I have never had Tea Bar. I always order the same thing from every bubble tea joint as long as they have it.... honeydew bubble milk tea. Honestly candy in a cup. I passed by this morning, and they recently have Hong Kong style breakfast! Cool! They serve breakfast from 8-11:30 on weekdays (except Tuesdays) 9-12 on weekends. We have tried their Satay beef vermicelli in soup, pork and preserved cabbage vermicelli in soup and Ham and macaroni in soup. They were so yummy and the toasts were so crispy. I visited this place today as part of the Yeg Food Crawl event for the McCauley Revitalization efforts... and well to be frank until today I didn't even know that this place existed, so I think the Food Crawl event succeeded at introducing me to some new places. It's hard to rate this place in that I didn't order my usual favourite bubble tea concoction, but I will say that the taro bubble milk tea that I had was on par with every other taro bubble milk tea with tapioca I've ever had. It was quite good! I kind of wonder how they'll do with other flavours. It's always nice to discover another bubble tea place so that's always good. I like the handprints on the walls and the lighting coming in the windows in this little cafe. With the whole crowd from the food crawl inside the business it got a bit crowded but I liked all the seating options. The stool I sat on was actually quite comfortable. read more

It's a trendy little cafe off of 97 Street and come evening, you will probably be listening to the locals croon some sweet sweet mandarin/cantonese karaoke. Don't be intimidated because it's still a friendly place to bring friends to sit, talk, laugh, and enjoy some unique bubble tea flavors. There's always Chinese magazines like fashion and import tuner cars on the magazine rack so feel free to grab one and pretend to read like me because I can't read Chinese. Maybe you'll see a nice hair cut on a famous Chinese actor or have some inspiration from trends across the ocean. I don't have a recommendation in terms of flavors because every time I come here, I tell the good man that I'll have the "Surprise". Yes, I'm the type that asks for "Do whatever you think looks good" when I get my hair cut and I still do the same for my bubble tea here at Tea Bar. To my satisfaction, he never disappoints as he always comes up with the craziest flavors. It honestly is a party in my mouth, and I will most likely invite you because it's that good. My ONLY gripe is when you get to the end of your drink, you're going to experience what I fondly refer to as "B&D". Black and Decker. The guy's gotta get a new blender because there's quite a bit of ice chunks down there. If you want to experience a little bit of Asian culture, try their pastries as it will probably be one of the few places open late night that sells Hong Kong/Taiwanese style pastries. I love how the atmosphere is very comfortable, and enjoyable. For a place that serves bubble tea, they also serve very healthy fruit drinks made on the spot. They also have those egg muffins which are my favorite. At night they turn into a semi karaoke bar, and it's very relaxing and fun. Great for small groups for our ages. read more

Gotta say I'm mega-surprised that Tea Bar got such high ratings. Just stopped by this evening and was pretty disappointed. I don't know what happened, but it seems to have lost its touch! My avocado milkshake was a lot more crushed ice and milk than avocado. If I closed my eyes and concentrated really hard, I might have tasted a bit of the avocado. You shouldn't have to work that hard to enjoy your food though, especially if it's bubbletea! My bf ordered the Hong Kong style coffee, which arrived rather warm and tepid than hot. The cafe seemed dark and dingy as well, kinda ghetto ... and the windows are all covered by a black covering (garbage bags?), so the entire place is not very welcoming overall. The ambiance has just gone downhill. And it's not like the bubbletea here is much cheaper than other places in town; you can get quality or at least pretty decent bubbletea elsewhere in the city for about the same price. Sorry, Tea Bar, but please step it up a notch - or a few - soon! read more

Hmmmm...there's a lot of variety going on in this shop. When I walk in I can see myself at different angles in the mirrors on the wall. It's interesting looking at myself in such a position. The store is crowded with wall decorations and little post ups here and there. The chairs and table look scattered and mismatched. There's a lot of surround sound in this joint. So when it comes to the drink menu, there's variation of all kinds of "Asian" drinks. They even have a drink that surprises you when you order it! There is food here such as eggies, chicken wings and instant noodle soups. The quality of food is so-so.... I'm not a fan of the bubble tea here because it doesn't have a consistency of good tasting texture and mix. i came here to meet some friends in the evening because they all decided to gather around the couch at Tea Bar to sing Kararoke on Friday late. They have English and Chinese songs, which ever works for you, You can sit in the front where there is more light and you can see each others face or you can sit in the back where it's dark and mysterious, Alcohol is served here and the owners are nice. What's that you say! The drink maker will make a WHATEVER? WHAT IS THAT? This lil tea house is very retro and very narrow. You would think there is now where to sit, but there are more chairs in the back. Why I rave about this place...cuz i can't stop raving...can't stop raving... is this WHATEVER drink. The drink maker creates a concoction mixing different flavours with drifferent additives to create this great party in your mouth. From each time I have went, something different was always made and each time it was greatly enjoyed. Staff is always friendly. They have great food. My fave bbt there is the lime peach slush. The only bad thing is that they dont take debit but they have an atm! They also have karaoke there! And theyre open late which is great. They take cash and credit though! read more
