Korean bowls are great, they feel like a decent compromise on value and nutrition (as far as eating out goes). Bowls are packed with relatively nutritious ingredients, and I can rarely finish a whole bowl in one sitting. SeoulSpice kept up with that trend, generally, but the execution left me hanging a bit. The japchae were on the overcooked side, with a soft spaghetti-like texture and a thickness to them that didn't remind me of glass noodles I'm used to. And then the pork...cut like brisket into thick slabs, chewy and almost gristly in some bites. Just not great. I think with some tweaks to the ingredients this place could be great like other Korean bowl spots, but on my visit it just wasn't there. read more

This was a wonderful quick dinner option after a long day. A quick yelp searcher showed that this place had healthy options, so I walked over and caught them about an hour before close. I got a kid meal, and it was a surprisingly substantial portion of food. The glass noodles were calling me, so I picked those as my base, spicy pork as my protein, and cucumber and kale as my veggies. The service was excellent, and I was in and out within five minutes. It was very good. A nice option after some sightseeing. My son and I had the noodle option and my other son had the rice option. I wish I could have seen everything before I filled out the order slip. It was crazy busy at lunch time. But we were able to place our order, watched as it was made and the pay. The sauces I got were so good together and recommended by the employee (sesamiso and creamy sriracha). If I'm here again I need to try a rice bowl. With all the Asian restaurants we have in SoCal we don't have one like this. It's very close to the Capital One Arena on 7th Street. We parked on a paid garage (there aren't any free garages in DC) on 11th Ave G st. We were recommended this place by friends. Seating place is very less, probably 4 tables that seat 6. It wasn't busy this windy and cold Saturday. My Kimchi Crunch Bowl was a good portion. It was spicy and so many flavors. While in Washington DC in June 2024, I stopped by Seoul Spice, a 100% gluten-free Korean version of Chipotle. This isn't fine dining. There are no waiters. It's quick service. As a Celiac, this is one spot I always visit while in DC and there are locations throughout the East Coast and Illinois.  I personally like the beef bulgogi, a thin, marinated beef for my protein choice.  I also like the japchae, a sweet potato glass noodle dish as my base, only because japchae usually contains gluten at other Korean restaurants because it contains soy sauce, which contains wheat, which contains gluten.  There are also prepackaged desserts, like cookies, available. I wish we had more locations in Northern Virginia as this place was such a good place to get a quick bite in. If you like Bibambap, this is definitely a great option as everything is customizable. If you have ever eaten at chipotle before, then you know how this works. Pick your bowl whether it's with rice, noodle, salad, or even a " korrito " (kimbap). From there, you can pick up your protein, veggies, sauces, and toppings. I really like how generous they are with the portions here and you can really do no wrong with any combination. Everything here is just good. For the price, I think if it's under 15 bucks it's a good deal for it being right in the middle of DC. Affordable would be best described this place as you get your moneys worth for sure. I will admit, I don't remember what I ordered but my experience was very pleasant, the bowl I made was a delight after walking around in the hot sun the whole day and I just feel like it doesn't make you feel bloated either. I had a ginger carrot salad dressing but didn't need it because the bulgogi bowl had enough seasoning to skip it. I worked in DC for about two and a half years. I can count on one hand the number of times that I actually ordered lunch from a restaurant. I was, surprisingly, pretty good at bringing my own lunch and snacks to work. However, on my very last day at my last employer, I just had to treat myself. I decided to check out SEOULSPICE because I love Korean food and I figured this would be something I could grab quickly. I placed an order online for a Klassic rice bowl, which included bulgogi beef, veggies, Korean hot sauce, and a few other tasty accompaniments. By the time I walked the two or three blocks to the restaurant, my food was ready. I gave my name, got my food, and I was back out the door. My food was so good! This place is Chipotle-style Korean food; it's delicious! The service is efficient and fast; the employees are friendly. Most importantly, the food is delicious! My boyfriend and I shared a noodle bowl (japchae) with spicy pork, all the veggies, sides of Korean hot sauce and ginger-carrot sauce (which we ended up pouring into the bowl), and all the free toppings. The noodles were well cooked, and the entire bowl was deliciously seasoned! It was also well portioned; my boyfriend and I had plenty to eat, and we still had enough leftover for one of us to have one more meal from it. I highly recommend this place! While I'm not Korean, I have been to Korea and live in Los Angeles area where we have plenty of authentic Korean options. We were in the area with a growling craving for Korean food, so we stopped in here. SeoulSpice brings Korean food into the realm of customizable bowls, using either rice or japchae (Korean marinated potato starch noodles) as the base. From there, customers can take their pick from a variety of proteins, vegetables, and sauces. To me, the completed bowl most closely resembled a serving of bibimbap - a traditional mixed rice dish. My husband and I both swung for the noodles, which turned out to be a surprisingly tasty base. When my husband struggled to choose between marinated pork and beef for his protein, the server kindly offered him a 'half and half'. As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to find that they not only offered tofu, but that it was crumbled into textured and marinated chunks (instead of the raw, unseasoned tofu squares that are offered as the vegetarian protein elsewhere). The spicy Korean sauce is gochujang-based, and the familiar fermented chili-pepper heat was a delicious topping for this heat-lover. That said, my husband opted to leave the sauce out entirely and pronounced his bowl "just as good without anything on it." There are a few counter seats available against the window (no more than six), but there's some clever stadium seating against the far wall that allows for far more unstructured seating. You'll have to hold your bowl as you eat, but on a cold winter evening, we were grateful for a warm place to dine. read more

Interesting experience. My cousin and I were walking around the downtown area and found this place. I ordered a bowl with chicken and all vegetables except for kimchi and another vegetable, which I could not identify (brings me to my suggestion). The menu states vegetables on the menu above; however, does not have the kinds of ingredients used to customize the bowls listed on the glass separating the customer from the food and the employees. I am thinking a system like Baskin Robbins would be better, where flavors are listed top to bottom as they are located in distance from you and the glass. I had to tell the employee helping me out that I wanted the vegetable nearest to me or vegetable closest to the backwall. It was just inconvenient. read more
