Stopped here for lunch recently, and we were both glad we did! Greeted and seated as we entered, immediately. The place looks welcoming, comfortable seating and well staffed. We asked for tea - to lift the chill from outside. Flavorful jasmine tea (we were advised to let it steep for a couple of minutes). The menu has lots of interesting options - we went for the lunch specials - soup and rice included with the main dish. Wonton soup for the Honey, Hot and Sour soup for me - we usually end up tasting both so this is a good choice. Both soups were excellent! The Wonton flavorful with a good "body" with several wontons, tender wraps and tasty filling. The Hot and Sour soup deserves its own star! Delicious! Well balanced heat with lots of mushrooms and other vegetables in the flavorful bowl. The best in a long while! I chose the Sesame Chicken, the Honey, the LoMein. Both with brown rice. Good choices. Worth a try. When you walk in you can tell it has been newly renovated. I did an online pick up order with a friend. Said 35 minutes. It was ready in 20. Since it was online, I didn't get a real sense of the service. I can say he was polite and told us where to get anything we needed. All around, good Chinese food. They offer a lunch special which is worth the amount you get. Food is tasty and fresh. Only down side is the packaging for the egg rolls make it soggy. read more

Found out about by accident. It's new, opened two months ago. Replaced Golden Wok, a mediocre white tablecloth American Chinese. I had Szechuan the day before at a very good Szechuan restaurant but had to try this one. Arrived without reservation. The place looks clean & inviting, nice ambient lighting. The room was half full/empty. All the two and four seat tables were occupied, the four or five six seat family tables were empty. Noticed that there were no Asian patrons. I was seated almost immediately at the one and only four seat prime window table. I faced the dining room and noticed that there was a occupied private dining room. In short, I ordered pretty much what I had the previous day - Hot and Sour soup, Szechuan Wonton and Pork with Scallions - one of my favorite Chinese dishes & a brew. Within a minute or two the fried wonton skins & duck sauce came out, had chuckle. I guess they kept that from the old Golden Wok days. Soup arrived next - it looks good, ok tried the first spoonful, next...where is the heat? The flavor was ok, it had the vinegar, tofu...but no heat. Next came the Szechuan Wontons. Now we're talking, thinking to my self. They were floating in a peanut sauce and covered with chili oil. First dumpling down the hatch...hmmm...nice flavor peanut sauce but again, were is the heat? Last but not least came the Pork with Scallion. Looks very good, it's dry fried, meaning it's not in dwain the bathtub I'm dwowning sauce. I've had Pork and Scallion hundreds of times, from absolutely inedible to still craving to this day. This one was ehhh OK. The pork was tough, it was not velveted. The flavor was nice, the scallions were still crispy and firm. As a first visit, I'm giving this establishment four (4) stars based on service, OK food and ambiance. I've been looking for a good Chinese place to order from for some time. I love spicy food, so Szechuan places are normally what I gravitate towards. Szechuan City is relatively new, so decided to give it a shot for delivery. Soup dumplings were well made and tasty. Not remarkably better than other places I order from, but still good. The house special spicy prawns were not good. They fried them with the shell on (strike 1), in a sweet breading like a zeppole (strike 2). They were also light in the peppers and spiciness overall (strike 3). Generous portion however I ended up tossing it for the most part as it wasn't enjoyable. My wife liked (didn't love) what she got either. I imagine that there are better things here from what I saw, and that I just got the wrong thing. The wrong thing happened to be something I would order like clockwork though, so I probably won't bother to find out anytime soon. read more

We wanted to try the long awaited Szechuan City that replaced Golden Wok. We had General Tso which was just fine, fresh, excellent portion and proper heat but we thought maybe the sesame chicken would be better for us. That was listed as white meat and there was some dark meat in the Tso if that matters to you. Pork lo mein was very fresh and good flavor. They did not skimp on the pork. Service was very attentive, refilling the tall bottles of water and pouring tea. The interior was remodeled. Beautiful sink in the bathrooms. I thought it was a bit too bright in the dining room. Tasteful fans and masks on the wall. Just a gentle suggestion: I would just turn down the lights for a more serene, calm atmosphere. Some tea-lights on tables and turn the lights down a bit and it would elevate the experience. They were already doing a swift takeout business! read more

This is hands down the most flavorless Szechuan food I've ever had. The so called spicy dishes were anything but that and not a single dish we tried (beef tripe, lamb with cumin, spicy fish stew) had even a whiff of those tingly peppercorns that are the signature spice of this cuisine. This restaurant is no different from any street corner Chinese takeout but with heftier price tags. So if you want real satisfying Szechuan food then you'll just need to make that trek to the city and try out my personal favorite Ajiao. Here the food is always lip smacking good and the prices don't burn a hole in your pocket like the more hyped up downtown digs. We just wasted over $100 at this place for a dinner for two (sans alcohol) and just feel so dissatisfied and cheated by the misleading name and menu, ugh!! read more

Pretty good Chinese food for Westchester. The service was attentive and professional. The ambiance is very nice, with colorful masks on the wall and nice booths to sit at. As for the food, it was very mixed. The good: -eggplant and garlic sauce -spicy fried fish fillet -the dan dan noodles The bad: -the spicy wontons- these were way too sweet, and should have been spicier -sweet and sour soup- this had a very strange, bitter taste, it didn't taste anything like the sweet and sour soups I've had in Flushing. -mapo tofu- too mild. I did feel that a lot of the spiciness was dumbed down for Westchester tastes, which is the same problem I have with O' Mandarin. Still, this place wasn't bad as far as Westchester Chinese food goes, and if I come back, I'd like to try the string beans and minced pork. read more

Ardsley officially has the best Chinese restaurant in Westchester. Every single dish is a winner. You will not find the typical slimy, sweet, American-style Chinese dishes here. Every entree has the freshest ingredients cooked to perfection! If you're tired of the anemic, tasteless pork fried rice you get everywhere else, give it a try here. Each order is fried up fresh, as opposed to sitting in a large rice cooker all day. Shout out to Liebman's deli as well. Ardsley officially has the best pastrami sandwich too! It didn't have much taste and the texture made me think it was frozen. May have better luck with something else on the menu but not my favorite even in Ardsley. read more

Tried this fairly new restaurant for lunch this past week. It has had a whole new make over inside which is very clean fresh and modern. We ordered 3 lunch specials and were very pleased with all three dishes but the wonton soup was very disappointing though. . The wontons tasted like they were dried out dough popped in what happened to be a very tasty broth. Other than that our main dishes were really good. We had a shredded pork dish that was very good w a little spice, the sesame chicken that was very good , not too sweet or overly greasy and a chicken dish that was very tasty as well. I think they need to work on their wonton soup but other than that I will definitely give it another try read more

I had ever famous chicken with Szechuan peppers - a staple at any Szechuan restaurant and it was the worst I've ever had. The chicken was overly doused with cornstarch, the cilantro and garlic and spring onion were minuscule. It was very dry - i realize it's supposed to be but usually not over frying and adding enough of the other ingredients makes it less than how dry this was. Very disappointing. read more

I lived in China for 9 years and this is the real deal! No one loves Sichuanese more than me and my family. We came here and this was waaaaaay up these for Sichuan in the be States. We're 100% coming back. Our server, Steve, was incredibly friendly. He happily chatted about his favorite dishes and made recommendations when asked. Szechuan City is quiet and clean. I've eaten here three times, and each time, the food has been outstanding - in fact, I think it's gotten better each time. The live lobster with ginger special is superb. Fish with tofu pudding is authentic and delicious. Lamb with cumin is also a winner, and the standard eggplant with garlic sauce is handled with sublime skill and is robustly flavored - a step above anything else in Westchester. Was so thrilled to see this new restaurant open in the previous Golden Wok location. We've eaten there twice - once in the restaurant, and once takeout. The food is flavorful and prepared well. Terrific, friendly service and a comfortable setting. Great overall menu, but my favorites have come from the Szechuan Street Food section, particularly the shredded pork with Beijing sauce, served with slightly sweet Bao buns. Just delicious. And all the items taste fresh, particularly the vegetables. Considering the shocking lack of decent Chinese food in Westchester, I'm thrilled that Szechuan City is here. read more

I went back and they did not honor the complementary meal. They waived the cost of one dish but I was forced to pay for the rest of the meal. They made up a story that the business owner Jessica who offered the complementary meal was only an IT worker in India. Returned again. Had Egg Drop Soup and Hunan Shrimp. This time, the Hunan Shrimp definitely was in a sauce. And it had a wonderful combination of broccoli, peppers, mushrooms, etc. Shrimp were nicely done, fresh, and tender. But again, it was really bland. Not very spicy either for Hunan (although that would have been ok). It's just that the food here is very plain. If that is what you are looking for, this is the place for you. read more

Worth an update. Still my go-to Chinese restaurant. Have tried many dishes and all excellent and authentic. Most importantly, consistent. High quality and have yet to encounter a problem. Nice people and respect the owner's response to reviews. These guys are working hard to be the best and they are achieving their goal. Of note, seems like a few people are evaluating this place based on their pork fried rice, lo mein and General Tso's chicken. These dishes are American style Mandarin dishes that were popular in the former restaurant in this location. If you want to know what this restaurant can do, order the Szechuan dishes. I find their seasoning meets my taste but if you like super spicy or less spice, just ask. They will be happy to accommodate. read more

After a couple of visits, this is my new favorite restaurant. The tables are comfortably spaced, it's not noisy with loud music and, best of all, the ingredients are fresh and the dishes are tasty. Despite the name of the restaurant, the chef's specialty or original specialty seems to be Cantonese cuisine. Some dishes seem to be a fusion of Cantonese and Szechwan flavorings. There is heat in the spice but it's not overdone. We tried: Fried Chilean sea bass on a bed of pea shoots -- excellent. Perfectly cooked fish and veggies. Ants on a tree -- (vermicelli with ground pork), a Szechwan dish not found on many menus, delicious and just spicy enough. Basil chicken-- nicely stir fried. Cauliflower with pork -- actually with bean sprouts and Chinese celery, very good, the pork was tender. Poached fish in a spicy broth -- very good with perfectly cooked fish but not the usual Sichuan preparation. Spicy wontons -- good but they use sesame paste which seems to be in fashion but not my favorite preparation. The items on the Szechwan Street Food section of the menu might be the more usual Szechwan dishes and I look forward to trying more of those. read more
