Enjoying our bubble teas
Donna B.

Bubble Tea culture Just bubble tea but it's dang good! Located in a nice tucked in shopping strip in Sherwood Park. We were still able to find parking right around lunchtime. The staff picks are definitely the way to go! We love the coconut taro (my kids personal favourite). The strawberry matcha has a lovely Tri-color presentation and great matcha flavor. Recently we tried the mango coconut and it's creamy texture combined with a fruity flavor was divine! Also tried the Earl Grey with coffee jellies and it had a very sweet Earl Grey taste. Coffee Jellies are a fun little selection for my afternoon kick. Most of these don't come with pearls/tapioca so you need to have them added on as an extra. But we love the em so I would definitely recommend getting them. Bathrooms are large, gender neutral and both have baby change tables! Slick black classy atmosphere and vibe, complete with an Instagram photo wall. The floor is cold in the winter months as it looks like just cement so wear warm footwear for the cold days you plan to sit and enjoy your Boba. Love the compostable straws.

My husband asked me to pick up some beer on the way home from work. I happened to notice the sign for boba bar and immediately ran in. Only to find out it was 15 minutes before closing. I felt so bad. I apologized how close I was to closing and the girls working were so kind and said all good come on in! I appreciated their attitude. I try and never go in close to closing but they were excited to continue serving. I went with the strawberry matcha with pearls. It was so good!! I drank the entire large one before I returned home which is only like 5 blocks away. The inside of the location is super cute and funky. This will be my new go to!!

TLDR: I love their bubble tea but won't be coming back. Why bother having a storefront if you can't…read morestaff it properly and safely? Twice during the weekday lunch hour I've stopped by Tiger Sugar, stood at the counter and been completely ignored by the staff seated in the office. The first time I was solo, and came in on a Wednesday at around 1:15pm. I could see a man seated in the office looking at a computer as I stood at the counter. I'm short so I yelled "hello?" in case he couldn't see me. After a few minutes of doing this, I gave up because I had to go back to work. He never even looked up. The second time I came in with my spouse, who is tall. We could both plainly see a woman seated in the same spot at the desk computer. This was a Thursday at around 12:45. Again no acknowledgement, no way no notify her other than screaming over the front end music. Once again, limited time on a lunch break, we left empty handed. WTF x 2 to the business owner that there is no front entrance notification: 1) This store is downtown and the majority of your business is going to be office workers, probably around weekday lunchtime. A business owner might want to plan for that if their employees are also going to be taking their break at about this time. 2) If your solo-working employee can't hear people coming in the front entrance, even shouting from the counter, in a part of town with a high population of individuals who are under the influence and have unpredictable behavior, what does that say about safety at work? Is there not even a front door camera with a feed next to the computer monitor in the office? Those employees are sitting ducks. This place is a WCB nightmare waiting to happen! You've lost my business permanently Tiger Sugar.

I've been to a couple of Tiger Sugar's in the past, but I never really found a drink on their menu…read morethat was perfect and not too sweet for me. But from what I ordered recently, I was pretty satisfied and finished up my drink quickly. I ordered the Earl Grey Milk Tea with boba, 25% sweetness and 25% ice. The sweetness level was exactly what I liked in a boba drink. The boba pearls were nice and chewy. I didn't realize that I could get 3 toppings for 99 cents altogether, so next time I would get pudding too. Last time I got the Mango Sago drink at another location and it was just too sweet for me. I should've known because I couldn't adjust the sweetness and drinks tend to be too sweet for me in general. However the Earl Grey Milk Tea was such a great option for me. My boyfriend got the Taro Pudding Milk Tea. It was delicious. He couldn't adjust the sweetness, but I didn't think it was too sweet to enjoy. The taro pudding was delicious. There wasn't much space to sit inside. There was a large group at a seated in the middle, but we managed to get a table to ourselves at the very end. Inside the shop, they only have three tables. Service was quick, wait time wasn't too bad. There is a bathroom inside but it ended up being out of service when we went. Overall, I liked my drink. The menu is pretty extensive and there's a bunch of options to choose from.

So much sauce on everything. Sauce hides the freshness and quality. Bait and switch for daily…read morespecials. Be warned. I've never really been a fan of sumo sumo. I've went there plenty of times and have always been disappointed. Either portions were small, food wasn't fresh or the dishes were drenched in sauce to the point I couldn't taste the fish. On my visit on a Thursday. I wanted to try their Thursday special (salmon or beef tataki for $12). I was refused bc it was 330pm and it wasn't until after 4pm. There was no indication on websites or menu this was not a daily special but rather just an evening special on thursdays. Pretty misleading. So I opted to try their sushi tacos since I love them from taco nori in vancouver and have been hunting for them here in edmonton area. I ordered three of them. The spicy salmon, the rock crab and the Joe's special. I was ordering from the taco menu and was specifically mentioned that I just wanted tacos. And for whatever reason the waitress bought me out a Joe's special roll which is double the price of what I actually ordered. I refused the bait and switch and requested I get what I actually ordered. I wasn't too happy at this point and just wanted to leave. But to top it off. Within 20 min of eating I had serious food poisoning which really made me question how fresh everything actually was. It tasted great. But handling or storage or something was off to make me get food poisoning and that happens pretty rarely to me. The food was decent and I actually loved the Joe's special taco because it tasted amazing. But km not entirely sure I would want to come back because of bait and switch scheme going on. I gave this place so many chances to redeem themselves but it just disappoints me every single time.

Gong Cha is the newest bubble tea chain to open up shop in St. Albert…read more I took the kiddos for the grand opening soft menu launch. My son loved the lychee mango tea (but FYI boba isn't included in this drink and is an extra charge). I enjoyed the panda milk foam - 1/2 sweet and light ice. Drinks come in two sizes here - Medium and Large. I do enjoy that it's easy to customize sweetness/sugar and ice levels here and there is no upcharge unlike light ice at Starbucks. While there is an app you can download to earn loyalty rewards they aren't quite operational here yet. Lots of natural light with floor to ceiling windows, cute stuffies and boba tea keychains, and plenty of seating - this will be sure to be a happening spot in summer months for teens to come for a treat. Good menu was limited to egg waffles and were in the $6 range for plain, chocolate, and matcha. Looking forward to coming back once they have the full menu.

My new favorite bubble tea is the winter melon -- I liked it so much, I got it in XL! The vibe is really cozy, and they have a great selection of board games you can play while enjoying your drink. The staff are always super friendly, and I love that I can just sit and enjoy my drink without feeling rushed. It's a great spot to relax and play games -- feels a bit nostalgic since there weren't many places like this back in my old neighborhood. Definitely recommend checking it out!
