I think the lunch specials are quite good. I love the shredded pork in garlic sauce. The other day I had chicken in garlic sauce, not that good, too Americanized. My family has ordered from King Chef for decades. It still hits the spot after all those years. They keep it tasty and clean and have speedy delivery. Our favorites include General Tso, Sweet/Sour, Chicken Almond Ding, all the appetizers, the pork fried rice is good but the veggie fried rice is a bit bland...still edible but missing some umami. The only complaint we have ever had is that we never have enough fortune cookies...but you can always ask if you remember! read more

Tonight we order a take out from King Chef, Pepper Steak and Onion. The only thing in the meal that was cooked was the beef and the rice. ALL the vegetables were RAW. I could night recommend this place to anyone in good concience. We won't be buying here again. read more

King Chef is quite decent and like most Chinese places has a large menu. After visiting a few breweries in the area, the need for food was apparent. Mostly a takeout place but we decided to dine in; only two tables and one of them was occupied by I figure a daughter doing homework. I ordered the sesame chicken which came out hot. First the prices were much higher than the online prices. Ordered a combo dinner of pepper steak, pint of pork with Chinese vegetables (asked for no mushrooms) but they put a ton of mushrooms in it, did not include the white rice. Ordered pork egg roll and the sent vegetable egg rolls. Asked for the pepper steak well done and we had to cook it some more at home. When we called to advise steak was not cooked enough, they included mushrooms, and rice was missing they said they would send the rice right away. By the time it arrive we were long past eating. The pork was dry. What should have cost about $22.50was $30. Will never order from there again. Should have stuck with my go to New China Kitchen but decided to try this place at my son's suggestion. read more

After a long day working in NYC I chose to grab take out here. I ordered chicken and broccoli steamed and pork lo mein. It was prepared quickly and good when I got home. I thought it could have been better, but perhaps I'm spoiled by the other Chinese take out in the city. I'm tough and only give 4 stars for good food, and the rare 5 stars for a foodgasm. read more

I ordered a pint of hot and sour soup and a pint of wonton soup. The order came delivered over an hour and a half later and the 2 soups were combined into 1 pint. Tried last night after hearing several great reviews from new friends and some neighbors once I asked. I stopped there to get a menu first... Very clean, 5 stars for that off the bat. Very lovely woman at the counter assisted me with a question about a photo of a dish we wanted but were unsure which dish it was. Another 5 stars for service. I went home we reviewed menu and placed out first order. Delivered very quick, 28 minutes on Saturday night prime time about 7:30. We ordered large hot and sour soup. Very nicely prepped, veggies all cut up making easy to eat. Great taste too. Large pork lo mean, again nicely prepared, good lean pork slices, tasty noodles. Hot and spicy beef (#82) had nice kick, we asked for homemade hot mustard and they make yay! Added to dish and were in heaven. Finally hot chef special, General Tso's Shrimp. Very nice portion, good size jumbo shrimp, cooked nice and very tasty. We asked for a small hot chili sauce (again homemade) very pleased with the overall experience. Great food, fast service, clean and bright restaurant space and nice people. Will defiantly support this local establishment again. read more

First off I love Chinese food! I am a hospitality executive for over 25 years, live in Belmar and do enjoy a my share of the Chinese cuisine. King Chef was a huge disappointment! The food so disgusting that I put it back in the bag... got in my car... drove back... put it on the counter and told them it was the worst Chinese food I ever have eaten! Enough said! This is my go-to Chinese restaurant in the area, after trying quite a few of the other places. Typical American Chinese food with good prices and nice portions. I usually go with steamed dumplings and the chicken with broccoli combination plate. Their menu specifies that they don't use MSG. Three stars for the American Chinese food you'd expect, plus one star because they're quick and friendly. Definitely recommended. read more

I literally downloaded this app solely to review on this one situation I dealt with tonight. Me and my friends called in to order and they dont close until 10:30. So at 9:15 we called to order for delivery then after giving her the address she said too far. I proceeded to ask why because they have delivered to a place 5 miles away from me and to here was only 2.1. We are only 7 minutes away. Confused, I asked why since in the past they had. The woman on the phone proceeded to say 'Too far. Too far. Too far.' continuously until i had no other choice but to simply hang up the phone. My friend then attempted to call and same thing happened. After the same response from the woman, she proceeded to yell at my friend over the phone and say her driver had just left work an hour before they close. I have worked in the restaurant industry and understand that happens occassionaly but the way she handled the situation by saying 'Too far' she lost our business. If she had started by saying she was short staffed I would have gladly gone to pick it up as their food is fantastic but they lost my business after this interaction. read more

So I just move to Belmar and I get the KING CHEF menu on my door. I placed my order for delivery and it was at my door in a decent amount of time. After opening the package, we realize that the order was wrong. I called them and the woman who answered the phone insisted that I ordered what she sent and said I'd have to pay for the new order and she'd send it over. I didn't think I should have to pay, I explained the brief conversation to her about my original order, restating the questions I had asked, trying to rejog her memory but she was brief, told me the new price and then hung up on me. So as we are eating, waiting on the corrected items, I realize that there's a jagged shard of plastic in my roast pork chow fun. I thought I broke the plastic lid on the container and it fell into the food. I continued to eat and found 3 more pieces all through out the dish. I checked the lid and it was perfectly intact. So now I'm totally done eating it and fish through the rest and find a whole lot more, jagged pieces of broken plastic small enough to swallow but definitely large enough to do damage to the mouth or worse if swallowed. Each piece was comparable to the size of my middle finger nail to thumb nail. Then the new item comes, vegetable dumplings, and I gave the plastic to the delivery guy and said he better check his batch of chow fun as that is extremely dangerous!!! He takes them and leaves. We start eating the dumplings and find a scrapping of aluminum or metal inside the filling. It looked like a strip from inside the wok that was scraped off and mix in to the vegetables, it was about half an inch long and curled up (like it was scraped up). Needless to say the food was delicious but DEFINITELY NOT WORTH EATING PLASTIC AND OR METAL! I'll have to find a new place! read more

Ordered Mongolian Beef and Sesame Chicken. Both dishes were very good. Beef was tender and has a nice mix of spicy with a touch of sweet from the onions and green pepper. Glad to know this is a solid take out/delivery option for us. Good value. We will order again from here. read more
