Me and one of my friends signed up for their in-person classes and LOVED IT! We did the kokodama class on a weekend morning. Parking- I just did the paid parking in the structure since it was closer. It was $8 for 2 hours. The komodama class was around $70 and you get to take home 2 you've made. The instructor was patient, helpful and had good instructions. The group had many follow up questions and he explained things well. They gave us a good assortment to choose from to make the kokadama. After we finished making them, we wanted cute vases and the instructor helped us find the best fitting one for our plant. The whole store is filled with adorable plants and accessories. I walked out of there thinking I'll be able to keep my plants alive but it's a serious challenge. Overall, highly recommend taking a class from Pigment. It's a fun way to have a day date where you use your hands and enjoy their beautiful outside patio. read more

I LOVE PIGMENT! The first location I got the chance to visit was in North Park and the employees were so kind and friendly 10/10 for the service at the North Park location. I was surprised to find one at this shopping center and walked in to browse the baggu bags and cute plushies. The store had a huge variety of baggu bags and keychains. Twice in the past few days, my wife, was at the One Paseo store to create these beautiful bowls of succulents and both times, we/she was so blessed to have Pigment's employee Sarah help her through the creative process of making these amazing succulent arrangements. Sarah is exceptional in kindness and patience and positivity in this wonderfully unique artistic and creative process and experience. My wife was there yesterday creating her first succulent creation on the patio at One Paseo and Sarah helped her through the entire process, re-using a bowl my wife had purchased at this same Pigment store maybe a while ago? Sarah helped her throughout the process of selecting the appropriate size and type of succulents and then carefully explained the processes for creating the perfect bowl with placement, styling and the use of small rocks/stones to create the perfect bowl of succulents. My wife had so much fun, she got two other bowls and wanted to go back this morning, and again we saw that Sarah was there and again, Sarah helped her throughout the process of selecting the appropriate size and type of succulents and then supported my wife's processes for creating the perfect bowl with placement, styling and the use of small rocks/stones to create the perfect bowl of succulents. I've included photos of what she created for your reference. Today, there were other families there on the patio and Sarah was great with all the customers and guiding the process for a fun, memorable experience. It was especially rewarding to watch the family next to us, a mom and dad with two teenage daughters, have so much fun making their bowls, talking to each other, especially in these days when spending time with the parents seems challenging or your kids are only interesting on being on their phones!! It was a little pricey but when the cashier said you can purchase the plant, pot, or both, I was sold! I got an amazingly gorgeous plant for a great price! It's huge and I will be coming back! Pigment is one of my fave places to browse for decor, stationary, pots, vases, etc. they have so many different options here and in different colors as well. They have a lot of baggu options in stock. They also have reusable baggu bags too, which I did end up getting. I was also browsing for some nice propagation vases and found one that I liked. This place is really cool! A fancy succulent building space with some very mellow, summertime, relax vibes. A little pricey for some succulents but well worth the $$ for a nice environment, nice selection of succulents, sand, moss, dried flowers and more. We stumbled by here after walking off shake shack one day. The customer service was phenomenal. They walked us through the process, checked on us, gave us advice and were just very helpful. We created a little scene with the succulents, and it is proudly displayed on a shelf in the living room. I will be back here. Not a lot because I am cheap and get my succulents for free from neighbors, LOL, but I will go back for sure. Pigment is the shop where plants meet boho chic. As soon as you walk in everything catches your eye! It's all color coordinated and It's just so colorful. Besides there being a great selection of plants and succulents, there's clothing items, books, and lots of little knick knacks. The staff is friendly. I wish I could give this shop a higher rating since my family has loved their shops across SD, but this weekend we had some terrible service :( Pigment is one of my mom's favorite shops so I wanted to make a few succulent planters with her for mother's day. We got there around 6pm and were aware they closed at 7pm. I asked two different employees if there are any specific steps we needed to follow to make these plants (as there's a huge assortment of plants, vases, soil, sand, etc) and they both brushed off my request. I understand its DIY, but they didn't even direct me to where I could find the gardening tools or what to bring to the cashier once we were done. When I went to checkout the cashier was rude, asking if I could identify the different succulents were chose even though I gave her the empty plant pots with the tags on it? She was convinced there was a plant pot I didn't give her to charge. They even called someone from their "green team" to identify the plants and they couldn't identify the plants. It took 10 minutes to check out because of this. And if you know pigment, you know they are a pretty pricey store. For 2 small succulent plans it was more than $40. I anticipated the price and didn't care as it was a mother's day gift/experience, but I felt we could have been assisted with more. read more

But, if you make a purchase online, you have 30 days to return for a refund. So disappointing! I purchased a handbag and tried to return it within 24 hours - it wasn't even out of the bag it came in. We shop here quite often - there's lots of cute things and nice plants. However, our latest experience was pretty bad. We weren't greeted, nor ever checked in on. But the 3 girls working chatted it up the whole time about lord knows what. When my wife went to purchase, she realized the price on the pot was lower than what was reflected on the receipt. The cashier acted as if she was annoyed that she pointed it out, and even said, "If I'm not able to adjust it then I just can't." Wow! Maybe customer service is not for you. Needless to say we won't be spending our money here going forward. read more

I give credit for any gift shop still being open... really I do. Pigment started out as an ultra hip spot in North Park. They had the best of the best. I've noticed in the last few years that the quality has gone down. In fact, if you squint, you almost feel like you are at a Pier One Imports. I hate their candles with the floral patterns on the outside. How cheap do these look? They definitely chock the store full of stuff.... jars of glitter, (those specific candles) and other junk gets repeated over and over to make the store appear magical, I guess? Instead it looks really cheap. They do have a few nice, high end items thrown in. I like their books and cocktail section. Their cards are good. During the holidays, they bring a few more items in and you can knock out a few gifts. I'd still check it out but it could be a LOT better. read more

This is the third Pigment location. I've bought from the original North Park location and really think that one is so much better. When the owners outgrew the NP location, they opened a second one in Liberty Station. I've not been to the Liberty Station Pigment but from what I understand, there is no comparing the three and that's the way the owners want it. I'm giving 3* only because they haven't been here long enough to be fully and completely stocked and it feels like something is lacking, possibly because this is a much bigger space. Let's give them a fair chance and see if they bring in the goods everyone wants. I saw a lot of glitzy stuff, such as face glitter (as worn by Hannah Brown on the current season of The Bachelorette), so if that's your thing, you'll love this location. What I don't like about every Pigment store are their pre-made arrangements, where they stuff as many succulents into a container as they can because it's a showstopper to them. Unfortunately, the plants are all destined to a slow, painful death and you'll feel it too because they're not cheap. $48 for a 5" pot is for rich people, no? Well I'm not a 1%er lol and I fell for it. They play on the instant gratification aspect. My planter is a year old and EVERYTHING has died except the cactus, which has taken over the whole damn pot. I consider myself to have a really green thumb so it's disappointing. At least any day now I'll have three fairly large pink cactus flowers. Score? The other negative is that since nothing has a price tag on it (the jewelry), I got the impression when I asked about several necklaces, the sales associate just pulled numbers out of a hat. They sell only Kasia jewelry here, since there is a Marrow Fine Jewelry in the same shopping center. Pigment sells Marrow in their other two Pigment locations, but not here, so as not to compete. Interestingly, if you Google Kasia Jewelry, the prices are sometimes in the thousands. Maybe these at Pigment are knock-offs, I can't say. Just beware all that glitters is not gold. Customer service was virtually non existent as we weren't greeted or asked if we needed any help in finding anything, etc. We'll see what happens with this Pigment, as it seems to be only about 60% complete. It appears they were in a rush to open. read more

I came into pigment today to get a few miscellaneous things, and I was assisted by the sweetest girl ever! Leila was so so kind and informative and patient with my questions. She knew everything about the store, she helped me create the plant of my dreams, and told me how to take care of it! She also explained to me how the store is laid out, and she just seemed to have so much knowledge! The store itself is 10/10. Every time I come in here, I come out with something. I live near the north park location but I had to stop by the Del Mar location. The store is color coordinated and super organized. It's one of the most aesthetic stores I've ever been in. My roommate and I went to Blue Bottle to grab some coffee one morning and on our way back to the car we saw Pigment. This location was pretty spacious! They had a little patio area where I believe they hold workshops. Pigment sells a wide selection of dainty jewelry, journals, wallets, purses, plants, pot holders, cards, etc (you get the idea). Perfect place to get a gift for someone, or even splurge on yourself. Every time I walk in I have a hard time leaving because I love looking at every little thing! Up at the register they have an email sign up where they send you emails on promotions or new items they get in. This store never disappoints and is so freaking aesthetically pleasing.
