Inside Ace and our order.

I don't know how they do it but ACE Coffee seems to have figured out how to make the best coffee in town. I've tried their coffee at Bountiful Farmer's Market and now here at ground zero. It's simply just right. Today I ordered a Macchiato which is kind of like an expresso for gentlemen (you can use that quote if you like it). Most of the seating is outside which seems odd for a city like Edmonton. There certainly is room for casual seating inside so possibly in the pre-pandemic world they did have inside seating. They also sell two or three types of baked goods, which mainly consists of donuts. If you are near the Avenue (east) or at Bountiful, I definitely recommend ACE Coffee . It's coffee for people who take their coffee seriously. It's seriously good.

Found this gem of a place on whyte ave today! Literally thought it was a grocery store from Outside but it's an actual very sleek brewing coffee shop! They roast the beans in house and the beans come from South America and Africa. They have various different blends and flavours for coffee. We got the light roast with chocolate notes in their drip coffee and espresso. I loved my light roast with the chocolate and my hubby who is really particular about his espresso enjoyed it as well. Defiantly a good place to check out and site out doors and enjoy!

Ace is another new spot to open up in the very up and coming area just east of Whyte. We were lured in by one of their posts advertising doughnuts on a lazy Friday afternoon. Hours are currently Friday to Sunday (8:00am to 4:00pm). I'm sure that will change soon. The inside is a coffee hipster haven. Great lighting, spacious and several areas to sit at (including benches outside). Everything looks great aesthetically but man oh man, the seats are hard as rock. Your tush will not be happy after. They've got lots of different merch on sale. Love their logo/design/branding. There's even an area, Caffe Tech, where you can peruse various types of espresso machines. You've got a few extra thousand lying around right? - Americano ($3.50) - Bree thought it was pretty solid. Price pretty reasonable too. - Six pack ($10.00) - normally, each donut is $2.50 but they had a half dozen special going on. We tried the brown butter, Nutella bombolone, lemon pistachio, chocolate, custard bombolone and strawberry bombolone. My favourite was the brown butter. Great texture and simple. Next fav was the chocolate. The bombolones were decent but needed more filling. We also couldn't taste much lemon or pistachio in the lemon pistachio. Cool spot to wile away an afternoon or even to get some work done. Perfect spot to drop by while you're near Whyte.

They've aced my coffee every time. Love going here. Love the industrial feel and all the plants.

Americano and doughnuts from ACE Coffee Roasters

We decided to visit ACE because we have been big fans of their coffee and Leva, their sister café, for a long time. And with over 25 years of experience in the coffee game, you've likely seen or tried ACE coffee over the years. The drink menu is your standard coffee shop menu - espressos, Americanos, cappuccinos etc. One unique menu item is the "French press for two", ideal for sharing on an afternoon date. They also have a cooler stocked with non-caffeinated beverages. They also have a cooler stocked with non-caffeinated beverages. In terms of food, the doughnuts are worth the visit alone. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. There are cake and yeast doughnuts for you to choose from, along with several flavors (I recommend the chocolate glaze). They also have croissants and other baked goods. Most of the baked goods are made at Leva. ACE is located just off of Whyte Ave. There is no private parking lot but street parking is available. They are currently open Friday to Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm. The space is trendy and inviting, with quite a bit of seating, so you shouldn't have a problem finding a table to sit. I highly recommend the chocolate glaze doughnut with an Americano - an ideal treat on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Pistachio cake donut!

Ace has been on my list forever! So I was so happy to finally check it out. First off, I love the location just behind the Ave. It makes it a bit more peaceful, but still super easy to access. The cafe itself has more of a warehouse meets forest vibe with its wooden stools and large industrial ceilings. They roast their beans on-site, so you can imagine that their coffee is superb. Plus, they have donuts. I tried the pistachio cake donut which was the perfect match with my cappuccino. Definitely will be making this a regular spot for a cafe!

I used to live in this area and often walked past this big white building wondering what kind of business was going to open up inside. Well, it's a freakin' cool coffee place! I enjoy the repurposed furniture and mix of different materials (marble, concrete, wood, metal). It's a neat concept...selling coffee equipment and accessories along with pumping out locally roasted, deliciously fresh coffee. Oh...and did I mention they have tasty donuts as well? I ordered a cappuccino (about $4) and a glazed chocolate donut ($2.50). YUM!! If you are ever in the area, definitely pop in for a caffeinated beverage.

When you walk in here, it doesn't feel like you're in Edmonton anymore. Super high ceilings, spacious cafe with giant windows. You're greeted by a beautiful display of their gorgeous donuts and a friendly barista. They have a half dozen donut special for $10 which is totally worth it. My faves were the brown butter, Nutella filled and custard filled. The donuts and fluffy and light. Drinks were also delicious. Got a cappuccino and I'm not usually a coffee drinker (they don't offer any non caffeinated drinks, which makes sense because they're a roaster) but it wasn't too bitter. Very creamy and enjoyable! Def will be back

Hours

New cafe off whyte! With lots of free street parking. My first impression when walking in- wow SO pretty! Very hipster and bright. As for seating, not my favorite as their seating is pretty sparse for the large space and not very comfy. But there are lots of benches outside, good for summer seating. Note the Hours are only fri, sat and Sunday. Also attached to the cafe, is their own roaster and little shop where they sell high end latte/coffee machines. They offer a few coffee options and donuts. Lattes are $5, donuts are $2.50 each. We tried the latte and glazed donut- nothing spectacular for both; donut was a bit small and nothing special for the price, probably will pass on it next time. Lattes were not bad, a medium roast. Overall, the highlight was the ambience, a very nice looking cafe! It is a very unique cafe worth checking out if you're around whyte.

Great coffee! Quick service! I love their beans for drip coffee. They also sell really good doughnuts from a local bakery.

I got a donut, which was fine but not devastating, and a cappuccino that was, my God it was excellent.

The coffee shop's location is on the second floor of the building (right next door to the restaurant Sugarbowl), and offers an awesome view of the North Saskatchewan river, downtown / Jasper Ave on one side, and the Garneau neighborhood on the other side. The place is filled with antique furniture, wooden floors, but also a touch of modern style as well. With the decor, the smell of coffee, along with the presence of coffee drinkers and enthusiasts, Kaffa is very inviting and a great place to drink coffee, eat and be with someone (or by oneself). Kaffa has its own coffee roasting machine on location - so I hope you can imagine the smell of coffee is very much present here at Kaffa!!! It's very nice. Kaffa, both a derivative and coffee region in Ethiopia, also sells their roasted coffee, and tea as well. Ethiopia, as well as a few Central American countries, provide beans for the roastery. Kaffa also offers art space for local artists, but music concerts as well. Anyone with questions or inquiries can contact Kaffa (their email address is on their website, kaffaroasterystudio.com).

Good thing there's good signage. I honestly would of never seen this place bc I meant to go to home depot but turned too early. I was lost but luckily I was enticed by this place!!! It was worth the impromptu visit. In the back. They have the option to smell the aromas of each of the beans they sell. This was a nice touch and reminds me of coffee plantation tours I've been on. Once inside I was greeted by a sweet nice man who gave me exceptional service. He started off with the most popular roasts...and with over 10 varieties I was overwhelmed. Luckily he took me to the back to smell the coffee beans each on their own. Pretty sweet deal to have beans freshly roasted the day of. The brew was outstanding and the aroma tantalizing on the way home. I'm so excited to try different blends. On this particular visit I had the Ethiopian and Brazilian blends bc they appealed to me the most. Definitely try this local roaster out!!!

That said there is lots of parking and good access overall so perhaps the location does work. I believe that they only sell fresh roasted coffee beans and two varieties of a coffee spread. I'm saving the coffee spread for Christmas gifts so I can't tell you if I like them, but I'm sure that I will. Pricing is very simple; everything is $10.00. Bags of coffee are $10.00 and a small jar of coffee spread is $10.00. That's it. To help me choose my coffee the lady took me into the roasting room where I could smell some big containers of the actual beans. I'm looking forward to trying these beans out. They sell several varieties of the coffee beans plus one house blend. Strangely I don't think that they sell brewed coffee, just the beans. So if you feel like cruising behind big box hardware stores keep your eyes open for NXT. It might have been what you were looking for in the first place.
