NUTTEA Canada - Edmonton, AB (corner of Gateway and Whyte Avenue) Back in May, we were walking along the very charming Whyte Avenue and came across some cool artwork at the Old Strathcona Public Washroom (you can see the artwork by clicking on the following link == https://urbanedmonton.ca/.../old-strathcona-public-washroom/ ) . This washroom sits at the southern terminus of the High Level Bridge Street Car ( https://www.edmontonstreetcars.ca/highlevelbridge ) which sadly for us, wasn't going to be in seasonal operation for another couple of weeks yet (May through October). It was upon heading back to our car on Whyte Avenue that out of the corner of my eye I noticed this intriguing stairway leading to some type of shop, hmmm , must explore! Adding even further to the intrigue was the sign .. "Nuttea Nut Mylk Tea". What is this? What could it be? Something vegan, dare I wonder Well, wondered I dared, and I'm glad that I'm the wondering daring type because, ... here we are Turns out this charming little shop has a variety of mylks and teas, the mylks in a wonderful variety of flavors such as Jasmine Green Nut Mylk Tea, Mango Nut Mylk, Avocado Nut Mylk, Matcha with Nut Cream, and a large assortment of other delicious sounding flavors, everything 100% vegan using a variety of 5 different nuts, macadamia, hazelnut, walnut, almond, and cashews. We opted for the Black Sesame Nut Mylk (on the right) and the Earl Grey with Chocolate Nut Cream (on the left). Both were smooth, delicious with a uniquely satisfying and gratifying flavor! If you're in the area, definitely stop by and check them out, with soooo many flavors combinations, you're bound to find something to satisfy your taste buds. read more

I found out about Nuttea from an event a while ago. Although the store is hidden in the basement, the place was vibrant when I was there. In terms of tea, their focus is on using nut ingredients, which seems to be healthier than some other bubble tea places. Two signatures they have are Nut Mylk and Nut Cream. The Nut Mylk is a blend of Cashew, Walnut, and Macadamia and the Nut Cream is Cashew, Walnut, Macadamia, Hazelnut, Almond (pieces). I tried their Strawberry Nut Mylk. It was good and felt healthy. Their prices are a bit higher but it makes sense given the ingredients they use, so I'd give them 8/10 read more

There's a new vegan bubble tea place on Whyte Ave! I went on it's Grand Opening day and was wowed by their drinks. I came again the next day to try more. Their drinks are vegan and dairy free. They use various nuts to make their drinks and it's a great healthy option compared to normal bubble teas. It's located in a basement beside Leopold's Tavern and might be easy to miss if you're not looking for it. For drinks I've tried: -Strawberry Tea with Strawberry Nut Cream $8: this drink was amazing. The nut cream was heavenly. It has like a slight Nutella flavour and was soft and creamy. The strawberry drink had real strawberries blended in and paired well with the nut cream. This is my favourite drink at this place so far -Matcha Nut Myllk Tea $8: This came in a paper cup even though it was a cold drink. The matcha is authentic and not the overly sweetened matcha you get a other places. You can taste the nutty flavour in the matcha which was nice. The price for this drink is a bit pricey for what you get -Earl Grey with Chocolate Nut Cream $7: If you're a chocolate lover, def get this drink! Chocolate nut cream was delicious and complement the Earl grey tea. The drink was very refreshing and I highly enjoyed it -Green Grape Tea with Nut Cream $7.5: Loved this drink as well. They blended real green grapes and the nut cream paired so well! -Pineapple Tea with Nut Cream with brown sugar jelly $7.5: This was a refreshing drink but I don't think they used real pineapples with this one. Maybe pineapple juice/syrup. The brown sugar jelly was dominant in the flavour. Still a pretty good drink. The drinks with nut cream all come with a little spoon to eat the cream with. You can also blend the cream in with your straw. Prices are slightly on the higher end but the drinks here are so good. Definitely recommend trying this place out! read more

Heard little whispers of this place from local foodies and finally had the opportunity to try them out for myself! Like others have mentioned, it was a little hard to spot as they're tucked away in a basement, but once you're in the area, you'll start to see cute signs leading you to their direction. They're located on Whyte Ave so of course, parking is a nightmare but well worth it. I came here two weekends in a row because I was blown away by their drinks the first time we visited. Both times, the service was so friendly, patient, and helpful - they are very good about answering your questions and providing recommendations. Seating is mostly bar-style; there are a few benches, but moreso meant for those waiting for their drinks. The aesthetics here are simply adorable, with a few fake plants and decorative art on a brick wall. On our first visit, we ordered the Strawberry Tea with Nut Cream and Grape Tea with Nut Cream, along with two seasonal drinks: Yuzu Mango with Nut Cream and Red Bean Nut Mylk with Nut Cream. I loved that they have a variety of unique, seasonal drinks on top of their usual menu. They also allow adjustments to sugar and ice levels, so we all opted for 50% sugar and regular ice. Their base must not have a lot of sugar to begin with as I found that there wasn't much sweetness with 50% sugar. This was perfect for me when mixed with their Nut Cream, but others may find it's not sweet enough. I had the chance to try all the drinks, and really enjoyed all of them! The Yuzu Mango was the most refreshing of them all, but the Grape Tea was the most unique, and I can see why that's one of their featured drinks. On our second visit, we tried the Hojicha Nut Mylk Tea with Hojicha Nut Cream and the Pineapple Tea with Nut Cream. As a lover of Japanese teas, I really enjoyed the Hojicha Tea but my partner claimed is tastes like 'dirty water' haha. I honestly prefer the Hojicha Nut Cream to the regular version - I find it offers a gentle hint of the tea aroma, and will likely opt for this on all my orders going forward. The Pineapple Tea had a nice tropical punch, and it paired perfectly with the Nut Cream - I think this was my favourite combination so far! I've been recommending this place to everyone, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit! read more

Second time here since I enjoyed my drink soooo much last visit. Took my boyfriend here at 9PM on a Friday night and he loved the entrance (down some random side stairs). I tried one of their fan favorites Black Grape tea with nut cream. Boyfriend got overwhelmed by the choices and got the Green Grape tea with nut cream. Fairly similar in taste. I really liked the strawberry tea with nut cream more but this had a very nice light taste. Nut cream was 12/10 I wish I could buy a bucketful good. Boyfriend gave this a 12/10 too and can't wait to come back. I HIGHLY recommend this drink to anyone who will listen! read more

The nut cream is thick & tasty! You won't notice it's vegan. Plus, a very Instagram worthy location. Gluten free options were basically unlimited. I'll have to go back another time because they were so busy opening week that they were short on ingredients in the evening. The strawberry nut cream is next on my list! Update: I went back and the strawberry nut cream was totally worth it!! Highly recommend any drink with that in it. read more

Nuttea doesn't just have bubble tea - there is also a variety of teas and coffee using nut mylk, as well as drink confections loaded with nut mylk cream. I went for a jasmine tea, which is a flavour I enjoy, and the nut mylk really complemented the flavour. The sizes are not huge and prices are on the expensive side, but the drinks are great and unique. read more

I came here on a whim while I was shopping down whyte with a friend. We were both thirsty and googled "bubble tea". Turns out this was the closest to us so we went over. I had never heard of the place before. Everything is plant/nut based so if you have nut allergies, this place is not for you. They even warn you prior to taking your order. This is a spin on bubble tea. I ordered the peach tea with nut cream. The cream was actually good. It was the same consistency as whipped cream. They give you a spoon in case you want the option if scooping it up or you can stir it into your drink. The liquid part is underneath. My drink was really good, however, I strongly dislike hazelnuts and didn't realize that they sprinkled it on top of the drink. I wish they asked you for a preference first. The drink was kind of expensive coming in at almost $9. Nevertheless it was nice to try something new. read more

After exploring the farmers market wanted to grab a drink before hitting the road so we stopped by nut tea. We ordered two drinks, a fruit tea and a milk tea. We decided to do less sugar and I don't recommend doing that. As less sugar, means no sugar. The staff members were really nice, and very interested in sharing the tea drinks with us there on assortment of drinks which was interesting as I've never seen a restaurant archery place like this before. I recommend giving a try if you're into milk alternatives, but unfortunately for me my tea did not taste that great. That being said the tea area was aesthetically cute, and had some sitting as well as a bathroom downstairs so that was nice. read more

After my second visit to Nuttea, I can happily say this is now one of my favourite tea places in Edmonton. Nuttea is tucked in a basement beneath the old Strat hotel. The space itself is cute and cozy. I could definitely see a student grabbing a tea and studying down there. I love how they kept the exposed brick and hung articles about the building's history. Fun fact: the space Nuttea now occupies was rediscovered during the recent renovations after being boarded up for decades. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. We were visiting around 10pm so they immediately asked if we preferred caffeine-free drinks and directed us to the correct part of the menu. I ordered my Lime Mylk Tea half sweet and they made sure to let me know it would be sour which is what I was looking for but I appreciate them asking. My husband went for one of their nut cream treats which are decadent and delicious. They serve it with a wooden spoon and it almost feels more like a fancy dessert than a drink. They're a bit on the pricier side but given the cost of nuts and the fact that everything is made in house, I can see why. Definitely worth the splurge if you are craving bubble tea and of course highly recommended to any vegan Yelpers. read more
