The name says it all! Very dated village diner where you know what your gonna get! Service was very friendly and attentive. Food was super fast and we were there at lunch time so the place was busy. It's tucked back near a rear gate of the race track and there is a barn across the street. Simple food as we had homemade Mac and cheese and a bacon cheese burger with fries. I have to say the reviews are right! Our waitress was friendly, funny, and super nice. All three of us enjoyed an excellent breakfast. The plates are enough to feed two in my opinion. This place has that hometown diner feel. There's actual developed photographs of family and friends on the walls, I loved it. Place was packed and as a family of 4, ate very quickly. The waitress, AKA, Superwoman, seemed to have all the table. I ate a traditional breakfast, eggs ,sausage, hashbrowns. My daughter had the egg sandwich, my son had a waffle and bacon, and my wife had the same as me. Great food, not overly greasy as diners tend to be and the place was nice and clean. Disgusting not sure what happened to the place. I was in here last year and food and staff was great. A couple weeks ago when we stopped in not so good. We came in and sat for almost 20 minutes before we even got a drink and it wasn't packed. Noticed a nasty grease film on to of all our drinks. And the cheese burgers were so saturated with grease and slimy. The bun and fries pretty much soaked slim up making them super soggy.Should of went with the ole breakfast but wanted to try something different.But what took the cake was guy looking through the window of the kitchen I think was the chef or cook picking his nose like he had a pot of gold up there. I've been touring around New York State and I've noticed that common courtesy such as saying "thank you", "you're welcome", and "please" are too much for the staff to say. I've dined in numerous restaurant from upstate to Manhattan and I can only count on one hand how many staff said "thank you" as my company and I walk out of the door. Surprisingly, I'd never been to Nothin' Fancy until recently. I had no problem calling ahead to make a reservation for 12 people for 9 am on a Sunday. When I got there, they were all ready for us at a really long table. Perfect. The place was busy but not completely packed, and the waitresses were running around. I had some very good decaf coffee, and the waitress came around to take everyone's orders once we were all there. I ordered the western omelet, which was delicious. The cheese wasn't as high quality as I would have liked, but the omelet was very light, and the eggs, ham, and veggies were done excellently. It did take a minute to flag down a waitress when I needed a coffee refill, since they were so busy, but they were around regularly to check on us and get us more of anything. read more

Staff is really friendly and it is a gem of a find in Central New York just down from the Turning Stone. First time I've ever had someone bring me 2 hot tea bags one for my cup which she filled with hot water and one for the steel tea pot yea! Ok onto food review: my omelette which was the meat lovers with cheese and it was huge... loaded with ham bacon sausage and I swear 4 slices of provolone. Their home made Italian bread as toast was awesome!!! (I took the last 2 pieces for our long car ride as a snack). The home fries were good but I'm thinking I should have gotten the hash browns as they are shown on their yelp page as a staple (next time!). The wife got the grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomato and cottage cheese. Very nice size chicken breast with a huge bowl of cottage.
