Can't wait for summer to dive into the fun bright colors. Tommy does an amazing job with my pedi and he always makes me feel so relaxed. I don't have to worry about him cutting me or being aggressive. He does such a great job that if I close my eyes, I would probably fall asleep, lol. They were able to accommodate within calling 1 - 2 hours from the time I was able to come in. Once I arrived there were only two people working an about 5 people there for the service. The quality was ok, but not good nor great. I was stabbed and my cuticle was cut higher than needed, it felts as if my actual finger was getting little pricks. Also it was a bit messy/dirty . Yesterday was my second time here. I came back because Tam did a good job on my nails the first time around. This time, I was not happy. The nail shape was not the same on each hand. The nails on the left were a little longer. I told her about it and she just did a flat straight file over them without looking at the other nails to compare. I later asked if she could round out the edges since I noticed one was pointy, plus the edges on my right nails were more rounded out. Again, she filed them without looking and didn't get the shapes to match so I still wasn't happy. I had called and asked to come in at a specific time. Someone else walked in a few minutes after me, so I feel like maybe she was trying to rush with me. It didn't seem like she really cared when I asked her to fix my nails because she didn't say a word. There weren't options:/ I picked a color they didn't have or couldn't find, replaced with something somewhat similar and kept saying "pretty color" over and over to make up for not having the color I requested. First time visit. Found this place from a friend inviting me out to get our nails done. I chose the color #27 and it was $30 for a gel polish manicure. Let's start off with the positives: + a good selection of gel polish colors + they give you a brief neck / shoulder massage, that was different than other nail salons I've been to. I think my session took less than 45 minutes Some things that could be improved: - cash only. I never have cash in my wallet. Usually enough for tip. I had to go to the bank to withdraw money - pricing is a bit more than other places I've been to. If you're going to require cash only, pricing should reflect that. Other places offer a discount if you pay cash - more communication with the customer on what they're doing. Went in last weekend for a powder dip manicure. I've had this type of manicure done for several years and know how long it lasts, which is usually 3-4 weeks and never chips or breaks. After one week of having this done, several of my nails are chipped. The process was not done correctly either. The technician also tried to put the light on my nails, as if I was getting a gel manicure. One of the nice things about powder dip is no light. I had to stop her from doing that. They also advertise their powder is organic but upon looking up the product, it isn't organic. Lastly, they missed steps in the process, such as a base coat. It makes sense why this is chipping so soon. I work in a professional setting and I'm upset my nails look the way they do so soon after the manicure. read more

I'm not sure how anyone could be disappointed in the level of service that they receive here. Nancy and Amy are wonderful and professional! I have been getting my nails and pedi's done by Nancy and Amy for the past 2 1/2 - 3 years (when they were at TN) and have never left disappointed or unhappy. My mom, my daughter and a friend of mine are also long time customers of Nancy and Amy and share in my sentiments. It saddens me that people are saying that Nancy and Amy "Pirated" customers from TN, especially since they didn't have access to customers phone numbers or any contact information. Also, pricing is competitive, not pirated! I was a loyal customer to Nancy and Amy, NOT Tina's Nails! In fact, when I found out the Nancy and Amy left I was worried about who and where I was going to get my nails done. I ended up going to a place in SJ until I was contacted via Yelp by Nancy (because she had seen me on Yelp before via my review of TN) letting me know that they would be opening their own salon. Additionally, isn't it the American dream to start your own business and be your own boss? How could anyone fault anyone for following the American dream? And if I'm not mistaken every manicurist must attend some sort of formal training to earn a certificate, so how could the owner of one salon teach someone "everything they know"? It saddens me that a small business owner would "trash talk" another aspiring business owner, especially in such a small community. Additionally - very tacky to disclose a personal tragedy on Yelp! Love Modern Nails! I usually have my nails filled/repainted in San Jose but thought I'd try something closer to home. I had my acrylics filled & gel color put on, along with a design I showed Nancy a picture of - and she recreated it perfectly! My daughter had a mani-pedi done and said that usually the manicures hurt a little, but she said, "Mommy, this doesn't even hurt!!" I like that it is quiet, spacious (you don't feel like sardines in a can in this place!), Nancy is really friendly and so gracious! Her mother did my pedicure and foot massage - amazing! When we came in, I was given a bottle of water & my daughter was given a juice pouch. Sweet! When her mani-pedi was dried, they offered her a snack which I thought was really sweet (even if it is something they normally do, I found it to be really nice). Word of mouth is great. My daughter took me here after a friend of hers said she had a great experience. The location is a little rough. I would not want to stop in by just driving by. Turns out this was a new establishment (6 or 8 months) and it was their first attempt at a nail shop. We made appointments but still had to wait a little. Yet this turned out to be ok because they gave us a stack of shellac color swatches to choose our color. There was so many to choose from. Amy got started on my nails and worked quickly. She didn't file too roughly and cut my cuticles gently. My polish came out perfectly even with no sloppy messes on my skin. I was very happy. But the best part hasn't even begun yet! I'm really disappointed. The pedicure itself was nice and affordable, but 7 out of 10 of my nails chipped within a week. I returned to the salon to see if they would fix this, as my pedicure usually lasts at least a month. They offered to fix it, but told me to find my color as they would only touch up the edges. I chose four colors that looked close, and the tech pulled a different color. She quickly slapped this random color on the edges of my nails, and walked away. Once in the sunlight, i realized how off the color was, and now it looks like I have badly done pink on pink french tips. Sweet. Also saw several people who had appointments here waiting for techs who took walk-ins or were too busy answering phones. Guess I won't be back :( read more

I always browse the colors even though I typically decide on a red or nude (a bright red this time). Lisa did an excellent job on my nails (although I'm not sure she's still working here). This place is awful. They do not respect your appointment time. It was my first and last time. Went to get regular manicure and pedicure, and I saw they have eye lashes extensions. I said it was my first time and the lady walked me into the room patch my eyes with masking tape. Wait for the eyelashes lady that I asked what sizes they have, and she completely ignored me n even say : yeah yeah yeah! She doesn't know what she is doing, no certification and no care for customers She did not made the glue allergy test on my skin and star glueing lashes on my eyes. I thought, it's my first time- she will choose a set of lashes that will make mine look full. I tried to call my daughter with my Iwatch to ask her if what they were doing was right, and another lady cake in removed my iwatch while my eyes were patched n started waxing my arms n I never asked for it. I felt on the process that she wasn't wearing gloves. When she was done n saw my fake lashes so long n nothing like I wanted, I said what's this n the lady just smile n said --- pretty !! I went the next day to remove them because my eyes were so red n without knowing what she was doing she put cotton with water on my eyes patch them masking tape n help someone else. My eyes were burning n I want the eyelashes removed right away While she patched my eyes, she walked in the room someone else n left me behind. I waited for 30 minutes, water was running on my face n I removed the patches n saw that the lady that was supposed to removed my lashes was helping a walk-in. I walked out of that place mad, letting them know that if I make an appointment they should respect my time take care of me . Just because they got their money the day before n the next day I went not to get my money back but to get the f***** up job on my lashes removed , they didn't care . I went to an Organic nail salon by MR Hongs n as I walked in they took care of me right away as the lady saw my eyes how red they were n removed my lashes in 30-40minutes. She said they did horrible job, put too much glue on my lashes, stick the fake lashes in my skin, n that they didn't do the job correctly. I got a text message from modern nails after 3 hours the lady said Come back n I'll give you 50% OFF ... for what !? For ruining my eyes n giving me an allergy for just make money, don't take care of customers n over charged me? When they over charged me $30for my manicure n pedicure n they give me change expecting tip. When I saw how much they charge me n compare their prices on their list, I was pissed. Because I could not see with the bad job she did with my lashes. She charged me like I got gel on my manicure n pedicure when I didn't even get a massage in either hands or feet, she hurted my eyes, eye lids n put some much glue in my eyelashes n stick the fake lashes in my skin. The Organic salon lady was able to save my natural lashes . I could feel how much glue was in my lashes as she was removing them. Do not go to this place, they no not care for service, they over charge you n they don't care about personal higiene or sanitising hands or equipment. They just care about taking your money.
