a cup of coffee on a counter
    George H.

I've been coming here almost weekly since I was introduced to this place through a Yelp Event. I spent 6 years living in Montreal and there is so much to love about that city. Montreal is famous for its steak spice, smoked meat, party scene, and bagels. Coffee Bureau imports those bagels weekly and serves them up or sells them in the half dozen. Of course shipping costs and profit margins raise the cost for the bagels significantly but that's the cost of doing business. Their coffee prices are more in line with the standard prices and they make a good espresso. They use a solid locally roasted bean with Ace Coffee Roasters and know how to extract the flavour. The staff are friendly and attentive yet do not rush the process to make a great drink for your morning or afternoon. They service the downtown crowd so they close at 3pm daily. Come down and order a coffee and a toasted bagel with cream cheese an you might end up coming back more often, just like me!

This place is very convenient to where I work (and just a block from Corona LRT station) so I feel like an idiot that I hadn't been there before this week, but since I don't drink coffee, I don't tend to go into coffee shops often. However! I did stop by this week and picked up a chai tea and a genuine imported Montreal bagel, and a croissant too. The place is super cute inside, very retro kitschy, but with room for all sorts of goodies you can take away too - bags of coffee beans and baked goods yes, but also some locally made greeting cards and other odds and ends. Outside there's plenty of sidewalk seating in nicer weather. The staff behind the counter were friendly and helpful and very nice to me although I openly admitted to not being a coffee drinker! Would definitely drop by again, maybe next time I'm craving a nice chewy bagel, maybe for some of their other baked goods which looked pretty epic.

It's just OK. I've been here twice. Each time I had a decaf Americano and a toasted bagel. Once with butter and this last time with cream cheese. The bagels are tasteless. Maybe frozen a while? The Americano is average. There is no wait time. They don't accept cash. No dine in. No washroom. I will probably go again because of the location. Maybe I'll try a different snack. There are a few to choose from. The muffins look good.

Went there for a coffee break from work. I like their decorations and plants around the shop. I would def be back to sit down, although there is not too many tables to sit at. The coffee itself was great; the price was good for a coffee shop down town. I would also try some of the treats or food they have. Lots of light because of the large window. I will be back for sure.

I had a great visit to Coffee Bureau! Delicious coffee, a bagel and pumpkin pie tart. They sell Montreal bagels (St-Viateur), which is great for those who like that style of bagel (they're my preference, for sure). I think the star was the pumpkin tart which seemed to have a whole wheat pastry crust. Staff were friendly and helpful, and it's a great little spot to grab a snack for those who work downtown.

This is probably my favourite coffee shop in town. I always get an Americano with a cranberry scone. The espresso here is just the right flavour for me, it is crisp and bright. The cranberry scone is lightly sweet and always fresh-baked. For me a scone is a good combination with a good coffee. So yep, if you are around downtown Edmonton, you should definitely swing by and grab a coffee!

I avoid chain coffee places if I can. I want good coffee, available in a cup that's not the size of a vase and not over $5. It's coffee! Walking down Jasper Ave I couldn't help notice the sandwich board with cute coffee slogan calling me in. They have lined up light blue chairs outside, and it looks like an image from Pinterest. I'm obsessed. The large front window shows the small coffee pit stop has just enough room inside for a line up by the coffee machine and a few chairs. The man and woman working both looked happy and made chit chat with out being in your face. It was made quickly and handed to me along with a 'have a nice day'. It's cute, it's inviting, it's got great coffee and lovely service. Win!

Coffee Bureau in Edmonton is a nice little coffee shop. Went there 2 times while I was just in Edmonton. The straight up black drip coffee was very good. I love local owned coffee shops so much better than these corporate ones. Well if your in Edmonton I can highly recommend this spot! Awesome coffee

Travelling through. Nice friendly people and chat with their regular patrons. Clean. I like my flat white a bit stronger but overall I would return.

I love this coffee place! I usually come here once a week on my way to work to grab an americano. This establishment is owned by a lovely couple. Anytime that I have stopped by, they have been most gracious and very personable. The space is smaller with limited seating but I think it works in this situation. I always feel like I am stopping in at a friend's or neighbor's place to have a little visit and get my coffee fix before going to work. The coffee is great. The baked goods that they serve are also delicious. And the service is wonderful. If you are looking for something unique in a coffee place, this is the place to go!

Edmonton's newest cafe, Coffee Bureau, is sure to be a hit in the downtown core. How do I know this? Because it was a cup that didn't make me reach for more sugar in a long time. Because it tasted delicious. If you're a coffee connoisseur or a simple latte drinker like me, read on! Coffee Bureau officially opened its doors yesterday morning, welcoming Edmontonians to take a break. It's located on Jasper Avenue and 105 St, commanding the space in the Jasper Dental Building (that's where my cousin practices!). Driving to the shop would be disastrous, it's main targeted consumer on-the-go from and to work and take out lunches. Being a recent resident of the downtown core has it's perks though, it's only a block away for me. Score. Tables and countertops have yet to be installed to complete the space but they are open, Monday to Friday 7am - 5pm and Saturdays, and ready to serve you some spectacular coffee and baked goods. Once they ease into things, they also hope to make some simple panini sandwiches for lunch. When I say "they" and I mean Kris and Peter, the cute couple behind the counter! Peter hopes to hire staff soon to keep up with the pace, deserving some time off of hard work I'm sure. Having worked for Leva and other cafés, including Toronto's Darkhorse, brewing coffee and its culture is not new to him. Coming here all the way from Brazil, the irony isn't lost that Kris, a dentist by trade, is now serving up the brew in a dental building no less and is always smiling! As coffee enthusiasts, a typical vacation or trip for Kris and Peter includes visits to 4 or 5 coffee shops at the least. In the last five years, a lot of coffee shops have been offering a more acidic coffee. Bored of this style, Coffee Bureau sought out ACE Coffee Roasters, owned by the folks who bring us Leva and Caffe Tech Canada. The local roasters offer something completely different: a smooth, well-balanced blend with beans originating from Columbia, Brazil, and Ethiopia. Coffee Bureau is the first to serve ACE Coffee, and the under-construction Alder Room, late 2015, also have plans to feature the blend. Joe and I loved our lattes from the soft opening over the long weekend, taking our drinks to the river valley to enjoy the sun. And while I'm no coffee expert (I hope to change that with YEG Coffee Week coming up!), I could tell that this cup was quite different from any of the roasts Edmonton has to offer. I always find myself reaching for sugar every time I order a latte that isn't from the sugar-laden Starbucks. This cup though, perfect. And definitely a good break. So if you're anywhere on the spectrum of "I don't drink coffee" to "I can tell you where the beans are from", check out Coffee Bureau! I look forward to the days when I run out of Nespresso capsules (happens more often than you think...) and grabbing a smooth-tasting latte!

Perfect day for an iced latte!

You know, downtown Yeggers are so lucky to have so many great coffee shops. You can't throw a stone without hitting one, and the Coffee Bureau is a very welcomed addition! I had to go twice before I could leave a review, because I'm so dedicated to a competitor, I wanted to make sure that doesn't overshadow my review! The lattes are very nice at Coffee Bureau. I'm not a coffee connoisseur and I don't pretend to be, but it was just a nice smooth flavour. It's just different than the other local shops I frequent. But I guess they are all unique. Coffee Bureau uses a locally roasted bean, from ACE. They have a nice selection of pastries, my fave being the chocolate cream cheese "muffin" (let's be honest, it's a cupcake with the icing on the inside). The place itself is beautiful. Seriously a gorgeously decorated place. I could just stare at the Douglas fir ceilings all morning! They have adorable little built in tables that are almost more of a side table, which is all you need for your cup of coffee. I also adore the window bar, which looks perfect for people watching. It is a tight space for sure, but it's right on Jasper Ave so it's perfectly convenient to grab a cup and venture around the area. Overall, I'm thrilled for the emerging coffee scene in downtown YEG.

    Awesome service, beautiful little cafe!

I heard about this place in an article online about the downtown trend of indie coffee places in Edmonton, and so I thought I would check it out that same afternoon for lunch. I grabbed a large regular coffee from the ridiculously nice barista, and then discovered that I had just found the best coffee I have tasted yet!! I LOVE it, and I will be back for more coffee and perhaps some of their baked goods too! It's a bit small, but Coffee Bureau is a cool little spot for coffee lovers in the downtown area! I just wish they had bigger cups, because I need more!!

They describe themselves as a temporary (stop gap) means to filling a need - coffee - served with an intentional and caring heart. Caleb Kam, the owner, is warm and inviting. He definitely knows his coffee. You may know him from his former life at Brown Butter Cafe. Caleb focuses on Canadian, fresh, and local! I spotted Ace and Candid today (Edmonton gems). The clientele were sweet and happy to offer up their faves! Nathan, a regular, told me Caleb is the go to for the best pour over in town. I opted for a Dirty Chai - made to perfection and my friend had a oat milk chai complete with milk art adorning the top. Both beverages were perfection. Coffee can be consumed in house complete with adorable coasters (el gato was my fave naturally, meow) or taken to go. For seating, there is a cute bench against the window front and a side room available if not booked. Caleb also had fresh donuts from Fuzion in Chinatown. My friend and I shared the cake and Cinnamon bun donut today. Sooo ridiculously good. Be sure to check Fuzion out online - they don't have a storefront so you will need to order in advance if you are looking to up your donut game at your next office meeting. I seriously can't wait to come back here again! Oh and they also have a beautiful meeting space available for rent on the main floor in case you want to bring your next staff meeting to the best coffee in town! Such a true pleasure meeting you today, Caleb! Stop Gap is exactly what YEG needs!

It came with Koobideh (Two skewers of Juicy ground beef kabab) , Chicken kabab Joojeh (Sineh) and grilled tomatoes. Served with 4 servings of saffron rice. It is made for 3-4 but we enjoy leftovers. Food was amazing! The rice was so fluffy! Appreciated all the raw sliced onions and the grilled tomatoes (however I could have used less char on them). They gave us two dips to try with pita bread - Zeytoon Parvardeh Brined olives mixed with crushed walnuts and rich pomegranate molasses, and Mast - o - Moosir - Creamy yogurt blended with shallots and garnished with dried mint. Both were so amazing and full of flavour. Our platter also came with pickled...I want to say cabbage which was so delicious with the meat. The meat itself was well cooked and full of favour. I preferred the beef to the chicken but both were delicious. I really wanted to try the saffron ice cream, which was a great end of the meal paired with some tea. The ice cream itself wasn't so sweet which I really appreciated. Our server was lovely and friendly and super helpful. It looses a star because it was cold - both in esthetics and in temperature.
