It's bright, open, and inviting with plenty of seating. Secondly, staff are very friendly and helpful! And thirdly, their food is amazing! I'm not vegan but their food is genuinely delicious. We ordered the loaded nachos, chicken parm sandwich, and the sweet sassy molassey sandwich, chocolate mint milkshake and a green tea. The half order of loaded nachos was generous in size and toppings! It was filling without being heavy. All of the ingredients were fresh. Probably one of my top loaded nachos ever. The chicken parm sandwich was also amazing! If I didn't know this was a vegan restaurant, I would not have known that the chicken was not meat. It had the texture of perfectly cooked chicken. The stretch bread was soft, the marinara was warm and perfectly seasoned. 10/10 sandwich. The sweet sassy molassey was also quite good! Very bright, filled with vegetables and deliciously seasoned tofu. Finally, the milkshake! I would have never guessed it was vegan. It was creamy, minty, and chocolatey - like drinking thin mints! I have loved everything I've tried. I get something new each time, and can't leave without grabbing a cupcake and a couple of sides to hold me over for a few days. This is the place you take people who think vegan food can't be good. It's one of my top 5 vegan restaurants in the US. They have a beautiful space with lots of seats, great lighting, and a very friendly staff. They have laminated menus to review in line or they're up on the screen behind the counter. The menu is kind of mimic-heavy for my taste in vegetarian/vegan food and I admittedly I haven't tried the imitation stuff. The po-boy I had was good but bread and breading heavy- I was craving more cauliflower. The tofu salad I had was great, bright and crunchy. The shakes are a MUST here. They're super creamy and delicious. Seating can be busy but there's usually a spot available, either at the line-counter, the raised wall benches, or tables. They also have a limited amount of tables outside when the weather is good. Parking is street parking. It's in a walkable area given its proximity to the university. I go to strong hearts regularly, usually for take out. The food is phenomenal. It's not healthy vegan in my opinion, but a delicious treat. I usually get chicken parm sandwich with marinara on the side with a side salad. I don't love their dressing for salad and my 4 year old tries to steal the sandwich with marinara every time. The milkshakes are also great. I usually get the chocolate pb. Sometimes I also get the apple cider. My husband enjoys the smoothies and smack n cheese (gf). Having gluten free and vegan options are great for our family. The service is usually quick. When outdoor seating is open we sometimes eat there. Even 5 years later, everything was just as good as I remember it, the milkshakes, the sandwiches, the fries, and the breakfasts are all 10/10. Cute cafe with an awesome painted wall and cool seating space. I like that they have a water station for guests to use as much as they want and the restrooms are gender neutral. They also had outdoor seating but I chose inside. I ordered the Wild West burger and fries and it was a pretty good burger but the beyond burger patty could have been hotter in temperature, it was just barely warm. Loved the crispy fries and I also ordered a huge chocolate chip cookie but it wasn't very flavorful. A very good option for some local vegan food. The Strong hearts café offers a wide variety of menu items to challenge your vegan palate. Along with a nice food offering, you'll be equally challenged with a wide choice of almond based milkshakes to go along on the food ride. On the lighter side I tried the Autumn Spinach Salad. A decent amount of spinach, toasted pecan, cranberries filled the bowl with nice dijon maple vinaigrette dressing. A side of sweet potatoes with a light dusting of salt served with barbecue sauce was added to the lunch. I requested ketchup but that was not offered. The barbecue sauce to me does not accompany the sweet potato fries. Both of us enjoyed our milkshakes. I had the blueberry banana milkshake and it was outstanding. The coffee espresso shake was good (I was told, I don't like coffee so I won't pass judgment here). Finishing up eating, the tables around were finally wiped clean. There was a good 45 minutes when diners came and left and the tables were not cleaned between them. The person cleaning the table I'm sure had the best intention thought did not see any sanitizer in their hand. The bar rag they used to wipe the tables was used on all the tables as well as the area where you would bring your dirty empty plates to. That would be a concern for cross-contamination. read more
