Les Moulins La Fayette - Pastries

Les Moulins La Fayette

Small French bakery located on Calgary Trail. They have a pretty good selection of pastries,…read moredesserts, frozen quiche and other items you can expect from a coffee shop. I popped in mid morning on a weekday so it wasn't busy at all. It's not a big place but they have a few spots to eat indoors as well as a couple of tables outdoors. The service was quick. I was in and out of there in under 5 mins. I ordered a cappuccino and an apple turnover. The drink was standard and comparable to most cappuccinos you'd find at other places. The apple turnover was a nice size and tasted good however, I was not expecting it to be filled with applesauce! That's a first and I didn't care for the applesauce filling. I wish it were filled with real apples. I'm sure with the real apples it would taste spectacular. Price point- drinks are average prices you'd see elsewhere. Pastries were slightly pricey compared to other French coffee shops in town. Their croissants are about $6 and other places are $3-4. I'd like to come back and try a few more items from their menu.

There's a new French bakery on Calgary Trail. I stopped here recently to try out their desserts…read more The inside is modern and aesthetic. There were many bakery items and pastries to choose from. I tried the maple chou chou, apple turn over and cheesecake. They gave me the option to warm the apple turn over which was nice. The maple chou chou and cheesecake came cold because their desserts are displayed in fridges. The desserts were pretty good and not too sweet. Prices were reasonable. I wouldn't mind coming back and trying more items. They also had frozen pastries and desserts that you could buy as well.

another hidden cafe gem in Edmonton close to the high level bridge…read more It's a cool cafe that looks like a house from the outside.

Oh. Em. Squeal!!!!!…read more First off, mad props to my friend for introducing me to this charming new addition to the coffee scene. Stop Gap opened just under a month ago in Oliver. They describe themselves as a temporary (stop gap) means to filling a need - coffee - served with an intentional and caring heart. Caleb Kam, the owner, is warm and inviting. He definitely knows his coffee. You may know him from his former life at Brown Butter Cafe. Caleb focuses on Canadian, fresh, and local! I spotted Ace and Candid today (Edmonton gems). The clientele were sweet and happy to offer up their faves! Nathan, a regular, told me Caleb is the go to for the best pour over in town. I opted for a Dirty Chai - made to perfection and my friend had a oat milk chai complete with milk art adorning the top. Both beverages were perfection. Coffee can be consumed in house complete with adorable coasters (el gato was my fave naturally, meow) or taken to go. For seating, there is a cute bench against the window front and a side room available if not booked. Caleb also had fresh donuts from Fuzion in Chinatown. My friend and I shared the cake and Cinnamon bun donut today. Sooo ridiculously good. Be sure to check Fuzion out online - they don't have a storefront so you will need to order in advance if you are looking to up your donut game at your next office meeting. I seriously can't wait to come back here again! Oh and they also have a beautiful meeting space available for rent on the main floor in case you want to bring your next staff meeting to the best coffee in town! Such a true pleasure meeting you today, Caleb! Stop Gap is exactly what YEG needs!
