Service was self- service and spouse left a 20 percent tip to my annoyance. I hope it gets divided up in the kitchen and doesn't just become more owner profit. I found the prices high but the Bennys were good. There was lots of parking and most of the waiting was in line giving our order. There were plenty of tables. I found the ambiance a bit austere to my taste. Like McDonalds without the bright colours. It had gf bread which was $2.00 Extra. .the salad was fresh and tasty. The potatoes were perfect and tasty. It was a big meal and I ate it all. I might go back but I prefer the Highlevel diner because I get better service and better prices for equally good food.

I really like La Bosco. The cappuccino is made to my liking - quality beans and skilled barista. Served in real cups too! Tried the various croissants and danishes. Loved all of them but the apple danish is most memorable. The apple and custard with a hint of cinnamon just goes so well together. How La Bosco gives 30% discount to all first responders - fireman, police, ambulance - really impressed me. What a wonderful gesture to those that keep our families safe! Definitely my go-to "feel good" spot in Edmonton.

The café is really large inside.

I was looking for somewhere different for lunch and a friend suggested that we try Bosco Bakery and Café. It was not what I expected. Most places in the Old Strathcona area are small with very few tables. Bosco is huge! I mean it's really big. You won't have trouble finding a table and you're not going to be sitting right next to another table. That's nice. They seemed to have the sound under control too. Maybe it's how a building is finished off but some places are just incredibly loud. Bosco was just right. You can talk with your guests without yelling and they will be able to hear you. There is also a fairly large outside patio for when the weather is nice. The food is generally desserts and pastries but they do offer some healthy meals. I ordered the Korean sandwich (I forgot the actual name) which was $15.00. That's getting up there in price but it was a good sized sandwich with a side salad and it was very tasty. There were a few other choices for meal type foods, such as soup and other kinds of sandwiches, but not many. Now if you want pastries, cakes and all sorts of cool looking things that bakeries offer there are a lot of fine choices. That big glass counter is full of all sorts of amazing looking baked goods. Service was friendly but it was hard to understand the person at the counter. I think that it was because of the glass separting the person taking orders from customers. She made a mistake on my friend's order by forgetting his coffee. I found free parking easily. Bosco has their own parking area plus there is lots of street parking. I'm planning to return as the food was good as was the coffee and ambiance. Really what's not to like - except maybe the prices and the calories.

Very cute and aesthetically pleasing cafe, and very spacious as well. My friends and i came here for brunch to grab some pastries and drinks. I don't remember the exact name of the pastry I got but it was a savoury cheese sausage pastry and it was soo good! I also got an iced matcha latte and asked for it to be made a little sweeter since I didn't know how it is usually made and sometimes can be bitter. I enjoyed this little cafe spot and all their pastries looked so appetizing. All my friends enjoyed their pastries as well, would likely come back to try more!

Been here 3x. The coffees are all delicious and served quickly. Iced or hot. I had the berry turkey sandwich that comes with sure salad. Super. The inside can get a bit noisy from the echo, but the outside patio is chill. If you are ordering food, you go up to order and then you are given a buzzer to signal when it's ready. The staff have always been nice and professional. It can get busy in there. The dessert case is beautiful. I have recommended this place to many who also enjoy it. Free parking on the side or on ave. Would be nice grounds to have private party and take photos.

I've been to La Bosco 3 times because I love the atmosphere. Although this cafe is by whyte ave the space is HUGE. They have indoor and outdoor seating. As well as parking on the side and to the back of the building. Such a rare find in this area of the city! I'm not a huge fan of their coffee but I do enjoy their matcha lattes. One item that I keep ordering is their ham and cheese croissant. It is HUGE and stuffed with a good amount of ham, cheese and cooked onions. It's a meal in itself. Great cafe by whyte ave to meet up with friends. I'm looking forward to trying their cakes in the future!

La Bosco is a Korean/French inspired Cafe and Bakery. The inside is very aesthetic for pictures and there is an outside patio available as well beside artsy murals. It has been the craze lately since it just opened a few weeks ago. It's currently really busy and I would suggest to go at a non-peak hour time to be able to snag a spot to sit. Keep in mind they maybe sold out of some Bakery items if you go at night. I've been there twice. Once around 6pm on a Wednesday and 10:30am on a Saturday. Parking is not abundant but I was able to find a spot because I came at a non-peak time. I've tried the following foods: -Corn Bean Soup: super delicious and comes with a puff pastry on top -Clam Chowder: taste exactly the same as corn bean soup except it has clams. Still super delicious but disappointed it tasted the same as the other soup -Orange Mango Waffle: very fruity and pretty for pictures. Was not wowed by it but it's not bad -Green Tea Apple Waffle: I liked this better than the mango orange Waffle and I quite enjoyed it. The matcha icecream wasn't very authentic -Cheese Souffle Cake: I tried this twice. The first time was super yummy. The second time it was a bit too sweet. La Bosco may have some consistency issues but hopefully it will improve overtime -Espresso Chiffon Cake: Not too sweet and has lots of cream. It was okay -Strawberry Danish: I really enjoyed this Danish. Crispy and refreshing Some of the food is a bit pricey. There are items I really enjoyed and some not so much . It's still a cute cafe to go to in Edmonton. I wouldn't mind coming back since I liked the atmosphere.

I took my son here for a mommy and son time. I was pleasantly surprised how big the cafe is! For a cafe, it's HUGE and aesthetically pleasing. Being that it's near Whyte Ave, there was plenty of parking which you don't get around this area. We went on a Sunday morning right when they opened. Maybe because they just opened up, they didn't have much variety. But we were still able to pick out something. My son had the kids hot chocolate and he said it's the best he's ever had! We shared the chicken and waffles, and surprisingly it was really tasty! It came with a side salad, which was a nice balance. The reason for the 4 stars, I wanted to order a sandwich to go for my husband but their kitchen was already closed or down for the day. I was surprised because we had ordered food earlier. Instead we got a couple of danishes to go. I'll tell ya tho, the danishes was really good! My son wants to go back and bring his sister along next time. :)

The cafe is really cute and has lots of seating. The drinks were really cute too, I personally got Dalgona but it was kind of hard to drink since the Dalgona was overflowing and I was making a mess stirring it :') the food itself was pretty good and filling, but it is pretty pricy. The fries were really good. We didn't try any pastries this time, but I'd come back again!

Because of Covid they don't have dine in but they do have takeout! They are doing a 10% off promo during the lockdown on pastries and cakes. The cakes are super moist and all around $5. My favourite cake is the earl grey lavender cake. It's so moist, not too sweet and so fragrant! Before the lockdown I dined in the restaurant and tried the octopus chowder and it was sooo flaky and full of flavour! I got a couple nice chunks of octopus and vegetables! Would definitely recommend you try!

It opened up a few weeks ago so a few friends and I decided to check them out. Went in the early afternoon around 2:00 p.m. Parking is difficult to find right in front of the building itself so we had to drive back around,  park across the way near No Frills, and walk through the small alleyway to get to La Bosco. Might be harder to find more parking the later on the day as you go. Inside was very spacious, clean, and inviting. There were several sanitization stations with sanitizer pumps and wipes, all neatly displayed and in easy to access places. The seating were decently spaced apart for social distancing practices. My friends and I were given those light up devices that let you know when to go back to the front to pick up our orders, but they also call out your name just in case since the buttons don't make a sound. Staff was super friendly, welcoming, and quick to attend anyone waiting at the door. They're also very prompt in cleaning and sanitizing the tables once a group finishes. Sitting time is about 90 minutes, which is a generous amount of time per person/group. This is so that you can give other people a chance to sit at the tables inside. There was three of us that came, and since we ordered a few of the same dishes and drinks, I'll be reviewing those. Iced Vanilla Latte: decent. Ordered a medium and got a fair cup size. A bit weak in the flavour, especially since the ice takes up a nice chunk of the cup space, so once it starts melting the flavour gets watered down. Very Berry Turkey Sandwich: made from their La Bosco Classic Bread. Loved how generous the portion of turkey meat was in the sandwhich, and it comes with a side of Alberta Garden Mix salad. The berry compote in the sandwhich was unfortunately less sweet (a bit in the tart side) than what I was expecting. The bread was soft on the inside, but the more tougher outside made cutting into it with a knife and fork a bit more difficult. It's better to eat it with your hands; napkins and wipes easily available at the counter and the sanitization areas. The salad has your choice of either Truffle Balsamic or Lemon oil dressing. I chose the Truffle Balsamic for mine. Unfortunately, I could barely taste any of the dressing, which was disappointing, and the frisée in the salad, (while a fave salad green of mine) overpowered any dressing that was present. Couldn't finish the salad because of it. For dessert I ordered a slice of their Strawberry Shortcake and one Almond Croissant. The cake itself could use a bit more sweetness, as did the crème fraîche in the middle and the top of the cake. Because of this, the strawberries' tartness was more pronounced. Almond croissant was decently sweet. The frangipane in the inside is kind of underbaked though, and was runnier than other almond croissants. The frangipane baked on top was nice and crisp though. They have great potential, lovely decor, and the staff was wonderful, which is why I'm disappointed about the food. Since they're still fairly new, I'm willing to give them the benefit of a doubt and visit them again in a few more months to see if they implement any changes, and will update my review accordingly.

I had a couple people recommend this to me, but when I walked in, I was blown away by the ambiance. The plants in the middle and the cute furniture with the concrete walls-an absolute vibe. There's tons of seating, and I love to go here if I have work to do on my computer. They use Roasti coffee, which is delicious, and I'm a huge fan of the pastries.

very nice place I like. When I walked in, I did not expect the place to be this huge, and massive especially for a cafe. It gives farmers market vibes but a boujee expensive fancy one. The best part of this cafe is the aesthetics, the food was comforting however interesting and alot of options. We got a baguette with bacon & butter, French onion soup, earl grey cake and log roll. The cakes were very nice and not every sweet, and the earl grey was noticeable in flavor. The baguette was interesting too, I liked how huge it was, and I notice it tasted both sweet and salty which is the interesting part. The French onion was also interesting since they used a takeout paper bowl to make the soup in but yea. Anyways, in conclusion come here when you need to discuss business matters with your rich entrepreneur friends.

Also, it gives highlight to an delicious food scene, which otherwise can be overlooked because of the area of town that Chinatown is located in. I really believe in the area, and even if it is not Chinatown Dining Week, I still go there often because the food is amazing (at numerous places on 96th street), and the families who have food establishments are really friendly, and care about they do. The staff here are friendly and care about what they do, (as all of the other locations on the street), but english is not their first language, so be patient! The women here running the bakery were fantastic, but we needed to do some charades to get what we wanted. Our fruit cocktail cake was only 20 bucks (for downtown dining week, it is slightly higher regularly), which is cheaper than many Costco cakes. It was so delicious. Light and fluffy, full of fruit and delectable whipped cream. I am not a super sweet fan, but I had three pieces of cake the first night. So lovely. They also have a tonne of other baked goods that are worth checking out. You should. Check out Chinatown. Check out the food. And check out the people that are in this resilient community.

I don't think I have had something here that I didn't think was ok to good. My issue the last time was that they add the prices in their head and didn't issue a receipt. They usually use a calculator but I don't recall if they ever give a receipt from the til. This time they didn't use and charged almost $30 for baked goods, which I think was a few dollars off. My suggestion is if you go, add up the items beforehand or ask for a receipt to ensure the price charged is what it should be.

It's the first time I went there, as we usually go somewhere else like Hotel Macdonald, and I can tell you right off the bat that the one offered by The Art of Cake is much MUCH better! Their shabby chic decor is absolutely adorable and tasteful! The tables were decently spaced and lighting warm and bright. The staff were also super sweet when chatting and checking in on us during the course of our tea party. The menu was mouthwatering. Other tea parties, while sticking to bite sized portions, also stuck with scant fillings/toppings and little variety that always left me feeling like I should go for a burger run after. The Art of Cake's was not only as generous as they can be with the fillings in the bite sized portions, they were also varied and left my palette (and stomach) leaving well satisfied. Their plating and food presentation was fantastic and pleasing to the eye. It left me feeling reluctant to bite into some of the pieces because they were too cute and perfect! I didn't quite know what to expect walking in, if it was more of a takeout bakery style or a sit down and enjoy sandwich and chicken eatery? Well, we got to try it out and 100% more of a take out shop than anything else. Similar setup to Handy with breads and desserts displayed on the center glass counter display with a few shelves on the side acting as a mini market, the backboard had a few food food items but nothing special. The space is roomier with plenty of seating, but with a feeling of more of a concrete room as opposed to being more welcoming as Handy. We left with a few Portuguese tarts and they were cold? She didn't offer to warm them up or anything either, so my cold tarts were pretty disappointing. Though the filling did taste really good. Popular Bakery is many things - including living up to its name. It is a bakery, grocery store,…read moresandwich shop, cafe, and hang out, all in one. Located on Alberta Avenue, Popular Bakery fits well into the multicultural atmosphere of the area as a Portuguese bakery and restaurant. One of the few places where one can sit with a cup of coffee and enjoy conversation with friends (except when community coffeehouse The Carrot is open), Portuguese Bakery sells fresh baked goods, sandwiches made to order, and a few hot entree items such as Portuguese flame-grilled chicken and pork. A cooler contains a variety of beverages, both domestic and imported from Portugal, and there are a few short aisles of groceries, again, mostly Portuguese. Despite being large and spacious, tables are precious few. I can imagine this place getting very full at lunch time, and doing a mostly take-out business. I was there around four in the afternoon, and the tables were around half full, mostly with older Portuguese men and women sitting around enjoying coffee and pastries, speaking in their mother tongue. My server was Portuguese, and I really felt like I had stepped into another culture - which is exactly what I want when I am visiting an ethnic establishment. I ordered a quarter chicken meal with french fries (my other choice was rice) and a salad (which comes with the meal). I was asked if I wanted my food served regular or spicy and I opted for regular. My food was brought out to me a few minutes later, and consisted of a large plate almost overflowing with chicken, fries, and salad. The salad was a mix of vegetables in a light, almost Italian style vinagrette with a bit of a salty kick to it. The fries were average, but crispy. I thought perhaps they might make their own here, but I was wrong. The chicken, however, was the star of the show. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, the meat was infused with a tangy season mix in oil, accented with salt and garlic. The grilled flavour of the chicken came through as well. Instead of giving me an entire dark or white quarter, I had a wing, a chunk of thigh, and two chunks of white meat. I enjoyed the variety, and it also made the meal easier to eat. For dessert, I decided to try one of the many tempting treats in the bakery's showcase. An egg tart is a standard Portuguese favourite of mine and they were here, but looked rather burned. Some of the other items, such as danishes, eclairs, and other pastries looked delicious, but a bit too much to follow the meal I had. I opted for what looked like a smaller dessert - a slice of caramel pudding. As soon as my server handed me the plate, I thought my arm would drop. It was heavy for such a small slice! I also had a cup of coffee to accompany my dessert and keep me occupied as I finished reading a book. The pudding reminded me of the filling of an egg tart, very firm in texture. The caramel part was probably the light syrup at the bottom of the slice, which tasted more like a lightly burned sugar than caramel. It was good, though, and it took me a while to fork my way through it. The big disappointment of the afternoon was the coffee. It was very, very average. However, it was also inexpensive. The price for a meal is in the $7-$10 range. The sandwiches are on fresh bread or rolls and include a variety of meats. There is also soup. I plan to come here again to have more chicken and try the rice. Portuguese Bakery closes daily at 6:00 p.m. and is closed on Sundays.
