I've been here a few times before but only for the coffee. This time I had one of their pizzas. I ordered the roma which was quite delicious. All of the ingredients were fresh. As it's thin crust and I was quite hungry, I was able to finish the entire box on my own. That saying, you could easily share it if you're not overly hungry. They have a large selection of food items to choose from as well as pastries and baked goods. I personally don't really care for their desserts but I'd totally come back for pizza and coffee. Customer service was wonderful. They had someone constantly going around and cleaning up dishes/garbage. I even heard them immediately offer to waive a customer's bill because their order wasn't ready when they arrived to pick it up. 1 star for the cashier and barista there's no communication between them. for 2 consecutive days of ordering my beverages they forgot my order which is few customers and I have to follow it. The second day I'm asking to the cashier why they don't give my order to the barista and she really struggle to find my order and like she said I'm not the one made the mistake. Please improve your service all you have to do is chatting all the time. read more

I love the food and the atmosphere! The three star goes to that and if my stars could only go to the food I would have given 6 starts for the food! However, the customer service and ordering process is chaotic! Three person were standing beside cashier! Two guys were standing on the other side laughing, three other girl were standing close to bakery and chatting while 5-6 people were in line, waiting for their turn. Each ordering was approximately taking 3-5 minutes! I don't think this number is good and efficient! If you are having a bad day or it's one of those days that you're not patient: I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING THERE! The staff will surely make your day worse! Keep this place on your list for the days you're relaxed and calm and the chaos can be taken as fun and adventure! This way, you'll enjoy the food and atmosphere! read more

The food is always prepared quick and efficiently. The desserts and coffee are too good! The vibe is kinda gives me "hole in the wall" type of feel, it's definitely an if you know you know type of place! Service is quick and food comes out hot! read more

I've bought groceries here many times but until today it hadn't occurred to me to have lunch here too. It's a good thing we arrived before 11:30am because shortly after we ordered our food a line-up developed that remained until after we finished eating. There was never a shortage of tables so perhaps most people were getting take out lunches. I had a Torpedo Sandwich and they grilled it like a panini. It was a perfect size for me. The sandwich was tasty although it would have been so much better with some mustard. The coffee was excellent. They provided a good sized mug for $2.50 (or a tiny cup for $2.00). The atmosphere is eclectic as you would expect at the nearly famous and locally owned Italian Centre. There are endless choices for sweets and baked goods and that's even before you walk to the grocery side. If there is a negative it's the parking. The parking lot is busy and even the street is full of parked cars. If you are driving a truck stay out of the parking lot as the stalls are tight. If you are driving a sexy Italian vehicle, you can probably find a place to park although you may have to circle around a couple of times. Oh and most of the tables are for two or four people so if you have too many friends you may want to go elsewhere or cool down your over active social life. There is just one big table and it seems to be permanently in use by a bunch of older Italian guys, and you probably don't want to mess with them. Why haven't I come here earlier? I mean I've often walked by or checked out the Italian Centre store which is attached, but this pizza totally hit the spot (and I drank a delicious smoothie too!) when I visited this week. The crust was perfect as were the toppings! Staff were very capable and helpful and cleaned after the patrons. I loved hearing the conversations of staff who knew regulars' orders upon their arrival. I will definitely return for delicious food and beverages! read more

As far as a fabulous espresso based beverages, on the deep south side, goes... Well, you are looking (ok, reading) about it! It: As in the one and only place. In a suburbia that is filled with ill StarB's and second rate Second Cups, once you wander south of Whyte Ave, there is a serious lack of authentic and really outstanding caffeinated bevvies! Now Spinelli's could literally be an espresso machine in a parking lot and still receive a 5 star rating, it's that good. But no, there is much more to it. It also has tasty in-house made sweet treats (including the to-die-for cannolis I have written about from the original Spinelli's location) gelato and a whole selection of Gluten Free squares! It is hooked onto the Italian Centre Market south - so convenient to get your caffeine fix and grab groceries at the same time! As well, there are some of cute shops and ample parking. You might not know this place exists unless you frequent the Italian Bakeshop it's housed in. Off to the right of the main grocery store's doors, this quiet little cafe serves typical lite Italian fare: paninis, a huge selection of cakes, and different kinds of coffee. It's medium-sized, with about 10 or so tables and low lighting perfect for a casual date night. The fancy coffee drink I tried was pretty good, and the staff were very friendly. I normally wouldn't think of a grocery store as the hottest date spot, but I would recommend it for a casual coffee meet up. You can even get some shopping done on your way out! read more

I took some co-workers here for lunch because we were in the neighborhood and I couldn't stop raving about the paninos. I love that there is a wide variety of beverages available at all three of the cafe's. This one doesn't have the same vibe as the original, but it gets the job done. This is the place for lunch if you are in the neighborhood. They have a great selection of sandwiches and baked goods to satisfy just about anyone's appetite. The Espresso based beverages here are a wonderful thing. It is a great place to grab a coffee and a cannoli to take a break from shopping in the attached Italian Center. They always have paninos in mild and hot wrapped and ready to go. If you don't have time to sit and enjoy the atmosphere, I highly suggest one of these gems. I have never been able to eat a full one in one sitting. They have a great selection of meats on them and are phenomenal when heated. This place is BUSY! There might not be a lot of parking available in the lot, but there is usually some on the street if you get stuck for a place. read more

Their sandwiches are to die for. Of course it helps they are right next to the Italian centre. They offer salads and pizza which we didn't try but looked delicious too. The bakery counter is right next to them so they have a large offering of baked goods as well. They have a full coffee bar with Italian soda and other drinks. Delicious cappuccinos! The line up for lunch was long (for a reason), but worth the wait. If I lived closer I would stop here more often. read more

Sorry to be a nuisance. Thank you Monica for pointing out to me that the Italian Centre Shop has a "separate" name for the bar caffe'.... Therefore, the review I wrote is being reposted under its proper name vs. under the Italian Centre Shop. Sorry, but I still hope it's useful :-) It IS a caffe' bar? (can you call it that?...it is more a 'cafe' '--there is no bar at which you can stand and have a quick espresso). In any case, I went in today as I was on my way to take a friend to the airport to take a flight to return home from being with us for the New Year. I know that the "cafe' " typically has very good cappuccini so I thought it would be nice to have that AND perhaps a warm soup/sandwich and/or salad so she wouldn't have to buy at the airport. I do need to say that my friend cannot eat gluten, the STORE does carry items that are "gluten free" AND they have their ex-restaurant soon to become an "order and go" place RIGHT next door, so I would have thought (silly me, really) that this location would have expanded by a WEE bit their options for ordering food AND perhaps trained their staff behind the counter to understand the difference between "warming up" a croissant vs. SMASHING it in the panino maker to "warm it up". Yes folks, I was asked if I wanted the croissant I ordered "warmed up" and the young woman behind the counter took my "yes, please" to mean: "Yes, please, smash it in the panino maker since I would rather have a FLAT piece of buttery something instead of what it IS....a CROISSANT". To say the least, when I saw her turn around with it I told her I didn't want it AND though she offered me another, I didn't bother since there was nothing my friend could have AT ALL by that point. I did not mention that the cappuccino WAS GOOD (thank goodness), however, it WILL remain that kind of a place for me...to get an espresso or a cappuccino. read more

I usually stop here for my morning coffee and never been disappointed. They have their regular customers in the morning that I see every time I visit and they're usually sitting in groups chatting away, always a great sight. I love their chocolate croissant and biscotti's. The only thing is that they don't have milk on their coffee serve bar, but the staff has been helpful and gave me the milk carton or steamed milk(which I don't mind at all).
