    Shrimp Dumpling - 4 pieces
    Leena S.

It has been several years, since I'd been to this location. It was formerly called Pokok Southeast Thai and now Nara Thai. I'm happy to report that everything from the delectable food, to the stellar service, to the modern ambiance helped make this birthday dinner for a friend excellent. Food: We ordered Steamed Shrimp Dumplings, Thai Red Curry with Chicken, and Chicken with Vegetables and Cashew nut. Everything was full of flavor and spice and not watered down for the American palette. We did ask for the entrees to be mild. They were still very spicy. Service: We received exceptional, friendly and personable service. Ambiance: The interior is very modern interior for a restaurant, located in an unassuming strip mall. Everything from curtains that adorn the booths, to green foliage with a buddha sculpture create a nice vibe for a great dining experience. Price: The other prices appear to be on par with similar establishments.

The noodles were very good, however, the chicken dish was dry. Carrots were sour (I think they went bad?). Service was poor. We had to ask for utensils after the waitress brought our food. We ordered boba, but the first time the waitress made it, it didn't have the boba in it. We requested a remake. After 10 min, we still didn't get it, meanwhile, she was talking on the phone w/ her airpods in. We were already close to finishing our food, so we just ended up canceling the drink. The decor was beautiful though! Loved the cushions and lights and centerpieces

    46. Fried Beef on Hot Iron Plate

Went here after almost 3 years and got the favorites - Thai Green Lemon Fish (#33) and Fried Beef on Hot Iron Plate (#46), with a mango milk tea. The fish was particularly delicious (golden pompano), which felt different from my visit 3 years back. Couldn't get enough of it. Customer service 10/10.

    Do they have gluten-free menu?

    Is this a halal?

Unfortunately we are sorry to say that we’re not Halal certified at this time.

Is the restaurant currently open? I've seen both open and closed signs in front of the restaurant at the same time. As a follow up how do you order?

Yes the restaurant is open for takeout orders. We are open 12-8pm everyday except Monday’s. Please call the restaurant main phone to order. We are not taking cash payments for the safety of both staff and customers.… Read more

    Hi , Do they deliver?

Yes. They only have online delivery which are DoorDash and uber eats.

    Is it pricey?

No, but it's not cheap either! The dishes are of excellent quality so if the price is not that cheap, you'll know why.

Good selection of hot food too. The service was quite slow even though the restaurant was empty. It took a while for the sushi to arrive, and by that time, we started feeling full from the appetizers. We knew we were not going to get our money's worth tonight. Towards the end of our meal, we started smelling a poopy stench in the air - yes you heard me, POOPY! It made me completely lose my appetite. I'm so done with sushi buffets...never again :(

The menu was a mix of Japanese and Chinese dishes. Unfortunately they missed the mark on both. At some point, halfway through the meal I thought to myself, wow these flavors are way off, do they even know how to cook or know the flavors that the customers are looking for. (Why would you put wasabi in the bbq squid that comes with teriyaki sauce), to order hibachi you need to order everything separately. The service was kind and attentive but very disorganized even though it was only 2 tables being served. Do NOT order the all-you- can-eat, waste of money, too expensive for the quality and flavor combinations. Only get it if you just want to shovel food down your gastronomical hole. Hate doing poor reviews!!! This is only meant for the owners/managers to take note and fix it all, and create value for the customer.

Two of us ordered the Whole Crispy Red Snapper which our server suggested ordering just one and sharing. We ordered two but it was huge. Duck Lo Mein was also plentiful and the Honey Miso Salmon was a dish not found in most other Chinese restaurants. The sushi is fresh and tasty, we enjoyed the seared scallop appetizer. My sushi (Tiger roll) was magnificent. The Yuzu lobster roll could have had a bit less rice in the roll but was otherwise very enjoyable. The combination of fish in this roll paired very nicely together. Taka has a vast menu with many options from appetizers to specialty sushi options. They provide alcoholic and non alcoholic mocktails for those of us not interested in consuming liquor.....the mocktails are fantastic. The only thing that made me rate 4 instead of 5 stars was the staff needs a bit of work on serving. We ordered an appetizer and were also given two additional small plates since we were sharing this item. When we were done with the appetizer our specialty sushi plates were bought out and the same server left the three empty plates from the appetizers on the table instead of removing them. Dessert was absolutely decadent and moist (I omitted the whipped cream since I don't like it) but the shortcake was perfect without it. I look forward to returning to Taka and trying more items on the menu.

I saw some mixed reviews for Teak before we went, and after reading through quite a few of them, my…read morebest guess was that most of the complaints were tied to a nightclub-type vibe on a possible rooftop bar rather than the restaurant itself. We showed up hoping to snag bar seats, but it was busy and honestly a little warm for my liking. I know, I know, after the winter we've had, I have absolutely no right to complain. Either way, we ended up in an outside room with all the windows open to the patio and it was genuinely perfect. Our server Julie was fantastic. Attentive in all the right ways, including the kind of attentive where she noticed us glancing around and came over to check on us. We weren't actually looking for anything; we were just scoping out the space. Still, I appreciated the hustle. My partner ordered a gin martini, extra dirty; I went with a prosecco. Both came out cold and fast. We ordered edamame, lotus buns, the pear and crispy goat cheese salad, and the aburi roll. The edamame were solid. Nice pop of lime, though I could have used a heavier hand with the salt. The lotus buns were a revelation. Two pillowy bao buns, each stuffed with a generous slab of slow roasted pork belly glazed in hoisin, with a pickled cucumber tucked in alongside it. I'd never had anything quite like them, and the balance was what got me: the brine and snap of the pickle cutting right through the sweetness of that glaze. Really well thought out. The aburi roll was tasty; nothing jumped out as the star moment, but everything played nicely together and it went down easy. And then there was the salad. Oh, the salad. I could eat that salad every single day of the week. Crispy fried goat cheese medallions on a salad is basically a guaranteed order for me, so that's what reeled me in initially. But once I actually started eating it, I forgot all about the goat cheese. Mixed greens, thin pear slices, halved grapes, spiced pecan halves, all dressed in a honey mustard vinaigrette that was genuinely outstanding. I've already started thinking about how to recreate it at home, which is the highest compliment I can give a salad. Teak delivered across the board. Don't let the rooftop reviews scare you off from the restaurant itself.

THE FOOD * Chef's Sashimi Bowl: Bright and tasty with slices of tuna, yellowtail, and salmon. It came professionally plated with vegetable garnishes and a few dried sweet potato and garlic chips for texture. * Oysters & Caviar: The ice-cold oysters topped with black caviar were incredibly fresh. The yuzu/ponzu sauce and sliced green onions added great flavor. Served at the perfect temperature. * Kale Caesar Salad: The surprise here was the spicy breadcrumbs, which made the dish when their spice and crunch came in alongside the creamy dressing and kale. * Tip: I would order the dressing on the side next time, and avoid pairing this with the French Onion Soup Dumplings (too many creamy/heavy components for one meal). * French Onion Dumplings: An okay dish with nice gooey cheese, but a fairly flat overall flavor profile. * Roasted Salmon: Served with a tasty, crisp crust, but it was a bit dry on the inside. It came with nice stir-fried vegetables and slightly underdone coconut rice. THE WINE * A nice selection of wines by the glass. We tried a spread of Cabernet Sauvignon, Bordeaux, and Pinot Noir. THE SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE * Special thanks to Rigo (the sushi chef). He served up amazing sashimi and clearly draws on his 20+ years of experience at TEAK. He was incredibly personable, clearly enjoys his craft, and his presentation was excellent! * Thank you to Olivia, a new bartender upstairs, for her attentive and professional service! Wishing you the best in picking up those great line dance routines. IMPORTANT LOGISTICS Ordering: Note that you must order all your dishes at one time.
