Good coffee, staff more concerned about ignoring the line…read more... I was a little shocked at the sign advising customers to not approach the counter until summoned. There were 5-6 people behind the counter, all loudly gossiping with each other, but only 2 seemed to be making a drink. As the line grew behind me, there was no attempt to help anyone. When it was finally my turn, the first eye contact was when the screen with tip choices was pivoted to me. Its a shame, as the brewed Columbian coffee I bought was good even though it was not fleshed brewed and sat in a pump thermos. I hope the owner understands how lucky they are that people seek out their business thats on a one way street...but if rude staff makes you feel ignored and like an outsider, Starbucks is much easier to find and be ignored at.

I glanced over their summer drink menu and went with the maple miso matcha latte with almond milk. I decided to work remotely in the shop myself. It's pretty modern and chic inside and very friendly service. The matcha was a bit too milk forward for my liking where the matcha almost disappeared. The miso maple flavor however was pretty good and had a slight salty/nutty sweetness that I wish would've brought the matcha flavor out more. The person next to me ordered a breakfast burrito that looked amazing. So maybe that's definitely worth trying out!

The vibe was relaxed and low-key, making it a good place to sit down and get some work done. I spent some time working while I was there and appreciated having a space where I could focus without feeling rushed. The staff was pleasant, and one of the employees was kind enough to take a picture for me when I asked, which I appreciated. The only thing that stood out to me was that there wasn't much of a greeting or acknowledgment when I walked in, but it wasn't a huge issue. The seating was okay. The chair I chose wasn't the most comfortable for an extended stay, but it got the job done. There was also some rock music playing during my visit, which helped create a casual atmosphere. I didn't order any coffee or food this time around, so I can't speak to the menu yet. This visit was more about finding a place to work and unwind for a bit. Would I come back? Yes. While I'm still searching for my go-to coffee lounge in Syracuse, Recess is definitely a spot I'd visit again.
