First of all, this is such an adorable place. It has completely accordion style glass pans that open up so the whole restaurant downstairs feels like inside and outside at the same time. Very disappointing experience. I previously visited this restaurant for lunch (maybe a year ago) and was seated outside on the patio with my service dog, so I was surprised by what happened during my most recent visit. My boyfriend went inside to ask if we could be seated at an outside table. He mentioned we had a service dog. The young hostess told him that animals were not allowed and that they could not seat us, even outside on the patio. At the time, there was only one other table seated outside, and we were completely willing to sit off to the side in a corner away from other guests. Being told we could not be accommodated, especially after having been seated outside with my service dog during a previous visit, made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. We ultimately decided to leave rather than make the situation uncomfortable for anyone. I understand that restaurants have policies, but the inconsistency between my previous visit and this experience was disappointing. I hope management takes the time to make sure staff understand how to properly handle guests accompanied by service animals. Teak has been on my radar for a while in Red Bank, and I finally stopped in for dinner. I went with the Teak Pad Thai, and it was a solid take on the classic. The rice noodles were glossy and lightly sauced rather than drowning, and they came loaded with tofu, bean sprouts, scallions, and plenty of crushed peanuts, with lime on the side to brighten it up. Our waitress was MIA most of the time we were there. This made a simple request for ice nearly impossible. The place was not as busy as we're used to seeing on a Saturday night so that was weird. My husband and I still had a great dinner. The food is always amazing. We had a great time overall and thanks to the other staff, we were able to get service eventually. The place itself is a great date night spot - cozy & warm. We entertained the idea of going upstairs for the Nightlife portion of the night but the crowd was really young. I saw some mixed reviews for Teak before we went, and after reading through quite a few of them, my best guess was that most of the complaints were tied to a nightclub-type vibe on a possible rooftop bar rather than the restaurant itself. We showed up hoping to snag bar seats, but it was busy and honestly a little warm for my liking. I know, I know, after the winter we've had, I have absolutely no right to complain. Either way, we ended up in an outside room with all the windows open to the patio and it was genuinely perfect. Our server Julie was fantastic. Attentive in all the right ways, including the kind of attentive where she noticed us glancing around and came over to check on us. We weren't actually looking for anything; we were just scoping out the space. Still, I appreciated the hustle. My partner ordered a gin martini, extra dirty; I went with a prosecco. Both came out cold and fast. We ordered edamame, lotus buns, the pear and crispy goat cheese salad, and the aburi roll. The edamame were solid. Nice pop of lime, though I could have used a heavier hand with the salt. The lotus buns were a revelation. Two pillowy bao buns, each stuffed with a generous slab of slow roasted pork belly glazed in hoisin, with a pickled cucumber tucked in alongside it. I'd never had anything quite like them, and the balance was what got me: the brine and snap of the pickle cutting right through the sweetness of that glaze. Really well thought out. The aburi roll was tasty; nothing jumped out as the star moment, but everything played nicely together and it went down easy. And then there was the salad. Oh, the salad. I could eat that salad every single day of the week. Crispy fried goat cheese medallions on a salad is basically a guaranteed order for me, so that's what reeled me in initially. But once I actually started eating it, I forgot all about the goat cheese. Mixed greens, thin pear slices, halved grapes, spiced pecan halves, all dressed in a honey mustard vinaigrette that was genuinely outstanding. I've already started thinking about how to recreate it at home, which is the highest compliment I can give a salad. Teak delivered across the board. I recently visited Teak with a friend for their Thursday happy hour on the rooftop. Unfortunately, it was a bit rainy that day, so no one was on the outside part of the rooftop. The upstairs bar was packed! However, we found some seats. I ended up ordering the Cherry Smash as my drink and got the crab croquettes and cheesesteak bar buns. Both were delicious, especially the crab croquettes. I was still a bit hungry, so I ordered the pineapple fried rice with shrimp. My friend and I split it. We enjoyed it as well. I love Asian food, so Teak was definitely up my alley. This restaurant has been around for quite a while and this was my first time checking it out. This past weekend I hosted my daughter's 16th birthday party at Teak and I was more than impressed with the whole experience. To start after sending an online request for the group I received a call from Yessika the event coordinator with all of the details.; I was impressed that i got an actual call., actually the other places I contacted only emailed me back. Teak is where my daughter chose among other places and I was happy because I felt like their group dining prices were pretty fair. The day of the party all of the guests got to choose their main entree from four choices ., very nice.. all of the girls really enjoyed the dinner so much and I personally loved everything I had ., I sat at a close by table and also ordered sushi and oysters , so good! They definitely had the flavor of French onion but was not a tradition soup dumpling I thought it would be. More a wonton with the flavors of French onion soup. Service was good and relatively prompt, especially with providing a bottle of water. I was happily surprised with the number of creative Asian fusion dishes and really wanted to try a variety! We started off with the Edamame dumplings, which had a nice light sauce and was actually good although I would have preferred the pork dumplings, but my guest wanted to try it. Next, we moved on to the lobster and crab ceviche, which was just right and not too tangy. Just wish they had slightly more than a hint of cilantro, but nonetheless, there was ample portions of seafood and a bed of lettuce. We also had a couple of sushi rolls and definitely would recommend the sunshine roll. Good balance of fish to rice ratio. Finally, I originally thought that they had made a mistake since my seafood Ramen came as a noodle dish with no broth. I was wondering why the menu description explained that it came with the Tom Yum sauce, which I had asked to put on the side, but they instead made it a lighter portion which I appreciated. It actually had the texture of a pad Thai dish instead, which was also very good and came with large portions of shrimp and other seafood. I was in the area for a YELP event and I wanted to grab a quick bite to eat before I headed home. TEAK was recommended by a coworker so I decided to go sit at the bar and try them out. Apparently they have Happy Hour at the upstairs bar. I opt out since I wasn't drinking for the month of January so I just sat downstairs. I ordered the Pineapple Fried rice w/chicken and it was delicious. There's plenty other dishes on the menu that I would love to try so yes I will be returning in the future. This place is cool and the food was great. The hostess was super kind and friendly. While the food was good, our service at the table was a little questionable. He acknowledged we needed utensils and app plates. We got our apps and we still didn't have plates and utensils. I finally after we were eating our apps from the main app plate, I had to get up and ask one of the managers that was walking by for them. They forgot to give us our drinks as well. Our server was distracted at the end of the bar just hanging out, while we were waiting. We ordered our drink before we got our meals, 3 rolls and Drunken Man Noodles.
