When Awake first opened I thought that a pharmacy and cafe was a weird combination, but they were ahead of their time. Today, a Tuesday, it's quite busy and we got one of the last tables. I could tell that others were here for the same combination as us. Awake has a small menu with just their bubble waffles and pasties but otherwise it's a fine place to stop for a break or to pick up a prescription.

I haven't had one that fresh since I got back from France, lo those many years ago. Not sure who their supplier is, but 2 thumbs up! I had planned on sitting inside at the table by the window, but when the AC kicked on, it was blowing right on me, and got downright chilly. The shadows were hitting the patio perfectly, so I grabbed an outdoor table. Unfortunately, the wind kicked up, making editing a bit of a challenge, but I definitely want to return. She said it's free with meals (drip coffee). I was impressed because only a few places offer that important second cup. Surprisingly the second cup of coffee was served at just the right temperature. I really appreciated the easy listening music that was not turned way up like so many places do these days. The ambiant sound was pleasant and it was easy to have a conversation. I find this location very clean and well taken care of. I usually get a fresh squeezed juice, i had the big beet this time. It had Spinach, apples, and beets. I forgot how sweet beets can taste. I still think my favourite is Kale's King which has apple, carrots, kale and pineapple. I decided to try a shot as well, I tried the apple bottom which has cider vinegar, cinnamon, apple and some maca powder. I take a shot of water and apple cider vinegar in the am every now and again. So I knew what to expect, it's quite a hardcore shot but it's not supposed to taste amazing, it's great for digestion, circulation and the maca balances hormone levels.
