Ichi Sushi - Japanese Near Me - Farmingdale, New Jersey

Here in Farmingdale, you will find a sushi restaurant that provides a unique selection of menu items. Brand: 5/5 I appreciate the vivacious logo of Ichi Sushi, for the bouncy letters invite the community to the sushi restaurant, and the artsy fish prepares you for what to expect. You will find the simplistic Japanese interior inside, from the paintings to the glass wood tables. I really like the leather-bound menus that the restaurant has. Website: 4/5 The website opens up to an option to order online, along with a gallery of photos of the menu items. While the website maintains a simple design, it does not specifically describe the menu items in the gallery. The menu items only had a few images in the Order Online section. Ambiance: 5/5 The pop music over the radio had the right amount of volume, soft enough to match the minimalistic appearance. The booths and tables had enough space between them despite being a medium-sized establishment. I am not sure if the lights being off are a normal occurrence, but I cannot say that it outweighed my experience with the ambiance. Service: 5/5 The staff was incredibly accommodating, asking if I needed anything else. Wait Time: 5/5 I did not experience any interruptions and the order came within a very short span of time. Food: 5/5 I ordered the Beauty Beast Roll, which consists of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, spicy mayo, avocado, tobiko, and scallion, with a side of wasabi. I will say that nobody makes a spicy sushi roll like Ichi Sushi. The huskiness of the avocado and the fish manage to give the roll a unique taste, while the tobiko, the mayonnaise, and the scallion manage to give it a tangy flavor, while the wasabi brings the zest. The preparation of the dish manages to match the form, since none of the roll slices fell apart, even as I lifted them with my chopsticks. Worth The Money?: 5/5 I have not had a sushi roll since I was 13, and I welcomed it back this time. Apparently, sushi rolls so unique they practically have their own personalities is a tale as old as time for sushi restaurants; and Ichi Sushi managed to succeed. So many unique sushi rolls exist well-worth the wait. I did knock off a star for the website not having enough photos of the menu items, since Americans typically do not familiarize themselves with Japanese cuisine, with the exception of sushi and teriyaki sauce. However, I do not think that it works against the overall experience, since there is always opportunity to try such vibrant dishes. Ichi Sushi thrives in its simplicity pertaining to the ambiance. It reflects the Japanese restaurant in many aspects. Despite the dimmed lights, the ambiance of the establishment during the wait did not feel tedious, especially since I was able to read what I was writing. The website only does so barely, but nothing substantial enough to really entice people to take an interest in Japanese cuisine. I would recommend doing something with the website, such as writing entries about unique Japanese word meanings and which Japanese meals are most popular during different time periods. I did pay up to $20 for the Beauty Beast sushi roll, though it was one of the more exclusive sushi rolls with unique selections known as the Special Raw Rolls. There are cheaper sushi rolls and Japanese courses available. Ultimately, I will say that Ichi Sushi is definitely worth it, and I would absolutely make it my first choice if I am in the mood for Japanese cuisine nearby. Another personal suggestion I have is to keep making new Special Raw Rolls. Rating: 5/5 Stars I am truly grateful to come to Ichi Sushi. Recommend To... Anyone looking to try Japanese cuisine with a unique New Jersey twist. There are options for cooked sushi, but if you would like the traditional sushi, then be my guest. I also recommend to anyone looking for a writing space that can entice you with a unique sushi roll at every time you go. read more

The point of Ichi Sushi is to have a high-quality sushi place that's in the backyard of locals, and for that it doesn't disappoint. I was impressed by friendly service, sound value, and a thoughtful, polished presentation for the sushi plating. All of the rolls had a plentiful serving of fish, and made for an enjoyable experience overall. The place is unassuming, the sushi goes above and beyond with floral-minded creativity. read more

I constantly order from this place. Every time I order pick up I am waiting 30 minutes minimum past my pickup window. There is always an issue with my order. It is so frustrating to show up every single time when my order says it is ready and then have to stand and wait for 30 more minutes. I have never been offered any type of apology or offer for this inconvenience. Get it together. But I'm done. read more

This is a fantastic spot for sushi at lunch. However, I would never recommend going here for dinner. They get overwhelmed with Door Dash and Uber Eats orders, and they forgo serving their actual customers sitting at their tables and dining in. We've been here for over an hour and are still waiting for our food. read more

I always drive by Ichi Sushi and have never ordered. They must have a wide delivery area because they delivered all the way to Belmar. Pretty cool. The food was good. The chicken teriyaki had solid flavor with tender chicken. It wasn't oily either. The sushi was lovely. The lover roll or something like that came fresh. The rock shrimp also had good flavor but difficult to stay crispy with delivery. I would order from here again. read more

I stopped by based on yelp reviews on a recent business trip. After the lunch rush 2 pm. The seating area was about 1/4 filled but a very brisk take out business. I chose miso soup, seaweed salad and 3 roll lunch special. A wide choice of rolls but I chose Tuna,Yellowtail and Eel Avocado. It was fresh, well portioned and the staff was extremely pleasant It is someplace I will come back to when in the area read more

Wanted to try a new sushi place for takeout and was surprised to find one less than fifteen minutes from home. We ordered a party set for $70. It took a little longer than anticipated to be ready. Comparatively to another sushi place we frequent nearby, it seemed like less sushi, but I think I'm glad that they didn't have the filler rolls like California rolls. Sushi seemed fresh, though we both had a bit of a stomachache, not sure if it was related, afterward. read more

Maybe we ordered on an off night? This was our first time here. We used the online ordering which was easy. Food was ready promptly with pleasant service. That's where the good ended--hence 2 stars. The fish had zero taste. The tuna, salmon, yellowtail all tasted exactly the same..almost as though it was frozen and after thawing had a water taste. The pieces were cut very thick. The yellowtail was chewy. The miso soup was extremely salty (and I love salt). The rice tasted as though the chef over-vinegared it, leaving a bad aftertaste in my mouth. Very disappointed after reading all the great reviews. read more

Ichi is 20 mins from me so there are many options closer. However, their sushi is delicious! I love the Tokyo roll and the Farmingdale roll. They're always timely and across 10+ orders they've made absolutely no errors. read more

The food is delicious! The employees are so very friendly and nice. I'm definitely going here a lot.

The food here is delicious. The service is terrible. I ordered at 7pm tonight and was told pickup in 40 min. When I arrived at 7:45 my order hadn't even been made. I had to wait until almost 8:15 for my order to be made. No one apologized. We've ordered here many times but this will be the last. read more

First time here. Sushi is outstanding. Tracy provided great service. BYOB is permitted. We'll definitely be back again and soon!

What a great little place! Staff was very friendly. Food was very fresh and delicious. The shrimp tempura and shrimp teriyaki were both exceptional. We also ordered the Age tofu app which equally didn't disappoint. Lovely sushi presentation and all food was prepared to order. It's tiny and busy with to-go orders so one might want to call ahead for indoor seating. read more

Great sushi! Place was very everything was clean and nicely decorated. The seaweed salad was delicious as well as outstanding sushi!

"Yo!" Those two letters with the punctuation should serve as my whole review, but I'll elaborate. Upon entering, I received a friendly greeting, a menu, and a water within a minute. I was there at 2pm, so I selected from their sushi menu, 15 pieces of three different types (available until 3:30). When they arrived, I realized they were the largest pieces of sushi I've ever seen compared to similar places...came with ample pickled ginger and wasabi. The waitress was a princess and the dudes behind the counter appeared really happy doing what they were doing. I know it probably sounds like I was paid to write this, but the experience is just as wonderful as I've described. Pleasant staff, good prices, great food, and pretty presentation. Well done. read more

Absolutely wonderful place! Some of the best sushi I've had, and very friendly staff!! Can't recommend enough.
