Wow. Just wow. I've been to Sephora before and had excellent service done by people with great makeup. The whole store was organized and people were happy to help with whatever you needed. Even when they were slammed it was great. That is not the case with this Sephora. What a mess. To start, I understand you're a makeup store and you want to show fun, unique makeups. But two people looked like an palette had exploded on their faces. I really really really don't want you doing my makeup. There's daring and then there's messy+lazy Two people at the store had messy, lazy makeup. My color specialist had no less than six colors of eyeshadow from her forehead to her chin in giant circles with no form or shape. I was looking for a lipstick to last all day at a wedding and the color specialist pulled 4 colors when i said I wanted something natural. At least three of them were bright pink- which does not look natural on my olive skin. I asked for more colors and she came back with the Sephora brand lipsticks and finally had a better brownish color. She put it on my lips with no liner. My lips have a well defined shape that is easy to follow; i almost never put on lipstick but I can get my lines perfect every time. This woman put lipstick all over my mouth. Sure, she's not me and not familiar with my lip contours, but you should have enough skill to put lipstick on someone else if you're selling makeup for a living. I have no idea who decided to let her be a color specialist without making sure she knew how to apply lipstick. To top it off, I asked if the lipstick stayed sticky during wear. She said it would dry off and was a stain. I didn't buy it and said I'd wear it around a few hours and come back if I wanted it. It stayed sticky for hours and I looked ridiculous with lopsided lipstick. I did purchase mascara that I had researched myself, but I will not be going back to Sephora for the lipstick I still need. Kudos for the manager for asking if we needed help- she made sure my name (which was inadvertently taken off the "Needs service" list) was put back on. That was nice, but it didn't make up for the crazy. I didn't bother going to find her after my experience because i was ready to leave. read more

What's not to love. Aisles of beauty finds and skin care products!! Even though I have way too many eye shadow palettes and way too many eyeliners and lotions and potions aplenty, I just can't help a quick peek around to see what else is new. The staff are always helpful, sometimes a little too helpful and most really know their products. The only thing Iwould like to see change is for them to ditch the department store brands like Clinique, which can be found everywhere and bring in some new flavors like color pop, makeup geek, morphe, etc. it may be that those brands won't avail themselves to sephora, but it would be nice to get some of the new blood in there. read more

Great selection of makeup and readily there to test. Now that being written, I will say that finding help is not an easy task and if you do, then be prepared to be rushed and on your own after shown a product, even to finding the correct item. Checkout is also rushed and if you are a Sephora club member as am I(they call it VIB), then one might feel it would only be right to be offered one of the perks earned with your points and not rushed through like cattle. Oh, and I guess a thank you for your purchase would be too much to ask for, too. I will continue to purchase from Sephora online, but when I need something from a brick and mortar store, it will be back to Neiman's or Nordstrom's where they appreciate my business. read more

I flippin' love this place! My one complaint (and that doesn't really feel like the best word to use) is that they don't carry a wider selection of brands. If they did, I would get Ulta erased from my mind Men In Black style! sigh. But Sephora carries mostly high-end products and I still need/want/compulsively shop for stuff that requires more of a selection than my local HEB. When I do get lucky enough to shop here, I relish the beautiful displays, cool products and customer service that surpasses high-school kids who don't seem to give a damn. read more

I've been to this Sephora multiple times and the experiences have all been about the same. I'm someone who does use makeup quite a bit but I don't wear it completely daily since too much and my skin hates me. That being said I'm no slouch when it comes to doing full on glam make up either. When I go shopping I'm usually pared down because shopping, ain't nobody got time for that. The reason I say this is everytime I've gone in to this store unless I have makeup on I have walked past 6 associates who don't acknowledge I'm breathing let alone ask if I need help. This last time it was at least 8. That being said once you hit them over the head and get them to see that you are not part of the furniture they can be very helpful. This last trip I was looking into buying something I've been researching a long time and the rep gave me a sample , offered some dupe advice , and was really great but that's after I had taken nearly 15 minutes trying to get someone's attention to be passed off to 2 others reps before I got the one that helped me. I ended up leaving with a sample because I didn't want to purchase before trying it out a couple days. (sadly this foundation isn't working out like I hoped but that's ok! I came in to buy make-up brushes for a gift. Although I was not greeted when I walked in, I asked for help and got a really great salesperson who gave me lots of information about the pros and cons of various different sets. She listened to my questions, gave me a good perspective and I made an informed decision and saved money in the process. I would definitely shop there again. Over the last few years I have shopped at this location, I have never had a bad experience. Tonight, I felt compelled to leave feedback because the manager on closing duty went out of her way to assist me. Context: I am an auditor in public accounting; I'm still working busy season hours at this time of year. I happen to get off work earlier than usual this evening (still a 12 hour day). I'm tired. I'm stressed. I'm out of my Lancome foundation and using junk drug store foundation to hold me over until I have a chance to get a replacement. I rush straight to Sephora, fighting the urge to run cars off the road coming north on 360. The Service: I arrive at the store five after 7pm, immediately after the doors have been locked and the staff is trying to close up. Like a makeup crackhead, I knock on the door until an associate tells me she can't open the doors and they're closed. I plead with her since I know exactly what I'm there for. She couldn't budge because of store rules. I turn around, defeated, and walk back towards my ride. The manager's sweet voice cut through the gray evening air like sunshine parting the clouds. "I'm sorry, she isn't allowed to unlock the door, come in and we'll get you what you need!" I practically ran back in the store. I walked out with what I needed five minutes later. May the makeup gods bless the Sephora Arboretum gatekeeper that is Jessie. She went out of her way to get me what I needed after she presumably had just as long a day as I had. In preparation for my wedding, I saw TWO different makeup artists for trials. I did not like how I looked AT ALL for either trial and used the words, "drag queen" a few times when describing the experience to my friends and family. My sister did her own makeup for her wedding and I figured with a little help, I could too. I made an appointment for a makeup trial at Sephora- Barton Creek and was assigned to Crystal. (The makeup trial is free with a $50 purchase of products) Crystal asked me a few questions asking about the look I wanted and any skin concerns I had. She took a few minutes to collect products around the store to use on me and then proceeded to show me how to apply them. In the end, I absolutely loved what i saw in the mirror. Choosing the perfect lip shade took a few rounds, but I now have everything I need for my wedding day. My fiance (now husband) had our small wedding ceremony yesterday and I used the makeup products in the morning, applying the techniques Crystal taught me. The makeup stayed on all throughout the day and looked professional in the photographs that were taken of me. More importantly, I felt and looked awesome! (I highly recommend bringing a friend or family member for their opinion- my youngest sister was an invaluable help). read more

The staff is very nice and helpful, they have always answered my questions and have given me great suggestions. I love the rewards program the offer and also the freebies. Great place to find make-up without the inconvenience/weirdness of a counter in a department store.

Plain and simple, this place is amazing. I have been in this store twice this month while wearing no makeup with my hair in a ponytail and I have gotten outstanding service both times. I have had sales associates help me until 15 minutes after closing and I have never felt rushed. These women truly know about their product and are so willing to pass on the knowledge. I really feel like I am getting a mini beauty lesson every time I go in. They give out samples for basically anything you are interested in which is great because too often have I purchased a tube of say, mascara, just to take it home and find out I hate it and that I wasted 30 bucks. It it on the expensive side? Yes. But all good quality makeup is and you just have to decide if it's a priority for you. Obviously for me, it VERY much is! read more

Everyone here is always super helpful. Love the atmosphere and returns are always super easy as long as you have your receipt. I wish the store was larger, however, as it gets quite crowded in there when it's busy. I also wish they were open later than 7 during the week and 6 on sundays, but they have to follow the hours of the shopping center. read more

OK, so if you don't know Sephora, this is not the review for you, as I'm writing this to comment on this location only. I've been to at least a dozen different locations since beginning my social experiment of "How will my life change if I wear make-up every day?" And this location is by far the friendliest and kindest I've found. This company can attract snobbery to their workforce and sometimes when you walk into a store you can practically smell the disdain. Not so at the Arboretum location. Even back when I had absolutely no knowledge, they always treated me respectfully. Just walk in, tell them what you're looking for and inside five minutes they'll have you loaded up with free samples, awesome advice and the perfect answer to your beauty quandry! read more

Sometimes make up can be intimidating and overwhelming and they make it so easy! I prefer sephora to ulta because of the brands that they carry but I prefer THIS Sephora over the the others in Austin because of the quality of customer service they provide! I came in to restock favorite my perfume and eyeliners. I couldn't find my beloved Urban Decay Crash, and one of the associates took me around and showed me several options of similar colors in a range of prices, not just the expensive ones. She really knew the products well and found me a great new color. I had pleasant conversations with two other associates as I browsed nail polish and felt like the service hit the perfect balance of attentive without being overwhelming. The best part of my experience here was when I was being rung up at the register. The cashier scanned one of the eyeliner boxes, and then shook it saying "I think this box is empty" She opened it to check and sure enough, there was nothing in that box. She immediately left the register and got me another eyeliner, making sure the product was there. If she hadn't cared or hadn't been paying attention, I would have paid $24 for an empty box! Everyone there was so nice and made time to talk with me, even though I was there on a busy Sunday afternoon. read more

This review is really for one personal this location. I really wish I got his name the other day when I was there and I didn't. He had on great makeup and is super sweet and helpful!!! So I don't frequent Sephora much because much of what they sell is animal tested. And many of the folks that work here haven't taken the time to understand this issue. By the fella that helped me the other day did know and helped me find a great eyeliner from Tarte. Yes, Tarte sold out to a company who does animal testing but they don't do it and with being so limited I have to try do the best I can. Anyway, for the most part when I go here I'm greeted by the designated greeter and occasionally I will find someone helpful who understands the ethical issues but usually I go in ready to help myself, but not this time. What a refreshing treat to find someone so helpful ANd he also gave me a sample of a wonderful eye concealer. Anyway, he is a star!!! I have tried eyeliner after eyeliner after eyeliner, all professing to best be "the best", "waterproof", "blackest of black", etc., but unfortunately, none of them lived up to the hype. I then went to this Sephora and had the good luck of having Hope assist me. She listened to all of my conditions and recommended the PERFECT eyeliner and applied it on my eyelids with precision and skill and gave me some tips as to how I could duplicate the look. She was AWESOME! Hope made me feel so important and, even with a shaved head due to medical reasons, she made me feel like I rocked this look. I will never shop at this Sephora again. Their customer service is HORRIBLE. When I walked in, I was completely ignored. There were several sales people wandering the floors and I was never asked if I needed assistance. I spent ten minutes looking for a product that was not in stock and was only helped when I walked up to the cash register and asked myself. There was one sales rep who looked like she was coming to help me out. I was about to ask her for her assistance and she completely walked past me to play with another customer's baby. I finally got the rep to show me where the moisturizer was and she looked me up and down like there was no tomorrow. I was wearing a nice pair of dark rinse jeans, some flats and a nice shirt. I don't really understand why she was giving me the "once over". This is the fourth time I have been completely ignored by their snooty sales staff. I live less than 5 minutes from this sephora but i prefer to buy my items online sometimes. I jave gone in to this store multiple times and had no one ask me if i needed help. Sephora is my happy place. Every time I go there, whether I buy anything or not, I am treated like I'm really pretty and really important. Once they had me try 20 different lip glosses until I found the perfect one (Ballet Slippers by Lola). Once they helped me put together a gift basket thingy for a friend going through a tough time (and included some samples for me!). And just last week, they insisted that I come in on Saturday for a consultation with NARS makeup artist Rafael (last name unknown). CZ and I went and he made me look GLAMOROUS. So, of course, now I'm the proud owner of a bunch of NARS products and I'm back to the pencil eyeliner on the rim. Oooh, and I love all the impulse buy trial-size items . . . it's a great way to try a fragrance without buying a huge expensive bottle (Love by Juicy Couture is my latest find). I've had mostly great experiences at Sephora, but this weekend I had a not-great experience. I had a get-together on Saturday evening, and I needed to run in to Sephora and get some fun eyeshadows and lip glosses. The woman who "helped" me told me, "You have a lot of questions, and I'm the floor manager, so I have to walk the store, but I'll try to find someone to help you, or you can schedule a makeover." I love and hate this place! Though they can get really busy and sometimes it is hard to find help I can't help myself and keep going back. I do get a bit overwhelmed when I am there and find that I can easily be there for an hour or more before I even realize it. What I hate is even when I go in for just one thing I always come out with something else. Usually a lipstick shade or eyeshadow that I can't live without. Love sephora and loving this location. I've usually gone to Barton creek in the past but decided to swing by here instead because it's way closer. I've been there twice this week for purchases, a return, and color matching and getting some samples of products I'm looking into. Both times (even when it was SLAMMED on Saturday!) all the employees were eager to help with anything and everything without the hovering over you. And as someone who feels really awkward asking for samples, their happy to help attitude makes me feel way more comfortable about it. I got color matched from artist Kierra and she was great. Super sweet, down to earth, and listened attentively to all my needs in a foundation and problems I've had in the past, offered tips and tricks for better application as well, and explained the products and shades and my skins undertones. Every where from browsing the store, getting samples, getting color matched, and checking out, everyone who was on shift was polite, helpful, and you could tell they genuinely enjoyed working there. Allie D is one of the employees that specializes in skin care. I love her blunt nature--not offensive but to the point. She spent a good deal of time talking and advising my friend and I on our skin care needs. She was very adamant about trying to find us both products that garnered us the skin care solutions that we were both seeking for. She was able to give us knowledge of the products and what products contain along with samples. She really wanted to stress that if after consistent use, I wasn't getting the results I wanted, I could bring back the product and she would try and find something else that may work for my needs. (This was because she knew the limitations of samples were that a person couldn't use it over a long enough time period to see real, lasting results.) Allie really did do a great job helping and guiding us through the plethora of product that overwhelmed me, the average shopper. read more

I recently had an appointment with Jenny for a personalized beauty advising consultation and had the most amazing experience. First of all, she is so personal and we had so much fun. She took her time with me and explained why and what she was using so I could understand. She was extremely knowledgeable and while she advised me on which products would be best for me to purchase for daily use, she was by no means too pushy on any particular products. I have been using the products she recommended for over a month now and I absolutely love each and every one of them that she claimed as her "favorites". Since my appointment, I've gone back and purchased more of the products and every time I'm there the other staff members are just as personal and friendly. Not only do the products sell themselves, but with such a great staff the experience I get when I go there is awesome. Typically, I'm very overwhelmed at Sephora or other similar stores, but now I love this place and have recommended it to many of my friends and coworkers! read more

I absolutely love Sephora but I detest this particular location. I've been a regular there for at least a year and to note I am a VIB Rouge member. Yet, every time I go no one offers me assistance even when they're not particularly busy. Just employees looking around to make sure no ones stealing They only speak up after I've been in the store for an hour or so. Not to mention I've dealt with a couple of childish employees. I find them extremely arrogant and only willing to help out customers who fit their ideal. Which is why I buy nearly all of my things online at the Sephora website.
