Never thought I would have a vegan Chinese option here in Monmouth county! All I can say is that this place is AMAZING. Their veggie chicken is out of this world and if you are thinking of coming here then DO IT. You will not be disappointed at all, I promise! A roadside place that's very easy to miss--or mistake for Italian... But, particularly if you are local to local-ish and vegetarian, make a point of finding it and stopping. Small, hole in the wall-y, and comfortable enough, we eat here fairly regularly and the food is always excellent. And as vegetarians eventually learn, there's a lot of hidden animal products--broths especially--in otherwise vegetarian sounding Chinese cooking. A real find for me. read more

My husband got the vegetarian sesame chicken and I got veggie lo mein... both were soooooooo delicious!!!! The sesame soy meat was cooked well and had great flavor .. and they aren't cheap with the veggies in the lo mein. Vegetable egg rolls also so good and not greasy at all !!!!!! read more

This is complicated. Because I've been going here for years. The food is good. But the service has gotten so horrible. Our delivery never arrived after over an hour and a half and i had to drive there to pick it up. The owner is very nice, but barely speaks English which makes customer service issues difficult. If you eat there, I'll give it a thumbs up. Although the decor is cheap and ugly. The food is a greasier cheaper version than Veggie Heaven (north jersey) but good for mock meat type Chinese vegetarian food Just don't order and expect them to show up on time. read more

Got a mix of foods and it's was all blah. Chicken and broccoli- chicken tender, broccoli mush. Egg roll- not bad but a bit dry. Shrimp roll- same Pu Pu platter: Beef on a stick- zero flavor (odd as it should be marinated. Chicken wings were burnt on one side for some kind of soggy for others (need to flip those things around a bit when you cook 'em). Crab Rangoon- not sure what to say other than spongy. I think this place needs to look at adding some freshness and flavor to the food. I'm just not seeing anything that would make me reorder. There was a time when there were great Asian restaurants down here and you ordered from them every week. I guess those days are gone. Delivery was very quick which was nice. read more

Went to Sentosa for the 1st time tonight. Upon opening our order we realized we were missing an item. Also, our dumplings were burnt, rangoons cold. I called to let them know and the woman I spoke to told me I was absolutely wrong and that she packed the bag herself. I reassured her that our item was indeed missing. She accused me of missing the item and told me to look again, as she said that another woman came on and abruptly said come get your order. So I did. When I arrived my order was waiting, an older woman came out and asked me if I looked in the bag insisting she knows im wrong. Keep in mind I had 5 items. I could see one was missing. She then accused me of wanting more shrimp bc the order only has 5 in it then told me I didn't want to pay for the larger order. All this in front of guests as they gawked at us as she berated me. Delicious. The food, the service, the crispy noodles you get before your meal...all a delight at Sentosa. If you're looking for fancy it's not here but generous portions that make you feel like a king await you. I had the hot & sour soup to start which was delicious. Saw some people had recommended this place on line so I figured I'd try it out. Service was great and food was amazing. I used to love this place. I really did. I'm vegetarian and this is one of the few restaurants in the area with a huge vegetarian selection. I ate here fairly frequently. Until the day I got food poisoning here. As did the other people I ate with that day. They both had chicken. I had tofu. I don't know how you get food poisoning from tofu, but Sentosa managed to make it happen. It was very unpleasant, but more than anything, it was just disappointing. I'm sure this was a one-time issue and they don't normally make their customers sick, but I can't go back here. The lady who runs it is super nice. She always remembered me and my mom (or at least acted like she did). Hopefully they've fixed whatever the issue was. read more

Favorite Chinese restaurant, always get take out from here whether it's delivery or we simply drive a few minutes down the road to pick it up. Food is always fresh, warm, ready to eat. Normally order from the "healthy section" if you would like to call it. Great steamed veggies, chicken, shrimp, etc. As well as great soups, and other dishes if I'm not feeling the healthy option. I ordered the sesame veg. chicken today only to find a DEAD WORM in my broccoli. She saw me inspecting it (probably because this happens a lot) asked, "whats wrong?" and I replied with "I think I found a worm in my food". I had placed the DEAD WORM on a napkin to get a better look, and I handed it to her to prove I'm not just making it up. She proceeds to SMUSH IT clearly so I couldn't take a picture of it or look at it further and goes "I think it was just a spice". **There are cockroaches in their miso soup from time to time and apparently it is no big deal to them** It was a sad and somewhat soured heart that I give this dump one single, solitary star. I have only ordered from here a few times and up until last Wednesday I would have given them a 5 star review. Their food wasn't outstanding but finding vegan food at a reasonable price is difficult. I was so excited at the option that I actually talked it up to a decent number of people. This past Wednesday I ordered a few items to take back to my office for lunch. For the first few bites everything was fine, then I encountered my first hair in my General Tso's mock chicken. I was sharing the lunch with my wife and didn't want to make a scene of it, so I slid the hair out to the side discreetly and kept it moving. A few bites later I see my wife plucking at her fork, and she pulls a second slightly longer hair. Not wanting her to get completely sketched out over it and still hoping to keep Sentosa open as a future option, I said it was no big deal and told her we should always extend a three hair limit to any take out establishment. We laughed it off and proceeded, a little skeeved, but no worse for the experience. I went into an adjacent room to get my cellphone and I heard my wife scream. I went in to see what was going on and there is was, in all its glory, a cockroach floating in the miso soup. I don't know about you, but I have a strict zero cockroaches in my soup policy, unless I've ordered cockroach soup. Which I did not. I called Sentosa and described the situation to the woman who works there. Her reply was, "So what you want?" I told her that as a business owner she should probably do something to rectify the situation, at which point she offered that I could bring her back the soup and she would exchange it for soup with no cockroaches in it. I explained that I had picked the food up on my lunch break and didn't live near her restaurant and she suggested that I bring the soup back to her after work and she would exchange it then. I then I explained that I wanted a refund for the entire order, since obviously I wasn't going to eat anything else from her establishment. Her reply was that I should bring back all of the food to prove that I wasn't eating it and she would give me a refund when I returned it. I explained that I wasn't going to do that and asked that she just issue a refund for the check. She agreed. My bill was 23 dollars and change. Today I checked my credit card statement, she refunded me approximately 7 dollars. read more

My husband and I were out for a drive last night to search for a "new to us" Chinese restaurant. When my husband saw the word "Vegetarian" on the front wall he wasn't sure he wanted to try it. I told him that I was sure they had meat dishes too. We ordered a few dishes and they were all DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!! Finally! We found a great Chinese place!! Oh and the staff was very sweet too. This is the best Chinese food I have had in a long while. The dished were flavorful and fresh. The meals were could to order and included lots of veggies. I am a meat eater but do get freaked out when biting into slimy wads of meat. These were smaller pieces of meat well cooked. I will definitely be going back soon read more

I wish I could give this place more stars. We've been coming here for years. We live too far for their delivery but go to dine in regularly. Normally I would give this place a better review. The food is usually decent, though I had noticed it wasn't as good the last few times we ordered. However, almost choking to death on a piece of steel wool in the crust of my Pineapple Pork dish I had delivered this evening has kind of cooled me for them. It was a fairly large and really visible piece of twisted metal. That kind of thing getting into the actual food prep area unnoticed speaks to some possibly rather severe kitchen sanitation issues to someone who has worked in restaurant kitchens previously. Now I get to most likely go hungry for the rest of the evening because my throat hurts too much to eat anything after literally having to reach down my own throat to pull the steel wool out. The seating area is kind of small but I have never had a problem getting a table because it seems like most of their business is takeout. My husband and I have been going here for over 5 years now and we have never had a bad meal or had an order come out wrong. The portions are very generous and the owner is such a sweet lady. We are vegetarians and its pretty hard to find a place that has this many options for us. The veggie menu is enormous and everything I've ever had has been delicious. I highly recommend the deluxe scallion pancakes and the house delight entree... the potatoes and veggie chicken in brown sauce with brown rice is so delicious. Vegetarians & Vegans BEWARE!!! I try to frequent this place a few times a month as I often live a vegan/vegetarian diet. Well, today, I cheated and ordered a shrimp roll to go with my take out lunch today. Got home & to my surprise, my shrimp roll was an egg roll which contains PORK. Well, I didn't know until after 2 bites. I've never in my life ordered or consumed an egg roll. So I know it wasn't my fault. I was so upset I immediately called & vented my displeasure. The owner barely said a word and just muttered "sorry"....Sorry????? I come in often enough she could've offered something for my troubles. Nope, just "sorry". It's a big deal to me.
