The roasted milk tea here has a pleasant smoky aroma that sets it apart . It's strong enough to taste the tea but still smooth overall. The pearls had great texture and didn't stick together. The cup was filled generously. The staff worked quickly and efficiently. I appreciate the consistency of their drinks because it makes it easy to return without hesitation. It's safe to say that Coco is my favorite bubble tea in Edmonton currently. I've been here many times and this place always satisfys my bubble tea cravings! I use to not be a fan of bubble tea because it use to be all powdery stuff and limited teas in Edmonton. That all changed when Cocos came to Edmonton. My favorite drinks from here: -Bubble Gaga -Sago Taro Milk Tea -Strawberry Black Tea -Wintermelon Juice -Roasted Milk Tea -Brown Sugar Milk Tea I usually get 50% sugar and less ice if possible. Too much sugar makes it too sweet and less ice gives you more value for your money. However if you're someone who likes tea, you can get 0% sugar and can enjoy a strong tea flavour in your drinks. Many of the drinks come in hot form so you definitely can still come here during winter if you're not feeling a cold drink! read more

Good milk tea. Not to sweet. The pearls maybe slightly hard me for but the flavor is good. It was hard to understand the workers with their mask on and being behind a glass. I had to have her repeat herself a few times and I still couldn't understand her completely. Also there was a lot of nose in the background so it made it even harder to hear her. I started coming to CoCo because it was in a convenient location but I kept coming back because they make great bubble tea. CoCo has a wide-variety of options to suit your mood. All of their milk teas are non-dairy so no paying extra if you prefer soy. You have options to customize the level of sweetness as well as the amount of ice in your drink. They also offer two sizes which is great because I often find I am unable to finish a large. My personal favourite flavour is the lemon green tea. It is perfectly refreshing for a hot day. They also do a great job with their trendy brown sugar milk tea. Due to COVID-19, they currently do not have any chairs to eat-in, only 5 customers are allowed in at a time (I've never seen more than 2, including myself), and you are encouraged to follow clearly marked arrows on the floor. read more

While visiting in Edmonton, we were lost, my friends found this boba place. What was I thinking saying no to boba!? Brown sugar boba at that! Well luckily, they still got me a small brown sugar boba. FYI: they're not able to make it without boba, in case you're thinking about cutting some calories.. This is in my top 3 of brown sugar boba! So it's really nice to find an authentic Taiwanese Bubble Tea place in Edmonton. It's not often what I'm expecting out of North American Bubble Tea places, instead it's often better! I adore the fact that I can get my bubble tea with 0%, 30%, 50%, 75%, or 100% sugar, and with everything from extra ice to no ice (I prefer 50% sweet and no ice!) and the fact that they actually ask you what you're looking for as I often forget this when I order from other bubble tea locations and as a result get tea that is too sweet. This place is always busy, but the lines are not too big, and the beverages are good! It reminds me of the very first time I had bubble tea, in Taiwan in 2001. This is what bubble tea ought to be! I love the fact that the wet floor sign is shaped like a banana, and this location is pretty clean and nice inside (even though there's a lot of construction outside right now). To critique the place, the grammar errors (due in part to translation issues) and spelling errors (suger is not how you spell sugar) are a bit off putting in the Edmonton environment. I've pretty much always spilled some of the bubble tea when puncturing the lids with my straws. And I find the menu options a bit confusing outside of the standard basic bubble tea. I also find the caffeine levels rather high in the standard option and so need to remember not to visit this place too late in the day. read more

Well I'll be, there's finally some good bubble tea in town and right in line with Alberta's love for chains and franchises, it's the world's largest bubble tea chain: CoCo's. It must be true because when I was in NYC, I passed three without even looking for them. Now if you know anything about me, you'll know I am not a big fan of chains but when it comes to bubble tea, any type of competition is a good thing. I've been multiple times and can safely say this place is top notch. You no longer have to go to Dream Tea to get your fix (praise da lord). This place was slammed with Asians the first few times that I went. The line literally went out the door which I've never seen in an Edmonton place before. Actually, every time that I've been, it's been 98% Asian. Another odd fact - this place has a lot of resemblance to Chatime. If you've been to both, you'll know what I mean. There's lots of space to sit (check out the back for a couple tables) and there's even two ways to enter. Order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. Fast, efficient, they know exactly what they're doing here. Coco's top 10 drinks. Don't think you can wrong with any of them. Here's the full menu: milk tea, fresh tea, fruit tea, yakult, chocolate, slush/smoothie, fresh milk and salty cream. Too many choices. You can customize how much ice and sugar that you want in your drink. Seems like 50% ice and 50-70% sugar has worked the best for me with my drink orders so far. You can also order your drinks hot or cold (didn't know the former until a friend did this). - 3 Guys ($6.25 large) - milk tea with grass jelly, pudding, and tapioca. You can their tapioca is fresh and has nice chewy, slightly sweet texture to it. Add in pudding and grassy jelly, you can't really go wrong. There's a reason why it's on their top 10 list. Get it. - Hot milk tea and matcha milk tea ($5.10) - M wanted something to warm her up so she ordered a hot milk tea. I can't remember which one exactly but it hit the spot. I went with the matcha milk tea which pleasantly surprised me, as you could really taste the matcha flavour. Next time I'll try the matcha with red bean! Okay, either, I lost my photos of the teas I bought from Coco Fresh, or they changed the design of the cups. I know we went to Coco Fresh twice during our Edmonton holiday. But, for some reason, the photos with the Coco Fresh cups are missing. Since all boba tea drinks look the same to me, all I got is this one random photo of a tea that I drank during the time period I was up there. This Coco Fresh is located in a business area of Edmonton away from downtown. Parking was scarce. There is street parking if you are lucky, and there is a lot behind the building. My wife was impressed that they had Yakult based drinks. We liked their 3 guys drink which had boba, grass jelly and pudding in it. Service was okay. I remember changing my order a time or two without the employees giving me attitude. The tea was good. We liked it...not enough to keep their photo. This is only the second bubble tea I've ever had! As a novice, CoCo made it super easy for me to choose. I went for classic bubble tea. Milk tea with those yummy squishy balls. They have three basics to choose from for classic milk tea, 'bubble Tea', 'two ladies' or 'three guys'. The first has one type of tapioca balls. The second has two and the third (you guessed it) has three. I was needing a caffeine hit and this definitely hit the spot. That place seems to always be busy and the staff are really lovely and helpful. If you are parked in the alley behind there is a door the back (near the loos) to get in and out, without having to walk alllllll the way down the street. Handy! read more

Came here for the first time and got the strawberry slush, it was really delicious! It is extremely hot inside and the wait for a beverage is a little on the long side.. approx 5 mins. My drink cost $6.89. Pricey, but it's not something you get everyday, more like a treat. There are lower priced options, but if you want slush, it's about this price plus any additional add ins. The world's largest bubble tea chain has arrived in Edmonton! CoCo originated from Taiwan and opened in Edmonton last week. They're currently having an ongoing soft opening at the moment which means that only their top 10 drinks and milk tea selection are available. Their full menu should be ready by next week for their grand opening. The bubble tea franchise has opened up downtown in the Capital Centre Building, where The Pint and (soon to be) Hudson's are located. The place itself is a little small and it can get super crowded. I can already tell Dream Tea and nearby bubble tea shops will have some competition! My friends and I came on a Friday evening and it got filled with people very quickly. CoCo only serves drinks which makes the wait and service fairly quick. It reminded me of an Asian Starbucks for some reason. All their drinks come in 2 sizes, regular and large. The pricing is quite average when compared to other bubble tea shops in Edmonton. The one thing that stood out for me was that you could control the amount of sugar and ice in your drink. Majority of their drinks can also be turned into hot drinks as well. Variety wise, CoCo has a lot of milk tea flavours while still offering other selections (fresh tea, fruit tea, yakult, chocolate, slush/smoothie, fresh milk, and salty cream). Sadly, there aren't milk options aside from just regular milk/milk powder. - Black Tea Latte $5.50: my friend had this drink which I thought was just something average. He got half the sugar so the sweetness tasted very light. Overall, the taste of the drink was mild. - Bubble Gaga $5.70: on both of my recent trips here, I got the same drink. It's passion fruit tea with coconut jelly and tapioca. The tapioca is fresh and chewy. The fruit flavour in the drink really came through compared to other places I've tried it at. My new fave bubble tea! - 3 Guys $6.25: I can see why this drink is one of their most popular ones. It's milk tea with grass jelly, pudding, and tapioca. Almost like a dessert and drink in one, if that makes sense. - Red Bean Matcha Latte $5.50: I've actually had something similar to this when I was in Thailand but it was a green tea frappucino with red bean from Starbucks. The Taiwan-based franchise has come to Edmonton this week and is offering up ten different kinds of bubble teas (or BBT) for their soft opening. Grand opening and a full menu is still up for approval for next week but with the response that I saw on my first two visits, it's sure to be a hit. I'm in love with the CoCo! Located in Capital Centre Building on 109th Street and 102nd Avenue, CoCo Fresh Tea and Juice is prime location for both students and workers in the area. The franchise is the largest of its kind, boasting over 2000 locations all around the world. According to their website, over 100 bubble tea orders are rolled out every second. That's a lot of bobas! For those who are new to bubble tea, the treat is a Taiwanese tea-based drink. It can be made with a variety of teas (black and green the most common) then shaken with fruit juice or milk, then made with the addition of chewy tapioca balls or fruit jellies. Sometimes it is offered with more ice to make a slush or smoothie, or even has a salty "milk cap" for a salty-sweet treat. Once made up, it's sealed with a plastic wrap and ready for you to drink with a large straw. Puncturing through that sealed plastic wrap is half the fun! Edmonton has a few bubble tea houses, Dream Tea House probably the biggest name of them all. My favourite bubble tea places on my travels always have a fairly limited menu (usually offering only a few milk or fruit teas) and offers the choice to adjust sugar and ice content. Bonus if they offer different size cups. CoCo Fresh Tea and Juice's full menu looks promising: categories of milk tea, fresh tea, fruit tea, yakult (a fermented Japanese probiotic milk), chocolate (whaaaa?), slush/smoothie, fresh milk, and salty cream. Most drinks are available hot or cold, and in regular or large sizes. You can also add on more toppings like the salty cream to any of the drinks or extra tapioca, coconut jelly, pudding, or red bean. Yum! So far, I've had the Bubble Gaga: passion fruit tea with coconut jelly and tapioca. My first was half sugar (50%) with normal ice. Loved that CoCo even offered me a bag to take it home! 50% sweet was still a tad sweet for me, I don't even want to think about what normal sweet would be! My second visit showed me that 30% sugar was the way to go. Joe grabbed the classic Bubble Tea, a mix of black tea, milk, and tapioca. I think we've found our new afternoon coffee spot. I'm excited to try out the rest of the menu once it's been approved from Taiwan's head office. The Yakult drinks look interesting, a fermented Japanese milk product that I would imagine to be similar to yogurt. Or the Black Tea Latte! So far I'm impressed that CoCo has been able to make the drinks so quickly despite the opening rush. Currently it's a bit hidden behind the construction at Hudson's but it's there! Came here shortly after its opening. Yes, the bubble tea is good, but we waited in line for 30 minutes. Let's be honest: unless the bubble tea is free, it's not worth waiting in line for that long. By the time we got our drinks, it was about 45 minutes. As we were leaving, the line was well out the door and into the street. Menu not as extensive as some bubble tea joints, but you do get to customize more or less ice and sweetness. You have a choice between regular or large sized (regular size was fine for me, but it looked like most people opted for the large size) I ordered the Three Guys (milk tea with grass jelly, pudding and sago), which garners two thumbs up from me. The rich creaminess of the milk tea reminded me of the Hong Kong style milk tea. CoCo Fresh is located just east of the Save on Foods. It's downtown, no free parking, unless you come outside of meter hours. Meter parking out front if you can find a spot. read more

When people talk about it having a Taiwanese feel, it's really the milk powder coco uses. They make good quality pearls, they are chewy all the time and evenly sized. I always get mine without ice and no sugar. The pearls taste sweet upon chewing so they're definitely doing something to their pearls vs Chatime + other BBT stores. What I like is when I choose a drink without sugar, they say it could be a bit sour... they leave recommendations without attitude. They are also very fast with your orders done in within 3 minutes even in rush hour. The only down side is the limited parking. read more

The bubble tea is always consistently good so it probably will not disappoint. It gets a little crazy in there because the line ups can get long, with mostly students. Coco is Taiwan originated, and I am so very, very happy that it has arrived in Edmonton! It tastes exactly like the bubble tea I had while studying abroad in Taipei and is a much more 'authentic' flavour than other bubble tea places in town. Delicious teas and juices that you can order with varying levels of ice and sugar. I find the drinks to be very sweet, so I always order them with half the sugar. The tapioca is the perfect texture, and the pudding and grass jelly are also interesting additions to the drinks! The only flaw with the system is that they only have one menu available up at the till, which makes the line move slowly since people have to take time to decide at the front. They've got tons of options to choose from, though many won't be available until their Grand Opening. I cannot recommend coming in and trying it out enough! It took the cashier quite long to take all the orders. You can order all the drinks with varying degrees of ice and sweetness which is a bonus. They also only had 1 till and 3 people in the 'back' to fulfill the orders. Unfortunately b/c the line was long and it was during the week; I had to plug epark twice to avoid it expiring. They only had their feature 10 items until the grand opening. No a problem b/c I love bbt so I'll find something on the menu. I got the mango smoothie and tried to order something non-dairy/non-tea for a friend. Unfortunately that did not exist so I couldn't order anything for her. Disappointing that there is no juice option. Mango smoothie was delicious and tapioca was perfect. I'd like to come back once more to try something else on the menu. I first had COCO when I was in China for $1.50 and I thought I would never be able to taste amazing bubble tea ever again. Until it opened in Edmonton! I am so happy because it tastes exactly the same as it tasted in China. The price is kind of the only part that I don't like about it. It is pretty high for regular milk tea but a couple of times a month is ok. If it was under $5 I think I would be there every weekend. I usually just get the LARGE bubble tea with 30% sugar no ice and extra tapioca because I love tapioca. I don't get ice because they already mix the drink in ice prior so it is already cold and adding ice will just dilute it later on. The original amount of sugar which is 100% is too sweet for me so I just get 30% which is perfect for me. The matcha bubble tea is also quite good for those who like green tea stuff. A lot of people mistaken this for a flavoured bubble tea place where you can get fresh fruit and what not but COCO does not do that. So if you are looking for a avocado or watermelon bubble tea this is not the place to go. In Taiwan bubble tea is just original milk tea with tapioca but in America is it modified into what most people think it is. There is always a long line when I go but in my opinion it is worth the wait. Guaranteed the best original milk tea you have ever tasted in Edmonton. I love his place so much, aesthetically it is very cute and nice. The staff is also very kind. There is not much seating and the parking is limited. This was my first time trying bubble tea at CoCo and I must say I was NOT disappointed! I lived in Japan for two years and travelled all over Asia trying different bubble teas, so when I treat myself to it occasionally here in Edmonton its always nostalgic! My friend tried the original black tea and I went for the salty cream matcha - a smooth and frothy sea salted cream, with just enough sweet, just enough matcha flavor and plenty of gooey, chewy tapioca balls! It was SO delicious - Now I know why the lineup was almost out the door! Prices are reasonable , the spot is great to stay and sip and the menu is extensive - I'll definitely be back this summer to sample more flavors. read more

I'm in love with the coco.... Coco just opened a couple of months ago on 109st, just off Jasper Ave, and it is still definitely riding the new business hype. I've tried to check out coco a couple of times (all on a Friday or Saturday night) and there has always been a line out the door. No exception last night. :) The menu is smaller than most of the other bubble tea houses around Edmonton but this place most definitely became my favourite instantly. We got two of the "favorites", the original bubble tea and a taro milk sago, both of which were delicious. The taro was especially tasty, probably the best one I've ever had. Coco also let's you customize your drink so you get to choose how much ice and sugar they put in and drinks come in a small and regular size. The only downside is that the space their in is kind of small so there isn't a lot of sitting space. Overall I would highly recommend giving Coco a try!! read more

While the bubble tea at coco far surpasses that of dream tea, their service is basically the worst. Every time I've come in to order something, I stand at the counter for anywhere from 8-11 minutes without being acknowledged. (Yes as a matter of fact, I have actually timed it on four separate occasions). The staff always seem preoccupied with skip the dishes orders or something or other, and fail to actually pay attention to the people in the line up. I understand that take out orders are also important, but if I'm paying for anything, even a "I'll be with you in just a moment" is greatly appreciated. If you really want coco, I suggest making the drive to the one off of Calgary trail. At least they talk to you. read more

I have a feeling that this is going to be my sinful guilty pleasure this Summer! I have tried bubble tea a handful of times before and have never really been a fan but as soon as my mouth tasted the bubble tea I had from here, I actually let out an 'Oooooh' sound. So good! Their menu is huge with lots to select from and a little overwhelming for an inexperienced tea drinker such as myself but the staff are willing to help you. I took Kimiko's advice in her review and ordered the regular bubble tea to start and will venture into other kinds later. I like how you can choose the level of sugar you would like in it. I chose 30% sugar and it was the perfect amount of sweetness and still had the delicious tea flavour and the tapioca balls were great. I am not usually a big fan of them because of their texture but they weren't to gummy or slimy...just right. My friend ordered the salty cream matcha tea by recommendation from another patron in line and it was refreshingly delightful with the mix of salty and sugar goodness. She also made the same sound when she took her first sip. I am pretty sure we made a bit of a scene...(sheepishly smiling) but worth it. It seems to be a very popular place since there was always a line and you do have to wait about 5-10 minutes for your drink to be made depending on how busy they are. I'm usually used to having slush-type bubble tea drinks as being an avid dream tea goer. My boyfriend and I decided to stop by here on our way home from school. We got there and the line was a bit long considering its still pretty new. It's not like your average bubble tea places here in Edmonton, as their main selling is the milk tea. I ordered the regular bubble tea with 70% sugar and less ice. It was like drinking condensed milk with tea and sago! Sounds overly sweet but trust me, it's not. I just can't describe the taste!! It was OK. Got the salty cream black tea, 30% sugar and less ice. The tea flavor is lacking and is leagues below the salted green tea cap of Gama on Whyte. Decor is clean, bright and cute. Maybe next time I will try something else. read more

I have had BBT from so many places across the city for 15 years at least. BBT is my alternative to having a slushie in the winter as a Canadian. Anything I try is always so good here but my new favourite has to be a hot Matcha Milk Tea w/ 50% sugar. I got that on a freezing cold day randomly a couple of weeks ago and it WAS SO GOOD. For cold, I usually get Red Bean Matcha with 50% sugar and less ice or a Green iced tea with 50-75% sugar. My only gripe is how busy this place is, but that's a given considering how yummy their drinks are. read more

I am not a BBT expert but I really like this new place. I heard it's the biggest BBT chain in the world, so it's pretty neat they decided to open one in Edmonton. I have tried 2 different teas. The bubble gaga is my favourite. Since I am lactose intolerant the milk tea doesn't sit well with me. I love that you can customize your drinks here by saying how sweet you want your drink. The hours are 2-10 pm right now so I hope that changes to them opening earlier, maybe once they have more staff? read more

This is the closest as I can get to Half & Half from California. The milk tea with boba and pudding. To even enhance, get the caramel milk. So this place opens in the afternoon. They have lineups which is usually pretty quick. I have tried the King Lemon Drink, milk tea. They have a wide variety which I think I may be adventurous with. My stupid self I leave with 2 drinks just for me...LOL...Don't judge, 1 for the road and 1 for me to drink when I get home. Overall this is probably Top 2 boba places for me to go too in Edmonton. read more
