I live in Palos Verdes, so the drive to El Segundo isn't the most convenient, but closer studios I've tried just don't compare. At other places, my facials never felt as thorough, but here my skin always feels truly clean and refreshed. When it comes to my eyebrows, I only trust Karli and Mahla--they consistently do an amazing job. I've had a range of treatments with them, from brow laminations and lash lifts to my mom getting a lip blush tattoo, and everything has turned out perfectly every time. On top of that, Karli and Mahla are incredibly kind and easy to talk to, which makes the whole experience even better--especially for services like waxing. I came back to Temptress last year before the COVID19 pandemic began and bought some skin care products. They are the exclusive retailer of Vie De Mer, a completely natural luxury skin care line from Paris I was blown away by the quality of the products and the amazing results I got. I work in a critical government industry and I have had to go to the office every day for the past year. I have not had the privilege to telecommute from home. I keep receiving numerous compliments on how glowing and refreshed my skin looks. I just use Vie De Mer products and sunscreen. I have tried high end skin care from Bergdorf Goodman , Saks fifth Avenue and all the high end stores. I've used all the fancy brands but Vie De Mer is the best ! Best of all it's non toxic and doesn't smell gross. I recommend the following: Jasmine face oil - amazing face oil that brightens , moisturizes and keeps me looking fresh. It smells amazing and a bottle lasts forever. Just a few drops on my face and it's Amazing. If you buy one product get this one !! Oxygen face wash - Keeps me squeaky clean and doesn't strip my skin. Improved my skin by reducing acne too Vitamin C serum - a very strong brightening serum that works very well. I booked an appointment for an eyebrow tint and laminate service. The tint used had an orange hue to it and looked awful. I felt like the esthetician was rushed and kept trying to sell me other services/products instead of focusing on my brows. The hairs on my eyebrows were not straight and smooth. The day after my appointment, I received a text message from the salon inquiring about my service. I replied and expressed my concerns. It's been three weeks and no one from the salon followed up with me. The cost was $150 before tip. Definitely a waste of money!!! read more

Great job on eyebrows, but bad desk service. I went in and had already put my payment information on the website before hand and it charged me one dollar, and so after I got my eyebrows done the desk attendant said I hadn't paid. She then charged me $29.00 for my eyebrows and kept saying that the payments didn't go through even though I saw a check mark on the pin machine. She made me do it two more times and then said she would just charge me with the payment information I gave her... I come back later and find four charges of $29.00 on my bank account! Extremely awesome service! ...and I totally got schooled in the world of applying makeup! :) I wandered in on a mission to buy eyeshadow. Kevin greeted my mom and I warmly. Lets be honest, when it comes to makeup, I have no idea what I'm doing. I told Kevin that. Suddenly I was in his makeup chair. So sitting in this chair wasn't your average sell tactic where they put makeup on you that they want you to buy. This also wasn't your average "let me tell you about the application techniques that I'm using on you so you can do this at home." Kevin actually spent a good 20 mins with me, put the makeup brushes in my hand, pointed to the different shades and colors to use on which parts of the eyelids, and guided me through each brush swipe/wiggle/blend/etc. I was thoroughly impressed by his ability to teach me not just one, but multiple makeup styles for daytime, work, and evening with just a few simple adjustments. I was also impressed by how beautiful my makeup looked :) Here's another cool thing... he did the same exact royal treatment for my mom too :) Sometime during our visit, we also had the pleasure of meeting the store owner, Nili. Super nice, super helpful, and was pleased to see that my mom and I were enjoying our time with Kevin. Because Nili and Kevin took such good care of us, answering all our questions and making us feel so special, it was an easy decision to purchase most of the items that Kevin used on us. We walked out of there confidently with our newly makeover look by Kevin, new cosmetics in our bags, and an education on how to apply makeup. Here's the thing...I actually enjoy putting on makeup now because Kevin taught me so many fun techniques to play with! :) Now here's where it could've potentially gone downhill... I got home later that evening excited to play with my newly bought items. But before I could open the containers, I noticed something. Then I started kicking myself for not noticing it sooner. To spare you the details, the short story is that I'm particular about ingredients in makeup. Why I failed to check it before I made the purchase, I don't know. But I knew I didn't want to keep it. So...I'm the kind of person that worries what everyone will think about me. The fact that my mom and I made such a large cosmetic purchase and now needed to make a return to the store for a refund made me stress out. I felt bad that we wasted so much of Kevin's and Nili's time and energy. She was extremely knowledgeable about skincare products, and customized the facial perfectly for me. I always have a fun experience here. I've had the best, most amazing facial from John, my eyebrows waxed a few times and today I had my eyelashes curled semipermanently. It was a 45 minute process and WOW! For $65.00 this is worth it. This is a lovely, serene, clean and peaceful salon. I went there to have permanent makeup done. The owner makes you feel very welcome. My makeup was done by Yulia Mironova, she is extremely focused on safety and cleanliness. A real artist as well. She did full color on my lips, and they look fantastic! I'm so happy with the work. Yulia is really a perfectionist. Then I decided to do eyeliner, and it looks great as well. Whatever she uses for numbing the skin works great, and I really felt no pain at all. Every time I look at my eyebrows I am furious. I have never given a business a bad review, ever. I feel a responsibility to worn other consumers. I strongly do not recommend them for semi permanent cosmetics. They do not follow specific instructions. I requested them to stay within the brow hairline. I think their technique of drawing pencil liner on first is flawed. The technician can not see to stay in the brows natural shape. Also not satisfied with eyeliner. Technician goes into lash line not right on top of lash line. Dangerous for follicle infection and lash loss and was also not what I requested. read more

So let me start off by saying that I'm probably the most difficult customer in the world (I am extremely picky...esp about things on my face). And I honestly feel bad for the hassle Melissa went through to tattoo my brows - But I will say that I'm also a special case being that my brows are ridiculously asymmetrical in their natural state (thanks to genetics and over plucking in my youth). However I picked Temptress because I liked the technique their artists used, the environment was sanitary, and the fact that they used a semi-permanent vegetable ink for their cosmetic procedures was a plus. I felt like I could trust them with the very procedure I had been researching for years to help my brows. Before we started, Melissa and I discussed the procedure and shape while a numbing cream was applied for 20 minutes. Once that was finished we penciled in my desired shape, then got started. Brow one came out great and we went on to the next one (the problem brow by nature). It ended up taking longer than expected (2 hours total), and she kept having to look at my face from a distance to figure out how to correct it. At this point I started to freak inside but I told myself to let her do her job. After some tweaks and a wax she was finally done and let me look....I IMMEDIATELY PANICKED AND REGRETED MY DECISION! They were so bold, the strokes were super wide, and the density and shapes were not what we drew in. My trust was lost and I was too scared to have her keep correcting them so we agreed to leave additional corrections for the touch up (where most of the corrections are usually made anyways). I was so stressed and embarrassed that I worked remotely from home the next day. I didn't want ANYONE to see me. 5 days later they were significantly lighter... and then two weeks later they looked like a natural brow (phew)! During the touch up appointment I told her what I did and didn't like, and she made some adjustments. 2 hours later there were a few things that I still didn't like as far as the shape but I figured this is probably as good as it's going to get and gave up pressing symmetry (Melissa lives by the "sisters not twins" rule). Overall my experience was a little more stressful than I thought it would be. I feel that I had to direct her a lot, but she did a great job and my brows look 10 times better than they did when I came. The only reason I would not go back is because of the asymmetrical shapes and thick lines that don't look like natural hairs. Advice for new customers: - Parking is available but the area is busy so come a little early - Get your brows perfected a couple days before/don't rely solely on the artist to be able to visualize the perfect arch for your face - Don't be afraid to ask to peek here and there - Maybe bring a picture of your "ideal brow" to help communicate the look you are going for if you do not have a good brow shape already - Don't schedule anything important for at least a week... you will look cray for a few days Advice for Temptress: - Brighter lighting in the tattoo area may be helpful during the consultation - Each artist should have an album of their work on the website as the current site/yelp/facebook page looks like all the work is done by the same artist (slightly misleading) read more

I periodically came here to get my eyebrows done. Natalie was awesome, but unfortunately, she moved out of state. Then it was hit or miss - but none was so terrible as the last lady who did my brow appointment. I don't 100% remember the name (maybe Ellie?) but the people here are set on making you buy the semi-permanent treatment which is costly. After I told her for the fourth time that I had heard about the options, but didn't want to buy, she rushed through my brows and then only ended up cleaning up one of my brows. This made one of my brows really thin since she waxed both and then plucked my left brow only, making it look flat and terrible. I'm not sure if she was distracted or too anxious to try to sell semi-permanent to the next customer but when she finished, she didn't even ask if I liked it, she just said much better and hurried me off. This is such poor service. I used to love this place and recommend it to anyone and now I would definitely not recommend it as they can't seem to keep a good brow person for long, and the people there now couldn't care less about the customer. read more

But no more! I met Laura at Temptress and she consulted with me about getting semi-permanent make-up. I was hesitant but trusted Laura's recommendations. Life changing! Laura is so good! I got my eyebrows done, eye-liner and lash tint. My brows have never looked so good, my eyes pop, and I can roll out of bed and out the door without having to put on make-up. This little store nestled in the new(ish) El Segundo shopping center is a fantastic place to buy fragrances and gifts. The smells are wonderful, the quality top-self - I got my mom a really beautiful and unique perfume here for Christmas, and if/when I need to buy something like this again, I'll definitely come back. I am also slightly obsessed with nice, attractive candles and this place has an incredible selection to seduce your sense of smell. The staff is very friendly, not too overbearing, and extremely knowledgeable. I really felt like I was getting the best service possible. My only quibble is that the prices seemed a bit too pricey. I know I could have purchased some of the same products for $5 - $10 cheaper elsewhere. But as this is a small local business and not a big chain, I am more inclined to spend the extra $ here. read more

This is a great shop to find unique beauty gifts and products. I got lured in from the promo postcard from Varga next door that advertised their free eyebrow shaping. I had been tweezing my unruly brows for years now, so I decided to give it a try. My God! What a difference! The woman did a great job and I was totally shocked by how good they looked. I have been coming to Temptress for almost 2 year since moving to LA. Neely and her team, are super knowledgeable and friendly when it comes to skin, hair and beauty. The store itself is filled with high quality skin care, hair and home products at varying price points making every visit in for my waxing a pleasure. I have never had a better facial anywhere else, and as a result highly recommend Jon's "accu-pressure" facials. Your skin will be glowing! Also, I cannot say enough good things about Melissa and her brow and lip waxing. My skin is very sensitive and she makes a special ice bath to put on my brows just after the wax to keep my skin from getting red and inflamed. The $25 p/mo waxing subscription is great, and very competitively priced. I have never had any problems with it and they are always very accommodating with stopping and starting it should you need to pause it. I really had a pleasant moment while i was there. The first time I went was by accident; my sister was getting my baby nephews hair cut done next door at "snip it" and while waiting I needed to get my eyebrows done. I was walking and on there easel outside it said complimentary eyebrow waxing for first time customers. I was curious since I've never done waxing. The girl who did my eyebrows did an amazing job! The second time I came back I decided to get a Brazilian wax (my first time). I had received an email 3days before stating they had a special of $40 brazilian wax and that they had best esthetician in town. So I gave in and booked my appointment for Saturday. I arrived 15min before my appointment and was said that Rebecca; their esthetician was available so she took me in. Rebecca made me feel so comfortable she coached me through the waxing by relaxing and breathing in and out; and wax off! And yes it hurts! But the pain is so fast ! We kept chatting through my Brazilian waxing that I was comfortable being bottomless and she was fast; 15-20min perhaps. Rebecca also waxed my eyebrows and lip and I was cleaned and good to go!! My Brazilian wax $40 Eye brow and lip another $30; I think that was pricy! But having an awesome job done and overall recieving a great experience well "priceless". Well I come back, again? Of course! I booked a package for 6months Brazilian wax and eyebrow for $60 every month and well it'll make me keep up with my maintainance. This is only a review for the shop and not for waxing/makeup services. I came here after being recommended by a friend to look for some high end bath products to give as gifts. After perusing the store for a couple minutes, the associate came by and asked me if I was interested in anything specific. After doing the usual "I'm just browsing" comment, she returned with some candles she thought I might like. Honestly I felt a little affronted at first, feeling sort of a pressured sales pitch, but she was actually really helpful in pointing out certain items, particularly limited edition ones. I ended up spending a pretty penny on stuff, but successfully got gifts for not one, but FOUR people on my list. And the shop wasn't very busy at the time as it was early in the evening and so they hand wrapped everything in the store, way better than I could have ever done it!
