To start, the chips and salsa were great. Chips were thin and salsa was fresh. We came here because they had birria tacos and they def didn't disappoint. 4 tacos filled with shredded beef and shells were cooked just right. I got the El Tulum and there was enough food for 2 people! I couldn't finish my meal, which def doesn't happen often. The Barbacoa and tinga were very flavorful. I wanted to really love this place but most of our dishes lacked flavor, especially the Birria. I was surprised because it seems to be overwhelmingly recommended as a good spot for Mexican food but this is like the place you'd take your Caucasian family who thinks salt counts as a spice and orders chicken tenders at almost every restaurant. The first couple of times we came here, I was excited that you had at least ONE vegan option (would've been nice to have more). It was the portobello tacos. They were good. So good that we came back and got them again. Last time we went, I got them again. There was not only bits of meat in them, but also some shrimp and cheese. Yes, they were the right tacos, but looked like someone was in such a hurry and wasn't paying attention at all. Our family is vegan, and if meat, dairy, or egg is in our food, it will not be eaten. There is a large vegan group in Annapolis, and I've sent a few people here because of the tacos. I've now had to retract my recommendation, sadly. If this changes, I'd be willing to try again, but this really hurt my impression and upset the rest of my family also. Wow. We came here today for lunch, a party of 4 for the first time. We got the guacamole to start and even though they still put in the jalapeños that I asked them to omit, it was still excellent and I survived (no heartburn). It was pricey though as it was market price -$16. It was huge though and worth it. Some of the best we've ever had. Salsa and chips were great as well. Chips are very thin and light. Other dishes ordered were the shrimp tacos, fish tacos and ground beef tacos, all very good. Their chicken tortilla soup was apparently excellent and the small size was huge. We also had the churros for dessert. They came with whipped cream and they seemed fresh, just made. This was some of the best authentic Mexican food we've had in this area. However, we found the highly rated Señor Chile near our new home in Annapolis and decided to check it out for my husband's birthday recently (his choice). Let me say, this place really impressed me!! The food, OMG. Traditional, tasty, bomb Mexican food in Maryland, FINALLY! The queso, to die for. I got the birriadilla which is a mix between a birria taco and a quesadilla, complete with super savory consommé--also bomb. Hubby got a tasty burrito señor and he was in heaven. I also got an horchata (a must) which had a subtle peanut butter flavor and was good. The service was ok, we weren't checked on a lot. We will definitely be back to eat more at this place though. The only downside I would say was the blaring music, which was way too loud (it didn't help that we were sitting right under the speaker). It's a restaurant, not a club, guys! read more

We found this place had delicious food complimented by wonderful service by everyone we encountered. Our server, Daisy, was attentive and even told us where their sister restaurants were located. Our order started with drinks: watermelon mojito and a bottled Modelo with a fountain soda. A yummy helping of made to order guacamole (the only item that was portioned small). Our entrees were a chicken quesadilla and delicious tacos. We ordered 2 types: street tacos and Tex-Mex tacos; they gave us extra lime and cilantro both of which make a scrumptious taco. The decor was beautiful: from barrels for stools and light covers to the stunning Mexican-inspired paintings, neon lights and murals. service = 1 star food = 2 star This was our second visit to the edgewater restaurant. best thing about the salsa? it was free. it lacked a tomato or even bright chili flavor just a flat, roasted flavor. I had the 'los amigos' combination. The tamale was thin on masa with way too much filling. The mole sauce had no chili flavor, it was brown and a bit sweet (odd). The cheese enchi was pretty tasty. the taquito was okay but the taste got lost in the cheese sauce. They add something to the guacamole that is unique but not in a good way. My wife had a chicken chimi. She told me it really lacked flavor and all she could taste was the cheese sauce (what's wrong with enchi style with red sauce?). My son had the birria gorditas. They were tasty and stuffed with meat -- the star of the show for our visit. We ended with a shared flan. It was a bit thick for custard but tasted good. As for the service -- we ran out of drinks and had to flag down our server to get refills and our server seemed like we were keeping her from something she wanted to do. I'm a KI local and Senor's Chile is my favorite. It's perfect for a girls night out, celebration, date night, or dumpster-fire-day that you're ready to turn around. My favorites are the chili rellenos and anything with birria (especially the mulitas). I've tried a pretty decent variety of meals and all their food hits the spot. The guacamole is awesome and even the free chips and salsa is so delicious that we eat every single chip (they bring you more). Did I mention their drinks are as artistic as the hand blown glass decor? If you're a purist, their regular mojito is hard to beat. Need a little cheering up? Try the pink margarita for senioritas. Service is always top notch. I brought a group of middle school students here once and they had so much fun. Locals fill this place up fast so try to beat the late night dinner crowd by coming a bit earlier if you can.
