Update time!! Since moving to Howell in 2013, I have eaten at China Moon as well as take out --- a lot. You can't Dine-in anymore since covid, but that doesn't stop this family from enjoying the delicious food here. Due to my health issues, I tend to get under the weather often---- so I have to just say that whenever I am feeling under the weather which can be often- my hubby and Mini-Me head right over to Linda's. I am a repeat order and she always has it ready for pick up. 2 large hot and sour soups, house fried rice and veg lo mein. On day 1 I love the HS soup broth, day 2 the soup vegetables with the rice, day 3 I repeat with the broth and day 4 vege and leftover rice and day 5 veg lo mein, this method works for me, and helps my body get back on track. Linda totally understands that her food makes me feel loads better and I able to get out of bed and function- I am not saying she is a miracle worker but...... after 10+ years of this, whenever I am sick- I can only say- that her restaurants hot & sour soup is my happiness, gets me out of bed able to work. Okay - and the rest of my family pretty much loves everything on the China Moon menu. Ingredients are fresh and if you have not tried the chicken wings, you have too, my husband really likes them. China moon is an operation! They have a cool system for getting to go orders out the door fast. There is an employee that sits at a table and coordinates all of it. The general tso's chicken was good and so was the sweet and sour chicken. This was my 3rd time here so it is consistent as well. Big portions don't hurt either. read more

this place was underwhelming. i went there with a couple of friends and we were very nice but the cashier was unbelievably rude. i got general tso's chicken and rice and the sause was border line buffalo sause. the inside was again nothing special. read more

We sometimes forget how spoiled we are in this area with so many outstanding Chinese restaurants there are within arms length to scratch our itch for Peking Duck. I'd hate to be trapped in a recurring nightmare that only featured Panda Express or some other food court abomination. China Moon is as stereotypical as suburban Asian gets landlocked in a strip mall that has seen better days, perhaps from a time when TVs were black and white and canned vegetables were the newfangled pride of every homemakers cupboard. Their hot and sour soup is spectacular especially when paired with an outstanding mouth melting version of General Tsos. An extra star for an order that was exactly right and didn't need to be checked (even though I did.) An honorable mention also goes to a complex shrimp lo mein that didn't need a gallon of extra grease for flavor. All honor to China Moon. read more

Asked them if they could devein the shrimp in my order and they said no. That's not a huge request being most restaurants automatically do it. I went over to The Howell kitchen and they said no problem. And over the years they have progressively cut back on ingredients. read more

Ordered take out from this place since it has good reviews and the food was good and tasty. We ordered: Wonton soup - basic Chinese restaurant fair similar to other places Fried dumplings - came with 6, same comment as above Combo ribs with bones - tasty with a sweet sauce to them Shrimp with lobster sauce - shrimp was fresh, fried rice was a little salty Beef in garlic sauce - tasty but with a lot of vegetable and limited amount of beef. We have ordered from here many times. This time the food was mediocre. The moo goo gai pan was 60% mushrooms, very little chicken. The chicken chow main was also lacking significant chicken. As this is the best chinese in the Jackson, Howell area, hope it was just a fluke. read more

There are several Chinese take out places in Howell - China Moon is the only one that doesn't deliver. Why? Because their food is the best, and they know people will come to them. I've been getting take out here for about 20 years. Overall it's your typical Chinese take out place - but the food is great and the service is great, they never get my order wrong, and the staff is friendly. Order take from this restaurant few days after Thanksgiving and I was not happy nor was I impressed with the Shrimp fried rice. 4 peices of shrimp where found inside and the rice taste unfresh, old, some pieces where hard and my daughter notice the Staff was not wearing gloves. She was making Wonton dumpling stuffing them with some gross looking stuff but she should been wearing gloves and a hair net. Im picky in what I eat Im also health cautious but its the chance we take when eating out where's the Health department in these places really ??? read more

When I worked on Wall Street, my friends and I would make trips to China town at least twice a month. The food that we enjoyed there was memorable. A group of four or five of us would chow down a ton of food each visit. I can still remember it now. I moved to New Jersey and one of the things that I missed was my Chinatown food. One night we found a menu attached to our front door. The restaurant was called China Moon and since they took the time to get a menu to us, we decided to give it a try. It's worth mentioning that we had tried a number of places before discovering China Moon, and I had resigned myself to the fact that we would have to eat sub par Chinese food from here on in. Well what a surprise this place turned out to be. The food was hot and delicious, and more importantly it was fresh. 15 minutes elapsed from the time I called in my order to the time I picked it up. I like enjoying my Chinese food family-style, so we order quite a bit of food each time we call. There is not a single dish on the menu that I would not recommend. Every single item, right down to the eggrolls and the Rangoon's are perfectly prepared. This food is as good as any I have ever enjoyed in Chinatown in New York City. It was my home away from home when I came to Chinese food. If you have read any of my other reviews, you know that I am a serious chow hound, who can really put away the food. I have yet to finish everything that we bought. My personal favorites are the General Tso's Chicken, the boneless rib tips, the Mei Fun, egg rolls and the Egg Foo Young. Great Chinese take out! They had a handful of good Vegan options including the sesame tofu, and the bean curd schizuan style. I got both of them last time I ordered and they both were delicious!!! The food was done quickly as well. Ordered it, and headed right out to get it, and was done by the time I got there like 15 minutes later! I'm a big fan of this Chinese-American style restaurant. I was once told that what I need to look for in good food made in this style is subtle flavors that come at you as you eat your food. Now that applies with most good food, but as I've found out over the years that is especially true with Chinese food. A place that just slathers on some thick sauce in a wok and fries up the food usually ends up being less than stellar. China Moon gets it right in that whatever they do as they cook the food the flavors are delicate and the texture of the food never mushy or overcooked. A lot of vegetables made in this style usually suffer from being over-sauced and mushy - not here. The food tastes fresh and crisp. read more

Delicious! Today we ordered from China Moon and as always, it was great! Haven't been there in awhile because it's kinda far from where I live but we were shopping in Howell and ordered takeout. This place doesn't look like much from the outside and it's very tiny inside, but WOW, great food comes outta that tiny whole in the wall ! I had pork loin mein and daughter had sesame chicken, we both loved it! The prices are very reasonable and the food is very fresh, very colorful, very tasty! Wish we lived closer, I'd go more often. Only gave 4 stars because she forgot to give us fortune cookies hehe. read more
