To say Triple Green is like any of the dozens upon dozens of Chinese take out spots you pass by on a given day is an understatement. Yellow sign with red lettering above, displaying the name and telephone number. A big window with the classic neon red-letter, blue border "OPEN" sign dead center in the glass. It is flanked by two pizza shops I've never been to- and why? The food at Triple Green is better than any pizza shop and coming from a native of New Jersey, that's very high praise. The menu is pretty standard. Sorted by style and proteins. Chefs specials in a corner block. You could probably copy and paste this for 90% of all Chinese food menus. The place is so unremarkable, outside and in. You might be asking, how did I happen to come here? Advice of a trusted cab driver, when in doubt- always ask one where the good stuff is. I'm glad I did. Now, to the food; I give this place 5 stars and still isn't enough. I had the best sweet and sour soup of my life. Wontons in garlic sauce that were as wonderful in flavor as they were in presentation. Then the real miracle, I enjoyed something I don't even like- shrimp in lobster sauce. I don't care for the dish, but the shrimp was fresh and flavors just so darn good. But, the tops for me is the beef lo mein. I could eat a gallon of it in one sitting. You can get a full belly here without emptying your wallet. I adore this place. I will make it a side quest in my life to try everything on the menu at least once. I hope it never changes. Best chinese food I've had in a long time. I checked out the reviews for Chinese in the Belmar area and Triple Green kept coming up. We had hot & sour soup - which was very good - fried dumplings (6) which were large and well priced and chicken w garlic sauce and pork fried rice which was excellent. The chicken is thinly sliced then sautéed - it was juicy and tender and there was plenty of it. The pork fried rice had good size chunks of pork and was very flavorful. Portions were generous. Always fresh ingredients, good value for money and super friendly staff. I was impressed when I called and gave my order with 5 different things that they read my order back to me to make sure it was correct. Love that. 10 minutes later I'm at a store front around the street from Bar-A. Side note: I'm going to assume this place is mobbed at 2am. Walked in and it's a standard Chinese take out place. A few tables, feels a little divey, but not dirty. Seems like a family business, the daughter is very polite and attentive, even putting someone on hold to deal with me in person. I loved my old Chinese place had been going there for 15 years. I know that no 2 places are exactly alike. But the flavor here I think is incredible. Walking distance from Bar-A, this is a perfect late night corner Chinese spot after night of binge drinking. I could't tell you what kind of lunch specials they have OR if it is good during the day, delivery etc.. but what I can tell you is this is the BEST option at 2:30am in the morning when you are drunk and the next door pizza place is jammed packed with tons of drunk people. They have a different late night menu (picture posted) which seems to more expensive than their regular menu but i guess they can justify the price for dealing with bunch drunk messy folks. And the late night staff seems to know exactly how to deal with drunkards like me. I always ordered from here but this last time will be my last time ordering from here. I am a vegetarian and I ordered CHEESE wontons and specifically asked if there was any meat in them. I made sure. she confirmed JUST cheese in them. I get my order and bite into my wontons and there's imitation crab in them. I'm horrified and will never order from here again.
