This is by far the worst Chinese I have had in the area. Wonton soup tasted like sink water. Crab Rangoons were over cooked and the filling did not taste right. Pork dumplings were bland. General tso's chicken was over fried and just not good. Chicken wings and ribs were alright. read more

We came here because my wife is vegan and Sentosa has an extensive selection of fake meat dishes. We were surprised upon arrival by a sign on the door that warned that, while we could eat inside, we'd have to order at the counter and our food would be presented in "to-go" containers. In the end, eating here wasn't that bad, but half the lights were off (strange) and the place was eerily silent. But the woman in charge did provide polite table service, giving us paper plates and napkins. We were relieved that we didn't have to eat in our car! The food was OK but the sauces were way too sugary. I guess this is "New York style Chinese" but the sweetness was cloying. Still, thumbs up for the many plant-based options. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. The shrimp and lobster sauce was fishy. Our shrimp rolls were burnt and tasted old. The spare ribs were like biting into a rubber band. When you think Jersey shore, Chinese cuisine is not the first thing that comes to mind. So what do you do when you have a hankering for it and in you're in the Brick neighborhood? Come to Sentosa restaurant. I have a feeling they are more of a takeout than sit in place because no one was there when we arrived (or maybe because it was a Sunday afternoon) but the woman working was so polite and pleasant that it didn't matter. The only reason I'm taking off two stars is because the tap water tasted a little like bell peppers (she did offer bottled but I was being frugal) and there were not as many vegan options for my friend as we would have liked. My food was great! Not too greasy or heavy and they had a variety of interesting dishes to choose from. I will definitely be ordering from them again when I'm down there. read more

This gem is located in the middle of nowhere in Brick, NJ and it is a regular place us NJ vegans visit. Almost no one knows that they have an extensive vegan-asian menu, and it is usually quiet and private inside. It was my first experience going out to eat as a vegan I was so impressed and happy. I have brought many vegan and non-vegan friends, and even my entire family there and there is something for everyone on the menu. All of my friends and family have loved the place. This place is incredibly affordable and it is family run. I really miss going to this place! If you are ever around the area stop in! Get the scallion pancakes!! :) No alcohol menu, it's BYOB. The place is tiny, comfy and clean enough, but by no means classy. They do their most business thru take out I assume. Beware, if you have had great vegan food in a city, don't compare it to them. Was super excited to try this place given it catered to vegan/vegetarian with setan/soy/tofu.... Unfortunately, nothing but dissapointment. Veggie tofu seaweed soup was okay but veggies weren't cooked enough, still essentially raw. Sweet and sour soy entree was tough and chewy along with a find of human hair. Yup. You read it, human hair. Always an unappetizing find. Waters were never refilled. The other two meat entrees were okay. We were also charged full price. Even after I didn't finish my meal thanks to the human hair putting me off of my dinner. Sadly, won't be back. read more

Good food and prices. We ordered take out- we were very happy with the pan fried dumplings, chicken with broccoli, and beef with string beans. The flavors and sauces were very good and diverse. Went there tonight after reading the reviews. I was looking forward to it. Soup was ice cold. I ordered something with noodles, chicken in a peanut sauce. I didn't even finish my cold wonton soup my meal came out. I said, oh I wanted to finish my soup first. She literally just walked away. Food was terrible, no flavor and disgusting. A friend of mine suggested Sentosa for their vegan menu- not just a few offerings but a rather decent sized list of things to choose from. My husband and I always start our meals off with an appetizer of sunshine ribs which never disappoint. The place is small but the food is always delicious every time and the service is always very polite and pleasant. I'd love to see even more added to the vegan options but I'm rather impressed and delighted with what is already available. This has become a weekly visit for us on Friday nights to travel from ocean TWP to Brick. Little tip: order the sunshine ribs and the tso's veg chicken. You won't be disappointed! read more

Fan-freaking-tastic. I'm going to start by saying I've been living within 2 miles of this place, having lived in this area for the last ~7 years, and only *recently* did I start going here. I kind of wanted to hit myself for not trying it sooner. I'll admit, I was reluctant to try this place at first. While I have absolutely nothing against it, I'm about the farthest thing you can get from a vegetarian, and a vegetarian friend of mine was the one who was telling me about how good this place was. He continued to tell me how amazing it was for about a year, until he came over one day and all but dragged me to their doorstep. I'll tell you what.. I'm glad he did. The food here is really great. As I stated earlier, I'm not a vegetarian. That being said, the vegetarian food is fantastic. The "General Tso's Mushroom", I actually like *better* than the chicken variant (which is also quite good here, mind you). The vegetarian "sunshine ribs" are downright amazing, and the Malaysian menu has some pretty great stuff on it too. Don't make the same mistake I did, and write this place off as a sub-par Chinese place that caters to vegetarians. Give it a shot, you will not be let down! read more

Fresh, better-than-average ingredients with an intriguing menu. Decent value, with some of the best Chinese food in Brick. Scallion pancakes are addicting although not as healthy as I'd like. The sunshine ribs are also surprisingly appealing even though they unfortunately seem to be fried. Although there are certainly enough healthy options on the menu! Perhaps my favorite part about Sentosa is how well they can make almost any meal on the menu healthy without the hundreds of extra calories oils add. Plus, the meats are relatively high quality for this type of Chinese restaurant! Update: it's been a few months since I ate from here. The tasty morsel menu can do no wrong: the autumn rolls I tried were very good and the wonton soup is still quality. Unfortunately, the meats and fish were not that great in my main dish. Tasted overcooked and are not the same quality I remember, which is a shame since the tasty morsels and sauces are very good here. Hopefully it was a one-off night but I was disappointed by the main dish. Sentosa has a better overall menu and superior sauces/soup but China Express has had higher quality meats the last few times I ordered from them. read more

Not your typical chinese takeout but a really neat hole in the wall Malaysian place with lots of inventive vegetarian dishes. You don't have to be a vegetarian to eat here (I'm not) but if you want an alternative once in a while and you're feeling like you want to eat veggies in an exciting way try this. I know this place had been here for a while so I went here with a coworker and ordered the Autumn Roll and veg Tso's chicken. Was really impressed with both dishes and the tea was great too as someone else on here had mentioned. I'll definitely be returning to try more on the menu. I am never disappointed when I eat at Sentosa. The quality and variety of vegetarian food is overall the best I have seen yet in Asian/Chinese cuisine. I have been going there for 15 years now and tonight's dinner was as delicious as the first time. I recommend the Chickn Nuggets, Scallion Pancakes, Crispy Tofu, Bean Curd Scechzuan Style, Veggie Genreal Tso's, Spring Roll and Cold Sesame Noodles with Spicy Peanut Sauce. Sentosa was one of the first vegan / vegetarian friendly restaurants that I discovered when I moved into the area several years ago. Since then, a few other accommodating spots have sprung up, but Sentosa will always have a special place in my heart. The food is great and there is an extensive vegan/vegetarian menu, my favorites are the lo Han chicken or sesame chicken, sauces are flavorful and "chicken" & veggies are amazing. Sunshine ribs or scallion pancakes are yummy for appetizers and their springs rolls are crunchy and delicious. Whenever my friends come to visit, Sentosa is always a must! The only reason I wouldn't give Sentosa 5 stars is that the restaurants decor is in dire need of a revamp, but the food and service are excellent. read more

So there's a lot of hype about Sentosa. We finally decided to try it out. I do whole heartedly believe that this place will be a gem - once I find that one dish that sends it through the roof for me. On our first visit, it was just OK. I got "pad thai" which was really just mei fun. It didn't taste bad, but I was expecting pad thai and didn't get it. Also, the shrimp wasn't deveined and that freaks me out. Egg rolls were very good. Chicken satay appetizer was great, too. Inside it is very small and dark. Cramped. The proprietor was very sweet. Heard good things about this place so we thought we'd get some take out tonight. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. I received Chicken and SHRIMP (what tasted exactly like Mei Fun - not any Pad Thai I've ever had) Pad Thai. At first I thought they mixed up my order and actually gave me Mei Fun, but there were crumbles of nuts (that had no taste - not even of peanut) on top, so I guess this was what they call Pad Thai. And I suppose if someone was allergic to shellfish they'd probably be pretty upset they received shrimp in their Chicken (what tasted exactly like Mei Fun) Pad Thai. My boyfriend got the General Tso Chicken. It was OK. I guess I'll have to try something else next time, if there is a next time, which I doubt. read more

I think they have (HANDS DOWN) The best crab Rangoon and spring rolls. I think they must make their own wrappers and wrap their own rolls because the food doesn't taste like it's ever been frozen. I've only had one miss meal... and i think it's because someone ordered wrong for me..... The DM2 is usually what i get.... It's a hearty portion of chicken and mixed veggies dry rubbed with a Chinese BBQ spice blend. This, some brown rice, and a little garlic sauce, the food pretty much contains 0% fat.... all protein and veggies. Great, little - tiny, resteraunt, no fancy cocktails, no decor, just the food. As the other reviewers note, the sunshine "ribs" and scallion pancakes with "ham" are amazing. The vegetarian moo shu was lovely, good flavor, no meat, but clearly related to other moo shu's that you have had before. A shrimp dish was cooked to just tender, with crisp tender vegetables, just as expected. It's like an old fashioned, excellent, Chinese restaurant you might remember from your youth, but with a heavy vegetarian bias. Can't believe I hadn't tried it before. read more

The STANDARD in Chinese food. Seriously. i have never had food anywhere else - pf changs, peking pavilion, etc - that matches the flavor and the quality of Sentosa. From the spring rolls to pineapple chicken to the veggie sweet and sour sensation, everything here is delish! There is something for everyone here, veggies and carnivores alike. It isnt in the middle of nowhere in Brick as one reviewer mentions. It is on Rt 88 en route to Point. Very easy to get to. read more
