I stopped by today 12.13.2020 to buy a Christmas gift. It was around 1:40 pm, two person line at the door. I get in line and wait. Somebody leaves the store, they let the next guest it. Exactly as you'd expect. Around 10-15 minutes go by with no guest leaving the store. At this point the line is very long behind me. A few more minutes go by. A person approached the employee at the door (short blue/green hair and tattoos all over) and asked if you had an item in stock. The employee asked over the radio, it was in stock. The customer asked the employee at the door if they had to wait in the now very long line to buy the one item. The employee told them they could skip the line and just buy the item at the front. I was in line for just one item. The people behind me in line could have been there for just one item. I told the employee that I had been standing in line for almost 20 minutes now for one item. And asked why someone can cut the line. The employee told me I could form a new line behind the person who just walked up. How is this allowed to happen? TLDR: Employee with short green/blue hair and tattoos all over let people cut the line even though other guests had been waiting to get in the store for +20 minutes. read more

Sephora is pricey, lets be real. It is high end make up and skin care. If that's what you're looking for this is the place to go! Having said that, you get what you pay for. I have taken a glimpse at other reviews for this location which I cannot agree with or wrap my head around. I've been here many times and have always received GREAT service when looking for a specific item. My recent visit here was simply to pick up a gift card, but as soon as I walked in I knew I couldn't leave with a little something for myself. I hadn't even been in the store for a minute when one of the Sephora girls approached me, offering assistance. I mentioned to her that I wanted an exfoliant mask. She quickly pointed me towards the skin care corner of the store and recommended Glam Glow. While I did think $60 was a little much, I decided my skin was worth it. They rang me up and the cashier was also very sweet. I have to add -- their points system is a real come on even if you are an infrequent customer. I personally try to stay away but I have been racking up points over a couple years. Also, their gift cards are adorable!! I will be back for these. They give you a mirror compact as the packaging which I loved! 5 stars for Sephora, this is by far my favorite place for make up and skin care. read more

Wow, where do I start. Let me start with one POSITIVE NOTE. When I went in Dec 24th, there was a lovely and helpful employee at the register, she rang me up and helped me save money. I don't recall her name but she was wearing glittery red lipstick on Dec 24th, 2022. SHE DESERVES A RAISE FOR HELPING ME SAVE MONEY. SHE WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND AND WAS SO HELPFUL. This is the closest Sephora to me so out of convince, I come here often. I started coming more once their sales started (November). I want to start off by saying, the employees are rude and unapproachable. A lot of them have a stank face/ attitude when I've asked for help. One time, I asked someone to help me color match and she was no help. I wanted her opinion and she was no help. I've been to other Sephora's and the girls are so friendly and immediately offer help. At this Sephora I'm always doing the most for assistance. What triggered me to write this review was the experience I had yesterday. I picked up an order and one the items was out of stalk (okay, fine I get it, but still bummed out) I was trying to get the Valentino Voce Viva gift set, but since it was sold out, I decided to just buy the perfume bottle that day for myself. I had to roam the store to find an associate because no one was around (annoying). Finally, I get someone to help me and I'm SHOWING AND POINTING at which bottle I want and she's giving me the VALENTINO BORN IN ROMA BOTTLE- which is the pink one. I ask if she is sure it's the one I want (pointing at the shelf) because I've purchased that box she was giving me and its Born in Roma. She keeps "assuring" me VOCE VITA. I thought I was crazy for thinking otherwise. I get home, and coincidentally decide to gift my sister the Volce Vita. When she opens it, I realize the Sephora employee gave me the WRONG BOTTLE AS I HAD MENTIONED AND KEPT ON GOING BACK AND FOURTH ABOUT IT. I am annoyed at the lack of knowledge by the employee. If she wasn't sure, she could I've asked her co worker. Luckily, I decided to gift my sister the perfume without knowing it was the incorrect bottle. Had I kept it, I would've gone to the store and made a scene. Sorry not sorry. I am now ordering the same gift set I wanted in the first place and getting it shipped to my house. I've visited this Sephora many times for make up products and they have always been helpful in regards to helping me with purchasing certain make up products. Last Friday, I went in for a Perk treatment with Hydrafacial, which was advertised to me to be done by licensed estheticians at Sephora. My concerns began when the person who I thought was a licensed esthetician asked me what was skincare products I use and when I mentioned tretinoin, her reaction was "what is tretinoin". This is a red flag because knowing about tretinoin and retinols is apart of any training for a skincare professional. I asked her what her credentials were, and low and behold, she was only a cosmetologist, someone not trained in skincare treatment and has no business administering hydrafacials. I was so disappointed that this sephora location does not have licensed estheticians and falsely advertised that licensed estheticians administer this service. That is very CHEAP and PERILOUS of this location. I am disappointed that my skin was left in the hands of someone that has no training in skincare treatment, which left me with very irritated skin. Kwan!!! I'm new to makeup and I went in wanting some basic tips on how/ where to start. Kwan, an employee, is everything! He helped me pick out products in my budget, taught Me how to apply and answered all of my basic ass questions w/o giving me the, "this girl trippin" look that can be often seen at the illustrious MAC counters. If your starting your makeup journey, go se Kwan. If your a woman of color, go see Kwan. If you just need some fresh tips and YouTube is stressing you out, go see Kwan. I've had a very positive experience here. Jose was very helpful with our perfume selections. My boyfriend wanted to get me a Christmas gift, and we were looking into a new fragrance. I came in to purchase the new limited edition FlowerBomb Bloom, but we opted for one of Tory Burch's fragrances. I really liked Bloom, but boyfriend likes light and fresh so we did a bit of a search for a new pick. Jose was patient, super sweet, and very informative about every scent. He literally swept the whole wall to test each fragrance for us. He also sent me home with samples of our top three picks, which were filled to the brim by the way, so that I could test them out. I might change my mind about this Tory Burch, so we'll see! read more

First off, I am a VIB Rouge, which means I spend a lot of money at Sephora. Yes, sometimes I buy hyped products that end up not working for me (I always buy online, the stores are so dirty-I've seen some horrendous things being done to the testers.) Sephora has a return policy that states that lightly used products can be returned in a certain timeframe, which I respect religiously. Then can someone explain WHY they women at the cashier gave me the nasty eye the two times I retuned something? Mind you, I wasn't returning 300$ worth of used products. I was returning two palettes that simply were not worth the money they cost. I think it is in Sephora's best interest to treat their customers with respect, even when returning a product. Next time I'll simply return by mail, so I won't be tempted to buy anything else with the money I get from my return. read more

After shopping here for about 11 years, I've come to realize that the company itself has a hard time hiring staff that are respectful to their clients. If a store is to close at 8pm, and they choose to have their doors open at 7:56pm, they should honor a guest and kindly remind them that they will be closing soon, not that they are already closed..especially if the guest plans on purchasing a decent amount of product. This is my third updated review of this location. Unfortunately it will probably be the last. The attitude of people in the makeup industry has really declined. As someone who has worked in the beauty industry for those 11 years, it disappoints me to say that after I do in fact bring back the items that were planned to be exchanged for a larger purchase, I will either revoke my business all together or stick to online shopping. read more

So, I want to give this place 4 stars because they have SUCH a huge variety. They carry just about every brand of make-up you'd need (except MAC of course) .. Unfortunately, this place gets 3 stars because EVERY single time (4 tries so far) I try and buy Anastasia products, they're completely sold out. Booo. They also have a good generic "Sephora" brand with great selections. I recommend the eyeliner. Also, the service is really hit or miss.. I've experienced very friendly and helpful service and I've experienced very rude and dismissive service. The employees (mostly the ones working at the makeup stations) are also very quick to rudely tell customers that they're on their 5 minute break, chill dude, you don't have to be a dick about it... Generally the people working the registers are pretty nice and helpful though. The place has potential to be have 5 stars, but.. it definitely doesn't as of now. read more

I'm the type of shopper that doesn't like to be bothered. I appreciate a friendly "hello" when I walk in the door and ONE "can I help you with anything" and then a "thank you for shopping" either at the register or when exiting the store. Today when I walked into Sephora my first thought was Oh Grrrreaattt.....as I saw tons of workers standing around the front. But I walked in headed left and only one gal gave me a hello. This Sephora is inside the Village mall. You can enter it through Macy's. There's plenty of parking. This Sephora is less crowded than some of its other locations. Sephora has a plethora of cosmetics. What makes this outfit different is that it's very generous with its return policy. You can return an item even after it's been half used. Women would appreciate why the return policy is important. All of us have made errors in choice of color. I have a copious amount of lipsticks that I don't wear anymore. read more

Over the x-mas holiday I was on the hunt for THEE PERFECT shade of red lipstick. I was helped by Jenna who gave me excellent service. She was intent on finding me that PERFECT shade of red. She showed me the Buxom line and not only did I get my shade of red, but Buxom works as a lip plumper too! SCORE! She also recommended the Shiseido eye creme and sent me home with a sample. Jenna really does her job well and will go above and beyond to make sure you leave satisfied without being pushy. And I'm loving the samples! Who DOESN'T love samples?! It's a good feeling to walk out that door knowing you were given great advice from someone knowledgeable in what they were selling and not just treated like a sale. read more

I still buy them, especially when they say this beach bag is yours if u buy such and such items, I have hard time to resist. What can I say, I'm a sucker for pretty beach bags and baskets, hmmm, I wonder if there is a psychological reason for that. The other day I did come here with a purpose- the organic water-based nail polish. It showed on their website that they have one brand, but it turns out they didn't have any. The aestheticians here were helpful, one of them even said they will try to stock some. I LIKE that attitude!!!! The opi three-free sounded tempting, but it still smelled, so no. Love the staff! They're are so kind and patient! They also respect the line, someone wanted to cut in line I wasn't going to notice and the cashier told her that there's a line. I have had experiences in where people would cut in line and I had to deal with it. However they need more stock because there was some Lippies I wanted but there wasn't any on stock. Then they actually keep the place pretty clean, to my surprise I didn't see smudges or fall out on their products meaning they must be frequently cleaning the testers. Then they also carry lots of brands, to my surprise I found a ysl, dior and glass hour, and cover fx counter! I never seen these counters at other sephoras. read more

I will preface this by saying that I am somewhat of a makeup novice and only started using it a few years ago. I've never had makeup done by anyone other than myself. I have been to this Sephora several times, and have always bought something (often something pricey), and rarely receive any acknowledgement from the staff. After today's purchase (the 3rd in a row exactly like this one) I feel the overwhelming urge to write a review. They get two stars automatically for carrying products I have difficulty finding elsewhere, and a wide variety of them. I so badly want to give them two stars for the treatment I usually receive at this location, but I will give them an extra star because: 1) The first time I ever came here, about two years ago, a woman (I wish I remembered her name, but she probably doesn't work there anymore anyway) was extremely helpful in helping me identify the correct colors for me and order one that was out of stock. She didn't teach me how to apply it (thank god for YouTube), but she provided some helpful pointers. 2) on another visit, the cashier reminded me that I had not picked up my birthday gift from them (I still haven't used it, 6 months later, but it was very nice of her to even bother to remind me. That's the type of customer service that would keep me coming back). They could get 5 stars from me if they even tried 50% harder, though. And I don't understand why they don't put forth just a little bit of effort. I am under the impression that they earn commission, because the cashier always asks me if anyone helped me while I was there (I worked in retail for about 2 years and we only asked that in commission-based jobs). The last three visits, I have had to answer "no". The most helpful people here are the cashiers and the person closest to the door. Though now, I feel like I have to wonder about the cashiers. Reading over other reviews, I'm getting the impression that Sephora stores are supposed to give out samples. I've spent quite a bit of money here and have never received a sample for anything. I'd be interested in learning about that. I usually get greeted at the door. But that's about it. I've spent 5-10 minutes in one aisle without any salesperson approaching me. I find that strange from both a customer service and a loss management approach. I know I've had questions and just had to decide on my own, because I haven't been able to find a salesperson within eyeshot to help me. And no, I'm not going to go hunt down somebody who is getting paid to sell face paint at $100/ounce. If these employees are paid to persuade, why do they avoid me? I'm sorry that I don't come into your store with my face on and dressed to the nines. I need to wear nice clothes and your expensive makeup for work, and I enjoy being casual and letting my skin rest while doing frivolous activities like shopping for overpriced cosmetics. I want to start off by saying that I love Sephora! The chain is awesome. This particular store however is horrible. Today I went in to be color matched using their new electronic foundation matcher. (It was very cool.) I let the sales lady know I would not be purchasing today and was just looking and researching a new foundation. I told her that I was looking for something on the lower end price wise and she immediately showed me a $50 foundation. When I again told her I wanted something cheaper she told me I could just try it and see. I let her apply it and it was ok. She then tried to take me to the cash register to purchase it and when I told her I was not ready to purchase today she got angry. I explained that I wanted to see how the foundation lasted and also that I was not getting paid until Friday. I told her I would be back then to purchase a foundation. She gave me a dirty look and walked away. To my knowledge Sephora encourages their customers to try products and most other Sephoras give you foundation samples to take home. When I got home I tweeted my experience and Sephora's corporate offices contacted me. They apologized for the horrible service and said they would look into what happened. I think corporate Sephora is awesome but I advise you to stay away from this particular store. read more

Now I love Sephora as a whole, but this particular one has snooty workers and unhelpful employees. I've been to Sephoras on the east coast and west coast. Believe it or not, Sephoras on the east coast (Jersey), trump the ones out here with their friendly customer service and willingness to spend time actually ASSISTING you, not just guiding you to the section you ask for and leaving you to it. That was my experience the few times I had visited this Sephora. When I walk in, it takes me no less than 8 minutes to locate an employee that is not on a break, is not assisting anyone else, or is not "actually" on the floor, just restocking (sense my frustration?). I like to be in and out of a store. I'm not one for looking around. On one occasion, after 10 minutes of locating a free employee, I asked her for a good concealer around or possibly under the $20 mark. She looked at me like a was on a mission to visit Mars. Her reply, "Ummm, we don't have that many here. Maybe like 2." I had walked around this store aimlessly for 10 min before she showed up, so I know that I saw at least 8. I asked her to point them out. She did and I didn't like them. Then I asked her about the Boi-ing Concealer which was $20 (she was standing a foot away from the concealer, which is how I saw it). She replied, "Oh yea, that's a good one." I just looked at her. I ended up helping myself and decided to go to Mac instead. If you like Sephora, I strongly suggest that you stay away from this one. read more

Love Sephora!!!! It's like the Disneyland of the cosmetics world! I go to this Sephora quite often. The sales girls are always helpful and they are very good about giving samples of anything you may want to try. I am a big fan of trying out new skin care lines. I take really good care of my skin and like to keep up-to-date on new products. If there are any new anti-aging products, I'll be the first one to check it out and they always have the latest products. Sephora has everything you could possibly want in regards to make-up and skin care. If you are looking for the newest mascara, skin care, or the trendiest new make up line, this is the place to go. Review for makeup novices and those who wish to work with the best. I know this may be sacrosanct to say on a Sephora yelp page, but until yesterday I bought my makeup at grocery stores. In the past I had heard terms like concealer, powder, liquid foundation, etc but had no idea what meant what and where to start. Cue Arione at the Sephora in Manhattan Village. As soon as we spoke, I felt comfortable. She was warm and inviting and had a great sense of humor. She asked questions and listened first (I wasn't looking for anything drastic). She took the time to explain everything and was very clear in answering my questions. At no point did I feel like she was pushing product (which always has the unexpected effect of making me want to buy more). Arione actually ended up staying later than she was scheduled to so that she could help. What I appreciated more than the amazing product I left with was the exceptional treatment I received at Arione's hands. I didn't realize how much I was dreading being a 30 year old makeup novice in a relatively intimidating environment, but Arione made the experience as enjoyable as possible. She is a true asset to Sephora and ensured that I'll be a return customer in Manhattan Village. read more

I LOVE going to Sephora, it's probably an addiction (product junkie). But the one at Manhattan Beach is by far the WORST location EVER! The inventory at this store is standard, but the service is absolutely atrocious. I went there on the decently busy day, but there were like 4 SAs standing around in the front pretending to be busy. I asked one of the SAs for help, and he said he was helping someone already, but will find me help. He never did... After patiently waiting, I finally had to find another person. I think this other guy might be the manager or something. The minute I asked for help, he looked around to try to pawn me off. When he realized there were no SAs at the back of the store, he sighed. I asked him like 2 questions and he was very abrupt. I only asked him for a lip balm recommendation and a sample. He tried to make me use the sample then and there without wiping the lip balm tube...gross. I asked him, "um, isn't that unsanitary, and can you just put it in those little sample container for me?" Relunctantly he cleaned the tube, made a sample, and placed it sort of in front of me, but didnt say a word. He also grabbed some other thing and made a sample, so I thought he was giving that to me too since normally, SAs tend to grab a few different things for you to try. So I waited for the second one. After a few seconds, I asked him, so what's that one. He's like "omg, you are still here? That's not for you". Thanks for saying you were done with my sample and making feel like an awkward turtle. I'm not a hillbilly or a sample freeloader, but I was totally treated like one. I was there as a paying customer...buying like $100 worth of stuff because I ran out. I don't know about you ladies, but I'm not trying to be a cheap ass or anything when I ask for samples at Sephora...well sometimes I am, but so what. They encourage it because it encourages sells when people are able to try one different products. Go to another store if you want your standard Sephora service. You won't find it here! read more
