It has been almost 3 months since we started to use Security Public Storage in Pinole. Remembering what happened on our first day. My husband and I, with my Mom went to the office and filled out the forms. The office manager (I think that's her title (I should've written this review earlier, sorry) provided us excellent service. She was engaging and projected being professional and enthusiastic. Each of us got a gift for being there the first time-- 2 logo thermos (hubby & Mom) recyclable shopping bag (for me). It was such a pleasant experience. It definitely assured us that our stuff will be in good hands while being secured. As far as the facility, it was SO CLEAN and BRIGHT! The storage itself was also clean and spacious! Overall, Idefinitely recommend Security Public Storage. Though "coming back" in this type of establishment is a positive, I hope not! I wouldn't recommend this storage facility. Instead of remodeling the outside they need to get a handle on the rat problem. The rat traps outside of the building I don't think are helping at all. I caught 4 large rats in my storage unit in a month. I had metal shelves with large plastic sealed bins and a desk. I had no cardboard boxes, thankfully because rats dropping were everywhere. I had to clean once a week. The office knew because told them on several occasions. NASTY. read more

I'm glad some other people mentioned the rat infestation. The place has got a problem. I noticed signs in the unit I had rented and would of had to clean and disinfect everything. Then there is the lady in the front desk, I'm not sure which is worse. She should be dropped. Their rules state no shouting in the business grounds yet she raise her voice at me on two occasions for no other reason than her having a bad day I guess, I mean who shouts at a client or anyone for that matter? I was shocked, I was taking too long to open the gate and I guess she didn't like that, not that it affected her or anyone else, she was out of line and I got no appoligy, nothing. There are plenty of storage places in the area and we picked this one largely because they answers our call quickly and provided clear, direct answers to questions, including about price and availability. No pressure to give a lot of our information first, just a simple "What do you need? We recommend this size unit, here's what's available now, here's how much it costs." Staff was friendly when we came in and processed the rental efficiently. The facility is a bit of a maze (which is true of nearly all such facilities) but it's clean and well lit with motion sensitive lighting. Each unit has an access alarm, so when someone code in on the outside gate, the system knows which unit they should be accessing; if they instead crack open YOUR unit, the alarm goes off. Easy access from I-80, across the street from Pinole Valley High School and next door to the Pinole Library. read more

I been renting here for about 2yrs now. My husband informed me the last time he went to the unit there was an infestation of rat feces and urine and that one of the units was hoarding food which caused the rodent outbreak. He was told this information from a neighbor near our unit. These units are not completely sealed and they cannot control any future rodent occurrences, which is a sorry excuse. You can provide better barrier protection, some units are sealed better than my units have wood rafters in the hallway. There's an obvious 1 inch gaping opening. They advised that I have insurance with my unit and take photos and they will help. That's not good enough! What about all the time I need to go through and throw damaged items that are now contaminated with rat feces and toxic rat urine. They do little to help and don't care. The manager Michelle claims that she's not aware of any problems with units. I call BS! Just looking at the reviews below, the actual owner claims there was indeed a problem. There were no notices or emails that there was a rodent problem and they claim no responsibility. I was asked, well why didn't your husband tell us he found droppings? Because I deal with a the issues, he doesn't like confrontation, I handle all those matters. It's my first time coming here in months and I wanted to assess the situation and now that I have, it's worse than I thought. This is downright unacceptable, don't rent here. I'm sure there are better places with better infrastructure than this place. If you want to retain customers and gain new customers, being transparent is important. Michelle, the manger, is acting dumb and clueless... please stop lying. They know they have a problem and never notified anyone DO NOT RENT HERE! They seem so nice and once there is a problem, they don't care. I'm looking for another place in the mean time. read more

I do not recommend. I've been a client since mid-January. I've had good experiences until today. I don't know if that is partially true since I was in Southern California for most of the rental agreement. But, I can say that when I've had an issue with losing my key or need late entry, they've been very helpful. Today, I went into my unit to gather my things to prepare for a camping trip. There is mice poop EVERYWHERE! I will update this posting with pictures by EOD. I contacted them regarding this issue. They referred me to their insurance company since I have insurance through them. I'm currently a school administrator and don't have time to navigate an insurance process. I asked them would they be discounting my $282 per month fee (that I've never been late on) and they said, "No. They will not and that's what their insurance is for." They could not provide any info on who the insurance provider was nor what the process was. The call was frustrating and super unhelpful. So, if you want mice poop all over your treasured belongings with no attempt on their end to remedy the situation, go for it. If you're the average hard worker that trusts the reviews of a company and expect them to address your concerns in an empathetic and timely manner, this is not the place for you. So, now I have to schedule a trip to a sports store to replace equipment that I expected a place that I'm paying $282 a month to protect. read more

I had only heard bad things about storage units so I was nervous when it came time to finding one. SPS had the best reviews and I can tell why! My experience from start to finish was seamless! I feel the pricing was extremely reasonable and I loved that there was no surprise fees at any point. We only ended up needing the unit for 1 month and thought there would be some hidden cancellation fee or the process would be super complicated in order to get another month out of us but that was not the case. BEWARE: Rodent infested My furniture and items were damaged with rodent urine and droppings. Droppings were also all over the floor. My unit did not have any food but these rodents made themselves at home. I submitted a claim with the insurance agency Public Storage uses and it was disappointing. Value of items damaged was around $2,000 but the insurance agency only issued $400 for the damage and said this is the maximum they provide. Not only are my items damaged and I didn't receive a reasonable amount for this claim, but I'll also have to spend time and money cleaning out this disgusting unit. Highly recommend you seek elsewhere for storage. read more

We saw three of the different sizes and they were clean and very easy to open and close the pull down steel doors. Security Public Storage in Pinole is a great facility with kind helpful staff. I kept some extra belongings -- tools, furniture, clothes etc -- at this location for about two years. Strictly speaking I don't think it's climate controlled but I visited on both cold and very hot days (100+ degrees) and the interior was always very reasonable. Whenever I had questions, or for example when I needed to coordinate to have third parties move things in/out of my unit, the staff was friendly and accommodating.
