We haven't ordered Chinese in a while because we could not find a local place we enjoyed. We tried them tonight and I can't say enough about the food! It was hot, the soup (hubby had egg drop and I had won-ton) was the best we ever had! I even drank all the broth! Egg rolls we good - not greasy. Servings were generous. He had pepper steak with onions "Great" was his description and I had Beef and broccoli. Would definitely recommend!!! read more

Place is close, the food is good, prices are on the same level as other Chinese take-outs. This is clearly a family business, with adults in the kitchen and their young daughter working the phones and the counter. If I'm going to spend my money someplace - including a generous tip - I expect to be treated with a little respect. Unfortunately, it is VERY obvious the daughter she hates being there. Her attitude is foul, she's not the slightest bit friendly and really doesn't care if you've been there ten times or one...her nasty demeanor is the same. It's a shame...I'll be taking my business elsewhere and telling all my friends about my experience. read more

I've been eating at Dragon Chinese Kitchen since my family moved to Toms River; around 1986. I was only 3 at the time so don't remember too much from that period; what I can remember is the countless times in high school, college, and even living on my own, heading to Dragon for their awesome food. If my wife and I looked at each other, with that "What's for dinner" look, we knew it was a Dragon night, practically without saying. We knew something was wrong back in December when we had one of their menus hanging on our front door. Never, in my 20+ years, do I remember them sending out menus. Well, turns out they sold the place, and its new owners. The food is no where near as good. I used to consider this one of my favorite Chinese places around. It was standard American-Chinese fare, but it was awesome. Their soups were especially good for any cold or illness. Nothing like chicken & rice to cure just about anything. It's still open, but in my eyes, it's not. Sad to see a staple that we've loved for years, no longer around. read more

Pretty good for your basic Americanized Chinese food. They had an interesting combo won Tom and egg drop soup that blended two of my faves. The egg roll was fairly bland, but the pork fried rice was decent. The biggest con is the restaurant location; if you're coming from the west you'll have to drive along back streets for a bit. The tricky part is that you can't see the place from the back (or the side for that matter). Make sure to have your GPS set. read more

We have eaten here 2 times before and really enjoyed the food so I was a little upset today with the customer service before we placed our third order that we will now never go back. The last 2 times we ordered (in the last 6 weeks) we were given a bottle of coke each time for free as we had ordered a lot of food. When I called to place my order this time I asked if it was possible to exchange the 2 bottles as well as the one they were giving me today for diet coke as we can not drink the sugar. We were told no because the soda was now "old". I explained it was soda not an egg roll and the expiration date was still current but they would not hear anything of it so we just cancelled the order and will now never order again. I was speaking with the owner and said are you willing to lose a customer over a bottle of soda and she said if that's what you have to do then do it. As a small business owner also I could or imagine losing a customer over a bottle of soda especially with the plethora of Chinese restaurants around but that's exactly what they did, so silly. read more

I think they have the best Chinese food on this part of Toms River (east side, near 37 and Island Heights). We always get delivery, sometimes pick up. Our food order is never wrong. They will tell us anywhere from 30-45 minutes for delivery but usually they are here in 20 minutes. We had one issue where we ordered just 2 combo platters and were told 15 minutes. 45 minutes went by and no food and when we called the restaurant, they had no idea where the driver was. We then told them that we no longer wanted the food since I had to leave for work and it was pointless to deliver food, EXCEPTIONALLY LATE, for somebody that can no longer eat it. Needless to say, I was aggravated and I had to leave for my overnight job and get food on the run (NOT happy). The driver arrived 20 minutes after I left, which was a total of 85 minutes or so from actual ordering time to actual delivery time. My boyfriend explained to the driver that he called the restaurant and we no longer wanted the food, so he left. Since that one incident, we have had NO ISSUES whatsoever. This was the first time I ordered food from Dragon... I always like to get the Pu Pu Platter so I can try out a lot of appetizers from a place from the jump. I enjoyed the fried wontons and the beef on a stick. The shrimp toast was okay. The fantail shrimp was awful! I was too full to try the egg rolls and BBQ spare ribs, but I will come back and drop them to 2 stars if they aren't good. When I called for delivery I was told 30-40 minutes and they did come in that time so that was a plus. I will definitely be trying a different restaurant next time I order Chinese. read more

My family and I have ordered take out from here for many years, the previous owners were very nice and respectful. Even after moving out of the area we still travel to this spot. But after today i think it'll be the last time. The Asian woman who takes orders upfront is absolutely rude and nasty. She always rushes u off the phone and has an attitude. My sister asked for a receipt and the cost of the items and the woman proceeded to yell at my sister and and be extremely rude toward her. Customer service is a very important part of business, and this type of behavior is bad for business. Very unprofessional. read more

I hadn't had a problem with this place until today. On the phone I was told it would be 45 minutes for delivery. After over an hour I called and was very rudely told that they were busy and he was on the way. After another 15 minutes I called and cancelled my order with the rude and snooty counter girl. I only live 10 minutes away, so obviously she was lying and the food had never left. I wasn't about to give them a penny or take the very likely chance something had been done to my food. If I could give negative stars, I would. I'd assume never eat Chinese food again before ever calling Dragon again. read more

Dragon Chinese Kitchen is a normal family small Chinese restaurant. The food is tasty yet overpriced. The location is not clean and the staff is unfriendly. You will normally find the staff yelling at each other in Mandarin and you'll see their children taking up all the seats with their toys and coloring books. For better Chinese I recommend No. 1 China or Master Wok in the mall. read more

I was in the area on business, and needed food. Chinese is good, not expensive, and I can have left-overs for dinner the next night. I found Dragon Kitchen on line, and the reviews were basically positive. Ok, it's nearby, and I'll try it. WOW! I can't find good Chinese food in my neighborhood, and my favorite restaurant near my Mom's house closed. Everything was WONDERFUL! And, I'm an honest critic of good food. Did I say I was hungry? I ate the egg roll right away. Crispy and wonderful. Wonton soup had great flavors, both in the wontons and the broth. They made kung pao beef for me, and not only was that terrific, but so was something as potentially lowly as the fried rice. The counter girl who took my order (American) was very friendly. There was also an Asian woman there, and I could see the potential for some of the other comments. BOTTOM LINE: everything I ordered was delicious, even now, my leftovers are great. read more

This has been our favorite Chinese spot for years. It's been the same family the whole time. It's a pretty typical menu but the food is the best. Our regular orders include General Tzos Chicken, Mooshu Shrimp and Chinese Vegetable soup. We make it a habit to get some carryout as we live just out of their delivery range. read more

They have the best dumplings ever. For me, the measure of a good Chinese joint is good dumplings. Almost everything is made fresh, which one can tell by peeking into the back kitchen. Also their prices are good, with a good selection. Biggest bonus for me is their convenient location for me. read more

They have the best hot and sour soup! Food is consistent. My favorite is the garlic chicken.
