She checked the sales level you was on through their records and the gift was sorted out accordingly. The promotion was also based on your sales level and get a bigger percentage discount for next weekend sale. The sales person on the sales floor were very helpful and informative. They made sure the wifey had the best deal, so we held off tonight's sale till next week. We also asked to sample some other products which they gladly packed for us with printed item descriptions. This location is a hit or miss when it comes to the staff and the service you receive. I came in looking for a foundation and already knew the shade I wanted after using the Sephora Match feature. The woman helping me picked out 2 additional shades just to make sure, which I appreciated. I originally thought that she'd give me a few samples to take home but due to COVID, they're unable to give samples from bottles without pumps. So she suggested to do a swatch test on my face before I buy a full bottle. This is where her "nice" attitude changed. I was planning on buying the full bottle in the shade I ALREADY knew I wanted so I declined doing a swatch test on my face. I also explained to her that I had medication on my face and didn't want further irritation. And since I know my skin best (not her lol) I knew that physically wiping off the swatch with a cotton pad would definitely cause irritation. She started questioning me like I'm stupid: "How are you going to wear this foundation if it's going to irritate your face?" "How are you going to know it's going to irritate your skin?" "What kind of medication is it?" "Is the meds strong or something?" Again, I know my skin. Not you. I told her I'm planning on wearing this for evening/ nights out (when the medication would be washed off and my face would be fresh and prepped for foundation application). She then says , "At night time?!?!?" in the most sassiest tone. As if no one wears foundation for nights out . Lol. Anyways, she then suggested to swatch on my neck which was fine. The funny thing is, the swatch we both agreed on was the shade I ORIGINALLY WANTED. I want to believe she meant well and wanted to understand my situation while making sure I get the right shade. I had a banquet to attend in the evening after work, and I told my secretary that I looked like a mess. She told me to book an appointment at Sephora - available for a minimum purchase of $50. I scheduled a 4:00 appointment, luckily banquet was at the Ala Moana Hotel at 5:30. My makeup artist was Anne, and I loved her and the result! I enjoyed talking with her. In addition to explaining about the type of products for my skin and how to apply them, we talked about ourselves. She is an Army veteran, among other jobs, she worked at MAC as a makeup artist for two years before moving to Sephora last fall. My makeup artist was Katrina, and I at first I was intimidated because of her very bold and loud makeup, but she listened to my requests very well, even though I didn't give her much to go off of. She explained to me what she was going to do and why. I loved the way my makeup turned out, and she was super sweet and gave me free samples. I am a full blown makeup junkie. I just love makeup even though I don't wear it all the time. Sometimes, I just buy it for the cool packaging. My husband says that our room looks like a Sephora with all of my makeup, haha. I've never received bad service here for all the times that I've been in. Sometimes, I get a little uncomfortable when the salespeople keep coming around asking if I need help, especially when they offer makeovers. When I go to Sephora I'm usually makeup free so that I can test out some of their stuff. I guess because I have no makeup on, they assume that I don't know how to put it on. My two favorite display cases are Urban Decay and Too Faced. They have some of the coolest makeup along with the coolest packaging. Sometimes, it can take a while for the store to receive new releases so I get it much earlier if I just order it online. When you wait in line to pay for your products, they have mini versions of things that you can try for a cheaper price than the full sized product. It's great for traveling. read more

TLDNR: Quinn is a 15/10 Beauty Advisor and I have so much appreciation and respect for their dedication and artistry in using makeup and skincare products. I do not use makeup, but now I'm the caretaker for my aunty and I want to help her look and feel confident. Quinn helped me learn a lot about how to help do makeup and my Aunty learned about new products that she now loves. Def will re-book again in the future! =) ***** So...what had happened was....I was helping my aunty get some advice on different beauty products and we decided to get an appointment for the 75 minute Beauty Lesson. I was a little apprehensive because past experiences when we asked for advice at other retailers and department stores had been rushed, and the employee would be a little impatient, or unnecessarily pushy with selling products or would not take my aunty's feedback into consideration when talkin about makeup. It was my 1st time at Sephora, so I wasn't quire sure what to expect. BUT then we got to our 11AM appointment and the world's kindest soul showed up with smile and a cheerful greeting to my aunty and me. Quinn was patient with Aunty who was a little shy at first, but quickly warmed up to Quinn's sincerity and enthusiasm. We got to go over all of Aunty's questions and talked about techniques on how to use new products that were introduced and sampled right then and there. It's over 5 hours later and Aunty's makeup still looks picture perfect and she says she feels "so pampered and taken care of". Seeing my aunty get the kind and respectful help she hoped for, having the quality products be available for us to purchase, and having Aunty be stoked for the rest of the day is completely worth it. I've been into Sephora many times. Sometimes it's been great and helpful others it's been too busy and you can't find anyone to help you. Today was a good day. I walked in looking for a replacement blush. My old one was running out and had been discontinued. I needed to depend on the expertise of these beauty consultants. Thankfully they came through. When I arrive they were all very busy and I was assured by a store director that they would find someone for me soon. I patiently waited and sure enough a beauty consultant came to help me. They looked at my old blush and said they would do a color match. So they took a little foam blender and took a sample and wiped it on my hand. Then they took a sample of the suggested blush and white that on my hand. We checked to see that the colors were similar then the consultant suggested I try it on my cheeks. She was very thorough and she suggested I walk outside and look at it in the sunlight. Happy to say, yes I found a very close match and Emma very happy and satisfied customer. I was even able to buy the blush in a small travel size compact. Products are a little pricey but I'm hoping they are worth it. read more

Ala Moana has some of the worst service of all Sephoras on the island. This Cashier (whom I forgot her name but will edit once I think of it) gave me so much attitude and all in the span of like 5 minutes. I went in shortly after my birthday to pick up a gift for my friend, and to get something for myself since my boyfriend gave me a gift card. It was busy, so this girl (that I don't even recall wearing the usual Sephora outfit) stepped in to ring me up. I told her I wanted my items rung up into two different transactions, and instead of listening, she casually goes, "Oh, I'm ringing you up over here." and just stood there watching me try to move my bag, wallet, and like 6 tiny individual eyeshadows over. I separated them into two piles for her for the two separate transactions I had asked for. Then as I was looking at the rewards, she rang up all of them together anyway! So I said, "Sorry, I wanted those rung up separately". She said, "What? Why?" I said, "Because one pile was for a friend and one was for me." She said, "It doesn't really matter because it'll all be on your account anyway." I said, "I also wanted to pay for mine with the gift card my boyfriend got me." I'm not even joking, this girl ROLLED her eyes and went "OOOKAAYYYYYY." I was pretty mad at this point, because it was pretty obvious she just wanted to get me out of the way and move on. I feel like after the renovation, the store seems more crowded. Maybe it was because of all the people in the store, but there wasn't much space in the aisles. Most of the employees are nice, they greeted us and everything, but it didn't seem genuine. Despite the new adjustments due to covid, I was extremely pleased at how helpful & informative Helena was throughout my shopping. Even though testers were off limits for customers she still tried her best to color match me w/o physical touching and answered all of my million questions & concerns.. I had told her I initially came in for a certain concealer & foundation and she did not beat around the bush as to if my skin type were compatible or not (as I've experienced not so honest answers with other Sephora employees). Drove 10 miles to pick up a gift for friend's birthday, arrived 10 minutes before Ala Moana Sephora closed. As I opened the door, Trent (store manager) screened at me "DON'T come in, we're closed". So I asked what time they closed? He replied "8pm", then I asked what time is now? He replied "7:50pm". Hello??? Do you know how to calculate time? Store closed at 8pm, not 7:50, if you don't want customers to come in, then set your store hours to closed at 7:50. They setup their closing time whatever they feel like it. Helena was the most amazing person ever!!! She spent probably 2 hours with me picking out the perfect products. Everything I'd mention she knew and could even recommend better. Her customer service was OUTSTANDING. So sweet and helpful. If she isn't a manager she should definitely be promoted. She could even compare Sephora products to Mac products. Sephora located at the Ala Moana Shopping Center. The cosmetic shop is located on the second floor and on the mountain (mauka) side of the shopping center but facing the ocean (makai) side. To tell you the truth I'm not much for putting on makeups. I'll go for the fragrances though. I haven't shopped at Sephora personally but I did accompany individuals to the cosmetic store before. Stepping foot into Sephora for the first time I was greeted right away by the employees. Lipsticks and makeups would be on the left hand side of the store. Perfumes for women and cologne for men would be on the right hand side of the store. Beauty supplies are located towards the back end of the store. I tend to find myself trying on different fragrances that are in the women's section. Some fragrances are very strong and overwhelming while others are sweet smelling. If I ever do purchase an item from Sephora it would be one of the sweet smelling fragrances. Anything makeup is just not for me. LOL. 170/200 read more

Um maybe u should order more since the app keeps saying available. So ok I browse and find another staffer because I have a question about shipping. I hate leaving reviews....but today was a bit disappointing. Went in today with my mom because she wanted eye masks and lip care, but I wanted to feel the new murad product. Usually when an associate asks how you are or if you need anything and you say you don't they leave you alone...but today the girl came up few times within 5 mins kept asking what we are looking for. I politely told her we are ok because I know the products and don't have any questions. She proceeded to cut me off and started re explaining the product to my mom after she saw me explaining it. I have never been cut off by an associate before or kept being asked so many times what I need. I was upset that she was pushy. Also when another SA came up to me to say that murad was on sale, and I said thank you, but I already knew. She was so shocked I knew and before I could say anything she was like why who are you are and what do you know? I was already upset, so I didn't wanna be rude back, so I decided to know buy anything and just leave. I have always been happy coming here...now maybe I'll just stick to kahala mall's location. I shop at this location for all of my makeup products. It's convenient for me since I can drop by when I have other shopping needs or when I go to the mall. I am a routine customer but honestly never felt too compelled to give this store a review... maybe because it gets crowded or service is inconsistent- the associates are sometimes helpful but other times not. My past few visits I just bought my "usual" products without asking sale associates. Then, why am I giving a 5 star review for this recent visit? I'm very satisfied with my recent visit and the help I received from Milan. He was laid back but responded to my request for a new Color IQ and answered my questions about foundation. After a quick interaction, I went back to him to ask more questions and got a great recommendation for a makeup product that I would have never thought to get on my own. Sephora is everything a girl could want! Everything featured, advertised, talked about, twittered, IG'd, vined, YouTubed and FB'd about could be found here. Things young women (ok and a few older ones too) write about in their beauty blogs are inspired by the products they see here. The Sephora reach is wide and long and does not discriminate - women young and old can find products that can accentuate their best features or camouflage a flaw in addition to addressing skin care issues ranging from skin protection to anti-aging. And its reach is NOT limited to women only. There is a small section just for men! EQUALLY important - is the presence of a storefront GREETER!! Seriously, I have used them to my advantage many a times. "Uh, excuse me...where can I find this??" They have consutants JUST for skin care as well as very knowledgeable staff on the floor that can accurately match your foundation and/or skin care product. Also, there is an interactive computer that will help match you to certain products and will give you a print out of the specific products with your concerns. It's so easy, even I could do it (seriously - it's pretty significant if I could do it - just ask my girls). I guess what I love the most about Sephora is the abundant amount of help I get from the staff here. There are so many of them that at times they are literally tripping on each other. But that's not a problem for me as long as they keep their distance and avail themselves to me when I look like I need help. That's what makes shopping here fun - no stalk like behavior from the staff and excellent customer service when you need it. If you do shop here - make sure you sign up for their Beauty Insider card. All your purchases are recorded and the monies tallied. The more money you spend the more rewards you receive in terms of samples and free products. Once you register, you even get a free birthday gift from Sephora (not significant - but nonetheless, FREE!). Also, if you should even want to try a product first before making the purchase - ask for a sample! I can't tell you how many times I have bought products only to find out that I didn't like it or it wasn't the right match, scent or something. By getting a sample you can test it out before making that purchase. I'm not a shopaholic but whenever I'm at a mall, Sephora is a must go to store for me. I made it especially difficult for them the other day when I wanted to find a dupe for a particular shade in a travel size palette without any vibrant shades in it. Three employees searched around the store for me and although they weren't successful, they found a few similar shades (I'm just really picky about this particular shade!) and one employee did give me a non-Sephora alternative to get that exact shade individually instead of in the palette, which I appreciated! My go to place for new fragrances! My bf and I have purchased colognes and perfumes from sephora multiple times since they have a such a large collection to choose from. Staff are usually attentive and friendly and ready to answer any questions about the products the store offers. I feel like this Ala Moana location has pretty much any makeup and beauty product you could possibly be looking for but, in all honesty, I rarely buy makeup so this review is based on their scent collection. The stafd made this particular cologne adventure informative and pleasant for my bf and I. We were able to narrow down our choices to three that the Sephora staff were more than happy to provide us with samples of! I didn't even know they gave out samples!
