This is what I think of when I think picture a true hometown diner. From the minute we walked in the door everybody treated us like long lost friends. We were probably the only table in the restaurant who weren't regulars because they addressed everyone by name, but they didn't make us feel like outsiders. We both had fish sandwiches and fries and it was amazing. The roll was perfectly toasted and the fish was hot and delicious. The waitress came back often to refill out coffee and always with a smile and a conversation. We we absolutely be back! read more

The first time you enter Eddie's, you will think that this diner car (opened in 1967) is a blast from the past and it shows some signs of wear-and-tear on some of the booths seating (duck tape), but don't let that keep you from talking a seat. Eddie is the cook behind the counter and you will see him prepare your lunch or breakfast right in front of you! The waitresses are professional and always willing to pour you free refills on the coffee. The prices on the menu are very reasonable and I think are cheaper than Denny's! The food portions will fill you up. They are not open on Sunday and Eddie is a cash-only business. An ATM is on the premises. Check out their specials. Yum! read more

We visited Eddie's Paramount Diner for breakfast as a party of two, and our experience was fantastic from start to finish. We were seated promptly, and our waitress, who was incredibly personable, took our drink order right away and came back with our drinks to take our meal order. We ordered a mix of a bagel, corned beef hash, and an omelet. The corned beef hash was the standout for me--absolutely delicious! Our food arrived quickly, and during the meal, the owner stopped by to check in on us, which added a nice personal touch. The atmosphere is welcoming, with friendly staff and reasonably priced food. One of the fun aspects is watching your meal being prepared while enjoying the banter between the chef/owner and customers at the counter. Wasn't a fan of the Ribeye sandwich but the Chicken Sandwich was delicious, though the chicken was a frozen patty. The place from the outside is nothing to look at but opening the door you feel like you have literally stepped back in time. Menu is fairly extensive and clearly is a well known to the locals. They seem to do a pretty good take out business. Sign on wall indicates they sell home made pie but was too full for a slice. Would definitely come back for breakfast as this clearly has the potential to be good. read more

Here's a classic old-school diner where the owner knows the locals by name, everyone behind the counter is working hard, and I wish I could eat there every day. I was in town for three days and looking forward to trying this place after reading the reviews here; unfortunately Eddie's is only open weekdays so I was only able to visit once. Eddie's is an excellent place to eat. Their staff are friendly and have been working there for years. The owner tries to greet everyone as they come through the door and/or says goodbye. Their carpet entrance way and floor "look" dirty and lots of their seats are badly cracked. But if you take a closer look at the floor what you see is just very old but a clean floor once inside the actual diner. So don't let the initial appearance of this place deter you from enjoying the best "home" cooked food in the whole of the City of Rome. Unlike many restaurants in and around the area, their portions have not gone down as prices raised. Their prices for everything are more than fair and reasonable. They are only open until 3:00 p.m. but takeout is available until 6:00 so place an order for your dinner and enjoy. This is a cash only restaurant. For me, that's the only downside but there is an atm there should you forget. read more

Stopped in for breakfast with my girls the other day and had a quick breakfast. I had an omelette with bacon and cheese and a side of toast which was all very good. Nothing out of this world but good. My kids both had pancakes and eggs. The eggs were solid no complaints there. Both of the girls said the pancakes were good but in my opinion they were fairly bland with out a lot of taste. The service was good and quick. This place is THE hidden gem of the city. It doesn't look like much on the outside or even on the inside for that matter, but the food is delicious. It's exactly what you want when you're craving some home-y diner food. It doesn't matter what you order since it's all pretty delicious, but I highly recommend the roast beef specials every Thursday. read more

Eddie's is housed in a classic 1940 "railroad car." It presents a less than glorious appearance from outside or inside. If you get past the looks you will find a diner that is far better than most for eating at great prices. The daily specials change by the day on a weekly basis. Thursdays are for roast beef that rare matches any prime rib in our estimation. If only well done is available or you just don't like rare, I suggest you might want to try almost anything else.
