Food was insanely quick, i would go so far as saying fastest prime rib ive ever gotten. Mac Salad had tuna in it (not a complaint in fact i liked it more but not everyone will like that so just a heads up). Mashed and gravy was really good. Whipped and the beef gravy was so savory. The prime rib came with au jus on the side but itself was not very flavorful, the gravy and au jus helped. The service was pleasant but decently spaced out time wise for drink refills. I'll start with the good things. I've been here probably 10-12 times. Service is usually good. One time we went in and people who came 10 minutes after us got waited on before us, we hadn't even recieved menus or drinks. But usually wait staff is friendly and attentive. My food always comes out hot, God I hate getting cold food. Never had cold food here. It's a diner, the ambience is diner ambience. It's cold inside in the winter sometimes. The bad. Ruben sandwich came with dressing on the side and not on the sandwich? Never seen this before, seems lazy. Hamburger made with frozen store bought patty, you can tell by the silly shape. You guys can't make your own hamburger? That's lazy. Seafood platter looked like deep fried, frozen, store bought, out of a plastic bag, boring fare. Tbh I'm pretty sure most of the fair is store bought and almost nothing is made in house, and the prices are a bit high for the questionable quality. The menus are old paper stapled together, again lending to the laziness. There is nothing exceptional about knotty pine, it is a basic diner, with mostly store bought frozen deep fried nonsense. They can't be bothered to give me a fully prepared dish, make and season their own hamburgers, or bother to put together a neat and functional menu. Very lazy. The place looks bad from the outside but really good food. We went for Lunch at Knotty Pine the 25th of June with friends for lunch. OMG! the onion rings are amazing, big jucy, sweet and crisp. I also had a chicken sandwich which was sweet and delicious. Everyone loved the food and the prices were reasonable. Not sure if they have the same cook every day. We may go back today for lunch. If your looking for consistently amazing diner food then you must come here! My husband and I have eaten here several times now and the food has been delicious at each visit! We both order the exact same thing every time we go. I get a simple grilled cheese with fries and he gets the Philly cheesesteak with onion rings. We laugh because we talk about wanting to try "other things on the menu" but we both enjoy our meals so much we stick with it! Simple, hot and delicious flavors!!! Elvis movie was excellent if anyone is looking for a great movie night. . After the movie don't go to the restaurant in Wampsville for dinner as it absolutely was the worst meal we've ever had. It used to be a good place to eat, but not sure what's gone so wrong. . We've never saw lasagne look like a tiny pancake, a Rueben with one slice of meat, out of salad, out of sauce, four inches of sausage on an eight inch roll and clam strips that were cremated and were as crunchy as a pretzel. I started this and it went away so he goes again. ThIs dinner has been here for over 50 years and I think it is one of the best in the area. I have been coming here for most of its life. The servers are excellent , friendly and efficient. The food is well prepared and tasty. The prices are reasonably. The dessert are homemade as is the soups. The first few times I went here, the food was great, and so was the atmosphere. However, over the last month, something has changed at the Knotty Pine, and not for the better. The food was subpar and overcooked twice; the wait staff was rude and inattentive during one visit. I waited twenty minutes for the check, and when it didn't come, I finally just went to the front to the register. I usually don't mind sitting and talking after a meal, but I had to be somewhere that day. Also, no staff came by to see if anything was needed or if we were done with the entire meal once the food was dropped off. Frankly, it seems this place is surviving on its loyal older customers and only cares if they give good service to new ones. It is hit or miss with this place. If you go on a day when the staff wants to work, you'll love it. If not, your food will be warm at best, and you'll wait for everything and be treated rudely. My family and I won't be returning after three times in a row of rude treatment and poor food quality. read more

Stopped here for lunch while working. I always prefer local restaurants and wanted to sit down. Nice place. Quick service to get my food. Friendly waitresses. Nice atmosphere. With all of that being said....owners, your servers make or break your restaurant. You can have just ok food or stellar food. If your service isn't there then you're losing a TON of customers who will just go someplace else. So I go inside (in my work uniform with work truck parked outside) (so this should clearly be an indication this person is in a time limit) and I get seated and order the roast turkey special with potatoes and squash. They were out of sweet potato fries at the time. The food came out quick. I had 18m left of my 30m lunch when I received my main meal. I finished my food with 8m left to go. Looked around for a waitress. They're busy, up at the counter l, wrapping silverware. Another table with a guy, a lady, and their kid was also visibly waiting for the waitress at this time. I wanted to order a piece of wild berry pie. I waited 8m to hear the waitresses up at the counter, wrapping silverware, and chit chatting about their weekend escapades instead of having a waitress come to my table and see if I'm done and/or would like dessert. Yes, I'd love dessert but can't get anyone to take my order. So ten min later, after clocking back in from lunch, I go up to the counter to pay my bill, leave, and most likely not to return.....because there are so many other choices to go get food and or crappy service. Good food, very good initial service. Then it's the lack of follow through and caring. Your weekend can be talked about at any time. Silverware can be wrapped in downtime. But your customers are the reason that you're even wrapping that silverware and able to talk about your weekend with your coworkers. Maybe you should focus on your customers a little more closely. I must say tonight at knotty pine diner it was absolutely terrible. Spaghetti cold, meatballs I swear were still frozen. We got more cold sauce than we did spaghetti. Child portion and charged adult portion. Our waitress left never told us she was leaving. Finally another waitress come by I asked if we could have more water. They sucked me in with the smell of BBQ! I was hungry and it was lunchtime! This was my first time visiting the Knotty Pine and I wasn't inside as I went to the BBQ pit but if the food inside is anythign like the pulled pork, it's worth a visit. Served with a choice of 2 side, the pulled pork sandwich was really tasty. Just enough sauce, just enough kick! Baked beans were good too - not too sweet and nicely cooked. My uncle used to love this place, he once knew the owner, who is gone, now, but I think it's still in the family. Breakfast is breakfast, for the most part, but went for lunch with my son and loved it. Desserts are homemade, except for the pies, but lots of non-pie delights. Waitress was super-friendly and the food was very tasty, a gripe of mine since I have multiple food intolerances and usually end up with a salad. I cheated a bit and got crispy chicken on my salad and it was for sure the best crispy chicken I have ever had. Great friendly, unpretentious little diner in the village of Oneida. Bigger on the inside than it looks from the road with lots of---you guessed it---knotty pine panelling in the interior. We were even able to squeeze our semi into the parking lot for breakfast. Definitely not haute cuisine, but a perfectly nice place to have some corned beef hash and eggs after a hard night of driving. I hear they do pit cooked barbecue in the summer, which would bring me, a North Carolina "Q" snob, back to happily sample. You could do a whole lot worse! read more

Just went there and and the meal was very bad. Had Sirloin Tips that were cooked into a shoe leather like constancy. The sever was very nice and took them off the bill. Today after I finished work I was recommended by the customers I just finished work with to come to the knotty pines. After arriving I was pleased to find the atmosphere matched the name. Great pinewood interior decorated with pictures of locally hunted deer. This gave the restaurant a very personal, friendly environment. Not to mention the waiter was extremely nice. But after all that, the thing that made it spectacular was the Buffalo sauce on the chicken fingers! I go to all different kinds of restaurants specifically for chicken fingers and hot sauce and this by far has the BEST HOME MADE hot sauce I've ever had! So all in all I wasn't expecting anything more than a diner but got splendidly surprised by all that I mentioned above and because of that I will definitely become a repeat customers. I went to The Knotty Pine this week with some family and friends. I was a little hesitant with going as my last experience here from several years ago was not very good. I decided it was time to give them another chance and I was sadly a bit disappointed. Everyone at my table ordered a different meal and most everyone enjoyed their meal, in fact a couple people at my table felt that their meals were excellent. That's why I'm still giving three stars. However, my husband ordered chicken tenders and when he bit into one the center of the tender was completely raw. Totally unsafe and disgusting. We told our waitress and she immediately apologized and got him a new order of thoroughly cooked tenders. She also took the tenders off the bill and discounted the bill 10% which was really cool of her. I ordered the ham dinner and the ham steak tasted like plastic. It was odd but I didn't say anything about this. I was impressed with the way the waitress handled the chicken tender situation but prior to that she was miserable toward us. I don't know if she was having a tough day but she really wasn't pleasant or friendly when taking our orders. Overall I wasn't overly impressed and I'm giving this place three stars. read more

We were looking to grab an early dinner while traveling. There were only a couple other people in there when we got there. The interior has kind of an old-school look to it. It gave me the feeling of a place that my grandmother would have loved to gone The staff was very friendly and the food was good.
