I was in the market for a new makeup brush set. While Sephora has an extensive line of makeup brushes, other makeup lines have limited brushes. I actually wanted a whole new set of brushes along with the stand where they are stored. Unfortunately, I did not find exactly what I was looking for but did get 2 makeup brushes I needed. The Sephora line is about $30+ per brush. Sephora has many lines of makeup, perfumes and other beauty items. Service was off the chain! Drove 20 miles to check out a specific perfume, and no sooner had I picked up the bottle than a rep/salesperson took it out of my hand, pulled me over to another aisle, and doused me--without asking--in some kind of Eau de My Little Pony. "Do you like florals?" she enthused. I DETEST FLORALS. She then swabbed me down with alcohol, creating a pharmaceutical version of same zesty pink scent I got to smell all the way home. read more

Do not get your makeup done here unless you want to throw money down the drain with zero results. Booked a 30 min focus session and got eyeshadow applied. The entire service took 5 mins and cost $30. I feel robbed. I did tell a manger while I was still in the store. She was surprised that I already had my service. You certainly could not tell I had any makeup on. I have been to this location many times but this is the first time I have been to the store during the pandemic. The layout during these apcoliptic times is designed to have the consumer enter the store and immediately speak with an emplyoee at the front door who will advise of the store protocols. During the visit, I was advised of the new policies to inculde: no picking up samples, follow the path to enter and exit the store and no outside shopping bags allowed (only Sephora sanitized shopping bags are permitted to carry products in). Aside from these COVID protcals, the staff here is always helpful and the selection here is a plenty. read more

I went in and the first person I talked to was really helpful in helping me find my item, but then I went over to the perfume section and that's where everything started going wrong. I told the lady which scent notes I liked and the one she was suggesting didn't have much liquid in it to spray. Instead of getting a new bottle to spray, she decided to open the current bottle and spill the remaining contents all over my forearm and on the floor. She pointed me to a sink to wash off (after calling for help). Then another worked walked by and told me I SMELLED LIKE CELERY (an unpleasant smell to me and to most people). They already gave me the celery perfume to purchase so I brought it back to the fragrance counter to give it back as I was not purchasing it. I was then gaslit saying that it was "supposed to smell like that" which was not told to me in the original testing of the perfume. I checked the notes of the perfume and they mentioned nothing of the sort either. The worker who pointed out the stench then walked over and apologized (sarcastically). They tried to get me to test some other perfumes but I was so over it atp. I quickly ran to the checkout after feeling humiliated and am NEVER going back into that Sephora again. read more

This location is the worst I've ever been to. I am a Rouge member and spent a significant amount at the semi annual Sephora sale. I had returns from multiple orders of items where either the shade didn't match or I had a bad reaction to the product. I understand how difficult return transactions can be when items are brought in across multiple orders, so I put sticky notes on each item with the order number. The cashier I got was in the worst mood. I kept telling her I wrote down the order numbers if it helped, but she said "it doesn't help at all". Then she proceeded to huff and puff about how she was having difficulty with their system. She couldn't locate one item and offered me store credit, even though I gave her all the order numbers and have the receipts on my phone showing the purchase of the item. I told her I would not accept store credit, and she rolled her eyes and called over a lead / manager. He was able to process the return to my credit card very quickly, and he was very nice about it. No one should have to accept store credit when you bring in a receipt because you can't figure out your own system. Unfortunately my return receipts don't list the employees name or I would put it here. She was probably in her 40s. Dark hair. Awful bright pink lipstick. November 3 in the afternoon. If you want great customer service, I'd recommend the new Mueller location. The employees go out of their way to help you and will also offer samples without you having to bother someone to ask. read more

I normally don't shop at this Sephora but since this location is very close to my work I decided to check it out especially since it's a freestanding Sephora location & not a Sephora located inside a JC Penny store. So after 3 separate shopping visits @ this Sephora Great Hills Trail location here are my LIKES, HELPfUL TIPS & COULD BE BETTER... Likes: -really like how big the store is & all the windows w/ natural lighting -this store carries many more makeup brands..:-) -has a large selection of fake eyelashes to choose from all w/ different price points -this location offers FREE mini makeup sessions :)..I actually took advantage of this perk & bought fake eyelashes for $17 & the Sephora Beauty staff trimmed them & put them on for me :-)..which was awesome since I have never worn fake eyelashes before so it was very helpful :-) Helpful Tips: -since this store location does get very busy there is an employee standing right in front as you walk in the store who has a notepad & can help you get on a wait list so you can then be helped..or get on the wait list to take advantage of the free mini makeup session :-) -be prepared that this store location does get VERY busy & can get pretty crowded -this location has no restroom for customers to use.. -you are able to do returns from items purchased at a Sephora located inside a JC Penny at this free-standing location Could Be Better: -I wish this location better advertised the Personalized Services that they offer to customers because how am I supposed to know that the employee standing at the very front of the store when I walk in or out is there to help w/ taking my name to put on a wait list for such an awesome perk versus her just standing there to make sure no one is stealing..which is the impression I got on my 1st two visits at this location -and this free standing location also does not honor any of the Sephora freebie emails that get sent out which really sucks.. My favorite Sephora to run to if I need any Sephora exclusive makeup or skincare products. The ladies that work here are all incredibly helpful, and they have helped me regardless of my level of dress or makeup when I walked in. The Sephora location at Barton Creek Mall and Ulta should learn a thing or two from this Sephora branch. I received some nail polish as a present, but I don't use nail polish. So I went to Sephora and hoped that unopened nail polish would be returnable even without a gift receipt. Well the lady working as the cashier was so helpful. She scanned all the nail polishes, and patiently told me that some of the nail polishes were not purchased from Sephora. For the nail polishes that I could return, I was generated a $20 gift card, which I promptly redeemed for a staple make-up remover. If I had to choose one makeup store to go to at Austin, I would choose this branch of Sephora. It's nice and quiet if you go during a weekday afternoon, and the employees don't look down on you if you're not wearing Instagram level make-up. read more

We came for an online order and the lady with a hair clip was rude & had look like we were an inconvenience to her. She didn't greet us or bother to scan our barcode on the phone. I usually go to the Barton Creek mall Sephora, but since I moved up north I thought I'd check out the Arbor store. This was a mistake. In the mall, I look like any number of casually-dressed girls who wander in to buy beauty products, but here, I must have looked like a hobo with a big sign on my forehead that said "POOR - NOT WORTH YOUR TIME" because NO ONE helped me. No one acknowledged me when I walked in, no one helped me (even after passing by me and making eye contact with me several times), and all the makeup associates there seemed to be more interested in courting the tweens with their parents' credit cards than some random twenty-something dressed in shorts and a t-shirt. All I wanted was to try out a new foundation that I'd heard good things about, while running about five other errands. Obviously it was my mistake to not wear a fancy expensive outfit and draw on some eyeliner before stepping foot into this shop. I finally had to flag down an associate to help me match my color to the foundation. The cashier who rang me up was the total opposite of everyone else in the store -- super friendly, bubbly, happy, and communicative. She is the only one who redeemed this store for me. Next time, I'm spending the extra gas to drive south to Barton Creek Square than to bump the numbers for this snobfest. read more

I never really feel obligated to leave reviews unless I have an awesome experience. This is my first negative review and I feel it's more than warranted. This location is the biggest joke of a Sephora I've ever been to. Not once in the 2 years that I've lived in the area has any asked me if they could help me. Not even once. They all stare like they're shocked a customer has walked in and don't know how to react. Whenever I finally flag someone down, I'm usually passed off to 2 or 3 other people before finally being helped. That, or they tell me to wait 15-20 minutes. I'm a pretty patient person, but when every single time I come in and have to wait or force someone to help me, that's when my patience wears thin. I live in walking distance from this location and it's enough to make me drive all the way up to Georgetown or down south for a better experience. I'm a makeup junkie who lives basically next door to this Sephora and I refuse to go back. They're never any help. I went to two different Sephora's yesterday and both experiences were not pleasant. This was the first store I visited and the man who initially came up to help me was actually very friendly and enjoyable to talk to. Unfortunately he didn't know the answer to some of my questions so he referred me to someone with more experience. This person ended up being impatient and sassy. She didn't even end up being very helpful matching shades. When I left the store my fiancé commented on how rude she was. In the sun two of the three shades she recommended were totally off (too dark and they were on my hand which is even darker than my face). I could clearly see the other shade on my hand would have been a closer match. I wish the man who had first helped me would have recommended shades, he probably would have done at least as good of a job and I would have had a more enjoyable experience. read more

Like most fellas, when we think Sephora we think chicks n makeup. But since a close friend of mine started working there I found out that this place offers so much more. Pardon the confession, but growing up I always had bad skin.. I would struggle with acne and dermatillomania and used every over the counter acne product to try to get my skin clear and smooth. I ended up making my skin look horrible. Scarred, dried out, irritated and it got to the point where I hated looking myself in the mirror much less going out in public. Even to this very day I shy away from photos or cover my face because of how much I still struggle with how I feel about how I look in photos. I had become my own worst critic. I would use baby powder and talc to give my face a matte look because I hated how oily my skin was. I'd steal my brother's tinted acne cream(which didn't match my skin tone at all) to cover up blemishes and scars, and would go to school looking like a touched up doll who's face had been dragged on the concrete. Wearing hoodies, always looking down, having problems keeping eye contact. Anything to keep people from looking at me. I hated my high school years and my early 20's. I mention these painful memories because I want people to know that everyone, not just women struggle with these issues. Also to help break the stereotype that a store like this is only for ladies. Looking back at how much struggle I went through, I realize now that I just didn't know anything about skincare or how let my skin heal from what I had done to it. I saw my skin as the problem, instead of how I viewed myself as the problem. Years later, I walk into this Sephora location and got to know some of the staff in skincare and they shared so much knowledge with me. It makes me wish I had known about this sooner because as a guy, we never really put much effort into our skin health which ultimately effects on inner health and self esteem. In my stubborn mind you were either you're blessed with clear skin or you're cursed with bad. They introduced me to several skin care items that not only helped clear up my oily skin but also how to start repairing the scars. In time they started to fade and slowly I can see a healthier new face start to shine through. I could feel my self confidence start to rise and I was excited to and happy to start taking care of my skin as well as what I put into my body. Because of their help, I am now a huge fan of the Algenist Skincare Line as well as Anthony and Dr. Dennis Gross skincare products. There's way too many items to look at so I just stick with what care products work for me. I know many people go here to mask up who they are underneath, and I know that makeup is fun and exciting for people but I want to call attention to how much the staff really does care about bringing out the best in you, with or without makeup. We call the shots on what we want, but sometimes we honestly don't know what we want..sometimes we just want to be or look like someone else. And in truth that's not a healthy way to live, and I am glad they helped me see that. But it starts with taking that first step in caring enough about yourself to ask for the help, and this team gives it 100%. There was no judgement, no intimidation and lots of sincere empathy and care given to me. There's no judgement or criticism on who you are or the journey you've been through to get here and seek out help. They just want you to walk with confidence and they have the goods and expertise to get you started on that path home. They worked with me on what I could afford and allowed me to sample some of the other products to see how I like them. The customer service experience couldn't have been any better. So my advice to anyone looking to start from the ground up in renewing their look is to simply to start with a great skincare advisor and work on rebuilding your canvas. All the products in the world can only do so much if you're not glowing from the inside out. And the staff here can help you, regardless of who you are or what your story is. Sephora completely deserves 5 stars! I have never been what you'd call a "high maintenance" kind of girl, and to be honest, places like this terrify me! But my dermatologist recommended I start using a brand of makeup sold exclusively in stores like this one or Ulta, so I thought I'd give Sephora a try (I've had too many horrible experiences at Ulta...yikes!). I walked in without ANY makeup on and to my surprise, no alarms went off and no spotlights fell on me identifying me as the girl who obviously had never been here before and no idea what she was doing. No one ran up to me attacking me with mascara and concealer, and I was free to explore around to get my bearings without even a single judgmental look from one of the staff members (I hope you're paying attention, Ulta employees!). And when I did need help, help was to be found! I was looking for two products in particular, and the woman who helped me (I wish I had gotten her name!) was super knowledgeable. Her educated guesses about what I wanted were spot-on. Once I told her that I have oily skin and really care about buying exclusively cruelty-free products, she steered me in the right direction towards those products and helped match my color to the foundation I wanted. She also gave me recommendations about other product lines I might be interested in trying that were in alignment with what I was looking for. Her opinions were straightforward and I didn't feel like she was trying to make me buy anything I didn't want. I also felt comfortable asking her questions and didn't feel at all like she thought it was something I was supposed to know already because I'm a female. I left that store with a tremendous sigh of relief. Mission accomplished! I love Sephora for many reasons, one of the biggest is the customer service. The employees are always willing to discuss the products and what makes one better then the other. They are also always willing to give you a mini make over at the drop of a dime. This is the one thing I find lacking at other make-up counters. I have also noticed that they always seem to be very knowledgeable of the products they carry. Honestly they must host employee workshops or something. I shopped for a oil control gel to wear under my make up. Believe it or not they had 9 to chose from. To be honest I have been to many Sephora stores before and I can say that I would give these place less stars because the management team did not seem to be pleasing to the consumer. BUT the reason why I'm giving 4 stars is because I came in with my dress wrinkled and one of the awesome sales floor customer service team gave me a straightening iron to flat out my dress which was great!
