This is the latest bubble tea franchise that has arrived in Edmonton! It opened near the end of September but it's still quite busy a month later. The inside has a cute and modern cafe atmosphere. First Visit -I was honestly very disappointed. I asked for two drinks but they said they were out of both and I didn't want to wait for them to restock because the line was long. Finally I settled for the size small Royal No. 9 Milk Tea which had blueberry infused tea. I asked for less ice. The drink I received was like 75% ice!! I felt ripped off. My boyfriend ordered the Alley Trio Milk Tea with less ice in size large. His drink looked like it had less ice than mines. I don't think they change the ice ratio in accordance to the cup size which is disappointing. We both agreed that the milk tea here lacks in flavor. It you want good milk tea, go to Coco Fresh Tea and Juice instead! Second Visit -I finally was able to get the drink I originally wanted. I got the Strawberry Lulu drink which was a type of strawberry slush with fresh strawberries. It was really good! My friend ordered the Penguin on Ice drink and it was really good as well. This drink looks like a penguin and they used grass jelly for the black part. This second vist redeemed my first visit. Overall, it's a decent bubble tea place. It can be a hit or miss depending on what drink you order. read more

Came here to grab some bubble tea to go. Tried calling ahead of time to order and had to call a few times before I was able to get through. Once I got through tho, it was fast and easy to get my order placed and pick it up shortly after. I got 2 passion fruit green teas without seeds. It was tasty and fresh and perfect for a warm summer/fall day. Highly recommend this place. Good prices too! read more

Edmonton has recently seen a surge of new bubble tea joints and I am super excited that The Alley finally opened here, especially on the southside, as many bubble tea shops often generally end up centered around the Whyte Ave area. All of their drinks are super gorgeous and instagrammable. And after having stopped in a couple times, my favourite drinks are the Brown Sugar Deerioca series, which are their signature drinks, specifically the Deerioca Fever. It isn't overly sweet, and can be made with either fresh milk or soy, if you prefer. It can also be served both hot and cold, making perfect in any weather! On your first visit, the menu might be a bit overwhelming and cryptic as the names of the various drinks are not always obvious; however, the staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to answer any questions about the drinks! The cafe has a decent amount of space and has a nice ambience. And being in Windermere, there is ample parking, and there is no need to worry about finding street parking or keeping time on how long you've been parked, making it the perfect place to catch up or hang out with friends! read more

Another great Taiwanese bubble tea import. We decided to visit their Brewery district location. What makes the Alley special is their in house tapioca (deerioca)...delicious and great flavour (brown sugar), and also cane sugar syrup. They have a wide selection of drinks that I will need to work my way through. I ordered their Deerioca Fever (the lady told me it was their most popular drink). It's milk tea, brown sugar, and their Deerioca pearls. I really enjoyed the pearls but thought the milk tea flavour could have been a lot more intense (my personal preference). I'll definitely be back to try their other items. The interior is well decorated and has a nice ambiance. read more

I saw this place before on the Internet and been trying to go and try it out and finally did it with one of my friends, we both got something different to make sure what we like lol, and I love it this bubble tea is really good!! I ordered from The Alley this past week and was really impressed with the flavour and quality of my drinks. I had a milk and brown sugar drink, which seem to be very popular right now. I only wish I had a larger size! It was absolutely addictive. My milk tea with three kinds of pearls/jellies was also delicious and satisfying. It's great that there are more bubble tea places spread out over the city. Will definitely order from here again. read more

Absolutely love the theme and ambiance they've created, and the cups are different than the norm. However, their menu leaves alot to be desired. While they have cool names for every drink, it is not clearly apparent to what is actually in each drink. It might be because I'm a newbie to this brand, but finding descriptions of their drinks online is extremely difficult! I vaguely remember seeing something in store that listed what was in their drinks, but I usually do phone orders as they're super popular and busy! What I DO know is that every drink I've ordered was delicious. The signature deerioca (?) drink tastes like milk with brown sugar, and the hot purple rice chocolate drink is yummy. Hubby ordered the Oreo slushy thing. This doesn't come with any pearls, which was a good thing because he "doesn't like sucking on balls". This was our first time trying The Alley. We decided to try their signature deerocia bubble tea. Parking was difficult to find as there is construction happening next door. There was no line when we went so I was able to download the app and order right away. The server was able to make a couple recommendations and the drinks came quickly. This is the best bubble tea shop in Calgary and they have FINALLY opened a location in Edmonton. I visited today and it is exquisite. Perfect bubble tea. It will take a lot of questions to figure out what you want as they don't have descriptions for their drinks but the staff is more than willing to entertain your questions. The downside is that they answer everyone else's questions too making for a bit of a wait. But it's worth it. I have The Alley Trio Milk Tea. Just get it. It's awesome. Exceptionally poor customer service. Swing by on Sunday and ordered 3 bubble tea style drinks. After being served, my 5 yr old realized that her strawberry drink did not come with tapioca bubbles. I returned to the store and requested that they add a tablespoon of tapioca AT MY COST. Both the server and the manager refused on the basis that "they are not allowed to change the corporate recipe" Tough concept to explain to an unhappy 5 year old. Worst customer experience I have had in 10 years. Such an easy fix, contrasted with an unreasonably rigid policy. You shall never see my business again, Alley, and this is my story to tell as many times as I see fit. If I could give 0 I would. The online ordering method does not make sense whatsoever. It does not tell you when items are not available, but lets you order it only to have it rejected. It does not specify which item is not available and you'd waste your time loading through the pages. Call for help? Call to provide feedback? Good luck. They don't answer the phone, but will send you an automated e-mail saying it got rejected instead. They don't call back to tell you what isn't available or what happened to your order either. What's the point of having a phone? On top of that, you'd have to reload a gift card amount to even order online, which is nonsense since they don't tell you if it's unavailable to begin with. read more

Not impressed with the bubble teas here, #1 and #9 in particular. #1 tasted like plain milk and I could not tell it had tea. #9 was too sweet even with only half sugar. I had much better teas that cost much less. Also the service was bad. The staff was rude. I would not recommend it to any one. This is my favourite bubble tea place! Their service is absolutely amazing for how busy it always is. They were so kind to even take my order over the phone. The sago pearls are terrific. The tea offerings are good if you are not looking for overly Westernized sweetened or syrup/powder based tea. The problem with the Alley is there is no proper description of their offerings on their website or in store. You have no idea what a Godess tea or what is in their Lulu series by just scanning the website. Try asking a simple question in store (eg. What do you serve that isn't tea based?) and staff are blank faced at best or rude and curt in explaining. It's a customer service, training, and communications issue all in one. read more

Best boba I've had so far in Edmonton. You can tell it is made in store. Very tender with a perfect chewiness to it. Just wish I had gotten the larger size. The Oreo slush drink was a bit odd. It definitely needed some milk or cream to make it taste better. It was bitter dark chocolate. I'd go back again and again for the milk tea though. read more

Their bubble tea is good if you want to order only exactly what is in their menu. They are the worst place for any kind of accommodations. I asked to swap pearl types in a drink which was refused(it is a matter of putting it in a different cup). As much as I love supporting local businesses you would be better off to find a place that is willing to make simple changes to your $6 drink.
