I'm sitting in the chair waiting on Doctor Sanderson as I begin to draft this review (I came back to finish it a few weeks later since botox takes time to kick in). The doctor saw me 35 minutes late (as in AFTER my appointment start time, and I even checked in early) so you probably already know where this review is going! The office is nice, comfortable and clean. It's in the basement of the Island Club Spa and Fitness. I did their "Forever Young" promo which is a scam. They charge you $150 for that promo and it comes with 10 units of Botox which is not enough to actually treat an area so you end up having to add more units at $14 each which quickly adds up. I got 18 units (9 for each eye) and you get a tiny bag of sample sized products and a $50 credit for a future visit. For context, the amount of botox they advised me to get was 70-80 units which is around $980-$1,120. I didn't want to do that the first time just in case I had a bad reaction. The $150 promo is really just a bait and switch. A few noteworthy things: The office offers you a $50 credit for posting a review. I wonder if this unfairly impacts their reviews because they have a lot of positive ones. I also wonder if my 1 star review will get me a credit (if I ever go back)? I'll update later with the answer. I paid $271 for Botox and it looks like it had zero affect. There's nothing different about my eye wrinkles. (I'm writing my review 3 weeks later so yes, it's had time to "kick in"). As I mentioned they are not good about honoring appointment time so don't schedule anything if you have a hard stop afterwards. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Buyer beware. They have a "no refunds" policy, so if they mess you up, you're not happy or it's a total disaster... you must still pay. You also pay for a no show or last minute cancellation which is understandable but they also take your credit card number before they even book you. So you're obligated to follow through! This might be a plus if you're like me and a bit scared. Parking is a bit of a hassle in the garage. I've never seen a stall open in the outside area and I used to go to that gym. read more

Okay, in some cases you don't get what you pay for but in the case of Thrive, you're getting what you pay for and more. I'm not familiar at all with going rates for any cosmetic procedures so I can't say they are a good or bad deal. I can only say in reference to how much I spend on things, they were expensive lol I will give it to them though because they are very thorough and attentive. Here, I feel you are in great hands. I felt they went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable from start to finish. They explain everything nice and slow and I felt they had no issues answering any questions I had at any time during the procedure. The docs helpers were very friendly and nice. I really enjoyed the doc's music selection. Was very calm and honestly some of my favorite island tunes. The place is really nice and I guess it should be considering how much their services are. I definitely suggest going in for a consultation if you're looking for any type of the services they offer. I did have to pay $50 for the consultation but fortunately they apply it to your total when you get your work done, so no loss there. I'd also like to mention that thru do take Care Credit! That was huge for me since they offer 6 months no interest is paid in full by then. Parking is a pain in the but though. You can attempt to snag one of the like 10 spots up the ramp but I never had any luck with getting one. They did mentioned there being a parking structure that you could use but I couldn't find it. In the end I just did metered street parking and called it a day. All in all, it was expensive to me, and I'm not even done with the entire processes yet, but well worth it. Who better to invest in than yourself? If you don't feel good or happy with yourself that will carry through your attitude with both yourself and others. I don't recall both of the receptionists names the day of my appointment, but I believe one was named Ashley, (I'm so sorry) - both were incredibly warm in their welcome, along with post-procedure. In fact, I'll likely be booking a future Hydrofacial with Ashley. I received treatment by Akiko who shared a wealth of knowledge, was incredibly professional and actively listened to my wants, which is very important to me when receiving any type of beauty treatment + the results kicked in at the projected timeline Akiko shared would likely take place. Thank you for your transparency and not being overly pushy with your product sales tact. I enjoyed my experience so much, I'm in the process of booking my next treatment. I had high hopes for treatments with Dr. Sanderson. When we met I discovered he also works at the hospital I do. He made me feel comfortable by telling me that he was "obsessed with results." He even mentioned that while this obsession might be good for patients, it wasn't great for him because he often worries and could lose sleep over the possibility of bad outcomes. This made me feel comfortable and confident in his abilities, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. I underwent two procedures with him and both ended up with complications, resulting in a lot of pain, discomfort and embarrassment. I want to add that I know complications happen but the way my case was handled was really disappointing. When I expressed my concerns, Dr. Sanderson's response was dismissive and lacked genuine effort to resolve the issue. In fact, he eventually stopped responding to my emails and did not send me the before photos that I requested for comparison. I requested a refund but was told he would only re-do the procedure. The procedure was supposed to be painless as they use numbing medication, but it was not done correctly or adequately, and I felt every "cut." Re-doing it especially after I had complications was out of the question. Instead of offering a refund he suggested a fat removal treatment, which was completely unrelated to the cellulite treatment I originally received. This was unhelpful and also insulting. I saved money during a difficult time in my life, hoping to give myself a confidence boost after a traumatic divorce. Instead, I was left with lasting "scars" and out $5000. I hate to leave a bad review but I purchased a Trusculpt "promotion" for two large pieces for $2000. I prepaid a $500 "down" payment to make the appointment. I go back and forth from here and new york and its been a year and they refuse to return my $500 deposit as I dont stay in Hawaii long enough to get anything done. This was a year ago and i think the $2000 was for two treatments but i couldn't find the emails that actually say it was for two treatments and Ive asked to speak to the manager and she kept having the receptionist relay a text saying sorry. I initially enrolled in their weight management program and had a free consultation. I inquired to see if their program would work for me. I was advised that it would. I scheduled my appointments, and was billed the costs, +2k. During my counseltation for the fat freezing it was recommended that I try ro lose at least 40lbs before having the procedure. THIS is what I wished the Dr. told me during the initial consultation. I requested a refund and it's taking Months to get it back. I'm always having to followup. We will process in two weeks? What? It's so unfortunate that their Ko'olani location was flooded and that they had to move their operations to Ho'ala Spa at Ala Moana. I can only imagine the frustrations. I was scrolling one day and saw that they were having a promo due to the unfortunate flooding. I've been meaning to get refreshed but was putting it off until I saw their promo post and decided to commit and make that appointment! I'm so happy I did! Scheduling was fairly easy (via text since you can't call in at their temp location) and their cancellation policy was disclosed well ahead of time. They do require a card on file in case of cancellations or no-shows so make sure you can make it and be there on time too. My appointment was with Angelica and I was there for Dysport. She was very knowledgeable, nice but most importantly, I felt she was being honest and did not try to hustle me. Instead, I asked her questions, and she would give me options without trying to sell me on any of it. I have to admit, I wasn't sure how it would go but turns out, I left feeling very happy that I tried them out and more so, I had Angelica for my first time with them. There are so many spa places that offers promo from time to time and even though getting a good deal is good and all, the more important thing to consider is the injector because you can literally ruin your face if you get someone who doesn't know what they're doing. This is my first time ever getting botox, and I was very nervous. I saw the Forever Young promotion and signed up, and am actually very impressed by how affordable the entire treatment was because I've never gotten this done before. I'm so grateful the staff at Thrive Med Spa made me feel incredibly at ease, very welcome, and very comfortable. Dr Scott, was very professional and I was surprised it didn't hurt (I was expecting a lot of pain). He gave me a very in-depth educational talk about skin, the treatment I was getting, and answered all of the questions I had. The initial Dr's Assistant that came to get me from the lobby area was so nice and made me feel so much at ease when I first walked in. I was a little apprehensive and nervous, but Kiana was so nice helped me to relax, prior to seeing the Dr. After my appointment, Ashley sent me a detailed skin care regime to help with the products that Dr Scott recommended to me, and even personally texted me to make sure I received the proper after-care instructions, as well as explaining what to expect. She was so nice to even offer, when I had tried to take my phone out to take notes. I did not expect the other Aesthetician, Kanani, to also jump in and offer an incredibly indepth instructional info and even offer a few samples and skin care programming to help with my skincare goals. I didn't initially walk in to prepare for skin care, but I left with a ton of in-depth, detailed, information about skincare and how to use products for my specific job. I was very impressed with her knowledge and felt so grateful she offered other product samples to test out, with the products I bought. Dr. Scott treated a few of my wrinkles with a neuromodulator that relaxed my face in the precise places. I had the procedure twice before with two different docs to no avail, so I was reluctant to spend more money on this. The results with Dr. Scott were excellent, and worth every dollar. For someone who doesn't normally do anything special for my skin care, coming here and speaking to Chenoa was good. She realized if I got to 58 years old on just soap & water facial care that she would have to start slow for me to start taking care of my skin. So we've started slow with just a cleanser, vitamin C & sunscreen. I started the scarlet skin tightening treatments. So we will see how it comes out after my three treatments. She checks on me and we discuss how I'm doing on the skin care regime and discuss when we can add things so that I'm not overwhelmed. I would highly recommend Thrive Med Spa. read more
