I would rate this 3.5 stars. I was in Ann Arbor for a 1 night business trip. My colleague and I were tired and didn't want to drive. Seoul Garden was a 5-minute walk from the hotel, so we tried it out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a large place with lots of room and a small bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Some of the tables were set up for Korean BBQ, which we didn't try because you need two people, and my colleague doesn't eat meat. My colleague is a vegetarian, and he had a lot of choices. He tried a vegetarian version of the Bibimbap. He thought it was good, properly prepared, and flavorful. I tried the spicy pork with onions in a red sauce. It was good and hearty. It really wasn't spicy at all, which was a bit of a letdown. The dishes came with a small amount of rice and a number of sides like kimchi and other vegetables. They also had a full liquor license. They made a really good Mai Tai. The value was also very good. Wow! This place I wonderful! When I was in undergrad at Uof M, my Korean roommate introduced me to many Korean spots in the downtown area. They are all long gone. I've been Searching for a local spot that is not just BBQ. They have many options which range from lavish Bbq to simple apps. The banchan is fabulous and can be refilled. I got 2 Long Island iced teas and BbQ with spicy pork. There was plenty of delicious food and it was reminiscent of my favorite Korean dishes in 1990. service was wonderful, fast and friendly. After about four years, we finally came back to this restaurant, and it feels like a completely different place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The remodel really transformed it. The layout has changed significantly and the space feels much more open and updated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came for dinner as a group of five. There's a BBQ side menu (not pictured) that lets you choose sets of 3, 4, or 5 meats from their full list. Some premium options, like the soy garlic rib-eye, come with an additional $5 upcharge. We ordered the 5-meat BBQ set: bulgogi, chadol (brisket), spicy chicken, galbi, and soy garlic rib-eye. The BBQ came with banchan, and we also added several shareable dishes: chicken fried rice, vegetable egg rolls, rock shrimp, steamed egg, and kimchi tofu. The meats were all very good. Everything was well-marinated and flavorful. The spicy chicken tasted great, but it was cut into smaller pieces, which made it a bit messy and harder to cook on the grill. Still enjoyable overall. The rock shrimp was cooked just right and had a nice texture. All of the side dishes paired well with the BBQ and helped round out the meal. Sauce options included sesame oil with salt and pepper and fermented bean sauce. There wasn't a dedicated sauce for the brisket (chadol), but the staff let us know we could bring our own sauces if we wanted. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We visited on a Monday evening around 5:30 pm, and it wasn't busy at all. There were plenty of tables and lots of space, which made for a relaxed dining experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was attentive without being intrusive. We weren't in the mood for a hibachi table, so we skipped the hibachi show and big dinner and picked three things from their regular menu. We ordered a Spicy Pork Combo ($20), an order of three egg Rolls ($6), and an order of six humongous Soy Garlic chicken wings ($12). As soon as we ordered, a variety of Banchan side dishes came out right away. There were six of them -sticky rice, kimchi, potatoes, broccoli, crunchy pickled vegetables, and spicy seafood strips. What a great way to start the meal. My spicy pork was fantastic- a heaping platter of thinly sliced very spicy pork strips over sauteed sliced onions. The wings were gigantic, some of the biggest we've ever seen, and they were delicious. We both thought the egg rolls were the weak link because there didn't seem to be much inside except shredded cabbage. It came with 6 ban chan (side dishes) and Korean tea. The food was both hot and delicious. The service was very friendly and attentive. I came here for the all you can eat Korean bbq. There were 2 options for all you can eat, option A had more meat and side options for $38 and option B had a little bit less for $32. I ordered the more expensive option because they had 2 choices of Kalbi for the beef portion. Ultimately for 3 people, we ordered 6 servings of Kalbi, 3 Chadol, 1 bbq chicken, 1 ribeye, 1 seafood pancake, 1 veggie dumpling, 1 kimchi, 1 steamed egg and 2 rice. The total ended up being over $100. I would say for 3 people it wasn't bad in price! The food was all good! The service was good! We came Saturday afternoon (3pm) and didn't have to wait for a table. It's nice that they spent money to update the restaurant and it looks great. Love the open concept and additional sunlight from the new windows that been added. The chairs were nice but it was bit uncomfortable after a while. Unfortunately with the upgrade, they removed the sushi options and it's full Korean restaurant. Menus are all in English now and they jacked the prices up by 50% or more. I wouldn't complain about higher fees if their food taste went up, however it went down, the serving bowls were downgraded as well. I guess this is reality of inflation and Covid affects. While this place was going through upgrades, they opened a new kbbq joint on Liberty - The Seoul - to compete with Tomukun. I don't know if that location has better food, but I would assume it's the same. Bit disappointed with their food quality. read more

I've been coming here for several years now; it's not my go-to Korean restaurant in the area, but it's not bad. I like the rotating banchan here, and you can ask for some hot barley tea! Here are some of my favorites: * Tripe Soft Tofu Stew - Not the best in the area, but it will satisfy your soondubu cravings. I love the tripe mixed the spicy broth that's pretty flavorful. Pretty big portions. No complaints. * Cold Buckwheat Noodles (Mul Naengmyeon) - It's pretty delicious here! Get some kalbi or bulgolgi (not marinated) and you have an explosion of flavors in your mouth. Sadly, they give you one or two small pieces of beef in each naengmyeon. Not a lot of noodles either, just a lot of broth in a big bowl to make it appear large. KBBQ here is on the more expensive side and relatively small portions. It in centrally located to several hotels in Ann Arbor. We started out with the large size of Korean chicken bites (can order in two flavers), the seafood pancake (traditional Korean pancake) and fried calamari (Korean style). The three appetizers were excellent. Then we ordered the spicy pork and beef dish (cooked in the kitcen with onions) - they were also a hit. I think Seoul Garden excels at Korean food that isn't their kbbq which is kind of a bummer for their ratings as most people end up reviewing them for that. I wish they'd check out the beef brisket being sold at Hyundai for kbbq because that's what I consider good chadolbaegi, while the brisket they serve is a bit dry and tough. Aside from their somewhat lackluster kbbq, the Korean entree menu is actually worth checking out! Their seafood soondubu, jjajangmyeon, and soups like yukgaejang and kalbitang are all excellent! I would like to highlight that the jajangmyeon is one of the best iterations of this dish I've tried among many different locations throughout the US! I'll be craving this dish any time I'm looking for some cozy comfort food and feel super lucky and grateful that Seoul gardens version is actually that good! read more

We were seated in the way back at a grill table. Had waters out quick. They are spacing guests out with more than 6 foot spacing between. They are cleaning surfaces between guests. We ordered the spicy BBQ chicken, one order, an avocado salad, house salad and the ttoekbokki for ro share. Neither of us were terribly hungry but were craving some spicy Korean food, then again when don't I want Korean food? I really like that there wasn't a minimum of 2 BBQ orders since my husband wasn't really hungry and wanted salad and tteokbokki and just a few pieces of chicken at most. It's also a plus that they trim up their chicken quite well and really lean too. The grill was out in minutes. The bountiful array of banchans were out, along with our avocado and house salad as well as the spicy BBQ salad. The spicy BBQ chicken plate was out and was nicely trimmed and so lean too. The meat cooked up nicely and tasted good too, nice with the neatly trimmed romaine leaves, a dot of the soy bean paste. Be sure to get some fresh garlic to grill up and eat with the chicken too. The house salad comes with ginger. The avocado salad is sliced avocados on top of the house ginger salad. The banchans are spicy pickled radish, fish cake, kimchi, shredded radish and broccoli. The waitress here is on top of things and is attentive and quick to respond, she's efficient and checks up on us too. The tteokbokki isn't spicy, more peppery, yet still flavorful. The sauce isn't a thick pepper paste and more soupy. They offer full meal kits to take and cook up at home for the entire family. Average prices here. I am a bi fan of korean cuisine so staying in a hotel nearby decided to try this place. I ordered the Jaeuk kimchi bokum, a stir fry supposed to contain pork belly, kimchi & onions in spucy sauce. When the dish arrived I noticed something I have never seen. It was almost 50% rice cakes! Hardly any pork could be found. Obviously a way to cheat the customer & lower your ingrediant cost. The meal came with plenty of banchan/side dishes, which were more generous than many of the restaurants that we've been to. We had the meat combo for 2-3 people, which came with the rice and steam egg. We also got a side salad that came with it. We ordered calamari tempura, kimchi pancake, spicy short rib soup, and jampjaeng. It was all very good. Service was very attentive. They did add a "surcharge" or tip, on their own, which was odd. Not a fan of imposed forced tipping, which was 18%. The service was great, and if they didn't force it on us I would have tipped much more. Place: This place is off campus of AA (Ann Arbor). You definitely need a car to get to this place. There is parking and I would say it is a great bring your parents to this place if you feeling hungry and want to pack left overs!
