I'm not sure what happened at the diner. A year or so ago, no complaints. We went there recently, hostess and wait staff was great. Not so much with the food. Philly cheese steak was over cooked and tough. Not shaved steak like it should be. We also had ham and eggs, but the ham was no bigger than a half dollar. Ate it in one bite, not kidding. The ham was actually cut thinner than the Philly cheese steak! At most diners you get a nice ham steak, not here. I'm not sure if they got a new cook, or are just trying to save on costs? Best breakfast and diner around. Small in size big on flavor, service, and menu selections. I went traditional and loved it, so next time I leave my comfort zone. The dishes I saw looked very good and not much left on plates as diners left. This home fries will again be on my order no matter what, and I will definitely bring my appetite! Eggs were cooked to perfection and the Italian toast I selected of the 6 options was very good. Bacon crisp not greasy. Up until today my husband and I usually had good service. The waitresses are usually friendly and fast. Now I know everyone has a bad day time to time but usually if someone screws up they try to fix it. Today my husband ordered steak and eggs, the steak was ordered just a little pink no blood. When he received his steak it was red and bloody so he asked if it could be cooked just a little longer because blood was still dripping from it. So with a smile the waitress took it back for some more time on the flat top. A different waitress brought out the steak and left before my husband could cut into the steak. Needless to say he was better off taking off his shoe and trying to eat that. So he eat his eggs and potatoes. When the waitress returned with the check my husband asked if she could remove the steak from the bill. She quickly took the bill disappeared for a bit. After a few minutes another waitress returned and asked if my husband was unhappy with the steak why didn't he ask for something else. We both said the waitress hardly came to our table to ask for a refill of coffe much less ask how was the steak. She put the check down on the table and said this was our total and walked away. No adjustment to the bill. So our original waitress returned and my husband said he was confused because they didn't take the inedible steak off the bill. Her reply was because the GM refused. So my husband asked why, why should we pay for a steak that was inedible? Again the waitress left and the one who came out with the bill returned agitated. My husband asked how they thought it was right to charge me for something that could not be eaten. Her reply was I'm not going to credit you ANYTHING. The GM said no and I'm not going to take your meal off without her permission. My husband replied he never asked for the whole meal to be credited, he only asked for the steak to be removed because he did eat the eggs, toast and potatoes but the steak was inedible.She shrugged her shoulders and my husband asked her to send the GM out. So at this point we already said to the waitress we would never return and again she shrugged her shoulders. She left and soon after the GM/ cook reluctantly walked to our table very agitated and with the look of I can't be bothered to deal with this. My husband explained the issue and with a smug grin she said she couldn't credit us the meal. So yet for the fourth time he explained all he wanted was the steak removed from the bill because it was inedible. She said she couldn't just credit the steak and my husband said then why don't you just charge me for the eggs and toast meal. Again with a bothersome look on her face with a smug smile she said she could take five bucks off. It was really never about the money for us. It was about really bad service from what we thought was once a decent diner up until today. It's no longer about good quality service for customer or the community. Apparently for the diner it's about hiring anything with a pulse and getting as much money as possible. If you can show up to work and carry more then two things at once you're hired and eventually if you can hold a spatula you can be the next cook/ Gm. People skills are not required. It seems this is the new norm and my husband and I can't help but to feel sorry for our Grandchildren and their generation if the people that work at this diner or people like them are going to be the ones that have the opportunity to run this country. Lots of tattoos, ear gauges and piercings but absolutely no work ethics or people skills. This is NOT a place I would ever recommend to anyone that wants a good experience eating out when visiting Camillus. read more

I tried to place a take-out order at 1 o'clock and the phones were unavailable. My wife then drove to the location at 1:25 and was told by a rude employee, "we close at two so I cannot take your order call." My wife then contacted the owner and was told, they sometimes need to stop serving at one so the kitchen can be closed by 2 o'clock. Now common sense would say post your business hours to close at 1 o'clock and schedule your employees till 2 o'clock. Either way I will never give second chance diner a second chance again. If you are looking for a Rise N shine type of vibe this is a pretty good alternative. They have standard breakfast fare as well as different and creative options . My gf got the s'mores French toast and a mimosa flight and I got the cinnamon roll pancakes. Our food and beverages came out surprisingly quickly for how busy it was. Finally got to try Second Chance diner yesterday. Everything was delicious. It's harder than you'd think to find a good fruit cup around here (often just have frozen syrup type berries for pancakes or melon), and this was definitely my sons favorite part of the meal. My buffalo chicken wing dip grilled cheese was creative and delish. Their menu reminds me a little of Rise n Shine in -- creative and utterly delicious!!! Nice little diner. Pleasant staff . Order came on time. Food was very good. Definitely recommend it.

First of all, the diner was doing a great job with the COVID safety precautions. All employees were wearing masks. They had outdoor seating - not sure if this is the norm or added because of COVID. They also limited the occupancy at the indoor tables in order to space customers out. The menu was big and there were many items that I would've wanted to try. We ended up getting the Breakfast BLT and the Eggs Benedict, both of which came with a large side of home fries. The option to upgrade the home fries to loaded home fries was around $2.50 so we did that for the one order. We also got an order of the Reese's pancakes to split. The service was quick and our waiter was friendly and efficient. The food was amazing as well. We will definitely be back to try the many other menu items that looked great! read more

We went here when another place was beyond busy, I am so glad we did. It's a small restaurant with seating for maybe 35, so we had about a 20 min wait. Once we were seated we ordered the banana foster French toast with a side of home fries and bacon and the breakfast Philadelphia sandwich with home fries... yumm!! My French today was actually right off the flattop and hot. The bananas and Carmel were great without being too sweet. It came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The home fries were deep fried tasteyness. My husbands sandwich was on a sub roll and was the best tasting philly I've had. The egg was an extra bonus. We were excited to try this diner based on the reviews and boy were we disappointed. There was nothing special about this restaurant. The restaurant is quite large and clean. The service is extremely slow but we understand that during Covid it's hard to find help. My coffee came quickly however I had to wait 10 minutes for Splenda because they do not keep any sugar substitutes at the table (wtf) and they do not use half and half or milk, instead they have a nondairy creamer in little plastic containers. My wife and I were craving hash browns, but they only had those cheap frozen then deep fried fast food quality hash browns (wtf). They were also out of hash on a Sunday morning so I settled for sausage Pattie's that were very overcooked and had the consistency of cardboard. My scrambled eggs were just okay. My wife ordered an egg white omelette with bacon and Swiss, however, her omelette came out with whole eggs so she sent it back. By the time it came out I was already done eating. She was happy with her omelette, but when I asked her if she would come back her answer was a stern NO! I do not recommend this diner and would go anywhere else. read more

Well started with asking hostess to seat me in a certain area. The server comes over doesn't give her name - I had to ask. I ended up with Brittany instead of Becca. Then when she came back she started taking my order - didn't know what Eggbeaters were. She went to ck and came back saying the closest we have are egg whites. Found out she was told they did have the liquid egg but never told me! There egg was very dry and I think there was only 1 when I asked for 2. Bacon not cooked enough and potatoes were not hot - we did wait almost an hour for our food and our server wasn't the one that brought... Where was she? She did come back to leave the ck but didn't ask if there was anything else we wanted... This used to be a great place when in the small Bldg. I think the chef was drunk or on drugs or something..my friends sandwich had more slaw than meat. This place has gone way down hill... Will not recommend or go again. I really wanted to go here and show support for this place's new location since I've only ever had a great experience at their previous spot. My mom and I arrived on a Sunday morning and were expecting a wait, so it wasn't a problem when they told us 15 mins and took our number. After 30 went by (we are starving and caffeine deprived at this point) I went in for an update and was informed that they had stopped seating people because a party of 20 had arrived...after us...and they were the priority. I asked (in a more polite manner) if they could please double check as no one let us know and we'd been waiting and was told by the manager that the kitchen was not prepared to seat anyone accept the large party...that again, came after us. After realizing that there were several open seats, I glanced down at the wait list and saw that besides myself there were a few other parties that had been recorded before the large one arrived, that they had decided to forego seating. I was too hungry, and too offended, to stay. Went to Nestico's down the street and got a table in 5 minutes. I really wanted to love this place but customer service is not something they should take lightly. read more

This diner deserves so many more reviews, but I'm so glad that they are so highly rated. This place is AMAZING. I just had brunch there with my family and everyone's expectations were exceeded. First off, their home fries are the best I've ever had. Second, their prices are low. Third, their portions are big. Fourth, their service is amazing. It can't get better than that!! I ordered the Cinnabon breakfast sandwich. Honestly I'd give my dish a 3/5 because everything was delicious, but I thought I would be getting actual cinnamon buns. They're actually cinnamon waffles with cinnamon bun icing. Still good, but completely different texture than what I wanted/was expecting. Additional tips: look at their specials, they recommend them and they definitely do not disappoint. They have a pretty small space. There are 7, 4-person booths, a 6 person counter, a 2-person table, and an 8 person table. We waited about 30 minutes for the 8 person table to become unoccupied.
