and it was 3:30pm once I finally got seated for my makeup. The guy helping me, Daniel was a nice guy, but I'm sorry his work is not good at all! His hands were super shaky and clammy. Throughout the whole makeup session I kept looking at the time and I told him I needed to be out of there by 4:00pm as I had a hair appointment I couldn't miss. He didn't have all of the makeup he needed so he kept stopping in the middle of the session and running around the store gathering makeup! Halfway through I asked him, do you add lashes he said yes! He didn't mention anything about a charge for the lashes, so I assumed spending $50.00 would cover the entire makeup session. Mid way through he said I have to go on my break, someone else will take over for me. I was ready to have a breakdown in the middle of the store because the clock read 4:30pm and I called my hair dresser to let them know the situation and she said I'm so sorry you're already 30 minutes late for your appointment we won't be able to take you today. I was almost in tears in the middle of the store. The girl that ended up taking over was completely rude and didn't even care I was late for my next appointment, she didn't even apologize! She said let me ring you up for the lashes and that's when I lost it. I didn't have another minute to spare as I was already late for all of my other appointments! They called the manager and I explained the situation to her and said you started me 30 minutes late and now I've missed my hair appointment and you want to charge me for lashes? My makeup was hideous by the way, the fact that I didn't start crying in the middle of the store was a miracle!! The manager didn't even apologize, she said just go as if it was my fault?! NEVER AGAIN WILL I RETURN TO THAT HORRIBLE STORE! I ended up having to retouch my makeup and my hairdresser fortunately felt so bad she ended up taking me, but I couldn't do the style I wanted to so I ended up just leaving my hair down and having it simple :( Don't even waste your time on this place, it's not worth it unless you'd like to ruin your day. Their customer service sucks!! Horror story from hell if you ask me! If I could give them 0 stars I would! 1 star is way too much of a compliment for this place! read more

I have been to another Sephora location a couple years ago and had a great experience with a mini-makeover consultation. Today I called the Oakridge Mall location to make an appt specifically for a foundation and lips consultation. The person on the phone who made the appt for me was very polite and helpful so I was excited to come down to the store today. When I arrived to told a sales person at the front with a clipboard and they asked me to wait a few minutes while they notified the person I was there. After a few minutes of walking around I made my way towards the beauty studio area and met the person who would be working with me. She seemed polite and friendly. We spoke and I reexplained why I was there- for a simple daily foundation and daily lip color since my current products were cakey and didn't last all day. She used the skin tool to check out colors for my foundation, then grabbed a few and came back over to start testing the foundations on my skin. She asked another employees opinion on which color looked best on my jawline and she decided to go with that one. She then decided to work on my eyebrows and eyes. I was not really sure why and probably should have asked, but I figured it was part of the appt. after spending about 30 mins on my brows and eyes she went back to my face and started the foundation process. There was not really discussion around the selection of brand/ price/ ease of use/ etc. Six steps and 15-20 mins later the foundation was done. Moisturizer, Primer, Foundation, Concealer, Powder, and Conture. Unfortunately I had learned nothing about applying it myself or how to select the right products for me based on skin type and budget. I had asked questions along the way, but honestly I think she was used to doing makeup as opposed to interacting with the customer and teaching. Around the time she was finished doing the foundation her manager must have checked in with her via the headset system because she replied about 10 mins. Then she moved onto lips. We discussed colors and she brought over some very pink lipsticks. I took out my phone to show her what I normally wear and felt comfortable with but she asked me if I was there to try something different. At that point honestly I was done. I asked how much longer did we have in the appt since I had heard the 10 mins comment previously. She said I can take longer to help you find the products. I said no, that was going to go get the $50 worth of stuff and leave because I didn't like the lip color or brows. At that point I made it over to the fragrance section feeling like (1) I had wasted over an hour of my day and (2) I had accomplished neither objective for going there which were both made very clear at the time the appt was set up and when we started the makeup session. Then to make things worse as I am over in the fragrance section I see her approach the manager(?) to discuss something. My husband and I got the feeling she was talking about me. Awkward.... Not sure if she thought I was going to go to her manager to complain about her, which I was not. I didn't make a scene, I had just ended the appt which was apparently already running long since I had obviously not been listened to at all. All of this made the experience very frustrating and upsetting. Then to make matters worse when I was asked at the checkout counter when purchasing my fragrance if I had found everything I needed and I quietly said not really there was no further questions, just thanks for shopping at Sephora and here's a bag and receipt. Apparently listening to and helping the customer is not part of the experience at this Sephora location. With that in mind, I will not be coming back to this location and I will be taking my business elsewhere. THANKS FOR NOTHING! read more

i like this Sephora SOOOOOOOOO much more than the valley fair Sephora. The service is USUALLY good but sometimes you get a snob. Overall though, they are super sweet even if you come in looking like a hot mess. The sephora products themselves are very competitive with the other stuff in there and I usually end up buying their liners and shadows. Sephora is like a shiny beacon in the mall that I'm always drawn to even if I don't need anything! I love the variety or products, the cleanliness and generally the store. I find the associates that work here are very hit and miss. That's really too bad because when you find a really great employee here, it really enhances the experience! I usually do my own research on products, and already know what I want when I walk through the store. I came here because I'm a VIB Rouge and had a wedding and a friends' grad party and decided to milk the crap out of my free makeovers for the year. I don't remember my first make-up artist's name but she was really good and did a good job matching my skin tone and giving me the full coverage I wanted without it looking extremely cake-y. The false lashes stayed on the whole night. The second time I had Sasha, who was willing to listen and add on to my makeover like I asked her. I got falsies this time too, danced and sweated the whole night and they still didn't come off. I showed her a picture of the outfit I wore to the party and she matched it pretty well in terms of make up. Also they carry Stila, which Valley Fair doesn't. Minus one star because they don't have an express checkout like other Sephoras do for those who get makeovers. read more

I was heartbroken when my Kat Von D tattoo liner dried out so I went to this location in search of the perfect eyeliner pen. This is the closest Sephora to my house and I frequent it quiet often. Sometimes 3-4 times a week (I'm a junkie, what can I say?). That being said, I think I've been helped by everyone in the store. I think I once had to hunt someone down to get help, but I usually get help really quickly. They have no issues giving out samples, or helping you match foundation, or even helping me hunt for the shade of lipstick I'm looking for. If I can buy it from Sephora, I like to as I like their reward program, and I like their return policy. Especially since I have sensitive skin and what seemed okay in the store has me broken out the next day. I like this store and that I when I say I don't need help, they leave me alone and don't hover. I like to browse a lot and have usually read up on the product before going. Unless I have no clue what to get and then I ask and they have great advise. I'll be back and probably a lot sooner than my pocket book would like. read more

I love this Sephora! Comparing it to Valley Fair's location: this one has a better setup, the employees here are so helpful and it's never super crowded here. I love that they have makeup specialists to help you with anything you need and they are very honest about their products and they take the time to help you. My girlfriend and I came here on a search for a new foundation and the perfect color to match our skin tones. The makeup artists did an amazing job on finding the perfect BB creme for my girlfriend. Instead of showing her just one type and saying this is the one, she showed her 3 different brands of BB creme and explained the difference of each one and which is best for each skin type. The makeup artist helped me as well find a great foundation and matched my skin tone perfectly! read more

Even though this is probably going to be a lot like any other old Sephora stores, currently it's the cleanest one. Lol. All the makeup's clean, almost new, and almost makes you feel like you can try things on without getting an eye infection. Okay, half kidding on the eye infection thing, but you have to be careful! While I love Sephora, I would order my products online before I drive the 6 miles to get to this store. I visited this mall, while exploring my new town and was not very impressed. I went to this mall specifically to go to Sephora and was somewhat disappointed. The store was packed, displays were sloppy and tester products were dirty. I went back in there over the weekend to pick up the new Hello Kitty Fragrance. I walked in and couldn't find it, so I asked an associate. She gladly showed me where it was and let me look around. She noticed I seemed to be looking for something I couldn't find. And asked me if i need help. I told her I was also looking for the lip balm. She got another associate right on it, even when the other said "I think that's all we have", she said "No, there's more that we don't have room to display. Please look". And she went, found the TINY little lip balm (not complaining about the size, but the fact that she went through hella trouble to find a small item for me). They were all super sweet and helpful. As I am a VIB member, I come into this Sephora very often and continuously get great service. The staff here is extremely friendly and always willing to help. As often as I buy makeup from Sephora, I recently found out that they make samples of different foundations for you to try out before you jump right in and buy them. I'm slowly running out of my Benefit Flawless foundation and although its super light, I don't think it gives me the kind of coverage I want. As I told my stylist this, she went on and explained to me all the different types of foundations I should try and whether they had a matte or glow finish to them. She went ahead and matched me with a few foundations like Urban Decay's Naked, Make Up Forever'd HD, and Laura Mercier's Silk Creme. I really liked the Naked and Silk Creme, but I definitely liked the lightness and coverage of the Silk Creme more. The downside is that they were pretty low stocked when I decided to go ahead and just buy the foundation, they were extremely under stocked. They didn't have my color in either the Naked or Silk Creme so I was pretty bummed. However my stylist told me to check back in a couple days when they get their shipment. She also have me a sample of the Silk Creme to let me use until they restocked. Awesome! All in all, I love the customer service at Sephora. Everyone knows what they're talking about and they're all very passionate about what they do! read more

I don't know where to start with my experience. I was pretty much ignored for 20mins and I didn't get any help until I asked someone to help me out. Once I got someone to help me out, they took me to some makeup sales lady (I think she was like a guest makeup artist?) who was helpful with what she was selling me but the foundation made my skin look way too cakey. I felt bad as she's a makeup artist for that specific brand so it isn't her job to help me find a foundation from another brand and it was really hard to tell her that I didn't like the foundation. The lady that took me to her bounced out without me knowing so it was super awkward walking away from the makeup artist. I gave up trying to find someone to help me, so I just got the foundation I've tried before because no one was helpful. I just felt so tired and exhausted by the end of this whole ordeal. I still purchased what I needed but generally feel super bummed out by this experience since I love Sephora but I hope more stores open around south San Jose so I can avoid coming to this store. read more

I agree with Justine. Some of the workers here are very friendly, while others are a bit on the unfriendly side and walk past you as if you didn't exist. The good thing is that there are a lot of workers here, so you can always find someone else who will help you out, answer your questions or recommend a product great for you. I came here on Tuesday with my mom because she wanted to try out Bare Escentuals. We would have gone to the actual store itself since it's a few stores down in the mall, but I wanted to use a gift card I had gotten for Sephora. The girl that did the color match on my mom didn't choose the foundation color right for her. Instead, she put makeup over the makeup my mom was already wearing. How are you going to get the right color if someone walks in wearing other product? She wasn't too friendly and just half-assed the makeup application. Can you say LAZY? My mom and I walked over to the Bare Escentuals store and was helped by someone who was not lazy and knew what the hell they were doing. His name was Jesus. Stay tuned for my review on Bare Escentuals... If you get someone like we got when we went to Sephora, I'd ask someone else for help. I am not the type to require help at a Sephora. I know exactly what I want (Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals make up: C30) and am quite able to find it on my own but yesterday I did need help in choosing a moisturizer. Alas, no one helped me. Pity, since they could have made a lot of money off of me since I tend to drop a few Franklins when purchasing make up, perfume and nail polish. Not one single employee came to my rescue as I was overwhelmed by the vast display cases of neatly presented facial items. I did get a lot of "Hi"'s and "Hello"'s but no one even bothered to ask me if I needed help as I stood there dazed and confused in the vast land of products. This is quite the opposite of my experience at the Valley Fair Mall. I would approach a sales person to ask a question but they just flew past me as if I were invisible. The store wasn't even crowded; like 4 customers were there (myself included). I would have been out of the store faster and on to more shopping at other stores if some one would have just reached out and answered my questions. The girl at the check out counter was gorgeous. Her make up, lipstick, eye lashes and eye liner was so attractive I couldn't pay attention to what she was communicating since I was drawn to her beauty!!! I called a few days prior to make sure I can return some products that I didn't have packaging for and the woman over the phone said to bring it in for store credit. I was very happy about that! Today I went in to return the two items I purchased and unfortunately experienced horrible customer service from the cashier named Desiree. She might have been having a bad day or something, but I have worked retail and owned my own business in Oakridge mall and can notice when customer service is a little off. Even my aunt who is visiting from Germany noticed her attitude. She barely talked to me and made me feel like I am on her time. I tried asking her they carry any eyeliners similar to MAC fluidline and she all she said was "yes we have eyeliners" and that was it. Did not suggest anything and went on with the transaction. Talk about being short!! Then the other cashier overheard me asking and suggested I try their makeupforever creamliner and even brought over one of their makeup artists to show me how to apply it. That was what I was expecting when I asked the question...I think the other cashier needs a little more training in the customer service area. Ty he showed me how to apply the liner and gave me pointers and was really nice, and so was the pregnant woman who greeted me in the front. This is the second time I have had a bad experience at a Sephora retail store...the last time was at the Valley Fair location. It's sad because I love the store unfortunately some of the employees don't know how to provide good customer service. This is my main location to go to. They have great brands and they sell loads of perfumes on either sides of the walls. I was here two days in a row and both times, greeting was a hit or miss. But if they saw you with a bag in your hand walking out, you can be sure they said "bye" to you. I wish I knew his name, his name tag was hiding, he was so helpful and even though he was having a bad day, which he said which is not professional, he helped us as if he had a grand day at work. When I said I was on a budget and decided not to get the perfume I had just fallen in love with, he decided to open it up and make me a sample. He was the "head of perfume" guy and I am sure anyone could do that but it made me feel extra special lol. I also had a facial and Tia was very helpful in suggesting things that I did not like. This Sephora location is fine. The sales staff is fairly knowledgeable, but sometimes I get frustrated when I just want to browse and they continue hovering over me, asking if I need any help. I understand there's not way for them to know that I've been doing make up for years, and I come here because it's much less pretentious then MAC, but still. One gal will ask if I need help, I politely decline, turn the corner into another aisle, and the next gal will ask the same question - no thank you! I also don't particularly care for this location because they don't carry Paula Dorff, one of my favorite brands - I highly recommend her "sweep away" clean up stick. I went in here a couple weeks ago with my little sister to do some Christmas shopping and as we were walking around the store I noticed a young lady CONTINUOUSLY following me.. it made me really uncomfortable but I didn't pay much mind to it..until 3 other women started following me too!!!! honestly customer service is so important, I love Sephora but man... this AWFUL experience makes me never want to shop there again. The makeup selection is a little less compared to Valley Fair but I feel like its more intimate here and the employees are everywhere & willing to help. They have most of the brands any makeup Junkie would want or need for ex. Benefit, Hourglass , Nars, Laura Mercier and a few more. The skin care is seperate from the makeup and is in the back of the store which I really like. The cusomer service is excellent. I made a return today and the girl was so helpful, and polite even wished my a Happy New Year. I highly reccommend coming to this Sephora if you are in the area. read more

This review is strictly for Antone. I have been coming to this Sephora for years and never felt so strongly about writing a review regarding an employee. This is the place where I had my wedding makeup and makeup up for special occasions, my go to for all my beauty essentials! On April 14th Friday afternoon, I walked in to check out some skin care products. I was specifically looking for Farsali serum. To my surprise Sephora doesn't carry this product but I did find a 24k gold firming mask by Peter Thomas Roth. I asked Antone for a sample. He made me feel so uncomfortable and embarrassed for asking. This was his response: "Um sure I will make you a sample but let me tell you something. If you were in employer and hired a new employee who worked wonderfully for three days and then left without notice how would you feel? Sad right. Well it's the same concept for your skin and this amazing product. I will make you a sample but just keep that in mind because samples are strictly for allergy testing. You should only ask for them if you are going to commit yourself to this product." On Monday morning I called to speak to the store manager that was on duty. She apologized and offered a complementary mini facial or makeover. She also apologized about the way that Antone approached the situation and mentioned that he is passionate about skincare and for me to understand his point of view. Is he a licensed esthetician? Is he a dermatologist? If I felt like I needed a professional opinion I would go to a doctors office or a spa. My favorite thing about Sephora not only do you get points for every dollar you spend but you can also test product's out before buying them. The samples are my favorite part of shopping at Sephora. The only reason I do not go to Macy's, Ulta, Nordstrom's or MAC. If a client is asking to test out a product whether it's make up, skincare or fragrances it shouldn't come with listening to staff's opinion unless of course you're asking for it. What's strange is having asked for samples here before and never experiencing something like this. What's funny is that instead of wasting all that time you should've been paying attention to the middle school girls that were stealing from the store.
