It's very bright and well organized inside, the staff was friendly and patient with specific questions and knowledgeable about the products, the reusable gift bag is a plus here.

Dreadful chemicals. I didn't see 1 product with a desirable ingredient list.

The sales person Viraj was especially patient with me regardless of me being SUPER stressed out about which bottle to buy as it was a gift for someone who stated they "wanted" Dolce and Gabbana... but failed to mention exactly which scent they wanted...as they make several. (So Smart) Long story short, the person finally got back to me and texted a photo of what she wanted which took F O R E V E R to download because of the thick, concrete mall walls...and not to mention my crappy Note 3 phone didn't speed things up, lol! I actually had to leave the mall and walk outside to get a Signal like I'm communicating via Pigeon... He he! ;) No worries, 20 minutes later and in what seemed like an eternity to me... upon my return Viraj was just as cool as I left him. Still Patient.. Kind, Attentive... I specifically went to the…read moreManhattan Beach location to get a "skin scan" done in store to see if 1. my recent online purchase of a new foundation was the correct needed shade and 3. was there anything in particular that I should be working on for my current skin care & condition. I was assisted by cast member Stephanie and she was absolutely wonderful. She was able to help me with my skin-scan (I now know that I need to up my hyaluronic acid application for my dry skin) as well as helping me exchange my online foundation purchase for another shade closer to my complexion needs. I must say that cast members like Stephanie are wonderful to interact with. She was warm, kind, and very helpful with my concerns regarding my (gasp!) aging skin. This Sephora location has always been organized, well stocked, and clean during my visits; today was no different than before. I appreciate that I can almost always spot a cast member cleaning/stocking the store at any given time. I also enjoy that this location never seems to be overrun and crowded, as my mobility issues make being in crowded stores a bit hard in me.

We had Victoria as our guide, and she was super funny, helpful, friendly, and patient with us. She let us try multiple combinations to find our perfect scent for our candles, and even gave us some suggestions when we were stuck on what scent would go best with what. She walked us through how to adjust the color of the wax, and educated us on the general candle making process. The candles only took an hour to solidify and were ready for pickup, so we just grabbed a quick bite while waiting. Would 10/10 bring a friend here to do this again, and HIGHLY recommend taking a class with Victoria! She knows how to work a crowd and made the experience 10x better!

They offered suggestions even though there were 25+ of us in various stages of attentiveness. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. I had such a nice time that I booked another experience to celebrate my daughter's birthday. This time was different and felt ... perfunctory. We arrived right before our scheduled time, I was starting to tell the person who received us (I was told she was the owner even) that we had arrived quite a bit early (like we got there before the store even opened so we walked around for a bit before arriving 1 min before our reservation) before she abruptly said no it was already time and everyone else had gotten started. Just reminded me of the plethora of email reminders I'd received from them reminding us to arrive on time, allow time for parking, etc. She didn't even greet us or say hello or welcome. Never introduced herself, never asked our names. Just a "do you have a reservation?" And told us to put our stuff down (didn't tell us where) and put on an apron. We ended up putting our things down on someone else's seats because others were standing in front of ours while four others were choosing their scents for their candles. Told us we'd have to wait since there was no room for us to choose our scents so we just stood there. No one even said, hey why don't you wander around the store for a bit until space clears up. And why rudely tell us they'd already started when we just had to stand there and wait anyway? I really felt like we were in the way rather than paying customers, so I told my girls they could look around the shop for a minute rather than awkwardly stand there in front of someone else's seats. The person who helped us with our candle making was nice but kind of just gave us instructions of what to do. One of the girls mentioned how it was kind of like chemistry class so we all talked about science for a bit. I reminded the staff that the day was for my daughter's birthday (I had specified on the reservation) so she gave a quick little happy birthday before moving on. I didn't feel she was particularly helpful though. I asked how we can decide how much of one scent versus another and she just said you kind of just smell it. My daughter asked if she could make the color of her candle a little lighter and the person was just like, well, we can't guarantee what it will look like, but she was very helpful in breaking up the colored wax for her. When we returned to pick up our candles, that was it, they were just sitting there on the counter, packaged up and crammed into one little bag. I wanted to ask for another bag since each candle was going to a different household, but the staff gave off vibes of "go away". I distinctly remember the first time, each candle was packaged in their own little bag with the lid off the candle and they told us it was really important to let the candle "cure" and completely dry for three days before putting the lid on or lighting it. This time the candles were sealed up, no thank you for coming. No I hope you enjoy your candles. I can only assume this day was an outlier and maybe the staff were having a not great day. The experience is not cheap at $60 for which you create a 7 oz candle. I understand the cost isn't just for a candle, but for the experience of creating. The cost of the materials was probably minimal. But for that expense, I would have expected the experience to be a little less icy and a little more friendly (like during my first visit). Thankfully, my girls enjoyed their candles and had fun and were super thankful.

I came in today to pick up an online order and left really disappointed with the service. When I…read morewalked in, there were two associates at the counter and no other customers in line. One of them, Michelle, offered to assist me. She found my order, grabbed the product, and began to finish the pickup process. Since this was an online pickup, I had already paid, she only needed to hand me the product and print the receipt. However, right as she was about to do that, another customer walked up behind me in line. Instead of completing my pickup, she suddenly stopped helping me and switched to assist him, saying he was there first. That made no sense because there was no one waiting when I arrived, and she had already been helping me. To make matters worse, by the time she turned to that customer, the second associate had already started helping someone else , leaving me awkwardly standing off to the side for several minutes over what should've been a 30-second pickup. It felt dismissive and unprofessional. If she was in the middle of something else, she shouldn't have taken my order in the first place. The whole interaction left a bad taste, and I'll be returning my order.

I've received these rewards in the past and the choices, while complimentary, were small and limited. Today I was assisted by Safwa (her name on the receipt) and she brought out about 5 or 6 items for me to choose from. I asked her for a suggestion and I received a generous tube of a hair mask. I'm looking forward to trying it and after reading reviews online, am glad she suggested this item. Thanks to Ulta for their birthday rewards program and to Safwa who patiently assisted me in the store.

Since I've always trusted this location, I decided to continue with the appointment. The stylist was very kind, and my silk press turned out nicely. Unfortunately, the haircut itself was extremely disappointing. I have curly hair, and the layers were not blended properly at all. The cut created a harsh "shelf" effect, with very obvious disconnected layers that make it difficult to wear my hair naturally curly now. I understand mistakes happen, and I do appreciate the stylist's professionalism and kindness, but textured/curly hair requires experience and proper blending techniques. I wish the appointment change had been communicated more clearly beforehand so I could have decided whether to reschedule. I'm really disappointed because I trusted this salon and have had positive experiences here in the past.
