Went here on a whim because we were craving sushi and I like the Senro Sushi in San Ramon. Unfortunately this place was very underwhelming. The service was sporadic as only one woman was bussing the tables, so that was understandable, but the biggest issue was the squishy and slimy sushi rice on every roll we ordered. I inquired if that was typical for them and was informed that that is how their rice is seasoned. Ultimately, we ended up just eating the fish off the rolls and left the soggy rice. On the plus side my 8 year old liked the edamame and miso soup, so there's that. read more

I don't think they even wiped the table recently. Promptly forgot us. Tried to give them a chance had to ask to take our order. Lukewarm tap water, hot water for tea but no actual tea that I could taste, ordered appetizers didn't come had to ask for them. (No tea refill, barely a water. Refill) Had 5 of us and our food came one meal at a time. We waited 40 mins. Delivery was spaced out much we didn't actually eat "together" since you wanted to eat while hot. Things included at 99% of other Japanese restaurants were all extra here. No complimentary edamame, no rice with a sashimi meal, (which was much smaller portion) no miso soup with certain meals. Had to ask to order, had to ask for a bowl, had to ask for appetizers, had to ask for check. A whole lot of asking and getting up. We won't ask to go again. Food mediocre, service horrendous, parking lousy. Asked me if everything was good. Don't ask something you don't want the answer to. We will go back to Meiko instead. read more

Hidden in the back of a parking lot and up a small ramp you will find this adorably decorated little restaurant loaded with a crazy amount of rolls and great service! Walked in at 12:30 and were seated instantly. Received waters shortly after, and given some time to look over the extensive menu that contains clever names for all items. Ended up ordering a Volcano Roll, Raider Roll, and another that skips my mind at the moment...either way, each came with about eight pieces and was more that enough to fill us up! The Volcano Roll was our favorite; very large and came with a sauce that added on some great flavor! Sadly it was suppose to have some spice in it which we did not find. The Raider Roll was great but kind of bland; with all the different ingredients inside you think it would be explosive, but it ended up just being meh. And maybe I'm becoming a little uptight as I age, but I really do think that the percentage of the general public are just rude and stupid grows each year. Am I being a grumpy old man already? Stopped into Senro for the first time the other night. I've seen it often when on my way to Happ's for a drink. This time I was more in the mood for a little sushi and Kirin. A mom and two little kids were leaving as I came in. The kids were baring their teeth and snarling at me as I walked in. I wonder what they ate? It was cute and I snarled back - the little girl couldn't keep her snarl and started giggling. That's when I first heard the quartet in the corner. 4 women in their late 20's cackling away. I could hear one of them saying "why would you take little kids for sushi. That's irresponsible and so expensive. They would prefer a hamburger." If I could hear it, so could the mother. I commend parents that take kids to places like this. I did and my kids will eat just about anything now. Anyway, I smiled at the mom and kids as they left and sat at the sushi bar. The 4 women were non-stop. "Ewww, what's that?" "Why would you eat that." "Don't that have American beer here?" "I got sick on sake bombs 2 years ago and can't touch it now." And on and on it went. I didn't order much. There was a special roll of the day - the Zig Zag roll. Soft shell crab, similar to a Spider roll - main differences are the crab is cut into smaller pieces and it's wrapped in soy paper. It was very good. I also got Hamachi and Sake - both were very fresh. And since the Zig Zag took some prep time, they served the nigiri first and I ate them while they prepared the roll. Nice touch. The sushi was cut well. Fairly large size pieces, but not so huge they are difficult to handle. Also the rice underneath was perfectly sized. Usually when large pieces of sushi are served, many places also make the rice under it very large also. Then it's too much rice and impossible to eat at one time. The ginger was fresh and of good quality. But the squeezed the wasabi out of a pastry bag. Had a nice floral pattern, but just didn't seam right - or maybe the 4 woman were just annoying me. The food was delicious. The beer was as it should be. The staff was friendly, though it took a while to get my check picked up and cleared. The waitress was talking to another customer that appeared to be a regular. The prices are good - $3.95 to $4.50 for most nigiri orders. The rolls are $4.25 for something like a California roll to $8.99 for a Spider roll to $11.99 for something larger or more unique like a Ecstasy roll (Spicy real Crab, tuna, sake, hamachi, ebi, and unagi. I still prefer Sakura (San Ramon) for quality and service , but the quality here is almost as good and the prices are better while the service is lacking). read more

We came in hungry, and my usual rule of thumb is to never go to a sushi joint starving. But, rules are meant to be broken. We ordered a senro roll and some other hamachi roll whose name i forgot. Also got a bento with katsu, agedashi tofu and salmon. Man, everything was super good. The rolls were fresh, maybe a little overdone with all the special sauces and stuff. And pretty generous too. The grilled items were great too. Katsu was light and not oily. Salmon was a tad overdry, but expected. I think the hit of the night for me was the agedashi tofu. Went here last night and came in around 6:30 pm there was one other couple who had came in and they ended up walking out because they were there for 30 minutes they said prior to us showing up and we're not helped not even ordered their drinks yet. We We're very skeptical about it but we have not been here in over six months so it was a real treat for us so we decided to stay. Are you guys serious? 4 stars? Barely 3 stars for me, but my standard for 3 stars are very low. The plus side is that Pleasanton does have sushi, and it is not terrible, probably on par with expensive buffet level sushi but not the varieties. The menu doesnt excite me (very boring), the sushi is so-so, price is about 15% more expensive than other towns. I usually go 20 miles for sushi, now still seems to be the case if I want to get good sushi. read more

The boyfriend took me here the other night on recommendations from his co-workers. It's in this quaint area reminiscent of University Avenue in Palo Alto, off the main street. Actually, I think it's called Main Street. This place looked tiny from the outside, but we were pleasantly surprised when we saw that it was spacious, well-lit and super clean. I was still a little hesitant because the place was almost empty at 7pm on a Friday night, but all worries went out the window when we got our food. The Ninja Roll (avocado, spicy tuna and crab meat deep fried topped with a creamy wasabi sauce and a crapload of tobiko) was amazing! We really liked the Spicy Korean Chirashi (sashimi pieces, lettuce, rice, korean hot sauce), but it was pricey ($18), it didn't come with enough rice, and the sauce was too thick and hard to mix in. We also had the Giant Whale, but it wasn't memorable. I can't even tell you what was in it. Also, they only give you four pieces per roll. They're pretty big pieces, but still. This review is for a pick-up order NOT for dine-in. I've eaten here a handful of times with small and large groups and had great food and service. So, when I found myself too busy to cook with a tight deadline looming in the middle of the week, I didn't hesitate to call in and order take-out. To my disappointment, the 'wakame' seaweed salad consisted mainly of a bed of iceberg lettuce and sliced tomato with only 1/3 of it being actual seaweed. I immediately called the restaurant to ensure I didn't get the wrong order, but they confirmed that's how they actually make their wakame salad. This is the first Japanese restaurant I've seen, and I have been to plenty on both East and West Coasts, that puts anything other than seaweed on their wakame salad. I think they should state that on their menu! I also ordered a Caterpillar and a Philadelphia roll. The former had the same great taste as the ones I've had in the restaurant. The salmon on the latter, though, lacked the freshness it normally has. It tasted more like a Safeway roll. The service was its usual prompt and cordial; unfortunately, the food was not on par with it. Senro, it pains me to not be able to give you five stars, but you really ought to do something about your wakame salad. My rating is actually 2.5 stars, which I hope I can upgrade on my next review. read more

All of the rolls and other items I've had from here were very yummy. There was this one particular roll that I was impressed with. It's called the Speed "O" roll. Hard not to hit up this Pleasanton spot, it's quite enticing with its curb appeal and attractive on the inside that naturally lifts your spirits. An abundance of specialty rolls, they try not to stuff crab into every one of them. If there is a weakness, however, it's their over-baked / over-fried tempura where I'm teeth gnashing more into batter than into name goodness. I wish I also didn't have to complain that my Teriyaki meat came out with too much fattiness. Fast forward to today when I took my mom here for her birthday lunch. We ordered Gyoza, California Roll and W. Very kid friendly! The kids meal was 7.99 and my kids got chicken teriyaki (their usual) but the best part was that one of the side choices was 2 pieces of shrimp tempura. The tempura was still crispy after being packed in a to go box. The rolls were also tasty. I forgot the name but one of them was a California roll with salmon sashimi with seaweed salad on top, pretty unique. Minus 1 star because it just took way to long. We had a really nice pleasant dinner at Senro Sushi. We went there right after doing the vigil mass at St Augustine. Our group of 7 were seated at the patio. It was wonderfully comfortable to be eating outdoors after days of heat wave. Food was good. My daughter and I shared an agedashi tofu and beef yaki udon. Noodles were just the right chewiness and very satisfying. The tofu was simple and good. The others in our group liked their special rolls and tempura. I've seen a few reviews from other Yelpers about the rude service that they received. Our server seemed abrupt in her actions and maybe didn't converse well in English. This is actually the second time I took my family to this place. The first time we were very pleased with the food; so on my birthday, i thought, hey, let's go celebrate it by having some yummy sushi! Boy did they not disappoint! We arrived around 6pm on a Friday night and still got a table right away without any wait. we (with 3 kids) ordered one dinner combo, two sushi rolls (Shelby and Shrimp Festival), and one tempura udon. the food started arriving within 10 minutes, and they are very delicious. the kids loved the udon and tempura, and my wife and i both enjoyed the sushi rolls very much. i have to say, if you decide to give this place a try, do try their Shelby roll at least once. i am a saba (mackerel) lover and have eaten it at numerous restaurants; and the saba shioyaki here is rated right up there. just a tint of salt with lots of natural flavor of the fish...very moist and yummy. did i also mention the portion of the dinner combo is very generous? all around great food, very attentive service staff, and extremely kids-friendly. we had to ask them numerous times for extra bowls and plates for the kids, and they bring them to us right away. you know what? next time i will be taking my friends there to share with them this great place to eat at! read more

I have been to Senro Sushi many times and I usually enjoy the fresh food and "decent" service..however recently the quality of service has been below average. After I arrived it took an expended amount of time to get my order and we waited such a long time for it to arrive...Once it finally arrived I had to get up and ask if I could order more food and I was told the kitchen was closed...No one ever stopped by the table to say "last call" or the "kitchen was closing soon or would you like to order more"....oh and there was only 3 occupied tables in the restaurant at this time! We ended up not being able to order additional food and came home still hungry!!!!!! I am so disappointed and will look for another restaurant that puts customer service first! read more

This place used to be my go to for sushi. They always had fresh sushi and a spectacular roll variety. A while back they had come under new ownership. The roll selection, menu, and atmosphere remained the same. The fish quality seemed to suffer. The fish seemed to be thinner slices of lesser quality and a less fresh than I'd like. The staff was ALWAYS wonderful. They knew us when we visited and what we frequently ordered. I haven't visited in sometime, so maybe a revisit and reevaluation is needed, but as of my last few visits... This is my conclude. read more
