There's something about See's Candies. Especially during the holidays. It was always something we gave and received as gifts by friends, neighbors and my parent's co-workers--so we always had a box or two sitting on the coffee table during the holidays. And frankly, throughout the year. It was a family favorite. As a grown adult, I've in turn been known to give our friends and neighbors boxes of See's. I've also enjoyed filling my little ones stocking with the cute little holiday treats. This year she turned 4 and we started an advent calendar. We ended up getting little chocolates here to put behind each door. She got the large hallow Santa on day 12 and she loved it. I made my usual visit here for the holidays and spent over $400. Insane amount to spend on chocolate but it's fail-proof. Everyone who receives really enjoys and appreciates. Some of the staff members here are more helpful and friendly than others but that's pretty typical of any retail establishment. I'm grateful I did my shopping here relatively early this year. It gets to be nuts the closer it gets to Christmas and they will run out of stocking stuffer items early. read more

So many yummy choices to choose from and who says no to a free chocolate sample. Not going to eat yours? I'll take it. I recently ran in to this See's to grab a birthday present for Mom. We literally ran in the door 5 minutes till close. I know retail, and usually you don't get very happy employees when they see customers coming in when they're trying to close. But this one was AWESOME! Very friendly and attentive staff working at this location. My husband initially went in to get some change to deposit some money and received (5min before closing time) two samples and a very sweet invite to come back. A week later I went to the bank and thought why not stop by. The store is clean and just very inviting. I like the atmosphere inside and bought a little box for a birthday gift. This is a busy little place, but the staff is very friendly and attentive. They offered me a free sample, which was unexpected but much appreciated. They price their candy by weight, so I only ordered four pieces so it wouldn't be too expensive. It came out to a little over $3, and they were all delicious. I went in today to get a birthday present for my dad and the woman named Gina I believe, had a little accent... was extremely NICE. She helped us find everything! Although there was a lady named Susanne who made the whole experience uncomfortable as she was EXTREMELY RUDE to other customers around us in the store. I witnessed Susanne completely shut a customer down, wouldn't let her speak, and told her "your gonna be fine!". As an employee you should never cut someone off and tell them they're going to be fine, without even hearing them out. I cannot tell you how grateful I am that this store was opened in Encinitas a few years ago! Not only do I run in for quick gifts that will make anyone happy, but the reason for my review is the staff. They exemplify all that you would wish for in a business. They are so pleasant, warm, generous and caring. I feel like I am in a small town in the Midwest when I am in their company, and they always offer me a sample, often searching for the perfect one to make me agree to try it! They are NOT like employees in several of the other outlets, as I experienced this when I shopped at UTC last Friday. My kids were confused. The employees were not very friendly, and after offering us mocha flavored chocolate, I asked if there was an alternative and they looked at me like I was being rude. We left quickly after making our purchase. Were we in the wrong store? My kids even went out and checked the sign! I told them the people working there did not enjoy their jobs, obviously.
