Chicken Kari
Jessie K.

New (and only in the area) Malaysian place in Scarsdale village, opened 3 months ago according to our waiter. Decor is very cute, went late on a Friday evening and there was plenty of seating. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. Roti canai was yummy. The Milo tea isn't really tea, it's basically what I think is maybe an Asian version of nesquik? But the price was reasonable for the serving size. Ended up with leftovers! I haven't had much Malaysian food so I don't have a comparison, but I think it's excellent that this place opened in Scarsdale village. The chicken Kari was flavorful, a bit thinner/more soup-consistency than what I traditionally think of curry (Indian, Japanese). It also came with a healthy serving of rice. The roti was also yummy, not as fluffy as other roti I've had, which isn't bad, just an observation. It could also be due to different cuisine styles rather than being restaurant specific. I'm hoping that the community will be willing to try something new for their palate that might not be like the typical Italian, American fare that you find around here--it's definitely worth it. I hope that this place does well!

Kid-friendly!

Delicious food and a welcome addition to Westchester! Food is very tasty and reasonably-priced. Came here with two kids under 6 and they both ate happily and like horses. Service is super friendly and warm. No frills, but perfectly comfortable. Will be glad to come again.

Beef Ginger & Green Onion

I was excited to try this place after it came highly recommended. We went early on a Friday night and were lucky to get in as many others without reservations were turned away. It's a small casual place with not many tables. Felt like it was going to be a real find. Then the food arrived. We ordered the beef with ginger and the mee goreng. Both were flavorful but overly salty. It was good but nothing special.

Nasi Goreng without shrimp. Delicious! Very fragrant.

Ordered delivery from this place; got the Nasi Goreng. While I think of this dish as Indonesian, it was absolutely delicious! The flavor was very good, and it had tender pieces of chicken too; I loved the spices. Will be ordering it again tonight! I'm also looking forward to trying the other dishes; though I will say I would like to go there rather than ordering it for delivery; as with a lot of places, I'm sure eating it fresh from the kitchen is better than having it sit waiting for the pickup. Highly recommend!

Nasi Lemak chicken

I loved this restaurant, the food is flavorful, fresh, and extremely authentic and the staff was especially amazing and friendly. The chicken Nasi Lemak was beyond tender and the portion was more than enough for two. The roti canai was also very good. The sambal was excellent, also very flavorful. It was a great marriage of cuisines Definitely get a drink, they use fresh mint and fruits in some of them!! The prices were so affordable.

Got chicken in red curry. Somewhat skimpy on chicken for price. Lumpia (fritters) were delicious and dipping sauces good. Will try again.

Overall, good food at a reasonable price with busy but helpful servers!…read more Shrimp and pork shumai 7.5/10 warm and a lovely m pork flavor, great texture with the thin dumpling skin. These were a great recommendation from one of my waiters, and my only complaint is I wish the dipping sauce had black vinegar or a bit of a stronger flavor, it was sweet and a bit bland and I think it could have added more complexity to the pork and shrimp instead of muting it. Scallion pancakes 6.5/10 they were shatteringly crisp and flaky on the outside and soft on the inside, texturally were delightful and exactly what I hoped for from the photos on the menu, and it was a good portion size, but there was about three flecks of scallion per pancake piece--very faint scallion flavor, almost indetectable, so they were fairly bland. Stir fry with handmade noodles and chicken 6.5/10 the noodles were thick and chewy, they actually blended in well with the chicken visually haha! the sauce was nicely thick to hold up to the noodles and the dish felt simple but carefully made with the the thin slices of chicken (half of which were perfectly cooked and half of which were just a little tough), with a scattering of bell peppers that still had a little crunch, a pleasant contrast to the other soft textures, and a bit of green onion--if I tried this again, I would ask for extra vegetables. I'm glad I tried this dish, but next time would try another item on their menu or maybe just get two dumplings orders... Beyond the food, the waiters were quick to respond when I asked for water or a to go container and they offered helpful recommendations, while clearly busy with takeout and in-restaurant customers. The atmosphere was casual with some wooden lattice work that added character and music that brought me back about a decade or two haha, it wasn't a huge space but it didn't feel crowded with warm lighting and dark wood.

It also comes with soup or salad, and I always choose the salad. The food was fresh and tasty, and the restaurant is clean and pretty spacious inside. Service was okay--my server didn't check in until I was almost finished with my meal--but overall it was still a pleasant experience. If you work nearby and have a lunch hour, this is a great spot to grab a quick bite and even squeeze in a little shopping since Haiku is located in a shopping plaza with LOFT, Chico's, and a sneaker shop. You can easily be in and out in under an hour.

For starters this place is smaller and feels a little bit more crowded in on one another. The food however was very good. I think there is a slight language barrier today because I asked for my Crispy Shredded Sechuan beef extra spice but they left out the heat and made it extra crispy. Nothing that some hot sauce didn't cure. But it was excellent. I'll know better next time to make sure that they get my request correctly . This is not an inexpensive meal. One soup, two entrees, two glasses of wine and a beer - just around $120 with tip. Well worth it. I'll be back when I'm not closer to the other location.(more room)
