9. Seafood Udon Soup

Excellent service and the atmosphere was really relaxing enough to chat with your friends or dine-in alone. The food came out quick and everything was delicious. Everything in the menu looked good and was priced fairly. I will be coming back in the future!

Orange chicken, pork fried rice, mini vegetable spring rolls and crab rangoons.
Jennifer N.

Our first experience ordering from Oriental Empire was pretty good. We ate Orange chicken, pork fried rice, crab rangoons and mini vegetable spring rolls. The orange chicken was cooked well, not overdone and very tasty. It's just spicy enough. The pork fried rice was flavorful and not dry at all. There were a lot of fresh veggies in it as well. The spring rolls were tasty, but a bit under cooked, so they were soft and greasy. Crab rangoons were good, but a little under cooked as well. The staff was also very good while taking the order and when we picked it up. All in all, we will definitely be ordering again. The food was tasty enough to go back for more.

L14. Sweet & Sour Chicken Lunch Special

Ambience is really quiet and calm considering the time we went there (2 pm on a friday) and our server was pleasant was so nice! personally, i ordered the sweet and sour chicken lunch special as shown in the photo and it was great for the price! however the only reason why this is 4 stars is because it took 30+ minutes to get our entrees. overall i would go back here again!

Teak Restaurant - Lotus Buns Hot Plate

Teak Restaurant

I saw some mixed reviews for Teak before we went, and after reading through quite a few of them, my…read morebest guess was that most of the complaints were tied to a nightclub-type vibe on a possible rooftop bar rather than the restaurant itself. We showed up hoping to snag bar seats, but it was busy and honestly a little warm for my liking. I know, I know, after the winter we've had, I have absolutely no right to complain. Either way, we ended up in an outside room with all the windows open to the patio and it was genuinely perfect. Our server Julie was fantastic. Attentive in all the right ways, including the kind of attentive where she noticed us glancing around and came over to check on us. We weren't actually looking for anything; we were just scoping out the space. Still, I appreciated the hustle. My partner ordered a gin martini, extra dirty; I went with a prosecco. Both came out cold and fast. We ordered edamame, lotus buns, the pear and crispy goat cheese salad, and the aburi roll. The edamame were solid. Nice pop of lime, though I could have used a heavier hand with the salt. The lotus buns were a revelation. Two pillowy bao buns, each stuffed with a generous slab of slow roasted pork belly glazed in hoisin, with a pickled cucumber tucked in alongside it. I'd never had anything quite like them, and the balance was what got me: the brine and snap of the pickle cutting right through the sweetness of that glaze. Really well thought out. The aburi roll was tasty; nothing jumped out as the star moment, but everything played nicely together and it went down easy. And then there was the salad. Oh, the salad. I could eat that salad every single day of the week. Crispy fried goat cheese medallions on a salad is basically a guaranteed order for me, so that's what reeled me in initially. But once I actually started eating it, I forgot all about the goat cheese. Mixed greens, thin pear slices, halved grapes, spiced pecan halves, all dressed in a honey mustard vinaigrette that was genuinely outstanding. I've already started thinking about how to recreate it at home, which is the highest compliment I can give a salad. Teak delivered across the board. Don't let the rooftop reviews scare you off from the restaurant itself.

THE FOOD * Chef's Sashimi Bowl: Bright and tasty with slices of tuna, yellowtail, and salmon. It came professionally plated with vegetable garnishes and a few dried sweet potato and garlic chips for texture. * Oysters & Caviar: The ice-cold oysters topped with black caviar were incredibly fresh. The yuzu/ponzu sauce and sliced green onions added great flavor. Served at the perfect temperature. * Kale Caesar Salad: The surprise here was the spicy breadcrumbs, which made the dish when their spice and crunch came in alongside the creamy dressing and kale. * Tip: I would order the dressing on the side next time, and avoid pairing this with the French Onion Soup Dumplings (too many creamy/heavy components for one meal). * French Onion Dumplings: An okay dish with nice gooey cheese, but a fairly flat overall flavor profile. * Roasted Salmon: Served with a tasty, crisp crust, but it was a bit dry on the inside. It came with nice stir-fried vegetables and slightly underdone coconut rice. THE WINE * A nice selection of wines by the glass. We tried a spread of Cabernet Sauvignon, Bordeaux, and Pinot Noir. THE SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE * Special thanks to Rigo (the sushi chef). He served up amazing sashimi and clearly draws on his 20+ years of experience at TEAK. He was incredibly personable, clearly enjoys his craft, and his presentation was excellent! * Thank you to Olivia, a new bartender upstairs, for her attentive and professional service! Wishing you the best in picking up those great line dance routines. IMPORTANT LOGISTICS Ordering: Note that you must order all your dishes at one time. OVERALL A memorable Asian fusion restaurant with an extensive upstairs dance floor and a bar on each level. Great for a casual date night or a lively evening out on the town.

They should add another door at the entrance. We started off with Wonton soup. The flavor and texture of the meat and dumplings were delicious for me and I'm picky. The issue was the broth wasn't very hot. And it could use more flavor in the broth. Next the pan seared pork dumplings. They were delicious also and the dipping sauce tasty sweet and as it should be. I ordered the sesame chicken and it was a nice large portion of amazing white meat. As I said I am picky with texture and meat and this was the best I've had out for sesame chicken. That said, my meal was not hot for a fried dish. My dates meal was hot but lacked flavor it was like a garlic type sauce. He ordered the Bistro 3 delicacies. I still have it a 4 star because I've had terrible food before this just needs a little help and timing. I will chalk it up to being a holiday and busy. I will give them another chance though because it was a nice experience and food was worth it! :)

The server was extremely friendly, truly a standout, warm, attentive, and just wonderful throughout our visit. There was a slightly awkward moment at the entrance: a sign told us to wait to be seated, but no one was there to greet us. Instead, a man behind the bar called out from across the room to ask how many were in our party, then simply told us to "sit anywhere." It wasn't a big deal, but it felt a little off-putting and impersonal. As for the food: The wonton soup had good flavor but was just warm which was disappointing on a freezing cold day when a hot bowl of soup would have hit the spot. The pork bun and dumplings were delicious. The tea was also very good, and the overall service was prompt and efficient. It's a solid place with a friendly atmosphere and tasty dishes. Despite the small oddities, I'd say it's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Good selection of hot food too. The service was quite slow even though the restaurant was empty. The menu was a mix of Japanese and Chinese dishes. Unfortunately they missed the mark on both. At some point, halfway through the meal I thought to myself, wow these flavors are way off, do they even know how to cook or know the flavors that the customers are looking for. (Why would you put wasabi in the bbq squid that comes with teriyaki sauce), to order hibachi you need to order everything separately. The service was kind and attentive but very disorganized even though it was only 2 tables being served. Do NOT order the all-you- can-eat, waste of money, too expensive for the quality and flavor combinations. Only get it if you just want to shovel food down your gastronomical hole. Hate doing poor reviews!!! This is only meant for the owners/managers to take note and fix it all, and create value for the customer.

The sushi is fresh and tasty, we enjoyed the seared scallop appetizer. My sushi (Tiger roll) was magnificent. The Yuzu lobster roll could have had a bit less rice in the roll but was otherwise very enjoyable. The combination of fish in this roll paired very nicely together. Taka has a vast menu with many options from appetizers to specialty sushi options. They provide alcoholic and non alcoholic mocktails for those of us not interested in consuming liquor.....the mocktails are fantastic. The only thing that made me rate 4 instead of 5 stars was the staff needs a bit of work on serving. We ordered an appetizer and were also given two additional small plates since we were sharing this item. When we were done with the appetizer our specialty sushi plates were bought out and the same server left the three empty plates from the appetizers on the table instead of removing them. Dessert was absolutely decadent and moist (I omitted the whipped cream since I don't like it) but the shortcake was perfect without it. I look forward to returning to Taka and trying more items on the menu.

Unfortunately, today was completely different -- and extremely disappointing. I ordered a ribeye, and as soon as the food arrived, I noticed it was not good. It was cold, tasteless, and completely different from the standard I was used to. I immediately called the waitress and explained the situation. She was polite and asked if I would like it reheated, but I said no, because the issue was not only the temperature -- the food simply was not flavorful. The vegetables were soaked in water, everything was cold, and the overall taste was terrible. My husband was very hungry and even tried to eat it, but I told him it was impossible. The manager came over, apologized, and confirmed that the food was prepared in the kitchen. After that, we were offered ice cream as a courtesy, but nothing was done about the main dish, which was clearly not acceptable. We ended up paying the full bill -- around $80 -- for a meal that was horrible. I left the restaurant hungry, upset, and extremely disappointed. We had to leave our daughter with someone else for what was supposed to be a special dinner for us, and it turned into a very frustrating experience. Unfortunately, I am truly saddened by both the quality of the food and the way the situation was handled.
