I had this spa on my radar for about 2 years since I moved to the area. I changed my regular skin care routine and I am finicky with skin applications like cleansers and moisturizers for my skin. So now that spas are open again and I am more confident for an office visit, I booked an appointment with Minh. SO. GLAD. I. DID. The spa itself is in Blossom Valley near, Branham area an upstairs unit, located in a business complex with a Dentist and other Salons too. Easy find no sweat find the stair case seems kinda hidden on the right side of the complex. I got a pretty good skin assessment for my type and I choose the Anti aging facial for my skin type to soak in all the extras. I like most people that work play and also go to school as an adult have stressors in life. No biggie. By management stress levels are high with me because I take risks, adapt to change and keep my head up and moving forward in life. Spa visits like 4 times a year including massages at locals spas I don't take Minh Ha care for granted. After my skin care analysis Minh got to her craft and did her work and face was cleansed and moisturized and had some extractions that were surprisingly less painful than most I have had at most salon spa service. This is top of the line work so expect to pay about $50 - $60 more than the average spa and or salon out their for a guy. The effects of the anti aging facial last I assume 2 - 3 months or 2-3 more times than the average facial, sans head and shoulder massage. I take pride in my skin I had one pretty significant accident tanning In Vegas in my younger days that left some damage to my face and cant afford lower if barely less self esteem if that makes some sense. Minh did a careful assessment of my skin, she followed up on the q and a, took pictures and asked some easy to answer health questions. I recommend Mihn Ha if you have the patience and time to work with her expertise and she is licensed for those that want to know. Be mindful of time and answer all questions to help with insight. Okay... Where should I start? I start having break out since I was in Highschool. Since then, I have been looking for ways to reduce my break out. I have tried many - Yes many... - products, doctors, dermatologists, medications, and 2 of the facial places in San Francisco but none of it helps. I took different kind of antibiotics and acne creams that was prescribed to me by my doctor for about a year but it doesn't works. After that, I tired 2 facial places that were recommended on Yelp. I was advised to try their acne facials and also tried the chemical peels for over a year. I keep telling myself to give it some time and hope it will get better. Just want to share this hidden gem located in the Almaden Valley area. I had been looking for a place where I can go to for men's facial and I think I have found the place. I called Minhha on a late Sunday afternoon asking if she had time to do a facial before my trip. Not only did she make time, but she went above and beyond what the facial service called for and also treated some dry skin blotches that I no longer get. She took her time telling me what each of the solution is suppose to treat and do. Also, she kept checking to make sure I was fine and always making sure I was enjoying the experience and was comfortable at all times. There is nothing worse than finding a highly rated place on YELP, going there, and getting bad service. I HATE that there are so many good reviews, yet my experience there was horrible. I went half an hour before they closed so I knew it was going to be a bit rushed. The girl before me went 10minutes into my time so my appt was pushed back. Basically Minh was in such a rush she was gobbing on the wax and ripping it off as soon as possible. I've been waxed several times and never have I experienced such pain. The two Ibuprofen did NOTHING. I felt like Steve Carell in 40 Year Old Virgin-KELLY CLARKSON! Then the girl working Beauty 101 knocked letting Minh know it was closing time. Honestly, Minh knew that we were not going to have enough time so she shouldn't have scheduled me. I left feeling completely dissatisfied. It was not a Brazilian, there was still hair left. When I asked her to clean up she said that she didn't have time. Granted she gave me the first time discount, but so does everyone else. It was $45 and then I added a tip. She pushes you to purchase products, when I went up to pay, she slipped the girl some products. I was so confused when she said we'd have to do two transactions: one for the wax and another for the lotions and scrubs Minh brought up. When I said I didn't want the products, the girl completely understood, as in Minh does this to most of her customers. I received a call a month later, Minh claimed we booked an appointment. When I said no, she asked " you don't want to see me?" Talk about a guilt trip. I'm sorry but with such a bad experience there is no way I am going to spend $55 with someone that rushed me out. Considering the time constraint she should have told me that we didn't have time and booked me another day. The experience was agonizing. She clearly needed more time, she rushed through, and left wax on my goodies. She gobbed it on, the wax was waaay too hot for my hooha and I will never go there to get a Brazilian. You've got to be V.careful in that area. I'm sure Minh is great but my experience did not demonstrate such. I recently moved to San Jose and was way overdue for a facial. I used to go to a really cheap place in the city, a room at the back of a hair salon, so I had no urge to go to an expensive all-out spa. I believe you can get the same high quality treatment anywhere. When I found SPA by Minh Ha, I knew I wanted to give her a shot since she had so many good reviews and she was just 10 min away from my house. I decided to get the anti aging facial. She was really good at explaining what she was applying to my face. I think the highlight of the facial was the cream she rubbed on. It felt nice when she was applying it on, my skin felt smooth at the time she applied it, but I honestly didn't see any improvements afterwards. Everyone has their own reasons for getting a facial and mine is the extraction part. I have built up blackheads on my nose and chin and I do a horrible job at it myself. When I asked Min if she would do extractions, she said yes. She ended up extracting two white heads and scratched my nose with her finger nail (with gloves on) to get the blackheads out (which really isn't effective at all). I don't expect to have all my blackheads removed, but I'd expect at least half extracted and by doing it the old fashion way - attacking each one. I was also expecting a mask, which I didn't get. She tried to sell me her other services while giving me a facial - other kinds of facial, eye facial, eyebrow and eyebrow tint. She also sold me on dermalogica products, which I've tried before, so I knew they were good products. I ended up buying a facial wash, exfoliating scrub and active moist. FYI the room can get pretty hot. By the end of the facial, I was sweating. She was trying to find samples for me and I was literally about to pass out because I couldn't breathe. I've been going here for my eyebrows for 3-4 years now, and I can't ask for someone better. Minh has a really good heart and genuinely cares for her customers a lot. She spends a lot of time perfecting the shape and cleaning up all the stray hairs if there are any. Other than waxing, I haven't tried her other services yet, but I know she's really popular for her facials (especially anti-aging), so if you're looking for a facialist, I'd say come here and try her out. Her prices are in the mid-range, not as cheap as those Asian places you see at the mall and not as high as those specialty spas, but you do get spa quality treatment here. I usually come after work since it's on the way home and it's always nice to relax to the soothing music she usually plays while she's working on you. Minh Ha came out, sat down next to me on a bench, chatted a little, then had me fill out a health form to make sure the waxing wouldn't have an adverse reaction due to any meds I might have been taking. Then she brought me into her little room which was way too hot, so she turned off the heater for me. First, I got a brow wax. She noticed that my skin is *extremely* sensitive to the wax, and decided to do the rest of the job with tweezers, which was fine by me. My eyebrows turned out great! Next was the Brazilian, which is never fun. However, Minh Ha was very professional. She trims first, then uses the blue hard wax throughout the procedure. The chair/table/bed thing that you have to lay on is a little odd, since there really is no leg support. I felt like I was cramping up a couple times, which sucked. She did a great job though, asking if I was doing okay, etc, and the waxing wasn't even that bad--it was the clean-up tweezing that hurt way more. The only thing I wasn't into is she is very heavy on the sales pitch. First place I've been to where I was asked to make my next appointment(s) on the spot--but I guess I could just as easily have said "No thanks, I'll call in". Whatevs, I won't dock her for that since she really is a nice lady and is just trying to ensure return customers. I've been going to see Minh Ha since moving to the area in Aug 2012. She is never anything less than professional, caring and considerate of her clients. She brought to my attention skin issues that I had been too busy to notice, and gave advice on how to resolve them (and yes, some of those recommendations were to use products she sells - but she is not offended if you decline her suggestions). I brought my mom here and Minh treated her with great care and made her feel very special. Minh also does outstanding eyebrow wax and shaping. Minh will also give you product samples to try and compare. She carries 3 lines if products (YongKa, Dermalogica and Jan Marini) and uses them in her treatments. Her anti-aging facial treatments have caused complete strangers to walk up to me and compliment on my beautiful "glow!" (no lie). Friends I hadn't seen in a while have also commented how well I look and I owe that to Minh. I would not have believed the difference without first-hand experience. If you are used to a full spa experience with rolling hills overlooking a lake, chilled champagne, cheese cubes with toothpicks and fruit sorbet, then this is not the place for you. Minh Ha is actually the best esthetician I've ever gone to. I used to go to her religiously when she used to work at InSpa at Santana Row. It's just plain luck that I found her again when she opened her own business. Location of it is at Beauty 101 (beauty supply)on Almaden and Branham Lane, at the same plaza as Osh Orchard Supply. She's great with hair removal, specifically brazilian wax. With the same hard wax she used at Inspa, and her own technique, it's almost painless. For $55, it's worth it. She works at her own time, so she will try to clean everything out for you. She will take ingrown hair out, and leave skin really clean and hair free. She is also good with eyebrow shaping. I haven't tried her facials, but she uses top of the line products too. I believe she uses the brand Yon Ka. read more

Services are rendered in a back room of Beauty 101, which is adjacent to the OSH at the corner of Branham & Almaden Expy. I don't think the person doing the waxing/services is always there, so be sure to set up an appointment. The actual room is clean, has a sink from which Minh washes her hands, and is set up in a very relaxing manner--complete with waterfall fountain, relaxing music, and foliage. The table that you lay on is like the one they use at the doctor's--she covers it with paper that is changed from customer to customer. Cleanliness and set-up is definitely a five out of five. I came in for an afternoon brow wax and was somehow cajoled into getting n brow tint as well. The brow waxing was the least painful waxing experience I have ever had. My brows are quite natural and even, while the tinting did make it look more full. Brow waxing is a four out of five. I was, however, really turned off by all the selling of other services, especially since I have difficulty saying no after being pressed multiple times. I think I'll be back, but I'm not quite sure. I found Minh Ha on Yelp about a year ago and decided to give it a try because of the good reviews here. I have been coming back regularly so it should say something. I come here for facial. When I started, my skin still had some acne and dark spots and not good skin texture. Minh Ha examined and skin and decided on the treatment that is targeting the problems my skin had. Over the time, my skin has gotten better with almost no acne. The skin texture becomes smoother, brighter with smaller pores. A lot of people have noticed and complimented on my skin. I am happy with the results. And this is why I keep coming back to her. Everybody's skin is different so you may need different types of treatment. But for me, the treatment I received here worked well with my skin. For the service, I like that Minh Ha is very clear about her treatment. She takes time to explain what she's doing and why. She informs you every step she applies something on your skin. This is what I found lacking at some other places that I've been to. She also doesn't go cheap with her products which makes total sense to me. If you want clients to come back, you have to do everything right and allow the results to show. Minh Ha is by far the best waxer I have ever gone to. I've been getting Brazilian waxes for over a year now, but this was the first time I've used her. I just moved to the bay area from Orange County, and I used to get waxed by 3 different girls in socal before I found one I liked - so I'm EXTREMELY picky. So coming up here, I wanted to find someone who was even better than my usual girl. I went on to yelp and tried to go to Velvet, but they were closed on the day I needed it - (you know when you have your own mental wax deadline! hehe) So I tried Minh Ha. She EXCEEDED all my expectations: 1. She's very reasonably priced - $55, and she just started a promotion where you get 5 waxes and the 6th is FREE!!!! (I get waxes consistently every 4 weeks because the growth down in my sweet spot gets less and less that way! So this will come in handy). 2. She's super nice and way sweet. She talked with me the whole time and you can tell she has really good energy about her. Like, for instance, she was able to take me early because her last appointment flaked. So I made a comment to her about how I can't stand flaky people, especially when it comes to business, and Minh Ha's response about the flaker was really zen: "I think she probably had some sort of emergency. I don't think she's a bad person, and hopefully she's ok." So Minh Ha seemed genuinely a nice lady, and for anyone handling my precious goods, that's crucial. 3. She's clean and her waxing room is clean and decorative with some pretty cool ambient music that puts you at ease. She has this one faux window treatment with her own artistic arrangement of the curtains. She also creatively managed to work with the fluorescent lighting by changing the way it looks with some sheer fabric. You can tell she really put some thought into the look and feel of the place and her main concern - which is to make the client feel comfortable. Oh yea, and she never double-dips. 4. She uses hard wax. Ok, ask anyone who's ever had her pubes ripped out of her with either soft wax or hard wax and you'd be quite daft and out of your freakin' mind if you'd choose soft. This is because hard wax somehow diminishes the pain. It's really amazing how wonderful hard wax is. Anyway, hard wax is more expensive, but Minh Ha explained to me she doesn't want to skimp on the wax and that to her, the client's comfort is her #1 priority - so she doesn't mind spending the dough. And what's cool is that even with that as an overhead cost, she still manages to give her customer a very fair, low price. 5. Ok, this is what really impressed me: after all the waxing was done, she even removed a few of my ingrown hairs! I had about four and she was very careful and delicate about it! Since then, my ingrown hairs haven't returned and have not given me any problems. Additionally, after she cleaned me up, she put this soothing stuff on my area and spritzed and sprayed it with some other skin-soothing goodness. Anyways, I take my hot spot very seriously and not everyone gets to touch it! So I'm careful about who does - and Minh Ha is definitely my designated waxer from here on out! read more

I was lost driving up and down Branham street trying to look for HOLLY MINI SPA...lol... She did a very thorough job on my Brazilian wax. However, she sounded sort of nervous when she found out that I'm Viet (I don't know why). She uses "hard" wax which claims to not hurt you as bad as the "soft" wax. But I do not agree with that. I recently visited my daughter in San Jose and she treated me to a facial by Minh Ha. I had previously had a facial in my hometown and really was not fond of it. However, with Minh Ha, it was wonderful. You are lying on a very comfortable bed which is heated. She is gentle and explains each step she is doing. I felt absolutely wonderful after the facial. My schedule is crazy and unpredictable. I LOVE how flexible she is. You absolutely can get a same day appointment with her. I have gotten a couple of eyebrow waxes and massages with her. Her massages are pretty good and she uses hot stones. She is also very meticulous with my eyebrows. Her rates are reasonable and she takes credit card. On the downside, she is kind of one person show and will answer her phone during an eyebrow wax-but not a massage. She is also trying to grow and maintain her business and will "suggest" other services. Not a good thing or bad thing, but she calls me (and probably all of her clients) baby or more accurately "bay-bi." First time to Ming Ha inside Beauty 101. Easy to find since the cross streets are just Branham and Alamaden Expwy and inside the Orchard Supply Plaza. It's a cute little space rented in the back of Beauty 101. She is a nice older woman, she didn't make me nervous when she was doing my Brazilian. Considering it was a brazilian, I would usually feel shy, but I wasn't in front of Minh. She uses hard wax, which i'm told is the best way to go. A few times it hurt, but it was because it was in sensitive areas, so I expected that. The only part that was still prickley was the top of my pubic area because I have shaved a few wks prior to this visit. Over all she did a good job for $55. Some places charge $65 and up and some places make you make an appointment 2wks in advanced. But I was able to make this appointment the day of because it was a spur of the moment thing.
