I keep meaning to branch out to different items like their sweet biscuits or potato wedges but love their classics so much I just keep getting my faves. This is the type of place where you have to make sure you have time because they have a small staff and make everything with lots of care -- but the wait is worth it. The employees will bring your order right to your car when it's ready (if you don't want to wait at the window.) The Buck is one of my favorites. It has strawberry jelly and peppery cheese and is scrumptious. Often I like to eat it right away in the car, but it's wrapped in a foil later and does keep well if I go home. Wow! What an awesome place! I've been wanting to try this for breakfast for a while now after hearing such great things and I'm so glad I did! I really like that everything is vegan as someone who used to be vegan I think it's great to have some options around Syracuse. My coffee was AMAZING! Some of the best coffee i've had in a long time and I can't wait to try some other coffees on their menu. I really want to try their strawberry milk cold brew but they were out today. I tried the rambler and it is huge, filling, smells so good, and tastes even better! I'm not a huge fan of the fake bacon but again, it's great to have a spot with vegan options. Everyone who works here is amazing as well! You order at the window and they come out and deliver it to your car. Today was a cold snowy day, with snow banks taking over the sidewalks and they are all still out here delivering down the street right up until close. Wanted to support this all vegan restaurant while passing through Syracuse. Easily placed an order online through their Square site. They were out of a couple items which were clearly marked. I got the Chicky Baby and Buck sandwiches. Both delicious. Huge fluffy biscuits. House made sausage and chick'n. Local cheese. Just egg. Creatives sauces that hit the spot. The Buck was most unique with jalapeno sausage, egg, cheese, and spicy strawberry jam. Yum! They had some creative coffee drinks too. Everything is 100% vegan! Biscuits were hot, large, and fresh for $3.50 with a spread! Definitely filling enough for breakfast. The vegan substitutes aren't super on par with the real thing (egg, cheese) - but if I was vegan I don't think I'd notice. Sometimes when you have an amazing meal, the memory makes any time after lackluster. Nice Biscuit is the exception to the rule: she gets better every time! Visiting from Rochester and Nice Biscuit is THE reason we make an actual day trip out of Syracuse. We ordered ahead to ensure we would have exactly what we wanted and nothing would be out of stock. We were greeted at the window with a smile and an "enjoy the great food!" We got to our car and dove in. The Chicky Baby is out of this world (shout out for including wet naps!). The tofu is crunchy but doesn't taste like fry oil, I have NO idea how a vegan biscuit can be so flaky, and adding the cowboy candy really set it over the top. Pistachio cold brew is not too sweet and just the right balance of chocolate and pistachio. The sweetie bun was a spur of the moment addition and it did NOT disappoint. Finally made it to Nice Biscuit! It's an adorable little storefront where they take your order at the window. I got there 15 to close and it was BUSY, and understandably so after trying their biscuit sandwich and latte. First, let me say I am NOT vegan or even vegetarian for that matter. With that said, you'd never know their menu items are if you were blind taste testing. I got one of their special item biscuits that had egg, Cajun sauce, and sweet jalapenos along with their molasses latte. Together I paid just under $20. I have been enjoying the chicky baby sandwich for years! The only thing that limits me (slightly) that it's not close to where I live or work. Originally they wouldn't deliver to my house (only my work) and now I can get it in both places. There is no inside seating at the window just a couple tables outside and they also offer curbside. Nice Biscuit is a game-changer; as someone who isn't a breakfast person this proves that breakfast comfort food can be completely plant-based and absolutely delicious. We ordered a spread, and everything exceeded expectations: The Food The Wrangler (No Egg/Cheese): Even customized, this sandwich was amazing. The biscuit was fresh, perfectly cooked, and massive. The star, though, was the accompanying chipotle sauce... it was smoky, spicy, and super flavorful. A truly satisfying bite! Classic Biscuits and Gravy: The gravy was rich and incredibly flavorful. A friend of mine who eats meat recommended this place. I only eat biscuits like once a year because I try to eat healthy but I thought we are going to Green Lake State Park. I thought let's stop by. Most vegetarian and vegan stuff is just two healthy tasting for the average person so I knew this would probably be a nice rich treat. It was delicious. I got the chicken sandwich and it was really good. The only thing is it was a little too sweet for me so next time I would just have them skip the sauce. That's a matter of preference. Truly a hidden gem. This is a great little spot where you walk up to the order window, place your order, and wait in your car (at least in the winter)! Nice biscuit looked gold on Yelp and it didn't disappoint on a Sat am. You pull up (street parking, there was plenty) go to a window and place your order for a yum vegan breakfast sandwich. You get a choice of cheese and sauce. My husband and I both choose the sandwich with a maple "sausage" and "egg" can't remember the name but I had "cheddar" and strawberry jam and he got "pepper jack" no sauce then we shared the potatoes (homemade thick fries) we drove over to a ShopRite that had a Starby and got iced teas and settled in to our car to enjoy the yum. A morning breakfast in May inspired Evan Furey to create and become co-owner of NICE Biscuit. Waking up earlier than usual one day, he created a vegan sausage and biscuit meal for him and his girlfriend, Cristen Crew. As they ate, they started to dream about giving Syracuse a biscuit-based business with a Southern influence. By dinnertime the idea turned into a full fledged plan with business name and the beginnings of a logo. Furey said the goal of NICE Biscuit was to deliver hot breakfast, smiles, and comfort to people working hard from home during unprecedented and uncertain times. Furey is no stranger to the food business after working in restaurants for over 16 years and being a co-owner of a food truck in Austin, Texas. Two weeks after that fateful plate of biscuits and gravy, the couple launched their online presence on Instagram @nicebiscuitsyr and teased their upcoming business to gain followers and opened the following June. Now I'll admit...I didn't realize this was a vegan place when I went. Had I, being a meat eater, I may not have gone. I was looking for a new place to grab some breakfast on a rare weekday off between appointments and their menu looked amazing, so I went. I also didn't realize it was walk up only. Clearly, I did not do my homework on this one. But, the person who took my order was very friendly and told me she'd bring my order to my car when it was ready. It did take a bit, 15-20 minutes before I got my order, but a wait is never a problem for me when it comes to fresh food being made. I ordered The Wrangler, a vegan chorizo patty with American cheese, vegan egg, and spicy chipotle sauce on a biscuit along with a side of their potato wedges that come with their homemade DANG sauce. It came to about $17 for the order. I enjoyed the sandwich. The vegan chorizo had good flavor, but I didn't love the texture, but that's simply the nature of most vegan meat replacements. The fresh made biscuit was delicious, soft and fluffy but also substantial enough to keep the sandwich together. The sauce was alright but I definitely could've used more of it on the sandwich. The star for me though was the potato wedges. Holy frick, the wedges. They have to be the best potato wedges I've ever tasted in my life. They were PERFECTLY cooked, had amazing flavor, and I dunno what's in the DANG sauce, but I could drink it. It was delicious and I'd honestly go back just for the wedges. You order from a window at the front of the building which is quite efficient! A staff member brought out our food and the service was very friendly. I got the Rambler and realized that the bacon was quite smoky and the creamy Chipotle sauce I got on it was quite sweet which I'm not a huge fan of. I know lots of people love smoky and sweet though so I would highly recommend the Rambler to you if that's your thing. My mother got a iced molasses latte which was delicious!! Places like this are the reason I'm always paying such close attention to the stores and restaurants I pass. Nobody's ever mentioned this place, nor has it come up on searches. One day I'm picking up a pizza from the place next door and I see "Nice Biscuit" a few doors down. Biscuits are hugely underrated and annoyingly hard to come by in upstate New York, so it felt like a huge win when I Googled the name and confirmed it was a real place. I'm not vegan myself, but it makes literally no difference in the taste or quality of the food. I'm not sure I'd have even guessed they were vegan. Vegan alternatives for meat, cheese and eggs have really come a long way over the last decade. Whenever I come here, I order online. The wait time can be long, so I'll usually order from home before starting my day and then make it my first stop. Everything's done through the order window out front, so if the food's not ready they'll run it out to your car. Before finding this place, the only viable option for biscuits was just wherever they sell fried chicken, Cracker Barrel, any place that's supposed to resemble the south I guess. Bakeries, stores and restaurants tend to skip right over them around here, at least in my experience. So right off the bat, now we have a locally owned go to for biscuits, and they are the absolute best. They're huge, sturdy, moist, hearty, and absolutely delicious. Check out their menu regularly online. They routinely add things to their menu as weekly specials that you'd be upset you missed. At this point I've tried most of their regular menu. Whether you're looking for sweet or savory, you've got some solid choices. I absolutely recommend adding fried jalapenos when available. Hands down, I think their best item is the Chicky Baby. I don't understand the logistics of vegan meat substitutes, or how you could emulate a southern style chicken sandwich without the main ingredient. Doesn't matter. Every kitchen in town has thrown down their best shot at this sandwich over the last few years and this one just might be the best of them all. There's that specific hit of dopamine you get when you take the first bite and the gears start turning in your brain. Holy crap, this is no joke. I absolutely can't recommend this sandwich enough. The sausage gravy might be the only thing I wasn't specifically crazy about. I thought it was pretty bland and by the end I was just eating the biscuits without it. The Wrangler is another great sandwich. Definitely recommend the fried jalapenos to give it the extra flavor, but between the chorizo and the jalapeno, make sure you're prepared for the blast of acidity. On the sweet side, you can't go wrong with the Hunny Bun. Like their biscuits, it's a dense, hearty base, but that's fine because look how hard they frosted it. And yes, the icing is as rich as you're hoping it is. Looking now, it looks like they took the iced biscuits off the menu? They were like the Nice Biscuit version of Munchkins, but they were so satisfying, and you got so many more in that little bag than you were expecting. I hope to see them return to the menu! So far, I've only been here for immediate meals. I'd love to pick up a half dozen and some spreads, but $19 is a tough buy for biscuits. At some point there will be a moment of celebration or a call to treat myself, and this is on the list. They are open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I've never seen a place with those days on and off. I can't count how many times I thought to come here only to realize it's a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday long after I've committed to the idea. Lastly, they tend to run out of supplies as they approach closing. They're very good about updating their website menu, so you'll see not just "Out of Stock" but things like "3 left". The earlier you get your order in, the better the odds you won't miss out on something. read more
